Meantime parents of some of the survivors at the Florida State capitol calling for action on gun control. We are here for the kids. Not about politics anymore. I dont care if there is democrat or republican, i dont care if you arent a mother or father. I dont care. But we need to get together as a country. Phil keating joins us live in parkland with the latest. Happening now in tallahassee meeting with the mayor and meeting with parents of student who attend the high school. The focus of these talks and the reasonable the parents went up there is about school safety. The next court date dealing with the suspect nikolas cruz comes on thursday. 19yearold nikolas cruz charged with 17 counts of first degree murder. They are getting the judge denied a motion for a new judge. Cruzs legal team says she showed bias. Sheriffs deputies were called to their home more than the sheriff disclosed. He cited 23 calls to that house. Dispatch records weve obtained show there were at least 45 calls to the home. About half of which were for the younger brother. For things like mentally ill person, domestic disturbance and child elderly abuse. Parents arrived at the State Capitol yesterday meeting first with democratic lawmakers. We should be prioritizing policies to protect our students, not bow down to the gun lobby. Do you hear me, senators . Do you hear me, representatives . We will not bow down. We wont bow down. We wont bow down. Right now the Broward County commission is meeting for the First Time Since the shooting happened almost two weeks ago to the day. The issues theyre tackling, motions on the table. Comprehensive gun control and request from the state up in tallahassee nearly 30 million, the estimated cost to tear down the freshman building 12 where most of the carnage happened. Julie. Phil keating in parkland, florida. Thank you. Jon pressure continues to mount to do something about gun violence after the Parkland School shooting. Lawmakers unable to reach an agreement on what to do about guns. Sarah sanders yesterday. The president is planning a meeting for wednesday with bipartisan members of congress to discuss different pieces of legislation and what they can do moving forward in terms of i think the last question you had was the age limit. Something still being discussed. A final determination and legislative piece has not been determined on that front yet. Jon White House Deputy press secretary hogan gidley joins us now with more on the president s plans. Thank you for being here. There are some republican legislators have suggested its time to raise the age limit on buying long guns from 18 to 21. Where does the president stand . He has been listening to all the relevant stakeholders. We started off with a gutwrenching moment with the parents and students, surviving students at parkland at the white house state dining room. The world got so see it. Cameras were allowed in and you got to see real anger and sadness but also hopefulness that something would get accomplished now after this horrific tragedy. The president then met with Law Enforcement at the local level to find out how partnerships between the federal government could bolster what they needed at the local level and met with governors as well. Both republican and democrat. There were a wide ranging array of ideas and solutions. We are listening to those and well meet with congress as Sarah Huckabee just pointed out for tomorrow. Both sides of the aisle. We have to figure out legislation cant just feel good. Legislation has to do good. Thats what this president wants. Weve seen this issue dogging our country for a long time. The president says its time to fix it. Jon early on after the parkland tragedy the president said he would like to see those bump stocks, the kind that made the Las Vegas Shooting so deadly, he would like to see them banned. The alcohol, tobacco and Firearms Division has said they dont have the authority to do that. Congress is the only body that can do that. Where does the president stand on that . Anything that takes a legal firearm and turns it into something illegal like a bump stock does. The president is against that and so is the nra for that matter. Donald trump is more than the president of the United States. He is a father and he is a grandfather. He wants what everybody else in this country wants, safety and security at our schools and when youre walking down the street. Whatever we can do to help prevent massacres like we saw in parkland and ones from the past we have to do that. Americans deserve better and this president will lead the way to that. Jon the White House Communications director hope hicks, who on the food chain there is your boss, right . She is on capitol hill to testify before the house intelligence committee. Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell weighed in earlier on americas newsroom. Listen to this. She certainly has knowledge about what the president knew about russian interference, any directives he may have made in her presence and, of course, the june 9th meeting his son took one floor below the president s office in trump tower back in 2016 with russians offering dirt on hillary clinton. Jon the question is how much can or will she tell . Are there constraints from the white house on her testimony . Obviously i can and will not comment on anything hope hicks may or may not say. I will defer you to her attorneys. There has been no collusion and weve seen Rod Rosenstein say just the same thing after an exhaustive search over a year we find out nothing is there. The president was right. This is a witch hunt. And we expect at the end of this that it will be proven true. We have been completely cooperative with every aspect of this investigation and not going to stop being cooperative now. Jon for instance steve bannon, when he testified to the committee, he would not talk about communications involving the president because of executive privilege. Im