" "you know a lot of these guys played with tj, like we did, or played for tj. to have all these guys come back and play in his memory that remember who he was, how he coached, or how he played, it's a great deal," said burke lake, vice president of t.j. reinsch youth hockey foundation. "(nats - friess) "hi i'm foster friess g-o-p money man foster friess has written his biggest checks to support his goodfriend, rick santorum. in 2012, the retired billionaire money manager threw santorum a life line when he gave the super pac supporting him more than $2 million dollars. ( republican donor) champion of little guy. he's very presidential." in his heyday, friess was making 10 million dollars a month. friess won't say how but explained why he donates . (foster friess/ republican donor) "i get a sense of satisfaction that i'm continuing the process that created my success." freiss prefers to give to super pacs, which can take as much cash as he's willing to give... instead of giving directly to campaigns, where the limit is $5400. (foster friess/ republican donor) "when the super pac came along i realized that i could just write a check. it's a lot more effortless and it does seem to work." santorum doesn't believe that friess is influence. ( presidential "if he was in it for be some guy who, four years ago, was at 1% in the polls! if he was in it for access he wouldn't be supporting a guy four years later who's at 1% in the polls." raiser henry barbour says passionate donors gunned by those ( henry barbour/ republican fund- raiser "there are a lot are giving because they believe in something. they far outnumber the people who give for access. yet the people who give for access give much larger dollars." according to a non- partisan watchdog, so far this election cycle, super pacs have raised $315 million and spent almost $100 million -- much of it on ads. but those ads still leave republican candidates far behind the front runner-- who hasn't spent a dime on television advertising. ( donald trump/ (r) presidential candidate) "super pacs are a disaster. they're a scam. they cause dishonesty. and yo better get rid of them because they are causing a lot of bad decisions to be made by some very good people. and i'm not blaming these folks -- but, i guess i watchdog group... more than 80 percent of gop presidential ads so far have been paid for by super pacs. deborah: bernie sanders seems to also be combatting donald trump's rhetoric... saying trump is distracting the issues. the vermont sentator said the public is worried about the issues facing the working classes.... and that trump is playing on the legitimate fears of voters. sanders offered his own solution to the problems...saying the policies that should get a candidate into the white house should be one that quote "brings americans together" what i'm suggesting is that what trump has done with some success is taken that anger, taken those fears, which are legitimate, and converted them into anger against mexicans, anger against muslims. in my view that is not the way we are going to address the major problems facing our country the way we address was we bring our people together, we demand that congress pass legislation which creates millions of decent paying jobs, raises the minimum wage, pay equity, making college affordable for all and those are the ways i think that we improve lives for our people not by dividing us up and having us hate mexicans or muslims sanders is still national polls to front runner hillary clinton, but says that a win in any of the early voting states of iowa or new hampshire....could be the boost he needs to get into office. deborah: and speaking of the vermont senator.... bernie sanders will hold a town hall meeting at muscatine high school at four p-m on tuesday. from there... sanders heads to the mississippi valley fairgrounds davenport for another town hall at seven. he'll also be making an appearance in burlington on wednesday. and a few more political candidates will spend time in the hawkeye state this week. chris christie will try to be more competitive in the iowa caucuses with a trip here as well. the new jersey governor will host a town hall meeting on monday in downtown davenport. and on tuesday... he'll stop by a local coffee shop in muscatine. republican marco rubio is also working to build support for his campaign. he's starting a three-day bus the florida a town hall in monday morning at eleven. he'll also be in tuesday. nebraska state getting some bad news from governor pete ricketts about the expected budget. has more. "nebraska state agencies will be their belts during the coming budget year. governor pete ricketts says the state forecasting board has pegged the expected budget shortfall at $154- million. a citizens advisory review committee has found the norfolk city economic development program in compliance with lb840. city finance director randy gates says the committee is required to review the program every six months. and cumingounty extension educator larry howard says producers may need to provide supplemental protein to their cattle grazing on corn stalks. howard says the quality and quantity of forage grazing is one factor to consider, and the other is the body condition score of the animals. these and more stories can be heard on newstalk wjag, literock 97.5 and 106kix. " "you