(as said): "i don't anymore, really directly teaches technichal agricultural s slls. but what i idoes do it allows what we call is a three- circle model of a classrm. so we have agricultu being taught in high schools by an agriculture teacher. we have a s-a-e or supervised agricultural experience that kind of allows students to get a hands on experience in an agricultural field. but then the ffa component really does teach the leadership, and communication that's necessary in order to be sucessful. for me...it really has helped my communication. definately, my public speaking skills. en i was a freshman in high school, i would have never dreamed that i would be doingininrviews on the dio, or i would be givininspeeches in frfrt of hundreds of people, and being completely comfortable doing that. that part of what ffa is and what it can bring to students, is really, really important in this day of age". lukas: dennis, it seems as though ffa week falls around george washington's there a connection to our first president? dennis: yes, there is lucas. the f-f-a organization makes reference to george washininon in many aspects. tupper says washington was such a strong visionary for agriculture, as well as an innovator for riculture, and agriculture was washington's first love. tupper says the f-f-a wants to acknowledge the heritage of agriculture with this nation's first president. also, tupper says that each ffa chapter treasurer gives an explanation as to why they stand next to the emblem of washington during official meetings. lukas: thanan dennis. lukas: ththgirls state tournament field nearly set, but west was trying to earn a spot last night. here's chris with the highlights. chris palmquist--"good special one for the west girls, as they've tied their school record for wins. if they could break that mark last night though, they'd made more school history, clinching their first ever trip to state. it wouldn'n'be easy though o othe road at numumr three ankeny centeial. west gets off to a quick start though...amanda gors...in the corner, eventually she feeds madi jensen who finishes for the deuce...west up early. and they add to it...gors on the inbounds to rachel knutson kobold...she fights through the body for the pair. but tasha vipond and the jaguars, just too much to handle on their home court tonight...west falls in the regional final, 66-42. 2a district final...sioux center and rock valley. late in the firsrs..matt van engen...gets the board ananthe putback...sioux center goes up one and he's all fired up. then marcus winterfeld...driving strong to the rack...he gets it to go off glass for the pair and we're all knotted up in the but rock valley gets going...great high low game between jason taylor and myles van maanen for and they go up 20-16. then the kickout to the corner...brady post...knocks down the three pointer to open up an 8 point lead. but the warriors end the half on a 5-0 run...van engen with the 3 point play here...they rally in the second and win it 65-52. 1a semifinals....emsen st. mary taking on fourth ranked boyden-hull. opening quarter...keaton bohnenkamp with the pump fake.....hoop and the hack!
