Failure could have caused the crash. U. S. Navy helicopters rescued eight navy sailors out of the 11. Three remain missing. And the search effort continues, although hampered by darkness, as it is now 4 00 a. M. In japan. The recovered sailors are in Good Condition back on board. They delivered passengers and supplies including the mail. It first entered service in the late 60s. This crash occurred 575 miles southeast of okinawa, japan. The Japanese Military also assisting in the search for the three missing american sailors. Now, this crash comes two days after an air force training jet crashed in texas. The u. S. Military plane crashes are up 38 this year compared to this point a year ago. Earlier this month the head of Navy Aviation told congress only half of the navys 542f18 Super Hornets can fly. Another indication of the crisis facing the navy. Dana im going to have michael on to talk about, this is obviously a terrible situation that happened today. But there have been a host of deadly accidents for the navy in the pacific. What can you tell us about that . There have been. There have been a whole series of deadly conditions going back to january when a u. S. Warship ran aground spilling more than 1,000 gallons of oil into the water. Months later another u. S. Warship collided with a south korean fishing vessel. Over the summer, beginning in june, there were two deadly collisions involving the destroyer uss fitzgerald and uss john s. Mccain, killing 17 sailors in those two collisions, which the navy called preventible. Over the weekend there was another mishap for the japan based fleet. A u. S. Destroyer collided with a japanese tugboat after that tugboat lost propulsion. There was minor damage to both ships. Dana thank you, lucas. Check in with you next week. I think the president did a very good thing for roy moore. I assume it will help him on election day because it is a stand between conservatives and liberals. Dana we love hugh hewitt. But im saying for Hillary Clinton, why are you putting yourself through this . Dana shes selling a book. They have a quadrillion dollar. It is hard for a president for the same party to succeed a two term president. Thats 100 true. Thats valid. But the narrative shes pushing harder than that is that she didnt run a lousy campaign. They cant come to terms about for example, the fact consensus has not formed around the question of whether roy moore is a suitable United States senator is a great reflection of how painful and damaging the selfinflicted wounds of the Republican Party are. You have steve bannon, bucks the president , goes to alabama, gets behind this candidate who is now a toxic disaster for republicans from coast to coast. Polling shows that its inching up in terms of approval as people start to dig in to what this thanksgiving Holiday Package would mean for them. You voted against it. Why . Three season reasons. It increases the deficit. Theres been no independent analysis that shows the Economic Growth thats promised will happen. So kind of as a beginning matter, i think thats bad policy. Secondly, the bill doesnt really get at some of the issues we have in the economy. If you think ab why our economy is not growing, its because we havent invested enough in infrastructure. We havent done things to attract capital to regions of the country that have been left behind. This bill doesen address any of those issues, which you could address in tax reform. What this bill does, its prefaced on the notion that we need morley quiddity in the economy and all major markets are strong. Thirdly, it disproportionately favors wealthy americans over milled class americans. For those three americans it grows the deficit, doesen grow the economy. Doesnt really get at the issues we have in the economy. Still distorts toward the wealthy. Dana republicans would obviously disagree. For all the things that you were just picking off, when it comes to the Corporate Tax rate, wouldnt you agree to do the things that you would like to accomplish that you have to lower that Corporate Tax rate to get liquidity back in and get that job training and investment back in america . No. Lets start with inpra structure. I have a large bipartisan proposal, 40 republican, 40 democrats. Wouldnt this be a better bill if instead of lowering the Corporate Tax trite 20 they lowered it to say 23 or 24 and we were launching 1 trillion National Infrastructure as part of this bill . Wouldnt that be a better proposal . Wouldnt it be better to have incentives like a proposal that i have thats also bipartisan that said if americans sell their appreciated investments, they can defer their Capital Gains if they invest the proceeds in areas of our country that have been left behind economically. That would produce more growth. Clearly lowering the Corporate Tax rate is beneficial on the margin. Its better to do it by removing deductions. What you really have to do is use tax reform as an opportunity to not on simplify the code, fix the international system, but all get at some of the lagging things weve done in our economy. You talk to most by leaders, they talk ab human capital, lack of investment. Those are bigger problems than most of their minds than where the Corporate Tax rate is. Dana republicans feel like, at least in the house, they could probably get this done. Of course t senate is where they always run into a little bit of a road block. Seven republican senators who are sort on on the fence. Theyre going to need help to get to a yes vote. Democrats have a strategy to try to get them to not vote for the bill . I think our strategy is just to keep promoting the truth. As you might have seen, theres been recent analysis thats come out that shows in like five or six or seven years more than 50 of middle class americans will actually get a tax increase under the senate proposal. That is the individual tax dana they want to keep it in that 1. 5 trillion window. Of course, the tack cuts will continue. I hear what youre saying. Again, wouldnt it be better to not get rid of the estate tax which affects a few thousand americans. Dana you could make that agreement. Wouldnt it be better to not bring the Corporate Tax rate down quite as far and focus more on the middle income tax payers. Dana we appreciate you coming on the show.
