tonight. we are months into the presidential election cycle and despite critics donald trump remains a double dig get lead over the big field of republican competitors. he's showing no sign of going away. i sat down with the gop frontrunner on 5th avenue in new york city. and in the interest of full disclosure donald and i have been friends for many years. he has even donated to some of my past campaigns. this interview was about policy. i did get him to open up into aspects of his personal life i think you will find interesting. >> donald thank you so much for doing this. i want to start with the first question at the fox debate where you were pretty much put at odds with the republican primary audience when you were asked if you would run as a third party candidate. you said that was you wanted leverage are the republican national committee if they didn't treat you well. are they now treating you with respect? >> i am number one in every posteriorly. inch one in florida, iowa, new hampshire, south carolina and every place. texas came in. i am number one in texas and number one nationally in every poll. honestly they are treating me very nicely. i keep the door open because if i am not treated fairly. i don't care about nice. i have to be treated fairly. if i am not treated fairly i may do something but it's not something i want to do. i want to run as a republican and win the nomination and beat hillary whoever is going to be running. i am not sure it wlb her but whoever is running. >> let's start with immigration. you started the firestorm with the sanctuary city and illegals now you have another firestorm with the birth right citizenship and anchor babies. the problem is going forward in 20167 we are going to have almost 20 percent more latino voters, and you say that they love you -- >> they do. the polls are coming out that they love me and i am going to create jobs. it is a very interesting thing with the hispanics. in nevada i won big with the hispanics. i have thousands of hispanics that work for me. tens of thousands over the years. mexicans. i love them. they are incredible people. so many of them agree with me because they have come into the country legally. it has taken them time and effort and they don't want illegals pouring into the country. >> 76 of the independents say you plan to deport everybody here who is illegally over the top. will you change your strategy going forward once you are out of the primary to kind of safe that? -- satisfy that. >> you either have the country or you don't. we can't have everybody pouring in illegally. we have a president that doesn't have a clue what's going on at the border. we have incredible border patrol people they can stop it immediately. they are told not to. people are walking in right in front of them. you either have a country or you don't have a country. >> mexico is going to pay for it. >> how? >> they are making a fortune. they just announced they are closing a big plant in chicago, nabisco. you eat oreos? i might not any more. but nabisco is moving their plant to mexico. florida is being a massive plant in mexico. >> how do you get them to pay? >> through negotiations. politicians don't have a clue. do you have any doubt i will get them to pay for the wall? they will pay for the wall. >> i have known you for 25 years. i have known you. i have seen a lot. in the interest of full disclosure we have been friends a long time. your move to the right is scaring a lot of republicans. >> i don't think so. i was called by the new york times today. i am getting from everybody -- i am taking a lot from democrats. i am virtually tied with hillary clinton now. leading republicans in that respect. i have senior piece on hillary. she has big problems. we will see what happens. we are doing really well and we are trauing from -- remember we had the tea party which i love by the way. these are great people. we have everybody. they thought it would be more from the tea party. it is the tea party but it is ever everybody straight across the board. it is resinating. >> it is resinating. in fact you are going to be on the cover of time magazine. are you surprised at how this whole thing as caught fire>> we >> i think the people in the country are tired of being ripped off by politicians who don't know what they are doing. they are there for one reason to get re-elected. they don't want to be taken advantage of by china. you look at every country, mexico both at the border and trade. japan. they sell cars by the millions. and we give them practically nothing you look at what's going on in vietnam now. it is a big trade. it's one-sided deal. i will bring in friends of mine that are greatest negotiators in the world. carl icon. it won't happen much longer. >> are you concerned about the jorge ramoses who crash you on a regular basis? >> i am suing univision for $500 million. i am suing them because what they did was an incredible thing. i am a good person with a contract. they violated a contract that i had with univision and i am suing them for $500 million so jorge ramos is going to pay a big price. >> let's talk about iraq and the oil. you say you would actually go in there and bomb the iraq oil fields in order to strike isis. >> say it a little differently. isis has become rich. a big part of that is oil. they have taken the oil we should have taken. we shouldn't have ever gone into iraq. i said that in 2004, 2003, we should never go into iraq. you are going to de stabilize the middle east. then i said if that happens. you have to look it up. routers 2004 in july. i said if that happens, and you know, look, it's a horrible thing we did but i am proud of the fact that i had the vision to say it. if that happens iran will take over iraq which is happening. somebody will take over the oil probably iran and the other people. who is the other group? it's isis. we have to kill, we have to get isis where the money is. where their money is they took over the oil. we should have kept the oil. >> here's the problem. you have the outgoing joint chiefs martin dempsey who says it will take 20-years. don't you think he has a sense -- >> martin dempsey is not exactly george patton. martin dempsey is not general douglas mcarthur f. you listen to him we are going to lose to isis. no you we are going to be very strong. if i win our military will be very strong. our vets will be taken care of. right now they are treated like third class citizens. they are going to be a great country again. >> let me ask about the "washington post" comparing you to putin. you have an ego. you want to make the country gate