know a lot of these guys played with tj, like we did, or played for tj. to have all these guys come back and play in his memory that remember who he was, how he coached, or how he played, it's a great deal," said burke lake, vice president of t.j. reinsch youth hockey foundation. "(nats - friess) "hi i'm foster friess g-o-p money man foster friess has written his biggest checks to support his goodfriend, rick santorum. in 2012, the retired billionaire money manager threw santorum a life line when he gave the super pac supporting him more than $2 million dollars. ( republican donor) champion of little guy. he's very presidential." in his heyday, friess was making 10 million dollars a month. friess won't say how but explained why he donates . (foster friess/ republican donor) "i get a sense of satisfaction that i'm continuing the process that created my success." freiss prefers to give to super pacs, which can take as much cash as he's willing to give... instead of giving directly to campaigns, where the limit is $5400. (foster friess/ republican donor) "when the super pac came along i realized that i could just write a check. it's a lot more effortless and it does seem to work." santorum doesn't believe that friess is influence. ( presidential "if he was in it for be some guy who, four years ago, was at 1% in the polls! if he was in it for access he wouldn't be supporting a guy four years later who's at 1% in the polls." raiser henry barbour says passionate donors gunned by those ( henry barbour/ republican fund- raiser "there are a lot are giving because they believe in something. they far outnumber the people who give for access. yet the people who give for access give much larger dollars." according to a non- partisan watchdog, so far this election cycle, super pacs have raised $315 million and spent almost $100 million -- much of it on ads. but those ads still leave republican candidates far behind the front runner-- who hasn't spent a dime on television advertising. ( donald trump/ (r) presidential candidate) "super pacs are a disaster. they're a scam. they cause dishonesty. and yo better get rid of them because they are causing a lot of bad decisions to be made by some very good people. and i'm not blaming these folks -- but, i guess i watchdog group... more than 80 percent of gop presidential ads so far have been paid for by super pacs. deborah: bernie sanders seems to also be combatting donald trump's rhetoric... saying trump is distracting the issues. the vermont sentator said the public is worried about the issues facing the working classes.... and that trump is playing on the legitimate fears of voters. sanders offered his own solution to the problems...saying the policies that should get a candidate into the white house should be one that quote "brings americans together" what i'm suggesting is that what trump has done with some success is taken that anger, taken those fears, which are legitimate, and converted them into anger against mexicans, anger against muslims. in my view that is not the way we are going to address the major problems facing our country the way we address was we bring our people together, we demand that congress pass legislation which creates millions of decent paying jobs, raises the minimum wage, pay equity, making college affordable for all and those are the ways i think that we improve lives for our people not by dividing us up and having us hate mexicans or muslims sanders is still national polls to front runner hillary clinton, but says that a win in any of the early voting states of iowa or new hampshire....could be the boost he needs to get into office. deborah: and speaking of the vermont senator.... bernie sanders will hold a town hall meeting at muscatine high school at four p-m on tuesday. from there... sanders heads to the mississippi valley fairgrounds davenport for another town hall at seven. he'll also be making an appearance in burlington on wednesday. and a few more political candidates will spend time in the hawkeye state this week. chris christie will try to be more competitive in the iowa caucuses with a trip here as well. the new jersey governor will host a town hall meeting on monday in downtown davenport. and on tuesday... he'll stop by a local coffee shop in muscatine. republican marco rubio is also working to build support for his campaign. he's starting a three-day bus the florida a town hall in monday morning at eleven. he'll also be in tuesday. nebraska state getting some bad news from governor pete ricketts about the expected budget. has more. "nebraska state agencies will be their belts during the coming budget year. governor pete ricketts says the state forecasting board has pegged the expected budget shortfall at $154- million. a citizens advisory review committee has found the norfolk city economic development program in compliance with lb840. city finance director randy gates says the committee is required to review the program every six months. and cumingounty extension educator larry howard says producers may need to provide supplemental protein to their cattle grazing on corn stalks. howard says the quality and quantity of forage grazing is one factor to consider, and the other is the body condition score of the animals. these and more stories can be heard on newstalk wjag, literock 97.5 and 106kix.
