in iowa. so this being in northwest iowa really puts sioux center on the map not just for this region but nationally for trucks that are driving through and for area fleets that wanna take advantage of it." says iowa clean cities program coordinator stephanie weisenbach. jessica rae: meerdink trucking incorporated converted some of their trucks over to natural gas about a year and a half ago. now having a outlet closer means they will be able to use those trucks more often. "it mean that we'll be able to expand anytime we need to in the natural gas side of our trucking and everytime that we need fuel it'll be here, it's a starting point for us. so we need the station and we're glad it's here." says meerdink incorperated vp scott meerdink. jessica rae: before this station... the closet c-n-g station for meerdink was in council bluffs and fairmont, minnesota jessica rae: some would say there's a special bond between a horse and its owner... and that is what one ranch owner in iowa hopes will have an impact in the lives of iowa's abused and negligted children. reporter brea love has more on the running the race horse ranch program. " x, iowa - some would say there's a special bond between a horse and its owner. that's what running the race horse ranch president chris jordan wants to introduce to the children she serves. " we call it horse therapy," jordan said. "the kids come out and they learn how to ride the horses, take care of them, brush them with the kids side by side the whole time they're here, make sure that they're safe." children up to 18 years old can participate. jordan and volunteers work with the participants, teaching them everything about the horses, and also ministering to them. jordan said working with horses can have a calming effect. "we've heard from the parents that its really helped build confidence in the kids, it has helped the kids develop a sense of well being and responsibility," jordan said. "they kind of go in stages where they'll just kind of start out brushing and then pretty soon they can ride by themselves, so its really helped with confidence." she said she started the ranch as a way to give back. "i grew up with horses and we spent a lot of time competing with horses as a family. god put it on my heart about five years ago that he wanted us to start a horse camp for kids," jordan said. volunteer emmie rommann has for more than three years, and she said the experience is "just teaching them god, and to find that bond with a horse, because i've had that my whole life," rommann said. "when come out here they don't want to look at us or even talk to us. just being able to develop a bond with them personally and then we're able to see the progress throughout the time that they're here." the program is completely free and the ranch relies solely on donations. if you would like to sign up or get involved with running the race horse ranch all contact information can be found on its website. jessica rae: one of the most listened to women on radio is bringing her advice to siouxland. delilah will be the speaker at next year's women's power lunch. the united way of siouxland confirmed delilah for its popular annual event. often called the "oprah of radio," delilah is also the author of three books, the founder of the non-profit "point hope" and a single mother of 13 kids, 10 of whom are adopted. the 16th annual women's power lunch is april 27th at the marina tickets are on sale now and proceeds help fund scholarships and grants for single parents in siouxland. " this is our first christmas picture" images full of love and smiling family members hang throughout mone aye's house. but something as simple as a photograph -- a tangible memory -- used to be a luxury for her. this picture was the only one she ever had growing up. she was born in a refugee camp in thailand ... and would spend summers worrying if she would be bombed. she saw that worry come true when she was just five years old. "i'm blessed. i'm lucky enough to come here. now i have a house i can call my home, i have my own car and i have my career, my job that i can work." with nationwide the backlash against syrian refugees coming to america ... mone relates to the violence the millions are trying to flee. "i feel the same way for syria where they're trying to look for a safe place, a better place for their future, for their kids, for the women, for everybody. just because of one fear that somebody created for them, now everyone's turning them down." she says the tactics of isis don't reflect what most refugees long for ... and refugees shouldn't be turned away as a whole. " (as said) : "it was a 154 of 99-point-one-five, which is rather unusual. and what's that is, there was that had 100, which is almost never seen". dennis: klein says the land was sold to a local neighboring property adjacent to the land that was for sale. the auctioneer says there was a lot of interest in the agricultural real estate, as it had several bidders at the start of the sale. jessicrae: dennis, was this farmland sale a new record price in