Good evening, we move onto the other big stories of the evening at the white house. One of the most loyal and longterm public faces of President Trumps team is going to stay goodbye. Sarah Huckabee Sanders will leave her post at the end of the month, a job she calls the honor of a lifetime. Speak weve been through a lot together and she is tough. Shes good. Shes tough and shes good. I loved it, i love the president , i love the team ive had an opportunity to work for. President surrounded by some of the most incredible and talented people you could ever imagine. Its truly the most special experience. The only one i could think of that might topic a little bit is the fact that im a mom. I have three amazing kids. Im going to spend a little more time with them. Martha here now is the man who handed the baton off to sarah Huckabee Sanders, former White House Press secretary john spicer. Good to have you with us this evening. What are your thoughts on this big announcement today . I watched sarahs face and experience that myself. Its bittersweet. Its an honor of a lifetime to serve in that position. Yet its taxing. Spending hours away from your family every day. Its something that you long fo for. You are excited to go back to your family, see your friends can reengage of some of the things you are doing. You have the honor of a lifetime working with amazing people and its tough to say goodbye. Martha i imagine theres a flip side of that coin too, a relief when you get back to your regular life. But i also imagine you missed the buzz of being in the white house, being close to the leader of the free world. Martha i got to be honest with you, i havent missed it one day. I appreciate the time that ive had. Ive soaked it all in. Ive got a political firm, so im engaged in the political sphere. But i dont because i look at it and i know that i enjoy and cherish every single day i was there, to left that its the right time. Sarah is in the same position. She served in this position for over two and a half years, my Principal Deputy before that. On the campaign before that. For a lot of folks who look at the tenure in the white house, they forget the transition. They forget the Grueling Campaign that we went through. I spent six years at the rnc. When you do that, your member that is not just been those months and years in Public Service but the months and years before that as well. Martha who would you think stepped into her spot now . I knew you were going there. I think theres a lot of talented people of the president can choose from. The one thing thats unique about this administration, its always important to have chemistry with the principal. In this particular pace, the president wants somebody who understands not just his voice but his how he wants to interact with the press, how he wants to communicate. As you can tell with my tenure and sarahs, thats not always the most traditional way. Wants to make sure that the chemistry is there with whoever he chooses. So its not just a skill set, the experience with the price is important. The ability to communicate his policies and his priorities in a way he feels martha you are not going to tell me the names of the people who you think might take over. There are some obvious people that come to mind you are in that department right now perhaps and it may be some who have worked with some of the other departments in the press, spokespersons and positions, who might come to mind who are on the list for the president said that perhaps sarah Huckabee Sanders would continue running for governor in arkansas, a position that her father once held. You know sarah very well. Do you think something that she aspires to . Shes always enjoyed Public Service and the home state of arkansas. Its been a few hours, havent been hit up for a donation yet so i dont know what her thinking is. But whether or not she takes time and the private sector, i would imagine Public Service continues to be a part of. Enjoying being a part of watching her father go up. I think Public Service, wanting to make peoples visors lives better is something that has always been part of her dna and i expected to be part of her dna as well. Martha interesting to watch, the reshuffling of the deck. Also whether or not she should follow in her fathers footsteps and get into arkansas politics as well. Fantastic town hall once again. Martha thank you very much. Interesting tonight. Also this evening, the president slamming a support in the New York Times claiming he was briefed on a devastating 17 staple conducted by his Campaign Poster in key states like texas and michigan and pennsylvania. Here is the president s response to that report. I was given a meeting with my pollster who i frankly do not be believing polls, you ran a campaign and whatever it is it is but i had a meeting with someone who is a pollster and them winning everywhere. Speak of the president wanted to know more, if you second later, he wanted to know more. Martha here to set the record straight, kayleigh mcenany, National Press secretary for the trump 2020 presenter campaign, jon mclaughlin, a republican pollster whos done polling. And richard goldstein, former Clinton Campaign advisor. Welcome to all of you, good to have you with us tonight. Kayleigh, let me start with you because everybody saw the polls that came out, quinnipiac, everybody acknowledges it is very, very early in this entire process. When you look at national or headtohead, they can be very misleading at this stage of the game. Nonetheless, there were a lot of polls that the competitive prea competitive race. Martha