Live near the trickysyrian border today. That is right. Seems to be in the crucial stages. We spent the day at the border and so the most intense fighting we have witnessed in the week we have been here. Take a look at what we saw. We have been witnessing several airstrikes isis today mostly on the southwestern side of the city. Its the black plumes of smoke coming up. That is outside the city. Today we have been seeing and hearing loud, intense fire coming on the very center of the city indicating there is street to street close combat between the defenders. A huge blast that happened at the center of the town according to our sources and to the looks of things seems like a u. S. Airstrike. Unable to confirm that and other sources later on saying it was a isis car bomb or truck bomb, regardless it is a sign of the nature of this conflict. We were there all day we witnessed intense fighting at the center an in western side of the city and a quiet on the east side where isis has had a foothold the past couple of days. There were six different airstrikes the last 24 hours hitting targets. According to a kurdish fighters worse, theyre welcome to according to that same source, more should have come earlier. Finally those fighting on this side of the border, angry with turkey not doing more clashing with security authorities in various cities all across this country, 19 dead from those clashes. Trouble on both sides of the border right now. Shannon time is of the essence. Eric i interlacing to make a dent. The radical islamic terrorists appeared to be undeterred on their march as a fighters hide behind civilians into urban areas so many are asking today if it is so far alone could be a flaw in the strategy against isis. Jennifer griffin on that from the pentagon. Hi, eric. The chairman delivered a warning about the kurdish stronghold you the kurdish border. It may be about to fall. The isil fighters have been putting pressure on the outskirts of the city and in fact into the city itself. Speaking to fox news this morning, the pentagon admiral says he is poetry has been tracking these advances but conceded airpower alone simply isnt enough to defend the town from isis. Former defense secretary leon panetta agrees. We have been tracking these guys, trying to hit them from the air. Five airstrikes trying to get it done. I think what you are seeing here, we have been very honest about limited airpower. Thertheres always what you cano from the air. Doing with a very fanatical enemy. Frankly it is not going to work just to do era tax. Without people on the ground who nobody targets are and what is going on. Military things we ought have special foods on the ground to do what is right. I think the president ought to be open to that. Shannon what is becoming increasing the clear from conversations at the pentagon is the political decision not to put boots on the ground is confining the current air operations. In the meantime likely to fall to isis. This afternoon president obama, to the pentagon to meet with his joint chiefs, only the second time he has done so as commanderinchief. Eric 10 minutes from now we will have an insider investor john bolton awake me if it falls. Shannon president obama getting a Cold Shoulder from a lot of democrats, especially those in red leaning states. The president traveling more often now to democratic strongholds like new york and chicago but does the strategy help or hurt the most vulnerable candidates . One williams the fox news political analyst. Gentlemen, good to see you both this morning. Start with you, face value, are their spots the president can be helpful to Democratic Candidates right now outside of arkansas, alaska and the likes . I think you hit on it, shannon. Democratic strongholds in new york, illinois, california, but the way he is being upheld in terms of fundraising democrats have been externally well in this cycle, but he is really a negative. His numbers are below 40, and so what you have is a situation where it is antiobama animating the Republican Base and for Democratic Candidates they dont want to stir the Republican Base, they want to get their voters out and are staying away from president obama. Eric the president is very good at fundraising. Hopping around doing that quite a bit. Democrats in the senate races and those takes states have poured millions, but states the democrats are outspending five to 10 to one. The president seems to be very helpful as the democrats in this cycle. He is kind of the coat brothers of the Democratic Party. Democrats run the table in washington with the exception of the house of her present tense, couple in the senate and to join the white house so it is easy to raise a lot of money. It is sort of amusing because when republicans run the tables and are raising a lot of money, democrats howell over that, but true, president obama is very effective in terms of raising money, i could argue his probably more effective at raising republicans. This they president in 2008 he won a historic election with support from independents and even a lot of republicans who sort of took his promises about hope and change and they kind of filled that with concrete beliefs, and he has massively disappointed huge numbers of those people. Even among a lot of democrats. This is rough sledding and president obama has no one to blame but himself for