have we lost the red- faced and tear shedding sense of shame? when was the last time you heard a politician associated with humility and contriteness and brokenness or modesty? there seems to be a sense of blurring the lines between shame and fame. in fact, it is as if we have equated and elevated both characterization as if they are character qualities. in a culture that worships celebrity more than substance, we ought not be surprised those leaders of the political institutions are playing with the same rules of entertainment industry and sports. embarrassing and immoral behavior doesn't stop the public service. but validates one's humanity. and sayingim sorry wipes the slate clean with 100 percent name id. ego and raw ambition replaced the notion of serve hod. it goes to the brazen and self fuelled meglo maniacs. >> george washington had to be begged to be president and absolutely refuseed to make it a lifetime career. washington would not make the first cut of a modern-day primary that has one to acquire elija h syndrome. we don't so the jesus model. let this cup pass from me and not my will but yours be done. that's what political figures are, just that. as in action figures or artificial miniatures of the real thing. shame in the capacity to display the shame that we have is not a bad thing. it is it like humility. and it is a good thing and reveals that we know the difference of we right and wrong and utterly disgusted with ourselves when we fail. where there is no shame, all that is left is fame and that is a sorry substouts for character. this week we found out obama care provision and put the cap on annual out of pocket cost of co-pays and deductibles. it is just the latest in obama care delays and includes the man date on employers to provide health cares for workers who work more than 30 hours a week. irs employees asked to be exempted and members of congress and their staff have begun to get a break from the impact. but not from you. but even congressional workers who don't want obama care, who does? joining me is austin goldsby who was an economic advisor to president obama when obama care was passed. austin, thank you. >> it is an honor. >> thank you, ser. >> thank you for having me. >> we have seen so many delays and people who don't want obama care. interestingly it is the most invested irs workers who are going to administer it. and members of congress and their staff who wrote it and unions who pushed for it; are you still one of those folks who say i love the stuff? are you doing anything about it? >> we are, most people who ran for office and i don't know any that campaigned on boys and girls looker rooms and we filed a referundum. and let the people. california parents don't want this craziness and it creates an unsafe environment for all students. we went to privacy for all students opinion com, that's where they can get involved in the process. we have a short period of time to collect a large amount of signatures and we will need everyone to partner with us to get it done. >> i appreciate you being here and giving us a perspective firsthand from california. thank you very much for joining us. >> thank you for having me, governor. >> well, the abuse of pour in washington is getting out of control. can anything be done to stop it before it is too late. >> we hear a lot of how the government is trampleoth constitution and overextending its powers with obama care and nsa snooping. they figured one day it would have an overbearing federal government. they put in a provision and this is the subject of mark's bock called the liberty amendments. >> they left us a legacy and the second amendment process in the constitution which essentially bypasses congress and the federal government and gives the states the power collectively in a convention and not a constitutional convention. the convention for proposing amendments to the rest of the state. the constitution is not up for grabs any way than congress recommends it to the constitution. >> the states have the power to bypass congress and propose amendments. michael ferris has an idea. convention of states. it is it a plan on how to go forward with the idea. michael joins me now, great to see you here. >> mark lavine is ignited a fire in the conservatives and libertarians and the idea of the convention of the states. what is it and how does it happen? >> when 34 states make an application to call a convention to propose amendments. congress has to name the city and time when the convention begins and congress cannot say no. the states have the power to reign in the federal government and stop washington d.c. from abusing itself and all of us through the abusive power. >> you have put together to take mark's idea that he's getting attention for and which is exciting people, but now take it to the point of here's how we track it and do it. talk about the plan itself. how do you make it work? >> we need throw thousand legislative directs where people are volunteering. there are 34 states that are necessary in order to call the convention. and we want to work in 40 states or 42 states and try to get it to happen right away. i spoke to the exchange council and legislative sponsors and now we have citizen volunteers. they stand up and say we want the states to reign in d.c. it is up to