endorsed mitt for president. that has to hurt obama. what can you say when a man who helped defeat communism endorses your opponent? what can you say when a man who brought economic profession perty to people -- prosperity to people. if you're a palestinian authority you call him a racist. if you're ahmadinejad you agree with nancy pelosi that mitt meeting the jews was all about the cash. lex thinks mitt is it. palestinian authority and ahmadinejad don't. if you are a liberal, this split should make you question which side you should be on. when someone like lek endorses you for president that's like jeff gordon saying you are a great driver or eric bolling complimenting your tan. like dana perino calling you perky. if the eastern european father of free market believes in mitt that is big. you have to wonder which world leader will endorse obama now. oh, yeah, the p pico pineapple, hugo chavez. he thinks obama is a good guy. maybe he could speak at the convention. bob -- >> dana: can i interrupt? are you on a first bas name bass with world leaders and not nascar drivers? what is the problem. >> greg: i can't pronounce his last name. it's walesnka and it could be rulalenska. i don't know how to say his name. they use a letter not in our alphabet. >> bob: have you ever been to polish neighborhood in america? same problem. >> greg: is it? haven't been in polish neighborhood. but i love sausage. some say i love it too much. cokie roberts talking about the trip to poland was all courting the white polish voters. do you buy that? >> bob: sure. what is the great mystery here. you make plans going places. why did he go to poland? because walesa was going to endorse him. that is a good thing. because there are large enclave of polish ethnic voters in the northeast, particularly, that have been broken off from the democratic party. nice way to send a message. i don't think anything is wrong with that. obama went to germany because he gave a big speech. >> dana: i think there is a different strategy. if you have a chance i encourage everybody to read the whole speech. it's really good. one, there is a theme here. one, obviously the olympics. that makes sense since he was involved in the olympics here. recent speech talks about the kinship between america and england. america and israel. america and poland. poland was one of the first countries to help america in the fight in afghanistan and iraq. one of the first people to call president bush, polish leader. they have been solid across the board. i think there was more of a theme about freedom and democracy than there was about polish voters which probably going to vote for him anyway. >> eric: i think he's planning on winning. if mitt romney wins, what a great thing to have on your resume, that i shook hands with the israelis, i shook hands with the pols and brits. something obama never did. he went there and apologized for america. >> bob: he did not. what are you talking about? >> eric: we apologize for american exceptionalism -- >> bob: that is flat wrong. >> eric: defended you in the past. >> bob: where did you dream that up? in the polish neighborhood? >> eric: listen to the speech. i made it up off the top of my head. >> bob: i think you did. >> greg: if lek likes mitt and hugo likes obama that is telling. that should tell america what side are you on? >> andrea: it's very telling. lek ran the solidarity movement. >> bob: that's overly simplistic. >> andrea: it is a telling endorsement. eric is on to something. mitt romney looks extremely presidential. walking around, shaking hands with allies. not just for the political purposes, bob. but obama has been on unsure footing with with the poles because of the death catch gaffe recently, the missile defense, open mic moment with the russians. so now, going back to cokie roberts' point she was trying to insinuate that his move was racist. going after the began democrats. it must be racist if they are breaking for mitt romney and not obama, which is racist of her. to somehow try to look through everything in the prism of race. mitt romney was going over there to show we are friends. more of a friendship tour than an apology tour which is opposite of obama. >> greg: i don't think she talked about the african-americans for obama program for getting out the vote. >> bob: obama did not make mistakes when he was over there. he got out of poland without a mistake. that may say something. >> greg: let me bring up the quote. you talk about the gaffes. >> bob: the many gaffes. >> greg: carl cameron asked mitt romney about the media treatment, coverage on the gaffe. mitt responded thusly. >> and i realize that there will be some. in the fourth estate or whicheverrest tate who are more -- whichever estate to find something more interesting than economy, geopolitics, threat of war, reality of conflict in afghanistan today. nuclearization of iran. they will try to find anything else to divert from the fact that the last four years have been tough