it. Shannon what about other star power from the Democratic Party . Im surprised how little the first lady has been called in. Her last name is obama. You are right, Michelle Obama is more popular and of course bill clinton like if you look at the arkansas race, mark pryor, a democrat on the ballot has played on the fact that bill clinton is our guy in arkansas, clinton is also popular throat much of the selfassessment to see him in georgia and the likes so that is a possibility, but overall the play for democrats is to say president obama is not that popular but dont forget the thing the voters are saying is we dont like washington, we think the system is broken. There met at congress, congress has an even lower approval rating, so what is this contest about at the moment . A lot of putting down people, a lot of people saying i am angry, i will not take it anymore from the voters. Shannon we heard the president say i am not on the ballot but all of our policies are on the ballot. G. O. P. Seems to love it. The fact is that is awaiting set up this midterm, how does that play out . Obviously the president wishes he can take that back. But that is very much the strategy republicans are using right now. Theyre very much trying to put his policies on the ballot and what we saw with bill clinton in arkansas earlier this week was he was trying to undo that damage and make the argument is not the president s agenda that is on the ballot, you have to vote for mark pryor, he is your guy. It is interesting because of course that is just that strategy in and of itself is an admission by president obama that his agenda is very, very unpopular. Eric something tells me they may want to talk about that coke brothers. We will leave it to you to discuss that. Good to see you both. Shannon new information of one of our patients who have ebola. Contracting the virus while working in liberia. Such receive a blood transfusion from the former patient. A way doctors help to cure him. With these details, it is pretty fascinating to get rid of ebola. He will receive a Blood Donation. He is of course the first person to be treated on u. S. Soil. He made a full recovery after undergoing treatment at Emory University hospital. He recently found out he has the same blood type as the cameraman, so he made a Blood Donation just as he had earlier from other patient eventually recovered. Although such transfusions are still in the extreme mental phase, it is believed the antibodies and other Properties Found in blood from survivors may help patients with active infections fight off the deadly virus. Meanwhile Jesse Jackson led a prayer vigil for members of the dallas hospital treating Thomas Duncan developed ebola several days after arriving in the u. S. He is now listed in critical but stable condition. Urging the general public to show him and his family compassion. Meanwhile spanish authorities have obtained a court order to euthanize the family pet of a nurse being treated in spain. Base i study that found dogs carry the virus without displaying symptoms. What is unclear is if dogs easily transmit the virus to humans or if this dog even carries a virus in the first place. Animal Rights Groups say spanish authorities are overreacting it would be better off keeping the dog whose name is excalibur alive for further studies and incidentally the hashtag save excalibur is trending on social media. Shannon check this out, a strip club dancer charged with assault. Why police are saying she attacked her boyfriend with an ax. Plus, isis moving dangerously close to turkeys border. Shannon at fox news alert, we received word from the Texas Health Resources department saying Thomas Eric Duncan, the man who traveled here from liberia diagnosed with ebola in hospital in dallas has to way. They say he passed with 7 51 a. M. Said coming to an insidious disease. They say he fought courageously in his battle but he has not survived. Keep in mind when he came here there were questions about whether he lied on the form that allowed him entry to the fight in this country. Officials said they would prosecute him had he survived. He visited the hospital in dallas but turned away from the emergency room, some debated whether or not he nurses and doctors had the information that he had traveled from liberia returned the hospital days later very ill. He has passed away confirmed to us now from texas health authorities. Thomas eric duncan has now died of ebola. Another crime stories we are following. Action against ms. Peterson said he never intended to hurt the fouryearold be at hell spring court claiming if he doedeservesdoes of the neutralif lawyers up in the conviction and death sentence for the murder of 11 women. The bizarre attack in florida, a strip club dancer got angry because her boyfriend would not talk to her, so she went after him with an ax or do police and the dance was apparently drunk. Eric shannon, back to our other story now, the fight to save kobani. Kobani is right on the border with turkey. The country under fire for not doing enough to stop the terrorist movement. Tomorrow the head of nato will visit turkey and special envoy to the coalition john allen heading there as well with deputy under center estate investor. People tried to convince the government to do something instead of just standing by like bystanders. Will it work . Fox