wondering whether hope hicks will invoke that same executive privilege. I cant comment on that. What i can say executive privilege is nothing new. Thats where we are now. I cant comment on hopes testimony. Jon lets talk about daca, the Supreme Court has declined to here the daca case for now, meaning hundreds of thousands of the socalled dreamers can renew their protections from deportation while the case works its way through the lower courts. Here is what one daca recipient had to say about that. My concerns about the Supreme Court is that this will give congress the ability to not take a solution to daca urgently and for us we still want them to act by march 5th because we know that as things keep passing and there is no federal solution there are folks that arent benefiting from daca and folks being deported. Jon the president threw the ball into the congress lap and said fix it by march 15th, march 18th and here we are back again with no fix in sight. What will happen . Its incredible that congress refuses to come to the table to get something accomplished on this issue. Lets not forget when president barack obama had the white house as a democrat, the house he controlled also the Democrat Party and had a filibusterproof senate and made a Campaign Promise to fix the issue within the first 100 days and democrats didnt touch it. What President Trump has done is proven the hypocrisy of the democrats. He offered them a common sense solution three times what president obama wanted with regards to potential pathway to citizenship and democrats refused to keep the government open. They shut down the government hurting the American People as opposed to protecting people who are here illegally and unlawfully. Jon you are talking about the president s offer of citizenship or a path to citizenship for 1. 8 million of the socalled draoerms. Absolutely. This judicial meddling has to stop. Eventually it will go to the Supreme Court and we believe the law is on our side. Lets say this logically for a moment. Democrats believe that barack obama had the law on his side to create this daca out of if thats the case and the president does have that power, then doesnt the president regardless of the next president and regardless of party doesnt the next president have the power to stop daca as well . Logically it makes sense the president has to stop it. This judicial meddling from activist judges were quite frankly appalled by it but we have to get a solution. The time for talk is over. We have to protect the American People first and have to offer something to these daca folks. We have to get a fix in place thats lasting and we wont see ourselves back in the same position in five to six to seven years. Jon i think everybody would agree on that. Hogan gidley, the Deputy White House press secretary. Good to have you on. Melissa right now the new Federal Reserve chair on capitol hill jerome powell. His first public testimony since being sworn in. Wall street is listening closely and looking for any signs the fed could actually pick up the pace of Interest Rate increases. Powells testimony after a violent stock Market Correction earlier this month. Stocks have managed to recoup all their losses since then. There is the good news. Jon reports of heavy fire interrupting a russian declared fivehour humanitarian pause in syria. Lying on the outskirts of the capital city of damascus it has been under attack by syria for the past 10 days. It is meant to escort civilians out of the city during the pause. France is using russia to use its power over Bashar Alassad to back a u. N. Security Council Resolution calling for a 30day truce. The president s stand on a form of gun control, what he says he will ban even if congress does not. It is a controversial move by a republican president. Plus the Supreme Court refusing to take action on daca. What that means for the fate of the socalled dreamers and how lawmakers will respond. Around here, im lucky to get through a shift without a disaster. My bargain detergent couldnt keep up. It was mostly water. So, i switched to tide pods. Theyre super concentrated, so i get a better clean. I mean, i give away water for free. Im not about to pay for it in my detergent. 1 trusted. 1 awarded its got to be tide. And for a plantbased clean, try tide purclean in your noise cancelling trheadphones . Ry maybe not. Maybe you could trust you wont be next to a loud eater. eating potato chips loudly or you could just trust duracell. silence julie breaking now in the fight for gun control President Trump making his position clear on bump stocks which modify semi automatic weapons to fire like automatic weapons. Listen. President trump im writing bump stocks out myself. I dont care if congress does it or not. Im writing it out myself. You put into the machine gun category. It will be very hard to get them. Were writing out bump stocks. Julie you know, what the president is doing here should be making many of those who criticize the president sort of sit back and say look, this republican president is trying to do something and he is brave enough to go against the nra. Something that former past republican president s have not done. He also trying to do something here that president barack obama didnt accomplish. The question here is the exact mechanism for how theyll go about making these bump stocks illegal. Back in 2010, atf, the Justice Department agency that regulates firearms decided that they didnt actually have the authority to do so. They said it would be up to congress to pass legislation making these illegal and therefore kind of pass the buck. What trump has ordered is the Justice Department to complete a thorough review, asked them to expedite that review and you now have differing opinions with atf whether they will decide to overrule that 2010 decision. Julie okay. My concern is that regardless of what the president does, it does not seem to satisfy all of his