The place where you are wrong is because social media like facebook and twitter are where the sites get a lot of referrals from. If this is true it affects the bottom line of places that cant get their stuff out there like conservative websites. Even if you set the bias aside the first is transparency. If you tell them something is being done by an algorithm there is an expectation it wont be a bias. When you Say Something is trending, when you use the word trending, there is an expectation that it is trending, ie being talked about and not that some employee has decided it is something you should be talking about. Be honest. You have to tell people you are letting the human does this and stop calling it trending and call it stories we think you should care about. And then, fine, those problems go away and until you do that, it is dishonest. Strangely, let me defend facebook here. Stories were trending, but they werent trending on facebook. If they saw something on twitter they dont want to be the uncool sight so they goofed it a little bit. That was part of the inclination. I was in a play called daddy goodness and we are doing the show and i was trying to break in with no success. I had a really bad experience with an agent and i met a girl at a party. After seeing this agent who just broke my heart and told me to go back to detroit and it is never going to happen. The agent is telling you it is the agent is like, forget it. Go back to detroit.