news contributor joins us now. 12,000 innocent civilians are trapped, 9000 terrorists bearing down on them and if there is a massacre, how big would is isis victory in kobani be . To be a substantial political signal because in effect they would have overcome u. S. Airstrikes on their way to capturing the town, and it would be a repudiation yet again another repudiation of president obamas strategy. I think one politically significant fact is they will then have closed contact with border with turkey a long a much larger piece of territory and it begins to look like isis is a real state, controlled territo territory, and it really calls into question turkeys motivation. They have their own problems with the kurds and standing back watching this happen to kobani really raises a lot of questions there as well. Eric is this how nato allies are supposed to ask . What can achieve, if anything as the tanks on the border . I think turkey doesnt come to this was entirely clean hands and we need to know a lot more of what exactly turkey did to allow jihadists to go through turkey into syria in the first place. They were happy to have the conflict in syria until it began to affect them. Relationship with the kurds is very complex here. So before nato rushes in, we have to ask whether turkey is not in part responsible for this conflict. I do believe you have to give one point where he has said why do you expect us to do everything when United States is engaged in such limited activity . We look at kobani and potential of may terry and disaster, doesnt that motivate barack obama in libya in 2011 when benghazi seemed to be under a similar kind of threat . I am not saying what the answer is necessarily with respect to kobani, what United States response to isis overall has been extraordinarily weak. Eric they do democrats, former members criticizing it, robert gates, leon panetta, hillary clinton, chris hill, a startling lack of attention and now jimmy carter, look at what he said about mr. Obama. First all we waited too long, letting them build up their money cap ability, weapons, while we were still in syria. And then when isis move into iraq you have symbiotic ground pressure you have the right target, for me to move in and be willing to fight isis. What does it mean when jimmy carter is criticizing . It is jawdropping, no other way to put it. Look back on the Carter Administration as the good old days when he comes to Strong NationalSecurity Policy compared to president obama, now president himself is reminding us of the good old days. I thought the secretarys book aand his interview with bill oreilly last night were just stunning in seeing how uncomfortable he was trying to answer the questions. Eric were out of time, thank you so much. We will be right back. Eric getting word Thomas Eric Duncan has died, center estate john kerry discussing the threat of ebola right now. Friendly urgent to be able to quickly move to contain the spread of ebola. We need borders remain open. And we need to strengthen the capacity. We need countries to contribute for Ebola Centers and other african countries to join the effort and we need to make sure the Health Care Workers who go properly trained. Properly equipped and provide additional infections. As he can see in the next slide, this gives you a sense of who has contributed and what they have contributed and the fact is United Kingdom and United States between them have been committed 120 million to the United Nations response. There are smaller countries that have stepped up to the plate. Some are contributing way above their population compared to other countries. The fact is more countries can and must step up in order to make the contributions felt. This chart tells the story. Those are not enough countries to make the difference to be able to deal with this crisis, and we need more nations, every nation has an ability to do something with this challenge. The next chart will show as you see we have a shortfall still of some 300 million. United nations identified 1 billion in urgent needs which is what it reflected in that pie chart. World bank put in 22 . Private sector 10 . Others have received the tally. It includes the ability to meet the challenge, and we need people to step up now, now is the time for action, not words. There is not a moment to wait in this effort. We remain deeply committed on another issue, that is the question of europe which is whole and free and at peace. Together with our partners the european union, and it states a United Kingdom supporting ukraine sovereignty. In territorial integrity and Ukrainian Government efforts. Eric dealing with the situation with ebola and global efforts to try to fight it. Within 10 minutes we have learned Thomas Eric Duncan in dallas passed away this morning from that disease. In the Washington Post has very poignant remarks in an interview, the woman duncan visited in dallas telling the newspaper he apologized to her for having ebola in bringing it to her. her the love of his life apologizing to expose and the love of my life i said to the disease. Sadly he has succumbed to that disease. Trying to coordinate a way to fight it. You can catch the remarks of the century of state streaming live on foxnews. Com. Shannon Police Officers and indiana are under fire after video showing a traffic stop spiraling out of control