About 11 23 this morning a white male adult entered the shabbat template 1634 shabbat way in poway california. This individual had in ar type assault weapon and opened fire on the people inside the synagogue. During the shooting for individuals were wounded and transported to palomar hospital. Sadly one of the individuals succumbed to their ones. The other three are in stable condition at palomar. As the suspect was fleeing the temple and offduty Border Patrol agent opened fire on the suspect but apparently it did not hit him but struck a car in the area. The people at palomar a female juvenile in stable condition and two adult males are in stable condition. Sadly an older female has died and succumbed to her wounds. The suspect was surely taken into custody and i will turn it over to the chief from the San Diego Department to give you the details of that arrest. Good afternoon. As this incident was unfolding a San Diego Police officer k9 officer was en route to the scene and he was monitoring the Police Departments dispatch and the sheriffs dispatcher and heard the call and started making his way toward his call. As he was en route he also overheard chp scanner of the suspect who was called and the chp to report that he was involved in the shooting at his location which was Rancho Bernardo on interstate 15. The officer was exiting the freeway he clearly saw the suspect in his vehicle. The suspect pulled over and jumped out of his car with his hands up and was immediately taken into custody by the Police Department as the officer was placing this 19yearold male into custody he clearly saw a rifle sitting on the front passenger seat of the suspect vehicle in the suspect as i said was taken into custody without further incident.