the people and legislators and they joan with the conventions of state and we hired staff and got the mechanisms in place and got the legal documents drafted for the state legislators and we need people to tell them and call a convention of the states. that's the process. >> it is the topics that the states would be asked to put before the convention of states? >> anything that watches the dc power. tax limit aegz and term limits on congress and mark lavenes proposed curtailing the power of the supreme court by giving the states a method of overroadwaying it. and all of those things, the abuse of the excutive power and abuse of regularulatory power. anything that washington d.c. does is up for grabs, theit rights of the people would not be ger main in the convention or the power of the states would be ger main. all we are doing is time to reign in d.c. just like the provision in article five. >> this is mark lavine talking about neal cavuto on how to deal with obama care in such a way. >> the american people don't know what the law is about. >> i tried to figure it out. you work on it every day. they change the law on the run that is utterly unconstitutional. >> and so a convention of the states would be able to address obama care and other things that people feel are out of control. >> the abuse of the general welfare clause are two biggest problems in d.c. obama care came through the general welfare clause and environmental protection against in the commence clauses. it would be simple to rain it in and say if the state's can regulate the feds can't. if the states spend money the feds can't. that is the centerpiece of what needs to know done. and obama care would be gone. >> is this rolistic and doable? violence and attacks on journalist some of my friends and a very deep anti- western sentiment in egypt. it is a hostile and frankly deadly environment. >> have we really taken a side when we demanded mubarak step down and suggesting that the current government invite the muslim brotherhood to sit down and make nice. it is not rolistic. ncalling for negotiations between the military and group just removed from power is unrealistic and a total waste of u.s. influence. we should have focused on trying to get the military to let the brotherhood protest, but that was the lost of. it the attack and it is brotherhoods protest will inflame and spread the violence and we can expect things to get much worse because of the military's decision here. >> eric, one of the decisions that the brotherhood was thrown out of power along with morsi was brutal handling of secullarist and women and christians in egypt. we are not hearing a lot about that, how come? >> i don't know why. you raise an important point. 50 churches were attacked in the past few days. they are not protected by the police and state and that raises question marks. you are correct that the uprising against morsi and the coup was in response to the muslim brother hood's attempt to consolidate power for itself. >> americans are wondering why does it matter it me. it is halfway around the world. there is a connection. >> egypt is got 90 million people and in the heart of the middle east and shares the border with israel. if any country becomes a power vacum, that provides fertile ground for terrorist. one thing worth remembering. egypt has a special place in the mefrn imagination. it is in the boibl and ph a roa h. and egypt resonates more than tunissia and burma when we talk about evens most mu barak. >> if you had advice to give to president obama dealing with this crisis, what counsel would you suggest to him? >> keep your powder dry. bottom line, the conflict between the brotherhood and military is life or death for both of them and that is very hard to influence their behavior. i emphasize influence them right now. we may have leverage once again. we don't want to play the card of the military persecuted christian in a muslim country. they are both born to muslim families and arrested in 2009 and jailed in torans in the prison. they were sentenced to death. that is after witnessing the horrors of the prison. they were finally freed after continued international pressure and given asylum in the united states. it is told in the bock captive in iowa ran. joining me is the two women and so nice to have you both here. when i think of both of you being jailed and given death sentences and that you arine here is nothing short of a miracle. why would you put in prison and i will let you start. why were you put in prison with a death sentence? >> you know, we had a mission in iran, and we were in teheran and a few other cities. we were evafrjalizing iranian people every day. shopping or doing our chores, we are talking to them and handing them as a boibl. in iran there is a false and distorted version and they don't have access to the real bible. that is why we had the passion in our hearts to put the real bible in people's hands and we also had two house churches, one for prostitutes and the other one for young people in our own apartment. as you know, all of these activities are illegal in iran because no one is allowed to be with religion except for is lal. there was a report and the iranian government arrested us after finding out of our activities. >> you must have been totally frightened and