surfaces. Watch this. This is an ongoing investigation. Shannon thank you very much. Eric shannon, in just a moment we will have a live report on the death of Thomas Duncan, he was a liberian man in being treated for the deadly disease. He has passed away this morning. Washington post reported he apologized to his girlfriend who came to visit saying he wished he had died in liberia instead of exposing potentially her to ebola. More when we come back. Eric d n the latest on the dallas d n patient with obama. Eric duncan has died with the disease this morning. Ebola casey is live with more on this. Reporter eric, good to see you. We want to get to what the hospital told us. This news came down not long ago although he apparently passed away at 7 51 central time this morning. The hospital texas health released this statement and this is how we got word of the news it is with profound sadness that we must inform you of the death of eric duncan who fell to the death of ebola. He fought tirelessly and the Dallas Community is grieving his passing. We offer the family our support and sympathy at this difficult time. This is the news frankly we had fear. We knew the condition was downgraded to Critical Condition over the weekend but we received word on monday he was given this experimental drug and yesterday we got the update his condition improved slightly. We were told he was on dialysis but his liver function was improving. And Jesse Jackson held a press conference and we heard from his family, his father and nephew who said they appeared they thought he was getting better. This news coming down he passed away this morning and also state Health Officials are reacting. The commissioner for the Texas Department of state health services, dr. Laky, saying the past week has been an enormous test for our Health System but for one family it has been more personal and today they lost a dear member of their family and we are keeping them in our thoughts. The doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital provided compass n Compassionate Care but ebola attacked the body in many ways. We are containing the virus and protecting people and so far it appears they have been successful in doing that. No members of Thomas Duncans family showing symptoms or the 50 other people he had contact with when he got to texas from liberia. Especially compelling because he had not seen his fiance for 1 years and that is why he came to america to see here and Washington Post is saying he apologized to her saying if he had known he had ebola he would have prefer today stay in liberia and die there. Reporter well, it is interesting because remember he kind of came under fire we will get to shannon. Lets go to this business report. Wall street is recovering a little bit and the board is showing after the 200 point drop you are at plus 19. It sparked fears of a global shutdown but there is good news. Lauren is watching this is live from the fox business network. This is more trick than treat for stocks this october. Lets call it shocktober. You are down 2 this month in this eight days. Major selling took the dow down 270. Up today but choppy out there. Investors are waiting for the feds notes on Interest Rates coming at 2 p. M. Eastern and waiting for Corporate America and hoping strong earnings from our Big Companies will make us forget about ebola, isis and signs of Global Economic weakness. We have another positive and that is lower oil prices. Good news for heating bills. The Energy Department says this winter it is going to be warmer than last winter so you may spend less to heat your home. If you use heating oil, very poplar in the northeast, big savings, an expected 362 because of the sharp drop in the price of heating oil and bigger savings for propane with 760 and that is walletfriendly for many midwestners out there. If you use natural gas safe about 30 and electricity you will save a more modest 17. But money not used to warm the home could be spent on Consumer Spending and that fuels the economy. It absolutely does. With the breaking news on the battle against ebola with the death this morning of Thomas Eric Duncan the first patient to bring ebola to our country we will take a look at how doctors are treating those with the disease and what is being done to try to contain the growing outbreak. Outnumbered is coming up at the top of had hour. What is coming up . Another former cabinet member turning on president obama and joining Hilary Clinton and robert gates in doing so. What is behind the criticism and what does it say about the president s leadership . It isnt good and we will get into it. And does one of the most iconic pictures of the us sailor kissing a nurse show sexism . And Adrian Peterson in court for abusing his son and teammates will watch a void on domestic violence. And tom rich from big and rich is here but will he have the numbers . And jimmy carter is piling on the president as well. The list is getting longer. The fog is getting thicker. Moments ago we got word that Thomas Eric Duncan, the first ebola patient in the United States, has died from the disease. We have a physician from john hopkins. Good to have you with us. Your reaction, doctor . It sounds like there was delay in diagnosing him. Do you think that could have made a difference in saving his life . Probably not in his life. But when he