i like coming down to the pier, especially today with the wasp. because that's fleet week. all of us were the marines. i was on the watch back in 93, because i'm old now being back home. i mean, i'm a local from new jersey. so being back here being able to have summer again , you know, c everyone out and about in the city. the beautiful weather that means a lot. it's the unofficial start of summer as you say, and, but it's you know, we related to barbecues and having a good time, but it should be a day that you know people understand that it's because of the veterans that have gone before us that we're able to do what we do. doing today. it's a great country america. bye. that was cute. joining me now the kick off the summer season jessica tarlov as well as tyrus , with all that lingered on yahoo want to. i want to get your reaction to this poll out of the wall street journal said that 38% of the people that responded to this post that patriotism was very important. and only 39% said that religion was very important. um just cause does that surprise you that not only patriotism is under attack, but it seems like religion as well in the sense of people just aren't that patriotic anymore, and they're not that religions. well the decline in organized religion has been going on for a long time. it's been replaced for a lot of people. if you look at the breakdown in the polls, especially on the democratic side with spirituality that people actuave an an increase in the amount of spirituality in their lives, and i think that that's a wonderful thing like i myself am a reformed jew, but i believe more in that there's something else going on. i don't know exactly what it is whether it manifested sometimes sometimes in fate, making sure that the right things happen. things like that so that makes a lot of sense to me. in terms of patriotism. i think that we have a really difficult time defining what that means for people, and obviously there is not the same faith in our institutions. we talked about that constantly on our political, uh, chat shows and things like that, but that we don't have a unanimous view of what patriotism means. and so i think that that turns into responding that people aren't necessarily patriotic when there are definitely things about the country that they're proud of, but also some things that they're not and that they're questioning tires. i think to sum it up. we've become too successful because when you talk about religion, religion is kind of been declined because people of religion is being fallen to other things. it's like everyone's kind of built their tents if they're in the politics to where they're they're who they vote for is their new religion or in function like sports teams or participation, so there is no religion takes dedication. it takes accountability and sacrifice, hard work and we've become we've become spoiled, and it's the same thing with patriotism. they don't feel there's really you can say i don't like this country. you can say this country is systemic rate. you can say all these things, and there's no consequences for it, and there's very little threats of what they're claiming. so i think it's more of accountability and responsibility are in decline, and it's just you see it in different things now, but we need to get back to those things because here's the i'm not a religious man at all. i'm more of a science guy, but i respect the moral codes that come from religion and i have no problem even though i might not want to go sit in the church, but the message is that's going on and the generally being kind to each other and following those rules, i can respect those, and i think it's important to have especially in our schools. you're seeing a huge difference, just respect and getting back to where we need. so uh, is it patriotism and stuff declined as we knew it. growing up. things were different. we're growing up. now. we're just very spoiled and there's no reason if you pledge allegiance to the flag, there's something wrong with you used to be that way. everyone did it, regardless of who you were, because you were we had to be ready for what was next circumstance or whoever was the leader. you still love the country. it's so true. um so there's a big debate about beer, and we all like to drink. i think, uh, so i asked the folks what are they drinking from? memorial day watch. but lighter miller like yeah. miller lite. another light. yeah i know. but like, no, no, no more bud light. low light. go, miller light the light. but really my only two options. miller lite. no, i must go to shadow bordello. you heard her light rum. you know, i hate to be cliche. i hate to say this for water for me. choice bud light and miller leighton miller lite by but light is just bud light. they do not respect their customers anymore. what are you drinking? we shouldn't be doing it. >> this is a problem. this particular issue is just horrendous. taking a machete out and taking it to a reporter's neck. so i just thought that was outrageous. when you mutt that with how she was threatening those students who just have pamphlets, finally that's going to occur. it only took videotape to do it. we have a bigger problem on college campuses. we have professors who are so tied into their ideology that they cannot allow for any other thought to ma industry cue late. they do not want debate. they don't want to have a disagreement and go through the process of discovery and explanation. they they just want you to fall in line. if you don't fall in line, then they lash out by using a machete or suppressing speech on college campuses. both are very destructive of the country. lawrence: so true, congressman. you are a great messenger for liberty. i appreciate you coming on the program tonight. now back to the growing battle for 2024. another week and another round of candidates have joined the race on the gop side with even more to come. all have supporters so we ask you what you are looking for in this election. watch. >> right now i would say desantis, he's playing a nice game of chess the way he's doing things in florida. do i agree with him? >> a couple of things. first of all, i like my option. i don't believe any poll even when it says what i like. even when it says what i want it to say. i just don't believe in the polls any more. a good example is the polls that came up saying there would be a huge sea of red, a tsunami they said. and that didn't happen. and that's not going to happen in the next election either. there won't be a tsunami of red. real quickly, leslie, i think this is an important conversation to have. do you believe 70% of americans who feel like we are heading down the wrong path with joe biden? >> if i believed that then i have to believe the more than 60% or 60%, depending on which poll you look hat of americans who don't believe donald trump should run again. there are people right now, back rooms hoping it's ron desantis, but fear it will be donald trump. they will back him and vote for him and hold their nose again like they did in 2016. there are democrats who wish joe biden wouldn't run again but they will vote for him when they see what the alternatiave is, especially when it's reproductive rights. when they see what th alternative is, and they are not as happy with the way things are in their america. lawrence: