[chanting] martha president george bush that he had never felt the roar of a crowd go through him, at any political rally, any election, and a convention, the way that he felt it on that night in new york. A lot of things have changed since that day, and they are extremely proud to be american, is at its lowest level since that time. Just one individual member was widely criticized to the day that quote some people did some things. Today, Nicholas Harris jr. Was one of many who spoke about their loved ones that were killed that day. He lost his mother, frances, and his september 11 attacks and he responded directly with his tshirt and his words to congresswoman omar. Some people did something. On that day 19 islamic terrorists, members of al qaeda, killed over 3,000 people and caused billions o billions of df economic damage. Is that clear . Thats what some people data. You got that now . We are here today, congresswoman, to tell you and the squad who did what to home. Show respect and honoring them, please. Martha so with all of this put together, where are we heading as a nation now that we are 18 years beyond september 11. Karl rove was right by president bushs side on the day in 2001. Hes joined tonight by congressman dan crenshaw who was in a high school on september 11th, but in whom the desire to become a navy seal deepened and took root in him. He was serving both of the wars. Its great to have both of you with us tonight. When you look at that dramatic contrast, i cant watch that video of president bush on the mound without getting that chill, he makes the hairs stand up on my arms when i watch that still today. 18 years later. Where we headed based on all this . Like you, that was an extraordinary moment. Remember, is wearing a flak jacket underneath. So hes carrying 40 pounds of weight on him. Secret service didnt want him to go out there and do that and then he threw the strike. When he came back to the owners box he walked to the door and said, i gave them the heat. Now that was an extraordinary moment, and weve drifted away from it. The only way we will come back to it is to stop beating ourselves up as a country and find a way to reach across the partisans and regional end of their lines in our country and recognize that the people with whom we disagree or not our enemies but our fellow countrymen and explore some level of civility to our political and civic discourse in the country. Social media has not helped that process, decreasing lack of trust in the media has not help that process but ultimately will we be solved by two things. And thats reasserting itself. Its unfortunate that its gotten to this point. Years ago it didnt matter what side of the aisle they are on. And too many people started to do imperfections for america and fundamentally, i disagree with that notion. We should not need 9 11 to bring us together, we should still be proud of our country, the greatest country that has ever lived. We are responsible for the most prosperity and human good that has ever been created and we should be proud of that fact and talk about it more. Martha i want to put up a couple things on the screen. This is chris pratt, the famous actor and a tshirt that says, dont tread on me. Those are the evils that tire us apart these days unfortunately for just wearing a tshirt. Then you have the nikki betsy ross flag sneaker which had to be pulled instantly because it had an American Flag on the back of it that Colin Kaepernick believed was racist and oppressive. Its a very uphill battle and im not sure where the leadership comes from that you are talking about that begins to take make a difference in this type of environment. And and that really does say things like, somebody who did something, and the symbol of our american independence is a symbol of racism. But we need to do is express pride in america and its role in the world. I happened to be at a conference recently, very diverse group. I had a question that allowed me to sort of opine about one area in which we were criticized which was climate. America is the only major industrialized company in the world that has reduced the absolute level in Greenhouse Gas emissions. I have to admit i got carried away and said im sick and tired of people running down our country, and the crowd went wild. Thats a fundamental sense thats in the heart of most americans. I remember 9 11, there were flags everywhere. Now the flag has become its a little bit weaponized in the debate thats going on. For some people its like a symbol for President Trump, and that is something that is sad for the country. Its clearly something that we should all be able to get behind regardless of our political stripes. Theres not that many things that bring us together for americans, and its not even necessarily geographic area. But there is this idea that the government is there to protect your inalienable rights. Thats what makes us american. Its not different colors of skin, its a red, white and blue. Its things like the national anthem, and those are the symbols and ideas that bring us together. We have terrain remind ourselves in of that. This is new. And we have to confront it and and why wetalk about why should be proud of our country. Martha we need to do it in our schools, too. They are schools were wearing a flag or having a flag day is considered a controversial subject which i think its reprehensible and we need to get past all that garbage honestly. Thank you very much, you guys. We shouldnt let this moment pass without thinking dan crenshaw. Dan represents a best of the 9 11 generation that rose up to fight islamic terrorism. Martha well put, thanks for saying that and thank you for your service, dan crenshaw and all the other men and women who were inspired after 9 11 to sacrifice so much to keep our country safe. My next guest, a former fbi agent who specialized in fighting terrorism in the days after 9 11. He says that the attacks transformed of the fbi into the most secretive Domestic Intelligence agency the country has ever seen. Hes the author of the new book disrupt, discredit and divide. How the new fbi damages and democracy. We welcome him back here tonight. Michael, good to see you. Obviously thats a pretty blockbuster headline come how the fbi damages our security. Its important for people who care about our country, to urge the government to correct itse itself. And more impact has beennt not r privacy or Civil Liberties but for the security that the organization is operating effectively and not using those powers in a way that undermined the strength of our democratic government which is the voice of the people and the ability to protest the government, and in a way that is free from government interference. The fbi has reviewed this terrorist, and those are indicators of future violence. So they have the ability now because of the way their guidelines have been lowered to go after and investigate people, against people they have no objective basis for believing theyve done anything wrong. I know you have been concerned about Data Collection and the liberties that are lost in some of these programs, and they think they have been able to go too far. What do you think represents the biggest threat to our safety as somebody who committed so much of your life and time and effort to keeping us safe after 9 11 . They are a