opponents because here we have a democratic governor of washington state, governor insly, after hearing the president come forward, this is his reaction, lets play it. We listen to people about it. Maybe they dont look so good a little later. I just suggest we need a little less tweeting and a little more listening. Jon first of all the governor is referring to the president saying he believed teachers armed with guns would act as a deterrent and the reason he made those comments. That is not the president s focus here to arm teachers with guns. He is trying to actually change the way that people are armed period. The president has been talking a lot about this proposal to arm teachers and described it as an important measure. One that is very controversial that a lot of teachers and teachers unions disagree with and a polarizing topics, the topic of gun and gun regulation. A couple areas seem like all sides of the aisle agree. Even the nra has come out in favor of the regulation on bump stocks and the Republican Party rallying around the pending legislation that would strengthen the background check system. Those are measures the president is moving forward in some cases with the nras approval. But you are always going to have folks on both sides of this very polarized issue who believe the president is going too far or not going far enough. Weve heard from a lot of those survivors of the parkland shooting. Julie the president is listening. Governor insly said less tweeting more listening. He is listening. He is reacting to the students and politicians and the governor of florida who wants to make changes with changing the age limit for the ar15. The president is both praising and warning the nra saying he will fight the powerful gun lobbyists, who spent millions, tens of millions of dollars on his 2016 president ial bid. How could it play out come the midterms for the republicans as a whole . The president said he is willing to come up against the nra. He has also in the last couple of days toned down rhetoric when it comes to raising the age limit for purchasing some weapons after he had lunch with several nra leaders. That said, the midterms are coming up very, very quickly. Republicans want to be able to run on a platform that says look, theyve accomplished things and proven they are able to govern. Running in a lot of these districts on the progun control agenda is not something that would be extremely popular. What were seeing here is the party really wants to get something done so that they can move on, so they can start campaigning and talking again about tax cuts, the impact that americans are seeing in their paychecks now. Thank you. Jon north korea says its willing to talk to the u. S. What conditions President Trump says it would take for him to open such negotiations. Plus a big decision from the Supreme Court. Why some consider it both a blessing and a curse for lawmakers in the latest battle over what to do about the dreamers. We were able to challenge the administration and we won. Obviously it is not something permanent and not a solution to our problem. We will continue to fight so we can find the path to citizenship we deserve. Bps natural gas teams use smart App Technology to share data from any well instantly. So they can analyze trends and stop potential problems in their tracks. Because safety is never being satisfied and always working to be better. You know whats not awesome . Gigspeed internet. When only certain people can get it. Lets fix that. Lets give this guy gig really . And these kids, and these guys, him, ah. Oh hello. That lady, these houses yes, yes and yes. And dont forget about them. Uh huh, sure. Still yes xfinity delivers gig speed to more homes than anyone. Now you can get it, too. Welcome to the party. Jon the Supreme Court declines to hear a challenge to a Lower Court Ruling that the president cannot terminate the daca program. That means the Dreamers Program stays in place at least for now. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina laying out what it means Going Forward. If we did nothing and just ended daca and did nothing else and a lot of these young people start getting deported, then that would destroy the party. I dont think thats even a viable option. The options are to put it down the road until later or the president engage again and see where the sweet spot is. Its clear to me after those four votes you know where the sweet spot is at. Border security for daca. Jon joining us now republican congressman from new york lee president obama made the action deferred. President trump tried to set the deadline for congress to come up with a fix. Now the Supreme Court has essentially taken off all of the time limits. So what happens now . President trump is still very interested in being able to get a great immigration bill done as quickly as possible. You still have additional leverage points. Right now were negotiating the next funding bill. Congressional republicans are engaged in this discussion on the house side. There is a bill that was introduced by chairman Bob Goodlatte and mike mccaul that includes several come opponent either. The need to find a solution to daca. The funding to ensure the Border Security thats necessary. To end chain migration and visa lottery. A legislative solution that has a growing amount of support in the house. President trump supports. It would be unfortunate if any Congressional Democrats dont feel the pressure anymore to engage in this conversation. Because it would be great to have them at the table if they are willing. Jon the Supreme Court has taken the pressure off of them, has it not . Thats a problem. While there are there might be Congressional Democrats who want to sit down, who want to in good faith engage in this conversation, im not seeing it from the leadership. Im not seeing nancy pelosi rallying her troops or even privately showing interest to negotiate a compromise. What