came to the hospital with a fever and told the story he was in west africa he was discharged on antibiotics and that day and a half before he came back to the hospital with worsening symptoms he may have exposed other folks. He got the experimental treatment and it didnt work. He did expose people unnecessarily if he would have been if the hospital would have been hypervigilant about this travel history. And speaking of exposure, there is so much concern and people feel like they are getting conflicting evidence from the cdc saying it is only transported through bodily fluids and you have to be in contact with someone who has symptoms and now there is information about ebola surviving on surfaces and people are worried about doorknobs and toilets and we have a couple cases where patients are not sure how they got the virus so that suggests it maybe easier to pick it up than we understand. It is true. If there is an active liquid, that is the fluid like saliva, hasnt dried up on a doorknob it maybe transmitted through that mechanisms. The one key threat in every case of ebola outside of west africa is that there is the travel history to west africa and that is the key. If you have friends who have been to west africa or know folks that have been there in the last three weeks, which is the period you can spread it, that is really what needs to signal every emergency room in the country to say lets treat this person differently. That is what we are doing at john hopkins. A lot of folks are looking around for Hand Sanitizer and i am told that is just for bacterial issues. This is more about washing your hands. Do the sanitizers work . Alcohol can work if there is fluid. But if the fluid went away, there is nothing to pass on. The job of the cdc is to calm the public and that is what they are doing. If by calming the Public People feel like they are not getting the whole story i dont know if they are that calm. What is your thought on a travel ban . Would that help us . We are hearing about taking temperatures in foreign airports and here when they land and have the screening through customs. Is that going to help on this end if someone shows up with a fever from west africa . There is a lot of concern about how people jump around from country to country. The cdc and government is going to announce what sounds to be more rigorous screenings at the airport. 30,000 people die of the flu and it comes from china and we dont limit travel from china. We need to identify the cases here, contain, and educate folks to not have contact with those who have symptoms. The voice of an isis terrorist. The are trying to find out who the mass man you are about to hear is. He speaks english with a north american isis and scene in an isis propaganda video. We are here outside the city of rocky. The police have arrested four men suspected of plotting an isis connected terror attack in london. How do we find the foreign fighters before they come back to kill us . Tom rogan is with the National Review and daily telegraph. That guy speaks perfect english, knows what to say and spouts hateful diatribe against ust. Maybe midwestern michigan or canadian . Reporter i think there is an indication they dont have a signal voice intercept which is a voice signature which is something they can reference against the archives and listen. The fact he is clearly from north america suggests he is an american or canadian citizen and evaded the Intelligence Network and is in syria and when he comes back, perhaps unless the fbi can identify him, he will not know who he is. So there is a clear security concern with thousands of westerns posing a concern to the United States. How many do you think are here . In britain they thought 500 and 250 are back. Reporter original we thought as many as a hundred americans in syria but the fbi toned it down to 1220. But the fact they dont know the identity of this man shows they dont know. This is unusual for the fbi to put out a press release like this. And in the uk there is more of a concern and the arrest we have seen strongly suggest the fact the British Government doesnt know all of the people, and quite a few of the people, who have come back and are amid the British Population we have the 2005 metro bus in london and some of those arrested in the uk and one was a medical student. What happens, tom . We had three arrest so far just yesterday. A 19yearold student in chicago from illinois . He is a teenager and arrested charged with trying to join isis. How do we stop the philosophical attraction of these young men specifically, and some women would assume, to the radical jihadist philosophy . Reporter there are number of things you need to do. First there needs to be a stronger, louder and unequivalent comdemnation from the islamic states. And there needs to be a stronger statement on the part of the u. S. And British Government that we are beginning to see that says if you go and fight with the people not only is this a crime but an act of treason. You owe your loyalty to the United States or uk and you are citizens and that comes with obligations and unless you do these you see the susceptibility of the men. The isis videos are like grand theft auto, the video games, they are designed to attract people to violence and you have to stop that. Hopefully someone calls to authorities so we can find this guy.
