Officers fired tear gas at protesters who were setting fires and setting bottles and shooting off fireworks at the Law Enforcement. The city has declared a state of emergency. The governor has activated the national guard. Yesterday, kenoshas mayor tried speaking to the crowd but they werent receptive. Watch. They chanted jacob blakes name in solidarity as they took to the street for the 89th straight night. No one here thinks that this period of violence is about to end. Behind me the county courthouse that is the focus of fence. This is too dangerous because of the amount of the offensive graffiti on the wall and the dumpsters burned here. But people of kenosha waking up again today to see the results of the devastation. Several businesses burned down last night. Many of those Business Owners obviously wondering what on earth their business has to suffer from. In the name of police reform. The fires were set by the members of crowd of several hundred gathered here at the county courthouse. They defied an 8 00 p. M. Curfew set by the Kenosha Police. In defying that curfew that is the moment they started to slow fireworks on the police line. The police replied with the volleys of tear gas. All of this, of course, the result of the shooting of 29yearold jacob blake. The famous video we have now all seen so many times shows blake reaching or leaning in if to his vehicle. Police officer tugging at his shirt. Then we hear seven shots fired in to the back of jacob blake. There is another angle that we got, shot a few moments before that. It shows blake involved in some sort of scuffle on the ground with the police officers. Breaking free from them and then heading around the car. That is when the other video picks up, of course. We see him being shot. What we are not going to see in this investigation at any point, harris, any Police Body Camera footage. We understand that the Kenosha Police department was given the budget for the body cams a couple years ago but decided not to spend the money on them. So none of the officers involved were wearing body cameras. Harris . Harris what did they do with the money they didnt spend on the body cam . Do we know . We dont know specifically where that particular chunk of money went, harris. Obviously they felt they had other priorities and did not want to prioritize body cameras.