didn't sound like you committed an act of violence. you gave out boibls and for that, you are begin a death sentence. >> the first day, we were so afraid because we are two human beings and it was a shock for us and they transferred us to the security police and threatened us with physical torture and we prayed for each other. the only thing that helpeditous survive was iranian government had to release us. >> i hope people get the book and read. it what you have done to encourage me and challenge me when i think of the two of you being placed under a death sentence modification of the justice department's charging policy so that certain low level nonviolent drug offenders who have no ties to large scale organizations, gangs or cartels will no longer be charged with sentence that's have draconian mandatory sentences. >> you're going to hear something pretty rare. so buckle up. i actually agree with what eric holder is attempting to get done. i don't necessarily agree with the way he is doing it. i don't think it ought to be done apart from legislation. that i think the representatives of the people should have a role. but we have created a system where we have put a whole lot of people in prison who really didn't belong in prison. they belonged in drug rehab. and as a governor who administered a state prison system for ten and a half years, i recall what our prison director had told me many times. we lock up a lot of people that we're mad at, rather than the people we're really afraid of. we need our prisons to be a place where we keep people locked up that could actually hurt us. not just people who were stoop and i had got into drugs and did not know how to handle it or get off it. and the cost of putting people in prison, in every state it costs more to put a person in prison for one year than to send them to a four-year college or university, pay all their tuitions, expenses, room, books, and expense money. it is not sensible. so on that you'll be surprised. the attorney general and i actually agree on something. mark it down. well, this week you two singer bono talked about ending poverty. many celebrities talk about that but they don't really do anything about it. but bono offered a solution that might surprise you. >> commerce is real. that's what you're about here. it is real. aid is just a stop-gap. commerce, entrepreneurial capitalism takes more people out of poverty than aid, of course we know that. a rock star preaches capitalism. wow! sometimes i hear myself. i just can't believe it. >> well, appreciate the fact that he recognizes that ultimately, it is about bringing people up into an economy in which they can be self-sustaining that makes it all work. and for that, i give him my huck's hero of the week. bono, who is not just a rock star. he is just a star. on the first day of his all deaf digital youtube page, russell simmons released a parity sex tape starring harriet tubman. that's right. the woman who escaped slavery and rescued hundreds of slaves using safe houses known as the underground railroad. outrage at the tape caused simmons to remove the video from his youtube page. but our own fox news contributor says that the hip hop mogul ought to be punished. he tweeted this and i quote. russell simmons' net worth is north of $300 million. numerous advertisers sent money to his site at global grind. he needs to be paula deened. for that comment, thanks for telling it like it is. the fact is paula deen shouldn't have been paula deened for something she said 30 years ago that was not intended to be hurtful and for which she apologized. i'm glad russell simmons pulled it. but i'm also glad to see even a good democrat and liberal like him calls it straight and calls out people regardless of who they are and what their view may politically be. thank you for being a good, fair player in the game. there was a lot of outrage to that rodeo clown who wore an left were angered that someone would say such things with that our president calling it racist. the naacp even called for a full review of the rodeo clown by both the secret service and the justice department. oh, remember the movie, point break? the scene where they put on masks of presidents reagan, nixon, carter and johnson? they grab some guns and hold up a bank? no one was ever outraged over that. but let's take a look at something harry reid was quoted saying back in 2008 in the book game change. he, reid, was wowed by obama's oratorical gifts and he believes that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate. especially one such as obama here called a quote, light-skinned african-american with no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one, as he later put it privately. end quote. can you imagine if i had said something like that? it would not have been very pretty. i can assure you. racism is real in this country and it is ugly and it's wrong. bigotry has no place among those of us who believe that no one is better and no one is worse. who believe that all of us have been created equal by our creator and that we are endowed with inalienable rights, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. there is really no room for thinking ourselves better or worse. but yet, sometimes we get this idea that racism is something that becomes a political weapon
