Thats given fire crews the ability to go in with helicopters and really attack this hillside, trying to knock these flames down. They have really done a great job. Weve seen the smoke di min y, over the last couple of hours. This is a far different scene than weve seen the past couple of days when weve been on the front lines, when the winds were blowing the hardest. Take a look at what weve been seeing. Themes flames are racing down the hillside, being pushed by the pierce winds we see throughout the course of the day. On the west side of the railroad tracks, but the reason why theyre such a big problem right now, is this is Pacific Coast highway. You can see firefighters coming up right now, theyre going to put this hot spot out. The real problem here is, weve seen fire crews up and down pch, this is really a very dangerous game of whack a mole. They have to go down one area, put the flames up, then another hot spot come out. And weve seen it throughout the course of the past couple of days. The firefighters are exhausted but doing everything they can. To protect communities like this. We had two new fires break out yesterday, including that one in san diego county, that burned 65 structures. Also hit a horse training facility. Weve learned that more than two dozen horses died in that fire. Showing you that this just doesnt affect residents but animals as well. Now, again, thankfully the winds have died down here in venture a county. But theyre supposed to pick up and be strong throughout the course of the weekend. Harris good morning, good afternoon on the east coast. Thinking about you out there. I want to know what the shelter situation looks like now. When you move upwards of 200,000 people whether theyre heeding evacuation ooshz or on their own, what does that look like for the resources that youre deploying right now . Are. Well, we have got a lot of good cooperation from the public in following our evacuation orders. So that enables the firefighters to get in and fight the fires engage it where they can do it safely and effectively. Shelters have been opting, we have about six of them operating during the course of the fire. The populations are starting to drop down and we are knee a transition phase. Were looking, where we can safely allow people to return to the burn areas. Harris talk about where this is spreading. I told our audience from what i could see on the map and im familiar with Santa Barbara, went to college up there at ucsb. When they started evacuations, mostly that was for smoke. But tell me where this fire line stretches, with these six different fires. We have a map up for people, too. The main areas of concern on thomas incident are up the california coastline, right near the ventura and Santa Barbara county line. Theyre also northwest of ojai, the fire has hookled around the ojai valley itself and moving up into the canyon area. Also, to the east between the cities of santa paula and fillmore, the fire is moving up into the Las Padres National Forest in those areas. Those are the two main areas of concern. Are you getting other states to help you snout whats happening . Resources are coming throughout the state of california, but also from other states. Those winds are predicted to be coming up again throughout the weekend. Even possibly another wind event on in to next week. So, we wanted people to continue to respect those evacuation orders that are in place, although conditions are improving momentarily. Real tender spots, if you will, vulnerable to the flames. Those are under tlept right now. Under threat. And theres a combined unified command with the forest service, many agencies, throughout the area addressing the fire. And the fire moving up into the forest and the wilderness area. Sure, the democrats are going to continue to bring that you. But, look, lets be clear daca and immigration, we have got to fix that problem, not only daca but border security, having an imgrapgs system that works for our economy, that protects our american citizens. And i believe that we can get there. I do not believe that needs to be tied tofully spending deal and i dont think its appropriate that the democrats are willing to shut the government down over that. Its an important issue. What we know right now, is that many of the priorities of america are in the appropriations bill and its imperative that the senate take those up, imperative hah we get a budget cap deal done, and most importantly its important that we get tax reform done for the American Economy and the american citizen. Harris that brings me to, do you think democrats will try this one thing to the next, try to get in the idea that maybe they can get some of their spending bill wishes in, by putting some pressure on the tax reform conversation, too. Even though, i mean, you dont need their votes. But you do for the spending bill. Well, we certainly dont for the tax reform bill. Im confident that the good work thats going on in the conference committee, is going to lead to a product that really provides great relief to the middle class and really transforms the may American Business operates on the global stage. I really think that thats good for america. Youre right, we dont need it for the tax bill and we should push forward on that. As far as the spending bill goes, again, if our conference sticks together, which yesterday we showed that we could, on the house floor, i believe Going Forward that were going to be in a very, very strong position, leadership has a strong negotiation, a strong negotiating position, and i believe that we can get a bending bill done that makes sense for america. Most important in all of that, is funding our national security. Making sure that our troops get a pay raise, making sure that the men and women that are serving this nation actually have the tools and the resources they need to defend this nation around the world. Talk about this backlash. Al franken, resigned, i think democrats got him to do the right tling. Al franken didnt admit to any wrongdoing other than the first photo where he puts his hands close if not on the chest of a woman sleeping. He says that some of these allegations did not happen or he remembers them differently. Hes sending this message out, that he resigned over false accusations. Thats a bad message to send. We should belief those allegations because theyre numerous, credible, and serious in nature. For al franken to send the message that men can be railroaded or run out of their jobs over false accusations does not help the case, the effort to get rid of sexual harassers, sexual abusers. Harris what i just realized while you were talking, this makes him look like, makes him want to look like the victim rather than the actual victimles. What hes doing is circumventing the Ethics Committee investigation as i understand it, depending on when he exits. We wont get to see the outcome of that, will we . Rich lowry, National Review made that point yesterday, if franken is honestly believes that he is innocent of all of these charges of groping and unwanted kissing he should face down the ethics xhipt. They should hold hearings, have testimony, he should chance to face his accusers, not to have it tried in the press. If hes really innocent. If he wants to admit wrongdoing and resign thats the right thing on do. That is likely the truth, there are so many accusations. And one instance of groping or unwanted kissing is enough on get you fired from private life. Should be enough to cause the resignation or getting fired are public service. One of his accusers is about to come forward to say that that yearbook writing what she was talking about, that the judge had written that proved the case of the allegations that she madesing a as a younger girl were true that, she in her own hand writing added at least the date on to that. The significance, you think . I think there is a substantive significance and political significance. Substantive is not great, i was in alabama, i looked at this and talked to the moore campaign. Its obvious from the beginning these are two different hand writing, two different scripts, i interest have wrote in an article a week ago. It says roy Moore Christmas 1977 and the specific date and the location in a different handwriting this were a forgery, you would expect the forger to forge it all one handwriting.