were all seeing is publicly because the leaders of each party, nancy pelosi, speaker ryan, they get something called a magic minute. We saw nancy pelosi spend her magic minute eight hours talking about illegal immigration praising it. Celebrating it rather than coming up with solutions of how to end it. So there is a huge gap as it relates to where nancy pelosi is and where the rest of reality is here in washington and around the country. Thats a problem. Maybe she feels less pressure than when she spent eight hours praising illegal immigration. Jon the white house has suggested that democrats are not really serious about fixing the problem and now that the pressure is off because of this Supreme Court ruling, you know, we didnt get anything out of the Senate Despite the four bills that they had percolating there. It just doesnt seem like there is going to be the impetus to get anything done on daca. It certainly is very possible that the next action that we do see getting across the finish line right now you are seeing a growing amount of support for the goodlatte and mccaul bill that accomplishes the goals of the president. House passage. It would be helpful if we had democrats engaged in the process and hear them out and what great ideas they have and the bill goes over to the senate. But i do see a great possibility that we can have action on this Goodlatte Mccaul bill. It is important for courage among any congressional democrat who understands we arent going to just pass a daca bill and not have any discussion of how to actually stop illegal immigration. Because a daca bill alone ends up encouraging more illegal immigration. Thats something we arent going to pass. Jon good point. Congressman, the republican from new york, thank you. Julie longtime senator Dianne Feinstein didnt get the endorsement of the California Democratic party. Could other moderates see the same thing happen and what it means for democrats in november. Live at the white house the president is meeting with gop lawmakers. What they have to say about gun control next. Jon still no clear direction from the Trump Administration on gun control at a lively white house meeting with the nations governors yesterday the president voiced support for a range of options. John roberts has more. Good morning. Well get to that in a second. First some breaking news here from the Trump Administration and the Trump Campaign. We have known for months now the president plans to run for reelection in 2020. Now were getting news as to who will lead that campaign. The Trump Campaign announcing a short time ago that brad parscal. The Digital Media guru has been named as the campaign manager. He worked for the Trump Organization and got into politics and well liked at the white house. The president thinks he is brilliant. In addition to his 2020 duties he will be heavily involved in the 2018 midterm campaign. So again get used to him. Easy to pick out of a crowd. A big long beard, 68. He will be leading the 2020 Trump Campaign. The president meeting this hour with republican senators. The meeting about renewable fuel standards but no question gun safety will also come up. The president talked at length about that yesterday with the nations governors. Again promoting his idea of arming and training certain members certain qualified members of School Faculty or staff. Running into some opposition from washingtons democratic governor. Watch this exchange. I know that you have suggested arming our teachers. And i just President Trump not your teachers, arming a small portion that are gun adept that know how to handle it. Ive listened to the first grade teachers that dont want to be pistol packing and Law Enforcement said they dont want to have to train teachers as Law Enforcement agents which takes about six months. So i just suggest we need a little less tweeting here and a little more listening and lets take that off the table and move forward. Jon the president yesterday criticized the Broward CountyDeputy SheriffScott Peterson and others for not rushing into the school to try to take down the shooter. If he was there he likely would have responded differently. Listen here. They werent exactly medal of honor winners, all right . The way they performed was frankly disgusting. You know, i really believe you dont know until youre tested but i believe i run in even if i didnt have a weapon. I think most of the people in this room would have done that, too. Because i know most of you. But the way they performed was really a disgrace. Jon other news to bring you from the white house this morning. The president cut a deal with the ceo of boeing for two new replacements for the air force one fleet. Hogan gidley said President Trump has reached an informal deal with boeing on a fixed price contract thanks to the president s negotiations it will save the taxpayers more than 1. 4 billion. The two new aircraft seen in an artists rendition the original cost was more than 5 billion. Even though the president said in a tweet in 2016 that it was 4 billion. The cost was well above 5 billion. One of the ways theyll save money is that they are buying two existing air frames that were commissioned by trans aeroairlines of russia. They retained ownership of it and theyre sitting in an airfield in victoriaville, california and they will soon be handed over to the air force and turned into air force ones. Julie. Jon sort of a Clearance Sale you might say. Overstock. If you have an old aircraft hanging around. Jon john roberts. Thank you. Julie thank you, john. To the midterms and new concerns for democrats with one headline reading demolition derby. Glut of candidates has party at war with itself. The California Democratic party refused to endorse Dianne Feinstein. There is no secret here, mark, that there definitely needs to be new, fresh blood for the Democratic Party. Feinstein is a perfect example of what is wrong with the Democratic Party, would