sioux county? dennis: no... jessica, the price per acre is not a record for sioux county land sales, as a parcel of land sold for more than $20,000 an acre nearly two years ago, but at that time, commodity prices for both grain and livestock were higher. klein says with today's lower prices for grain and livestock, and the outlook showing a continuation of declining farm income, the expectation would be that land values would also decline. "sot) klein3 :43 outcue: "...going to be a purchaser". (as said): "actually, in the last probably month to month and a half, we have actually seen the land prices increase. and i don't quite understand it yet. plus, we have also seen our livestock, especially the cattle, have taken quite a hit recently. one of the stories i hear is that the bankers arof course willing to lend money, and that the rate of return on your investment at a bank is not very good, so they are putting it into land. and as far as the farmers are concerned, this type of land does not come around very often at all. and when they have a chance to buy something of this quality...they're going to be a purchaser". dennis: jessica, as you know, sioux county is a leader in livestock and poultry production, and klein believes in livestock and poultry production, and klein believes there may be two reasons for the high demand for land. one: farmers just may want to expand their operations. and two, farmers have a need for additional land so to have somewhere to dispose manure. jessica, jim klein told me this was the highest price land that he has had a role in selling in his more than 30 years as an auctioneer. jessica rae: thank you, dennis. we'll look forward to your report next week. thank you, jessica. jessica rae: four siouxland teams will head to cedar falls thursday and friday in search of state football championships. here's chris with a look at m-m-c and akron-westfield. chris palmquist--"good morning everybody. later this week four area high schools will have an opportunity to win a state championship. mmc will be the first to take the turf at the uni-dome, and the eagles arguably have more to play for than any other finalist. win or lose, this will be the final game in mmc history. the school will consolidate with remsen union next season and will move up to 11 man football. it's something that coach kyle oswald's team has known all season and now that they're one win away from going out on top, they're leaving it all on the line. sam hueser--"that would be incredible. for our last year just to go out as state champions, that's something we've dreamed of ever since--you know because our senior class were freshmen in 2012 and that something we've been working for four years." kyle oswald--"the final chapter's going to be written in this book. we've just gotta find out how we want to write it. we're definitely excited about the future of going together, but at the same time we want to make this a storybook ending and that comes with a lot of hard work. so we can't take any time off and say well, 'we beat em in 2012, we're gonna beat them again.' they're here for a reason too." palmquist--"kick off and don bosco, a championship, is at 10 am on thursday. akron-westfield will also be in action thursday at the unidome. the westerners will be considered underdogs in their game against gladbrook reinbeck, but they're a confident bunch. unranked a-dub has already knocked off 9 teams in the sta rounds and thursday they'll look to keep that run alive against number seven g-r. eric walkingstick--"very quality team. both them and denver, you know, very quality teams. they they weren't. we do have our work cut out for us but we're willing to take that back next week and do it all again." cal eskra--"i'm pretty sure nobody had us picked for it. it's a even know what to excited to go." chris palmquist--"kickoff is at 1:30 on thursday. i'll be in cedar falls and have all the action for you right here on abc9. that will do it for sports, back over to you." jessica rae scott: it's time now to check on your forecast... scott: good morning siouxland. we've had a few wet days in the area and the hd radar currently shows some light showers continuing in the area this morning. temperatures are cool in the 30s and 40s and a wind is blowing in at a decent clip from the west north west making it feel like it's in the teens and 20s. make sure to bundle up! passing through the dayplanner, we've got some showers and potential mix to deal with as we top out in the upper 40s. jessica rae: radar currently shows some light showers continuing in the area this morning. temperatures are cool in the 30s and 40s and a wind is decent clip from the west north west making it feel like it's in the teens and 20s. make sure to iowa will soon their carry and stay tuned to find out why. jessica rae: 2011 saw record dear future, please help. the present is kind of a scary place. i have no money, no job, no clothes. i feel completely helpless. but i hear good things about you, future. like i'll have hair, and friends, and books and music.
