After what theyve put this nation through, this president through, and even their own party through, the democrats need to lose the next election, and badly. If you watch that speech, this was really a Tour De Force of american exceptionalism and up the president knows that exceptionalism can never be fully complete until minorities start to participate in economic promise of america, which they are now starting to do in record numbers by every metric. And given that, this speech tonight, i thought in many ways, laura, was really targeted persuasion to minority americans in terms of the topics presented, the guests who were present. It was extremely effective, and we know even before the speech based on these polling numbers but this message is resonating with black and brown citizens in this country. You know, the president is never going to win with democrats, but thats not the objective. Hes trying to win with voters. In his outreach to africanamericans is not going to win him a majority of the africanamerican vote, but it will increase his support a little bit. And when youre talking about constituencies that the Democratic Party feels that have been their most loyal and could supportive constituencies, thats a real problem.