lets talk about she lost florida to President Trump. They had clinton winning North Carolina by two, lost a trend President Trump by four. President trump won pennsylvania. I dont put stock in quinnipiac pit where i put stock is in Campaign Manager brad bar because of his data operations, and our internal polling at the campaign shows President Trump wins in all 17 swing states. I believe the data that was right, and that the data thats consistently wrong. Martha richard goodstein, your reaction to all of this . Of the New York Timess story spoke to the fact that the president said, dont tell anybody what these poll numbers that you just disclosed to me said, so we are kind of in this alice in wonderland thing, we are quite short, do we believe what he said to George Stephanopoulos in the face of lets put quinnipiac aside . There have been plenty of other public polls in michigan, the detroit news, had biden up by 11. In North Carolina, the local paul had biden up there. Even a fox poll had biden beating trump by 11. Lets take quinnipiac out of the question. The fact is what the president said is flatly and wildly inconsistent with every other public poll. Im not saying he cant win. What im saying is hes its widely at odds with every other public pole. Thats all. Martha let me go to jim maclachlan. When you look at all these other polls that were just mentioned, is there any message that you think the campaign should Pay Attention to in them . Are they reflective of anything that would raise some issues that perhaps he would want to address if you are on the campaign . Just like the media gives us a lot of fake news, they give us a lot of fake polls. The great thing about donald trump is, he proved the polls were wrong last time and prove the media polls especially wrong. If you remember what was going on, you had memos that were leaked last time by the Campaign Manager of hillary clinton, working with the media to rig polls. Thats the same nonsense thats going on right now. The truth of the matter is many of the polls are under sampling republicans and thats why you are getting the numbers you are getting. For instance, that texas poll . It was only plus four republican. In your typical texas election, and i was pulling their last time for the attorney general, he was met by double digits, republicans outnumber democrats by over 12 points down there. That was what the quinnipiac paul not reflecting there. Kayleigh gave you some examples. Right before election day in florida they had rick scott and ron desantis losing seven points in florida. We know what happened election day. Martha it raises an interesting question because one of the things that has been talked about and i know that perhaps some of you, richard might disagree with this point, do people who are trump voters necessarily answer polls, and i wonder in the environment we live in where people are so concerned about privacy on social media and all of that, do people respond to these questions . How difficult is it to get a very good sample . Kayleigh . And i want to get richards response. I spoke with an internal pollster who went out in the aftermath of the election, many of these states found the polls were off 1012 who wouldnt speak to a pollster. I find it laughable for richard to act as if you would know what our internal polls, to have the president s aim is truthful when they have not seen the polls. I spent an hour and a half going to the polls. So is brad. So as others. Based on a polling they havent seen, very few, small handful, i can name them martha what does your internal polling show in texas . In all 17 key states, texas among them, President Trump beats when you see the issues that he stands for, Democrat Head to head, the closest proximity you can get to something accurate, not just a head to head, hes winning in all 17 swing states and we believe that to be true. Martha richard, what do you say to that . Note if you will basically go after somebody with the kitchen sink in your polling question and say, so who would you take, that person it would be laughable to take a Million Dollars and screw your own poll. When the democrats were running ahead, what jim and kayleigh said, theres a hidden trump vote, when he campaign for roy moore, it didnt exist. The democrats won nationally by over eight Percentage Points in house races across the board. It just didnt exist. We will see. Martha do you believe in quinnipiac . Richard, kayleigh, jim, thank you. Coming up next, lets hear from democratic congressman and president ial candidate Eric Swalwell lays down the gauntlet on impeachment. There is a new urgency now where the president is inviting russia and others to sabotage our elections, risk are democracies, to benefit him. I dont think we can wait any longer. Martha trey gowdy has something hed like to say in response to that next. Liberty mutual customizes your Car Insurance, so you only pay for what you need. Nice but uh, whats up with your partner . Oh we just spend all day telling everyone how we customize Car Insurance because no two people are alike, so. Limu gets a little confused when he sees another bird that looks exactly like him. Ya. Hell figure it out. Only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. They have information . I think they do take it. If i thought there was something wrong id maybe go to the fbi if i thought there was something wrong. Martha there is President Trump unleashing the critics about collecting dirt from foreign adversaries, including democratic tongass men and 2020 candidate Eric Swalwell who has in the past stop short