you not say . It also says something to where the Democratic Party is going when senator feinstein is considered not liberal enough for them and they are just lurching to the left to the extreme and it shows that 2018 will come down to a simple message. Results versus resistance. Republicans under the leadership of President Trump have the results. So far the only thing the Democratic Party has offered is resistance. Julie first of all, robin. In California Democrats want to hijack the Democratic Party and actually lean so far left, will they not be doing themselves more harm by doing that . You Better Believe it. Moderates get the work done. Were able to reach across the aisle and actually see progress. Congress isnt meant to be a modern day welfare system. Americans expect these legislators to perform. As mark said i agree with what he said. Results versus resistance. Resistance to me is an exercise in futility. Americans are demanding that we give them a coherent message. Thats what my party right now is lacking. So i would like to see that in the future, julie. Julie mark, what does it mean for the future of democrats, first of all . The California Democrats not endorsing feinstein is a very clear message. It is also interesting to look at the fact if you look at democrats actually succeeding and winning elections across the country. They arent handpicked by the dnc. These are people separating themselves from the actual party. The president very much not a politician separated himself from the rnc. Is this the wave of the future when it comes to politics . I dont think so. What were seeing right now i think is very similar to what you saw shortly after the election of president obama back in 2008 where you had divisions that cropped up in the Republican Party. The republicans were able to unite and took back control of congress and obviously a few years ago with the election of President Trump. You will see the same thing going through with the Democratic Party. Bust but right now they have a serious concern. You have sitting Congress People endorsing a primary opponent against one of their own in illinois. You have a lot of other areas where democrats are feeding on themselves right now and to the other point without that message, they are really having a tough time Going Forward and when republicans go to the voters in november talking tax cuts, talking about our wins in the war on terror it is a strong position to be in. Julie robin, no surprise you yourself admit your party is struggling. One of the unified messages we arent seeing much of one coming from the democratic side is resisting President Trump. That is not necessarily working, at least it isnt for Dianne Feinstein. Is there a message that the democrats should take away that maybe resisting the president isnt necessarily going to win them Elections Come the midterm . You Better Believe it. Im political director at our local party. I see in the trenches americans are sick of just not getting anything done. They want a coherent message. The people winning the special elections across the country are not the ones that are handpicked by the dnc. Theyre the outsiders. Americans arent looking to the dnc to tell them who they need to vote for. Im glad to see theyre voting their conscience. S. But at the governors meeting at the white house yesterday the president added only under the right conditions. President trump north korea, who by the way wants to talk as of last night, you heard that, they want to talk. And we want to talk also, only under the right conditions. Otherwise were not talking. Theyve been talking for 25 years. Other president s should have solved the problem long before i got here. And theyve been talking for 25 years and you know what happened . Nothing. Julie Major General is here to tell us how he thinks this will play out. So we know talk has never worked. The president just highlighted the fact for 25 years talk hasnt worked. Why would he hint as possible talks now with north korea . I think its important to recognize that there has to be a series of steps that have to take place in order for us to get their attention and then to see whether or not in good faith theyll try to sit down and begin a meaningful dialogue. The dozens the couple of decades that they have raised the tension in the region only to make their demands on fuel or energy or what have you, and then only to modify their behavior for a short amount of time. Theyve crossed a special threshold when they detonated their First Nuclear weapon in 2006. They have escalated now for the last 11 years with both the missile and weapons program. Julie there is that meaningful dialogue. The question whether there is such a thing when it comes to this rogue regime. As you mentioned in 2016 they launched the missile and bragged that they have the missiles that are Strong Enough to actually reach the United States and pack nuclear warheads. How do you have meaningful dialogue with a country that has actually in fact said guam, you better look out . Its a fair question. The ball will be in their court. They cant expect that the behaviors that they have done in the past where they have conditioned the region that there is no enduring compliance with International Norms and that record is long proven. So really theyll have to come to the table with something meaningful to buy the time and space they will need in order for us to have a constructive progression towards denuclearization. I dont expect that will happen as the first measure for this engagement but there has to be some bona fide indications that they are going to take this engagement opportunity seriously. Julie if youre going to engage in denuclearization and talking about north korea who could care less what the rest of the world says or does because weve really not done much more than sanctions and so forth and tried to put pressure on the chinese and later found they were somehow