again. how do you feel about that? >> i think putin is somebody i would get along with. i actually think i would get along with him. i had a big event in moscow about two years ago. i think i would have a good relationship with putin. it's ridiculous what's happening. he hates obama. i think obama probably can't stand him either. the relationships we have all through out the world not only with russia but with everybody is terrible. china can't stand us yet they are making a fortune with us. japan -- nobody likes us. we are all taking advantage. we are like the big bully that y a paper tiger. time. let's talk about the campaign. you are new to politics, donald, but the truth is you are so on message, you are so into branding your message make america great again, yaur hats are selling out. where did you learn this discipline? >> i guess it's an instinctive, but the real instinct is i know what it takes to make the country great and people understand -- the public is really smart. they understand it. when the politicians, hillary makes a mistake they go back to the pollsters and they say what did they say wrong? is when jeb bush says he's not going to help women on women's health issues. i say i can't believe he said that. he comes back later says he misspoke. >> little too often. >> he is doing it all of the time. they go back to their pollsters. i say it like it is. sometimes i say it and i say this isn't going to be good to say and i know that but i am going to say it anyway because it's the truth. people want to hear the truth. >> let's talk about the ways you are campaigning, you are putting things on instagram and social media. you go after hillary. it is a different kind of campaign. >> i am a very modern person. on twitter like i have millions and millions of people at real.org. i have millions of people. the message gets across. facebook, twitter, instagram. i have many millions of people. it is a great way to communicate. >> with one particular ad you go after hillary. you have gotten past the primary in wrur mind. are you going after hillary? >> there are 17 people running as republicans. of the 17 there are four or five that could conceivably win i would say. i think people will start dropping out pretty soon. the i think i was most complemented by the ones that attacked me are the ones that are doing the worse. they have all gone down the tubes. >> what do you think about the american people? >> i love the american people. they are great. but they are not allowed to do what they want to do. they are holding back in incredible energy between regulations and truly stupid leadership in washingtoning ton. when we release it we will be great again. >> i want to talk about donald trump the father. people don't look at you as a dad. you have three adult children who are incredibly successful. unlike most of the kids they don't have any run ins with the law they come to work every day. no problems with drugs or alcohol. they come to fox without an entourage no drama. what do you attribute the success of your children? >> i have five wonderful children. they are good students. i am lucky or whatever it is it takes. they are good students. they love the adult children donnie, ivanka and eric. they love what they are doing and they do it well. >> don't you give yourself some credit for that? >> i do. i was always very strong, no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. i have seen it where kids get stuck, friends of mine, successful guys some cases very successful. they have children that are smart but they are stuck on drugs. there's one thing i could tell the kids is no drinking of any consequence -- no drinking and no drugs. i always throw in cigarettes. if you can avoid the cigarettes that's a very good thing. >> in the 25 years i have known you i have never known you to drink alcohol. why? >> i don't drink. my brother was an alcoholic. handsome. the life of the party. he was an incredible guy, but he died of alcoholism. when he would be with me -- he was quite a bit older than me. he would always lecture me. i don't want you to drink. big agency difference. he had such potential. the most handsome, the best personality of everybody better than me. really just a great guy. alcohol destroyed him. i have heard it destroy so many people. he was a great example to me. he worked hard. he would always tell me no drinking. he would say no cigarettes, too. a oo who is your mentor? who are the heros? >> he was a terrific negotiator. i would watch him. he didn't teach me per se he didn't say this is the way we would do it as i was sitting down-playing with blocks i would be hearing him negotiating with a plumber or electrician or somebody. like the deal we are making with iran, how incompetent it is, how grossly incompetent. our negotiators are so bad. it is unconceivable to me. >> what about the fact that your sister who is kind of an outed mary an circuit court of appeals judge. that's one court down from the united states supreme court. what does she think of your running? >> i have a sister who was a tremendous person. she was a great student. he was a brilliant student. she was a brilliant person. she is a high ranking federal judge she never did publicity she just doesn't want that: they did a beautiful story the other day in the new york times and she doesn't want to be quoted. it is great. like i said, are you sure we have the same parents? she is a terrific person and she is doing really well. >> that's just the beginning. coming up... >> apologize like a disgusting little weak pathetic baby. find out who he was talking about. and the black lives matter moment. i get trump to open up about the woman who could be first lady his wife milan yaw. part 2 of my interview is next. at at&t we monitor our network traffic so we can see things others can't. mitigating risks across your business. leaving you free to focus on what matters most. heart health's important... ...so you may... take an omega-3 supplement... ...but it's the ingredients inside that really matter for heart health. new bayer pro ultra omega-3 has two times the concentration of epa and dha as the leading omega-3 supplement. new bayer pro ultra omega-3. you think your car smells fine, but your passengers smell this eliminate odors you've gone noseblind to for up to 30 days with the febreze car vent clip break out the febreze, and breathe happy. and when you bundle your home and auto insurance through progressive, you'll save a bundle! [ laughs ] jamie. right. make a bad bundle joke, a buck goes in the jar. i guess that's just how the cookie bundles. now, you're