calling for impeachment, but today he said this. My question is why now . Why are you now calling for impeachment . To give them the benefit of the doubt he was and i have campaign, businessmen running for president , didnt mean it, its clear that he means it now. That to me, the consciousness for guilt, not just Impeachable Offense of what hes doing now in real time but it shows the conduct during the last election was also one that was done with intent. I dont think we can wait any longer. Our democracy is at risk. Martha here now, trey gowdy, former House OversightCommittee Chairman and fox news competitor contributor. What you make about Eric Swalwells change of heart on the topic of impeachment . Im just trying to process the democracy is at risk, so lets impeach a duly elected president over a crime he was not indicted. Im trying to process how well that works together. Heres what i can tell you. Eric . Hes just not going on the impeachment bandwagon, he helped build up or he was on the house intelligence committee. They wanted a cloud over this presidency, and they got one. But he and schiff have been leading the impeachment train, whether or not he formally called for it or not, his actions have indicated that he wanted trump to not be president since the inauguration. Martha go back to what the president said. And we just we talked to Joachim Castro who said he was really appalled by that comment in the oval office. What do you take away from the actual content of what the president said in that intervie interview . A couple of things, number one, i do not know are you talking about something thats publicly available . In which case, you would need to call the cia or fbi . I am martha wanted to present comparable and hopeful this president and any other president would call the Intelligence Community and Law Enforcement if and for adversary were trying to impact. As for any other reason, but the flip side of that is when you do pick up the phone and call, you have to have confidence in who is on the other end of the line but lets assume he called in june of 2016 pete who would he have gotten . Jim comey, somebody who spent the last two years saying impeachment is too good for the president . John brennan, a guy who says hes too treasonous what about the lead the case agent, peter strzok . The fbi also has an obligation to be so apolitical and so objective that nobody has any qualms calling them. I feel that way about the fbi. But look, brandon still talking about the president , comey still talking about the president. Im not sure who they expected to call in 2016. Martha interesting point. Alyssa milano who seems to have a lot of influence over certain politicians in whats going on, shes an activist and an actress. She said that if this is the norm, we are in big trouble essentially. Thats it, she said, referring to the president s comments in the oval office. If this is our norm, the nation will never recover, trey. Is this the same actress who launched a sex strike a couple weeks ago . Martha she did. We are speaking of treason. I do know this. We have a robust, strong country. We are able to withstand lots of things, including her acting, and a president who we may disagree with on the issues. I didnt agree with president obama, but i did not think it was an accidental threat to the democracy that hyperbole, i do not think its persuasive. Shes entitled to her opinion and im entitled to categorically rejecting it and not paying attention to it. Martha always good to see you, sir, from South Carolina tonight. Well see you next time. Yes, maam. Martha violence erupting in memphis. At least 100 protesters took to the streets. Dozens of Police Officers were injured by rocks and pieces of brick after a young black man is killed by u. S. Marshals trying to take him into custody. A live update is next. Thats a . Aww, this is dope. This thing is beautiful. I love the lights. Oh man, its got a mean face on it. It looks like a piece of candy. Look at the interior. This is nice. This is my sexy mom car. I would feel like a cool dad. Its just really chic. I love this thing. Its gorgeous. I would pull up in this in a heartbeat. I want one of these. That is sharp. The allnew chevy blazer. Speaks for itself. I dont know who they got to design this but give them a cookie and a star. This is a commercial and i know youre thinking. I dont want to hear about insurance. cause lets be honest. Nobody likes dealing with insurance. Right . See, esurance knows its expensive. I feel like im giving my money away. So theyre making it affordable. Thank you, dennis quaid. Youre welcome, guy in kitchen. I named my character walter. Thats great. Id tell you more but i only have thirty seconds so heres a dramatic shot of their tagline so youll remember it. When insurance is affordable, its surprisingly painless. Featuring three new dishes that are plankedtoperfection. Feast on new cedarplank lobster shrimp. Or new colossal shrimp salmon with a citrusy drizzle. Tender, smoky, and together on one plank. But not for long so hurry in lets see, aleve is than tylenol extra strength. And last longer with fewer pills. So why am i still thinking about this . Ill take aleve. Aleve. Proven better on pain. Martha more legal trouble tonight for Michael Avenatti who used to represent the porn star stormy daniels. Saying he secured a 4 million settlement on his or laugh and pocketed the cash. According to him, though former client Jeffrey Johnson hired a new attorney to recoup the money, plus, he says, punitive damages. We have a situation where mr. Avenatti is acting so desp