supplying them with money after they supposedly shut down their banks. I mean, there has been no plan b. There is a plan a. Its not working. President trump said the u. S. Will go to a phase two as he calls it with north korea if sanctions fail. I want to play that sound and have your reaction. President trump if the sanctions dont work well have to go phase two. It may be a very rough thing and very unfortunate for the world. But hopefully the sanctions will work. We have tremendous support all around the world for what were doing. It really is a rogue nation. If we can make a deal it will be a great thing. Julie it would be a very bad thing for the world. What does he mean . Well, i think that once again the onus is on north korea. When the president says sooner or later there will be limits to how we are able to respond because weve got to we cant go through with the concessions weve made in the past. The game has changed because of this Nuclear Weapons program and the advancement of his missile program. I thought it was interesting he made these comments sitting next to the Prime Minister of australia. Another point being made there is this is a regional challenge as well. And we have longstanding regional partnerships because of the values that we share and have in common. North korea is surrounded by three of the largest economies in the world. Three Large Population centers. There is a regional impetus to take this challenge on and to get outcomes that have been different than what weve been getting over the last two decades. I dont know exactly what the administration has in mind on what the bloody nose operation might be. If that action is taken, it is going to be interesting to see just how north korea responds. Because the survival of the regime is their number one priority. How far do they want to go when they react to this . Julie scary the think its in north koreas court. Now its a matter of playing ball with a rogue regime we cannot trust. Major general, thank you very much for talking to us. Thank you, my pleasure. Jon the president , the nations governors and lawmakers in congress trying to reach a deal on some kind of action on guns after the tragedy in florida. Why that is way easier said than done. President trump announcing he will run for reelection in 2020 and naming a Campaign Director and hope hicks behind closed doors right now with the House Intel Committee today. What are they likely to ask her . Well see what comes out of that. Late night hosts skewering the president when he said he would run into the Florida High School even unarmed. Jon students from Marjory StonemanDouglas High School are meeting with democratic lawmakers and gun control is expected to be a big issue come the november midterm elections. Our next guest weighing in in the wall street journal writing the Florida School shooting revealed not so much a national disagreement over guns and School Violence but an enormous Cultural Divide of which guns are the most obvious part. Who is in position to bridge that divide . President donald trump. He has been known more for dividing whether uniting. Whether he will play this role or not remains to be seen but the opportunity is there. The executive washington editor for the wall street journal. I dont suppose you would want to be in the president s position right now, yes . The opportunity is there, but it is going to take the wisdom of solomon to get these two sides to come together. Well, i think there are limits. I think as i wrote a huge divide. I think it can be bridgeed somewhat. I think it is not reasonable to think that anybody could bridge it entirely. I think the president has pointed toward a few things in which there might be agreement if not consensus, one would be expanding background checks, another would be raising age limits for purchases. Dont buy an ar15 unless youre 21 years old for example. Thats a possibility at least. And i think that there are some other items out there in which there could be agreement. One the president pointed to just in the last day or so was eliminating bump stocks. These devices that turn a semi automatic gun into an automatic gun that increases the lethalness of that weapon. I think there is a possibility there to have agreement. Is there an agreement on a semi Assault Rifle ban . Were a long way from that. President trump has credibility with the nra. You need someone like that to say some things the nra might not like and bring them along. Jon the president spoke early on about the likelihood or his desire to ban bump stocks. But that didnt come up yesterday with the governors meeting. You know, its a little confusing to know exactly what the president and white houses priorities are now. They havent endorsed a specific piece of legislation. He has talked in meetings in the white house some about age limits, some about background checks. He also talked about arming teachers, a more divisive topic and some about bump stocks. The air clears only when there is a legislative vehicle the white house is or isnt behind. We arent quite there yet. There will be more conversations between President Trump and senators on this question. I think out of that there might emerge some actual hard legislation. Jon the notion of raising the age is interesting but you are telling a kid that he can sign up to join the army and go to afghanistan and die but he cant buy a rifle. Right. In some states youre telling him you arent old enough to buy a beer but old enough to buy an ar15. What does society what to do about those kinds of things . Thats a tough questions. Of all the issues the president raised that might be the toughest one to find consensus on now. A lot of things beyond that there will be a lot of discussion. One of the questions people in washington are asking, is it different this time . Is this different than the atmosphere after some previous Mass Shootings . Well see. Im not sure yet that it is.
