Thats the ultimate question for the entire nation that has been absolutely beset by violence all over the country this summer. We have seen a number of speakers. Many talking about the need to vote in november and the need for reform within the Law Enforcement community and they would like to combat police proitality. Brutality. What we saw on the streets of washington, d. C. Last night was not a peaceful protest. There were people in harms way. That takes away from the ultimate message. Is this a political message . Perhaps . Is it also one we need to make sure we protect those constitutional freedoms . Absolutely. But we dont need to condone what is happening in communities across the country. When we see the burning and the looting and the rioting that goes on, that is certainly not what indicative of a speech that happened over 50 years ago in this same place and not something that the president supports. The president has been the only one they are here in washington, d. C. I will say that the president has been the only one in washington, d. C. That has actually acted on Police Reform. He signed an executive regard when senator tim scott put forth his bill. He was condemned by senator durbin to be specific. The president will act not only that we have safe communities but have the tools to hold people accountable. John to last night. A lot of criticism of the president holding the big acceptance speech on the south lawn of the white house. The president is not subject to the hatch act but there are questions if it was the right thing to do. To use the white house as a background. All of the criticism that comes out against this president is from the normal suspects. There was not a single federal dollar spent on the convention. It was paid by the political campaign, by the Republican National committee. Said we are willing to come in and restore the peace there and work along side local Law Enforcement and was originally rebuffed by the governor of wisconsin. The following day they accepted it and we have had largely peaceful nights in kenosha. Yet, we see the remnants of what happened. Burned out buildings and Business Owners had their lives burn up before them. This president is about making sure this is not a commonplace occurrence in america. John we have not heard from the president. He hasnt weighed in on the shooting of jacob blake in kenosha. What is his thinking on that . Well, he asked me to reach out to the family yesterday. I spoke to a pastor associated with the family. A very good conversation there. He is trying not to make this political. The other part is he is a rule of law president. The first day when we didnt know anything about this, he asked the attorney general to make sure he investigateed it and get to the truth and make sure those with wrongdoing are held accountable. There is a civil rights investigation. That happened at the insistence of the president and the attorney general. To suggest he doesnt care because he is not opining on something we dont have the facts on yet is not showing is the heart of the president that i have been able to serve. He asked me to reach out to them personally. John is that what he is waiting for, the facts are not all in yet . He is waiting to make sure we do a proper investigation and restore the rule of law and not burning down buildings while the jury is still out on what happened and all of the circumstances. We are a nation that allows us to have a jury of our peers. Sometimes in this modernday rush to justice on what happened and didnt happen. He wants to make sure the facts are there. The complaint said in the first shooting incident a protestor was following Kyle Rittenhouse and threw a plastic bag at him. He approached rosenbalm and he was fatally wounded. He said i just killed somebody. He is chased by protestors. He falls and protestor hoover strikes Kyle Rittenhouse with a skate board. Kyle rittenhouse shoots him and fires at another man and wounded him in the arm. That man appeared to be holding a handgun. One of the high group of attorneys representing Kyle Rittenhouse claims the Video Evidence shows justified acts of selfdefense. Prosecutors clearly disagree. Jacob blake whose shooting by Kenosha Police officers sparked the protest remains under heavy sedation and shackled to his bed according to his father.