gonna have two bundles of joy! i'm not pregnant. i'm gonna go. [ tapping, cash register dings ] there you go. [ buzzing ] bundle bee coming! it was worth it! saving you a bundle when you bundle -- now, that's progressive. melania. >> democratic presidential candidate martino mal me when confronted by months from protestors from the group black lives matter said all lives matter. o'malley then apologized for that comment. take a look. >> i believe what i first said was black lives matter before the other two phrases. when i said those other two phrases i meant no disrespect. the subject came up from my sit down with donald trump. you are about to watch page 2 of the interview where we talk about the black lives water movement as well as the hectic busy life of a presidential candidate. >> you are every where. you don't look tired. why? >> because i am enjoying it. it is nice to be number one. we are going to set the nation on a new course. it is going to be brilliant. it is going to be so good again. people are so discouraged when you look at what's going on in baltimore and ferguson and st. louis and all of the things. >> how are you going to resolve it? >> the one thing i said you know what he's inexperienced. he doesn't know a lot about -- he never produced a job. the one thing he is going to be a great unifier. he had a chance to be a great unifier and instead he has been a great divider. the country does not have spirit. we are not proud any more. we to be proud again. >> i would support law enforcement. you have to you can always have bad apples on television. it is horrible and disgusting. law enforcement does an incredible job. the entire evening they ripped the city apart it will take 20-years to get it back the way they do it. you have to grab hold of your law enforcement and make sure they do a good job. they have to be tough. you have to remember i said it you are always going to have bad apples. no matter where you go you are always going to have bad apples. we have to support law enforcement. >> what about the black lives matter? >> i am seeing lots of bad stuff about it right now. i thought when o'malley said it black lives matter all lives matter then he apologized like a little baby. like a disgusting little weak pathetic baby. that's the problem with our country. when you say politically correct i think it's politically incorrect what they did. when i asked him to apologize because he thought he was going to get publicity. when i watch that whole thing going on, and how they are pan derring, i think it's a disgrace. >> one of the things that americans see in you is someone who digs his heels in and doesn't apologize for the politically incorrect>> how can you apologize when you say black lives matter or white lives matter, all lives matter which is true. then you get angry because white and all they don't want you to mention that. what is there to apologize for? >> jury duty, you were excused. you wouldn't write down that you were a politician. >> i am in the real estate business. i am a politician. n]2btuuuuuuuuuuuuuu1$xd9uuuuuuuq s approved going through new york city zoning where i have to deal with people that are to put it mildly very difficult. i have been in politics all my life for a long time. many years. you have leadership. ronald reagan got along with tip o'neil. they got things done. i don't need executive orders. that will happen with me, too. >> in congress you can take them to the golf course and show them a way of life they have never seen before. >> when obama plays golf i think it's fine. he should be playing with boehner and people wthat are going to help him close the deal as opposed to be playing with friends. he might enjoy that even more. you can use golf as a tool. he should have used it as a tool. he would have signed far fewer in my opinion executive orders. >> finally vice president. >> well, just too soon. >> as you look at the field the other 16 o 17 is there any one in the field they start building you up and agree wiing with you. do you see a potential vp candidate among those other radio pub ca-- republicans? >> there are others i have great respect for on the stage where we just left where they gave me number one rating. that made me feel good. frankly, there are people that i have great respect for there and elsewhere. on that stage i have people i have great respect for. >> are you going to focus on the swing states? >> i am going to focus on the whole country on making our country great. that is what we have to do. i am not going to focus on any specific state. i go to new hampshire and iowa. new hampshire number one. texas came in i am number one. i am number one in florida. >> what gives you confidence? >> i don't think it's confidence. i believe in what i am doing. i believe so strongly in what i am doing. our country, i love my company and my children and we have fun. i built a great country. then my financials are far greater than any one thought possible. it is an amazing company. it has great cash flow. it has the best properties. there is something much more important. that's the country. i just think i am going to do a great job. when you say confidence i believe in what i am saying. we can turn this country around and create jobs. we had 93 million people you think employ unemployed. we have 93 million. millions and millions of people on food stamps. p a terrible situation going on with this it is a phony reporting system where they could say 5.4. it could be 40 percent. the actual number could be 40 percent that nobody wants to report it. i saw a report that said 42 percent. i always said 21, 22 percent unemployment. we can take the jobs back from japan, mexico, china. nabisco shouldn't be moving to mexico. they should be building a new plant in our country. >> melania. >> she is beautiful, she is glassy, she is stunning. i know her. when is america going to get a real look at melania and she is an incredibly -- >> she is a tremendous person. >> she was a very successful person she will be an amazing first lady. i don't care if you are president but she has to be first lady. interesting little statement to state. >> she is a beautiful person. but she is a beautiful person in the heart. she cares tremendously about women's health issues. she is just a great -- you know her very well. she is a tremendous person. people will love her when they get to know her. >> my thanks to gop presidential candidate donald trump for a very revealing interview. next we talk about it with former senator scott brown. sheriff david clark his take on trump's comments on the black