number of different threats. We are a very safe country and thats one of the things that we have to understand. Empowering these agencies to have a role in our democratic processes, usually when i talk about these issues i worry about marginalized communities. Communities that dont have a lot of power that are trying to get their essential civil rights. Here we have a case where during the president ial election the fbi was investigating both candidates campaigns and had an ability to influence the election about president. And do we really want to have an institution that can do that kind of thing based on no evidence of wrongdoing . We need to have stronger guidelines to make sure that the fbi has focused specifically on fighting illegal activity, rather than policing beliefs. Martha you dedicated a big chunk of your life to the fbi and i know you care about the institution and he wanted to be efficient and not have barriers that are lower to the point where they can venture to areas that they shouldnt be in. Thank you very much, mike germ german. Martha last year 17 innocent lives were lost at the shooting at Marjory StonemanDouglas High School. Andrew pollock who lost his daughter meadow that they called it the most affordable mass murder in american history. And that was forced under the Obama Administration which proves a real threat and enabled meadows killer to slip through the cracks. In moments, andrew pollock joins me live in the studio but first, Trace Gallagher with the back story tonight. Lets begin with andrew pollocks conclusion. They kept police from arresting and disciplining kids especially disturbed kids. He lays out a compelling narrative to support his claim same Broward County schools knew full well that Nicholas Cruz was obsessed with guns and murder and they knew years before he opened fire on his fellow classmates. In fact in middle school, classmates say his killing and torturing of animals became a source of pride. Nicholas cruz was suspended from middle school multiple times a week and expelling him was against school policy. A middle School Teacher gave this assessment, quoting i feel nicholas is a danger to the students and faculty at the school. I do not feel he understands the difference between his violent video games and reality. In the middle School Vice Principal wants email teachers to inform them that if he needs to leave the class to use the restroom, go to the clinic or any other reason, please notify the front office and wait for a security escort. He was eventually sent to a schooschool for children with se behavioral problems and yet this district moved him recommended for Mental Health evaluations. Model citizen but it truly took a village to raise him into a school shooter. I cant even say he killed my daughter, they killed my daughter. He goes on to say he thought giving getting answers about why the School Massacre happened would help them come to terms with his daughters death, and it didnt. But he says, it will keep your kids safe. Andy, this infuriates me. And this did not happen to my child. We have so many debates and guns over this country and it masks what is actually going on and they dont have power to remove a student who is clearly presenting a danger. It kills me even to look at what they did, it really hurts me. I have to live with that guilt the rest of my life not knowing what was going on in that school, that there was someone so dangerous, martha, that they had to frisk him every morning and then they put him in jrotc where they taught him how to shoot, and you see the records from middle school, he was infatuated with guns and he wanted to kill. They put him in the school and didnt notify any parents. One of the parent says youre a good boy, trying to encourage his good behavior. And he said no im not, im a bad boy and i want to kill people. When you quickly explain why this goes back to a policy that started in the Obama Administration . He was just a psychopath and he was labeled special needs but he didnt just have a learning disorder, he was a sociopath. They just had to give him more rights than any other child in the school. So, instead of giving the kids more rights and put him in a different school, they had to mainstream him and thats a big problem. Its not just going on in broward. Thats a problem. They mainstream these types of kids that are sick, they should be taken care of but not on the backs of the environment and endangering the environment of kids that want to go and learn. Thats going on across the country, these policies and the discipline policies. Martha and they discourage arrests for those people underage. And kids were allowed up to four misdemeanors per school year. And parents dont know about this. And they blame the gun. And, i had to uncover every single stone in fact. First of all, Everyone Needs to read this book. Everyone. Every parent, grandparent needs to read this book. If parents one thing they can do to make their child safe. Find out what kind of timebomb is in the classroom. First i want to them to read my book. You have no excuse if you dont read this book. Go to the school. After you drop your child off, and see how the security is of the school. Then talk to an officer of the school or one of the teachers. And confide in them and ask them about these policies. Security is only half of that. These policies, why put your kid in a terrible environment . Martha i have a podcast, this will be released in my podcast which gives you more information then you have here. Thank you very much. And he made a mistake. As soon as he mentioned that, what a disaster. Take a look at what happened to muammar qaddafi. Hes using that to make a deal with north korea and i dont blame kim jong un for what he said after that. He wanted nothing to do with john bolton and thats not a question of being tough. Thats a question of being not smart to Say Something like th that. Martha it so with john bolton out, where does the white house go from here . Last night we heard there could be five candidates in the running but tonight there are some reports that the president may also be considering the socalled kissinger model. Gillian turner live in washington with her exclusive new details. The race is on full speed for President Trump to make a bold and replacement. Multiple sources familiar with internal white house deliberations tell fox news that President Trump has given serious consideration to, as you mentioned, the kissinger model. That would be having secretary of state mike pompeo Service Secretary of state and National Security advisor. President s nixon and ford both had Henry Kessinger and serve in the dual headed role. One Senior Trump Administration official says based on how the policy works right now, and another source tonight says its unlikely pompeo would do both jobs. He said his policy differences with bolton went much deeper than this past weekends canceled meeting with the taliban. He criticized for not playing well with others. I told them john, if too many people, and it, and even after he mulled over pompeo doing these jobs the president s inner circle is maintaining a list of about five or so potential candidates to take over boltons job. Joining me as virtue of thought on the kissinger model. And, theres been a fair amount of disruption, those personalities are involve
