"surrounded by the families and victims from mass shootings, president obama announced multiple executive actions on gun control. (president obama) every time i think about those kids it gets me mad, the tighter restrictions are welcome news for those impacted by gun violence. (sallie badger/ widow of gun shootiti victim) everyone in the country needs to be aware and take some action. (sandy phillips/ mother of gun shooting victim) for him to have the moral leadership and courage to state his purposes and share tears with us and the nation was quite moving. during his speech, president obama specifically referred to two of his supporters: former congresswoman and gabby giffords... and her husband. ( mark kelly/ husband of gabby giffords) it's really taking a good step in the right direction. the issue however remains divisive. ( annette elliott/ gun show promoter) well i think the end game with a lot of democrats is to confiscate. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell questions the legality of the executive actions. " last time i had the old permit," said customer. "okay, that might work," said store owner. gun sales are up and receive a carry concealed permit. as p psident barack obama announced his executive actions concererng gun control...siouxland gun shopopwners were already gaugiung the impact. "that wouldn't impact me at all, i'm a federal firearms dealer so that wouldn't impact me at all, but i do think that anytime gun control and tightening up laws and things like that, it does seem like there is an increase in sales," said riemenschneider. the president's announcement again causes concern for those who fear his actions could lead to the loss of 2nd amendment rights. the president tried to reasue americans, that's not his goal. "this is not a plot to take away everybody's guns. you pass a background check, you purchase a firearm," said president obama. the executive action plan also includes mental health evaluations , one thing woodbury county sheriff dave drew, a stauch 2nd amendment "but it isn't the law abiding citizens that's usually creating thehe problems. it's the people with mentnt health disorders...people that are...there's evil in the world. there's gang issues, and maybe the president should look at the city where he came from," said woodbury county sheriff drew. the state of iowa already has background checks in place for gun purchases and permits. riemenschneider says at the federal level, congress and the president need to work together,. "i defiently don't think that doing it by executive action is the way to do it and try to or without congress," said ririenschneide. "where the president goes in this..i think it's an over reach and quite frankly, maybe congress will stepup and try to do something," said sheriff drew. jessica rae: in the month of december, woodbury county processed 340 conceal carried liscenses. sheriff drew says the current background check in place thoroughly monitors applications to ensure someone who isn't qualified to have a a manhunt is underway in northeast nebraska as authorities in the niorbrara area try to find a man who got out of police custody. the knox county sheriff's office and multiple other agencies are searching for david hoffman. he's described as a 5'10" 150 pound native american man last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. they also say he has a distinctive tattoo on the front of his neck. businesses and schools in niobrara, as well as niobrara state park, had to be put on lockdown yesterday while police seaeahed the area. jessica a e: a former band director at norht high school who was accused of sexual misconduct by a school employee has pled not guilty. according to court documents, sursely entered a written plea of not guilty to charges against him after police allege sursely sent explicit text messages to a 15 year o o student of north high as well as a lewd picture late last year. sursely stepped down as band director at north high a few days arrested on those charges.
