So it appears to show officers shooting usama raheem last week in that parking lot. There he is on the ground. Investigators say he was plotting to behead officers in a terror attack. Molly molly line live for us in boston with all the details coming today. Reporter after showing that video to muslim and Civic Leaders and family members prosecutors decided to release to the press and show it to the public showing the 26yearold being shot. Investigators say he was under watch by the joint terrorism tack force because a plan to attack the police was imminent. They thought he could be ready toage. The Surveillance Video was shot from a local burger king figures are pretty distant and water droplets all over the screen but they highlight the man they say was rahim. Walking across the parking lot and towards a bus stop. He sees a group of Law Enforcement officers moving in mostly fbi agents who just wanted to talk with him. That figure identified as rahim is seen advancing on that group. Police say rahim continued to push forward covering 15 to 20 yards and calls to releapt and put down the weapon were not heeded. He came to within three to four feet of one member of the Law Enforcement team. As prosecutors narrated they pointed out that Law Enforcement officials continued to move back step by step but ultimately an fbi agent and a Boston Police officer were forced to open fire shooting rahim three times once in the shoulder torso and lower abdomen. Suffolk District Attorney dan connolly says they chose to release the video now instead of waiting until the investigations conclusion. It becomes easier than ever for rumor, speculation and inaccurate information to fill the vacuum if reliable facts arent put out rapidly. Reporter the full investigation into this Law Enforcementinvolved shooting is expected to take months but when complete the District Attorney says it will all be released. How odd is it for police to release this video to the public . I know they were under pressure to do so but its odd, right . Its odd but a good idea that they did, especially whats going on in the whole United States you know about police and shootings and black male or something to that effect so it was a great idea to release, that and im sure thats the reason that they did it. Were looking at the video behind you. Its pretty blurry because it comes from a store Surveillance Video. Just saw that he went down. Right. You have experience in this. Are we going to be able to tell from this video whether or not the police are justified in doing what you did. You talk to the other officers and witnesses and hell tell you the story of what they did and they knew him inside out. They have been following him. They knew who he was calling. They knew he was going to go kill other people you know. He said im going to kill the boys in blue so he went and he ordered the weapons, so they knew that it was going to happen. Couldnt arrest him prior to that. But that in and of itself would not be reason to kill a guy. No. It would have to be that hes approaching them with a deadly weapon. Apparently he was wielding a knife. Right. Is it just when hes not obeying orders and gets close enough where they are feeling in danger that they decide to fire . No. The fact is they know him really well and whats his intention. His intention is to kill himself. He already called his father and said you know im not going to see you again or whatever he said at this point, but his intention is to get killed. So whatever hes going to do hes going to hurt the officer, going to come out and try to stab the officer and youre going to shoot him so he has absolutely not choice. Drop the weapon back off. How much can you back off and what can you do and cant shoot him in the leg and then youre not really afraid of your own life if you do that so the officer thought that he was going to get hurt and killed so thats why he shot him. As we just heard from molly line shot three times. He did die in that attack. Gil, stick around another case we want insight on in a moment. Meantime two convicted kill remembers on the loose and could be anywhere. Now as a massive manhunt continues for a third day investigators are looking into whether the fugitive had help from inside that huge prison break. So they drilled their way to freedom using power tools. They even left behind a taunting note reading have a nice day. David, how do authorities think they pulled off this Shawshank Redemption thing . Reporter well, firstly, so far weve not seen any redemption here, but youre right. There are parallels to the movie. One thing that seems certain here gretchen is that a great deal of planning went into this breakout and it seems increasingly likely that these two men did have some type of help. There is one report out there that authorities will not comment on a published report that says a female employee at the prison who is not a guard is suspected of serving as some type of accomplice but, again, they will not comment about that. As for the power tools you mentioned, that is key. Power tools were used to cut through a steel door and cut through a chain as well as a lock. Without those tools, this prison break would never have happened. Prison Officials Say all tools are accounted for. They did an inventory this weekend. Now they are looking at a possibility that some tools may have been left behind by a contractor and, again, there is a possibility out there that the tools could have been provided by a willing accomplice. And a former Maintenance Worker that we talked to says that theres no way these two inmates were able to navigate the catwalks and the steam pipe system at the prison without someone providing them blueprints and the area where the men surfaced about one block from the prison through a manhole, that area as i speak to you now, is still secure. There are guards posted at that manhole. Authorities will not say what if any, they found at that location. There are no surveillance cameras that we know of that recorded the activity at that site but its interesting, gretchen. That particular location is within eye shot of the prison tower. It also remains unclear what if anything the guards may have seen when the two men broke out. They were reported missing, remember 5 30 saturday morning, so they have a pretty good head start on those now looking for them. Back to you. Wow, what a mystery. David lee miller thank you. How weird is it that theres no Surveillance Video or at least they are not telling us theres any Surveillance Video right now. We just heard David Lee Miller say where they came out of this manhole supposedly that you can see that from the prison. Wouldnt there be cameras around an entire prison . I would imagine. I dont know how far the cameras would go and how far they are pointing but i dont think they thought that that manhole had anything to do with the prisoner getting out that way but imagine at night going drilling through that hole and coming out and still you had to cut the the manhole cover because it was locked from the inside so you had to cut all that so they had to use the tools to get out. Not only how did they get tools, did they get help and blueprints and all that but youre talking about the noise factor i night. From 10 30 to 5 30 in the morning. Right.
