what is going on in china? >> well, thomas friedman has been wrong, so has klaus schwab head of world economic forum who said that china was a model for the developing world, they are wrong, we've seen the fire on the 24th. immediately there were protests, they were not coordinated. people were on the streets. they were on streets protesting covid rules which cosaid down with xi jinping, and down with the communist party. the mood on the streets in china, is they realize the root cause of the problems is the communist party, the system does not work. and if they thought about it, they would have said, thomas friedman is wrong. mark: yeah, "new york times," and cnn, have both praised the communist chinese handling of the pandemic. which was to basically set up these camps. and to put fences and barbed wire around towns and cities to you talk about that fire that killed several people, including children, they welded the doors shut. and they say, they believe in zero tolerance. this is a country that would not communicate with us what the virus broke out, costing lives of one million americans. the people are taking to the street, what will reaction be? give them a little bit of room or crush them? >> there are two things, on november 11, the regime announced 20 relaxation measures, which were not enforced. or implemented. also, there are hints and reports that the regime is also f go through another round of relaxing a of covid measures, probably they will not be implemented. other thing we have seen the videos of the masked concentration facilities, they say they are for quarantines, they can't be, i think that is to control the chinese people, this is gone beyond disease control to point of being able for communist party to make sure that the people are actually imprisoned. mark: i agree 100%. the facilities they are building, they almost remind you of the buildings they had in third reich. they are not attended to make people comfortable. so you are thinking, they will round up people they believe or suspect or political opponents, who are protesters, and put them in these camps? is that your thinking? >> yes, as well as ordinary chinese. because these facilities are much too large for disease purposes. the one in -- houses about two 50 thousand people, if they were worried about disease, they would be building icu rooms across the country. hospitals are well behind the curve, that is one of the reasons why i think china will have a very difficult time coming out of covid. even if they relax measures, they don't have the hospital facilities that are necessary to handle a surge. china probably will have a ssurge of covid for various reasons. >> xi jinping is hanging on for his political life, and his life, he has taken iron-fisted control. he cannot allow this to get out of control. >> i think she in trouble. -- i think he is in trouble. he cemented his position with communist party last month, the communist party itself was losing control for chinese society, he has grabbed power from everyone else, that means he has nobody el to blame right now, his domestic policies have failed across the board, it is also in the economy. we see the disastrous plunge in property prices and other manifesting as of economic failure, the concern for united states, to escape flame for pros lem -- problems at home he will try to distract the people with some military adventure aboard. there have been very dangerous intercepts in the global commons thats that could end up in an accident with an american bookbook, or a plan. mark: former secretary of state mike pompeo. listen. >> it is my contention, i might be wrong, you wrote a fantastic piece called china and economic security. in shadow of ukraine, it is broader than that. my concern is china as you point out is preparing for war. we're preparing for nothing. what do you make of this? >> yes, i think that is true. some sense, in some places i think it is worse than that, we're moving backwards, we have moved wokism and inclusion to top of your national security interests and clim climate clachange at top of that. instead of what we've been doing for the prior 4 years. we got deterrents right in the classic model of peace through strength, how we took down soviet union in 1990s. that is a historic press at the prde precedent that america has walked away from. instead of using real power of america. the threat from the chinese communist party is perhaps greater than that of soviet union. our economic interests, if you are a machine shop worker in wichita, kansas they impact you, what happens in kyiv or moscow does not stay there, we have to get it right, to protect our nation, and make sure that we have the opportunity to continue to be a prosperous. mark: we have a president who doesn't rally the nation, a president that doesn't work with congress to build up our military congress. on its own trying to build up that military, you can see chinese is on the move. unless you are an ostrich with your head in the sand, whether west africa or the salomon islands or the panama canal. the south china sea, they have really iron fist on right now, preparing to invade taiwan, they have destroyed hong kong, and putting a lot of resources into a lot of countries to take their ports if they can. they are threatening the philippines and vietnam and threatening south korea, and threatening japan. what is about this administration, are they really that stupid? >> president obama talked about pivoting to asia, did nothing, that president said we're back, they are back to the fecklessness of challenging the chinese communist party, on this one, i think there are three things, first you have a president who is unwilling to use the power that american has, our economic might to protect the themes that matter. you rip new a list of things, ports across the world that is true. don't forget the des decimation, inflicted pa because of wuhan virus, and billions of wealth stope en from the chinese communist party, i think in party, they don't see it because part of climate change folks . first person to meet with president xi jinping was former secretary of state keri john kerry. the climate guy. does not give xi jinping any h heartburn to lie to john kerry. there are a lot of greedy companies making a lot of money working alongside chinese communist party today, whether it is hollywood or our technology companies, or even financial institutions, they are working in china in ways that are detrimental to people of united states i think that biden administration is allowing them to do that, in ways they have to know hurt ordinary americans. >> you know mr. secretary, maybe i'm getting too old, i remember a day when corporations were patriotic, a day when athletes would leave their positions on a team to join the u.s. military. today they trash the country. they make a fortune with our enemy, china whether it is sneakers or jerseys, same with corporations like apple and coca-cola and others. mark: ra after the break, michael pillsbury with the danger to china brings to the u.s. we'll be right back. cole hauser is an award winning actor who has starred in good will hunting too fast, too furious and the current hit show yellowstone. beyond his impressive career, he is a proud supporter of the tunnel to towers foundation. i was able to spend some time with cole and his family to reflect on those who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedom. i know how much you care about america and our veterans and all the things. but you have such a platform now. yeah. and to share that with us that we need to get the word out that we have to take care of these great heroes and their families. you know, as i started to be more and more successful, i was like, how can i help?
