She now acknowledges she lied to police, shoe lied to friends, lied to family, lied to reporters lied, she admits, to everybody about the night she killed her exboyfriend following an afternoon of sex. Shot him in the face, stabbed him 27 times and slit his throat. But she says the jury should believe her alibi of selfdefense because she claims she would never lie to a jury. The admission on ariass 12 day on the stand. A day which featured shocking testimony as well as audio from x rated phone calls with the man she admits she killed. Stuff that is simply far too graphic for this program. As you know jody arias has changed her story several times about the night she killed alex be a der. First she claimed she was innocent and wasnt there then she said she was there with but it was masked intruders who murdered alexander finally she spilled the beans and admitted she killed him. She claims he chased her around the house and attacked her. Jodi tells the court she doesnt remember stabbing him over and over again. Today the prosecutor went at the heart at the entire trial the defendants credibility. Did you lie to the detective. Yes, sir. Did you lie to him on two occasions . More than two, yes. Well, im talking about two dates . Yes. Did you lie to him on two dates . Yes. Did you also lie to 48 hours . Yes. Did you lie to people in utah. Yes. Did you lie to daniel. Yes, everyone. So you lied to a lot of people but you are saying that just because you are sitting here in this courtroom there has been, for lack of a better term a conversion and you are now telling the truth, right . For lack of a better term, yes. Shepard after weeks of testimony and evidence the prosecutor finally working up to the night that Travis Alexanders life ended in a pool of blood. She is not. Testimony tedious breaking her down piece by piece trying to show she had elaborate alibis initially. Why should we believe this story. Including the fact that he is trying to show premeditation. He went back to the gun, the gun that she used to shoot Travis Alexander. She claims it was travis. Though no one can ever remember him ever having a gun. The insinuation is that she stole that gun from her grandparents and again took it with her again to show premeditation. Take a listen. How about the gun that you used to kill mr. Alexander, how big was that gun . It wasnt very big. Looked like a toy gun . It looked like a real gun to me. Well, and it could fit in your purse, couldnt it . If i removed some other items it could fit. The item is yes, it could fit in your purse, right . Yep. Also today she admitted she took a shower after killing Travis Alexander and placing his body in that exact same shower. Shepard more sex details more than some can stomach. Why did they keep going through. This stomach for us to listen to it. Look at some of the courtroom shots you could see the families having to cover their eyes and put their head down sometime and whins. It was pretty explicit. What they are doing is in her initial testimony on her defense she insinuated that these explicit details would show that he wasnt a true mormon that she was being forced into acts that she didnt want to do. What the prosecutor is doing is showing that defense doesnt work at all because he is playing tapes where she initiated some of these phone calls and get togethers if you would, shepard. A horrifying sight for hundreds of tourists at a popular beach in new zealand today as they could do nothing but watch a shark attack and viciously kill. Biting the man holding off long enough for rescue crews to respond with boats and helicopter. Shark and next minute we saw him like rolling around and there was blood everywhere on the water. It was like one shark. But all of the sudden up to five u six minutes after that we saw three sharks rolling him around. Police eventually fired gunshot at the shark and scared it away by then it was too late. Trace gallagher with the story from our west coast news hub this afternoon. Turns out this guy was pretty famous there. Yeah he is 46yearold adam strange, shep. Is he a very well known tv and film producener new zealand. In fact his latest film called afro diets farm called won the best film, strange was about 600 feet offshore adam strange swam right into the middle of it today on studio b his friends said that he loved the ocean. Listen. He spends all his free time in either surfing or swimming. And the amazing thing is that, you know, there were about a dozen other people within 200meter radius of him also swimming and surfing. He had swum over to some of them and spoken to them and laughed and then just carried on his training swim. When police got on scene, the jaws of the shark were still on adam strange. They fired at least a dozen shots before it would let go. They do know they hit the shark. They do not know whether they killed it, shep. Shepard this sort of attack, trace, is mighty rare. Yeah. Its so rare in new zealand that before this attack happened several minutes, apparently another man said that a great white shark swam right by him and he went to the lifeguards and reported it but apparently nobody believed him. There has not been a confirmed great white attack in new zealand since 1976. Minutes before todays attack, hundreds of students were also swimming in that very same area. Now, we should note this is has not been confirmed to be a great white shark, but a marine biologist says that 14 feet it cant be anything else. Listen. Most likely to be a white shark in this instance in reality the only sharks around new zealand that ever really take on as big as a person would be a great white. Last year there were 80 shark attacks worldwide. Seven of them fatalities. The previous 10 years there was an average of four fatalities per year. Shep . Shepard Trace Gallagher live in los angeles. It would outline militarystyle assault weapons as they describe them along with magazines that hold more than 10 bullets. Among the witnesses testifying for the ban, the father of a 6yearold boy who died in the massacre at sandy hook elementary in connecticut. I just can in the believe that that can happen those weapons were used in the battlefield of vietnam. They were used in the persian gulf, they were used in afghanistan and iraq. The sole purpose is to put a lot of led on the battlefield quickly. Thats what they could do. Shepard republicans on the committee spoke out against the ban saying there is no evidence previous assault weapons ban lowered the murder rate and calling instead for better enforcement of current gun laws. If were going to expand background checks. It looks to me like we ought to start enforcing the law thats on the books because when almost 80,000 people fail a background check and 44 people are prosecuted, what kind of deterrent is is that . Shepard the committee is expected to approve the ban on a Party Line Vote but it will likely face a very uphill battle on the senate floor. He doesnt have a spaceship, doesnt have all the money he needs to build a spaceship but a financial tycoon does have a plan. A plan to send two people on a long and frankly risky journey around mars he is dennis titto. He paid russia 20 million bucks to fly him to the International Space station. Now he has his eye on mars. Announcing today a privately funded mission to send a married couple around the red planet in the year 2018. That couple wouldnt touch down on the martian surface.