years for our country. >> eric: let me make a quick point. the gaffe, if there is is doing this now. we talk about it, the whole you didn't build that thing? the wave mitt romney was getting from that. then he went to europe and took the focus off the economy again. everyone is worried about what he said about the olympics or what he said about the culture in palestine. in my opinion, i would have stayed on it. say you didn't build that, talk about the economy. we have big numbers coming out on friday. unemployment numbers. >> bob: do you think he looked president traditional? >> eric: regardless -- >> bob: he is talking about the estates. i don't know about his own eestates. >> eric: we have 57 states. >> bob: do we have 57? he looked as presidential as a cub scout leader. c'mon. >> greg: he is not whining. he's asked a question about the media treatment. the democrats call it a gaffe but it's the truth. >> dana: if you didn't have the photograph of it, you were just reading his quote and reading a quote when president obama is asked about the media treatment, i would bet you couldn't tell the difference between the two. they actually say the same thing. obama called out fox news. talk about whining. >> bob: excuse me. the reason the media has done this, he made gaffes. they didn't make them up. >> dana: what is the gaffe? >> bob: he went to london and compared his work in salt lake city, town of 500,000 to a town of 7 million and said the security wasn't adequate. he knows -- >> greg: the english media said it wasn't adequate. >> bob: that is not the point. if you want to be a world leader you want to diss everybody. >> greg: if there are american athletes there, you're damn right. >> andrea: in political campaigns it's not wise to make your message criticizing -- >> dana: all he needed is the picture. president obama and mitt romney are doing too many interviews. they could do without those. especially now. in the dead heat of summer. everybody is watching the olympics. they will get back to the economy. you are right. he could haven't moved the olympics. the timing wasn't ideal. >> andrea: he is thinking they are not going to drop this. we get to this later, but they'll have elizabeth warren and others speak at the convention. they're not backing off we didn't build the comments. but he was gaining momentum and had obama on the ropes and left. democrats aren't going to stop using the talking point. >> bob: eric made a point about fundraising about obama. but the good thing from mitt's tour is $1 panth million or $2 million in london. in israel got another $1 million. did good with fundraising. >> the upside of staying on the economy and staying on the you didn't build that, maybe, you may want to get back to $1.5 million and get back to that. i'd sake the $1.5 million and go right back at it. you didn't build that. >> bob: you didn't build that road. >> greg: talk about this brief. romney talking about culture again. cameron brought it up talking about palestinian and israel. palestinian accused him of racism. the palestinian authority. here is the quote. >> i'm not speaking about it. did not speak about the palestinian culture. or the decisions made in their economy. that is an interesting topic that can perhaps deserve scholarly analysis. it didn't address that. i don't intend to address that in the campaign. instead, i will point out that the choice that society makes have a profound impact on the economy and the vitality of that society. >> bob: that is a profound lie. he sat in that israeli fundraiser and he said in israel, your income is medium income is set and across the way here, in gaza, it's something else. of course, he doesn't make out the point that gaza is surrounded and cannot by israeli -- >> greg: surrounded. it's divided. who divided it? >> bob: in west bank where they have been under the palestinian authority, they have done very well with the economy. >> greg: after arafat died, maybe. by the way, arafat didn't decide to build the palestinian state or whatever you want to call it. he wanted to destroy israel. he took all of that money. all of that aid. what did he do with it? >> andrea: i'm disappointed with mitt romney for backing off the comments. he hit the nail on the head. >> bob: culturally up to it? >> andrea: that is not what he said. >> eric: he said the culture in israel provides for business success. >> andrea: let me finish. he has a point here. israelis have and as dana old colleague points out when he was quoted in freakonomics they have the highest density of tech startup in israel. they're entrepreneurial. they take risks and hard workers. it's the reason that the culture flourish. palestinians on the other hand teach hate, they teach the kids to hate. maybe if they didn't teach the kids to hate he would have had more economic prosperity. >> greg: the palestinians took them down the wrong path. >> bob: the palestinians have been successful in this country in business. >> greg: where?