i want to go over to the republican side, ron desantis had a rollout this week. a little choppy and boring in my opinion. when he did this interview with trey he started to present some of the issues. but i still don't think it's enough to go against that trump base. it seems like the republican party at its core is still on the trump train. >> i would say we are til very, very early. trump is still enjoying a sugar high. i would push back against claims that the twitter rollout will have any impact on governor desantis. the news cycle is so fast nobody is going to remember there was a glitchy rollout. as long as he rights the ship going forward trump has vulnerabilities on the right. he will have to answer why he empowered fauci and locked down the country. and why he signed the first step act and allowed hordes of criminals out on the streets. he will have to explain why he nominated his children into senior positions in his administration. we'll see if that begins to dent the trump base. >> those are fair points to bring up in debate. but all that stuff is out there. we are talking 50% of republican voters are still going with donald trump. >> we'll see. i think most americans aren't paying attention right now to the granular details. trump has universal name i.d. but americans need to get acquainted with ron desantis. they don't know about his record as governor in florida. he turned red areas -- blue areas like miami-dade county. and trump lost by 7 million votes and lost states like arizona and georgia which republicans don't normally lose. lastly, i want to get your reaction to oprah being considered for dianne feinstein's seat. leslie, is that the way to go? >> first of all i love you, lawrence. i do live in california, but that's not the way to go because it's not happening. a couple of things here, first are of all, oprah winfrey would go for a much higher seat. second of all, our governor gavin newsom said he would pick a woman of color and specifically an african-american woman. he did say black woman. he would pick a woman with more experience. there are a number of those in our state to pick from already. miss winfrey is great at what she does but she doesn't have a political background. and i think she would want a bigger slot in the senate. >> i like oprah. i have to agree with leslie. it's probably not going to happen. but there may be some validity in considering it. she came in with 100% approval rating. and she could be a place holder. >> i just love that we are selecting candidates by their skin color. i don't know if anything is more racist than deciding on someone based on the way they look. i like for them to be selected on merit. coming up as millions plan their summer vacations, could an organized crime ring be watching your home just waiting for you to leave? why is there so much red tape? >> that's a great question. thanks for having me. you know, i'm not 100% sure because i'm not privy to a lot of information. but what i do know and have experienced multiple times on my account and the accounts of hundreds of dms i have gotten recounting situations, if you want to see a mental health providers outside of the va because you put yourself in my shoes where you go through five and six providers for a multitude of different reasons and you decide you want to find somebody in your community and have a couldn't newt of care that you generally have to go through your primary care provider. and then they will go ahead and go through and push you off to community care. and community care can take up to two weeks for them to contact you. then they will push off the referral to your respective clinic. then you have to wait for that clinic. and make an appointment potentially two, three, four weeks, depending on how busy they are. start to finish if it goes as planned you won't be able to find a couldn't newt of care and have that safety net if somebody has an established practice and owned a home in the area and is a mixture of that communities. >> you have been so vulnerable. you took a big step by posting this video. it's no different from what i hear from tier 1 operators when they come home. it's the same thing. what do you think it will take to fix this problem? >> i don't -- you know, we are talking about red tape at the va. but i know there is a lot of red tape in congress and the senate. i'm not sure what it would take, and i'm not sure the current bodies of power have the ability to make the changes that are necessary to affect veterans for real change. i don't know if that's even possible. but what i do know is at a very minimum, you know, putting this conversation on the table will hopefully get the ball rolling in the right direction. my experience is not special. it happens hundreds of times a day that veterans are told they can't see their primary mental health providers any longer and are no longer authorized to go back to that individual. for as much as i know it's happening, i have never seen anybody share it on social media. >> it got my attention, joe. i made the commitment i'm going to do whatever i can have non-profit organizations to do what we can. thank you for being on the program. so is that a ufo or something else? this video adds to the speculation that we are not alone in this universe. the investigative journalist who released the video joins me next. lawrence: are we alone in the universe? that question just got more complicated. new footage shows a mysterious light over a military base in california in 2021. he's with us to explain. jeremy, how do you explain this footage and what sort of questions do you think we need to be asking? >> we are asking, this an exciting and open investigation. we don't know what was seen as the 29 palms military base. the marines are saying they saw a craft. however, the internet says they have saw flares, and there is a pretty compelling argument for that. this is an open source crowd sourcing with the military to say, hey, can we have more people come forward. there is such a stigma. but right now this an open case. we do know there are cases that are not open. we know for sure our government is studying the ufos. they said undeniably the ufos are real. we don't know where they are from, we don't no who pilots them and we don't know who built them. this one is about trying to get more information. lawrence: we asked the pentagon for a comments but we never heard bang from them. even if they gave us a response, would you believe them? >> everybody i talked with at the back up, they are pretty straightforward. they want to know, too. there are machines that fly in ways we cannot duplicate. nasa is going to have a conference on this soon. if we can solve it and it's flares, great. but the concerning thing for me is i know personally pilots are being asked to scrub their footage of unidentified, ufos. lawrence: who is telling them to do that? that goes back to my trust question. who is telling them to scrub their footage. >> it's unclear to me. sometimes people just wants to stay on mission and this is a hindrance. we need to elevate this to make sure there are proper reporting systems for our military personnel and service members. we have to heal that divide. lawrence: a new poll reveals 92% of ufo sightings take place in the united states. do the aliens love america?
