Im assuming she was walking today, blood needed urgently, multiple injured, transported to towards her car after doing the various hospitals. Blood donation centers. Grocery shopping, and she just you have two addresses there on your screen. Were seeing reports that there are lines of people out the door at those locations, and people have been dropping off food and flew and fell back. At that point i thought okay water to help people in line this is not normal and my mom in trying to make donations. The backseat, she said just go we know that there are at least 24 victims. Go, and i couldnt because there 23 of them injured. Were people running through the one dead. Parking lot, so i had to be very thats information that we have from the two hospitals in that careful, but i was trying to get area, Del Sol Medical Center and out of there, and at that university Medical Center. Walmart, theres only one exit, Del Sol Medical Center confirmed to fox news they were treating so you can imagine theres 11 victims, nine of them in people trying to get out. Critical but stable condition. Two are stable. The ages of those victims they i come to a stop sign and i look are treating are 35 to 82 years to the right of me. I see the shooter was walking towards the door, wearing the old. And then at university Medical Center, an additional 13 khaki pants and the black victims, one of them they tshirts. He was carrying a rifle. Confirmed to fox news succumbed to their injuries and that person has died. The ages of those 13 victims covering his ears. And i saw him point at somebody range from 2 to senior citizens. On the floor in the corner, and so the victims range in age from he just shot s times, and what we know from the hospitals from ages 2 to 82. At that point he continued walking towards the door, and he unbelievably we know from Police Walked into the walmart. No Law Enforcement personnel jon how far away were you from fired their weapons during this incident. Him when you saw him shoot . They say the suspect was taken into custody without incident. And right now, they are trying a couple hundred feet maybe. To get a handle on the motive. Police also said that there were jon how would you describe the a lot of people who got separated during the chaos. Look on his face . So many of these cases the shooter ends up killing we, my mom and i proceeded as themselves or being shot by Somebody Else who has a weapon im driving, we rolled down our or Law Enforcement. So it was pretty remarkable that windows and theres people Law Enforcement never had to fire their weapons. Walking from a bridge, walking
down keep in mind, theres a jon i know that, you know, bus stop really close by, so things are moving very quickly, and they are still in the people stopped there, and they process of gathering walk to walmart or to sams, information. We know the shooter is a 21yearold white male. Have you been told anything else and theres people walking towards the stores, and all we about him . Is he from el paso . The reports that ive heard, were telling them, turn around, go back, and there was a gentleman saying, telling and look, i think you will get everybody to duck, but there was more updates pretty soon from local Police Department, but i people still just walking, i dont know if they didnt hear believe that what ive heard from my people on the ground is anything or but after that, i proceeded to call 911 and just hes from the dallas area, and not from el paso. Get out of there as soon as i jon that would suggest that he didnt have a, you know, a beef can as soon as i could, im with anybody at the walmart sorry, and as safely as unless maybe he, you know, was possible. Jon people who were inside the employed there and left to go to walmart described it as chaos, another city. But it doesnt sound like this but they said it was oddly calm is a Workplace Revenge kind of thing. I dont think it is. Chaos. How would you describe what was i mean, obviously they are going on in the parking lot . Interviewing the shooter right now. We may end up fighting out things that are completely exactly the way they different than what we think now described it. Because im not in those everything at first just seemed to go in slow kept, you know interviews. So the good thing about the
shooter being alive, it is rare that we actually get to know, get to talk to the person and first thing was, you know, potentially find out motive, how getting out of their safe they did it, why they did it, it because i had my mom and my son in the backseat, but i know is helpful i think in knowing there was other people crossing that for the future. And trying to run for safety, so i had to keep that in mind. Jon also good that apparently there was only the one shooter involved. But it was all happening very when this all began, authorities were saying there could be slowly. It wasnt until i saw the multiple shooters. The thought of multiple people shooter that it just became very with weapons running through a mall or a walmart is absolutely real, and at that point, people terrifying. Were just trying to get in their well, it was terrifying enough to have one shooter, but cars and just leave as quickly right now thats all i believe as possible. So very calm, but very chaotic. Was involved. Again, the interview will be jon with all of the pedestrians helpful in determining if other too, im sure that it was you people were involved in the planning. As far as the actual shooting, were weaving among all the my understanding is there was pedestrians who were either only one shooter, and he walking or running to get out of obviously knew what he was doing when he targeted walmart at there. That time, because my yes, correct. Understanding is there were 100 jon did it i mean, at what point did you realize that this employees there and almost 3,000 was, you know, an active shoote . That it really sunk in that this or is that, you know, a was an active shooter and he was situation where the time is stretched because im sure that on a mission to do some serious damage. I would say i would be surprised if it took 20 minutes given the those people im assuming were already oth or they location and the number of people that immediately knew were hiding or i mean, he just pointed the gun at them and about it with cell phones and just other forms of communication, id be shocked if it took that so anybody. Transported to various hospitals. Blood donations center, Blood Services at 424 South Mesa Hills and 133 north zargosa. Take a look at el paso responding to the urgent call for Blood Donations. This line wrapped outside the donation center. Keep in mind, those people were waiting outside at triple digit temps. It was at least 101 degrees outside in el paso at last check. These people still waited outside in that heat to give blood and try and save lives. This community obviously was in shock when they heard about this because things like this dont happen in el paso. People are just saddened by what happened. This is their way i think of coping with it. Giving blood is a way of helping. Another way to help people impacted by this sudden tragedy, Macarthur School was set up as a family reunification site. Families could have been separated when the shooting started. Volunteers helped out by handing out water to the people who had been outside after the shooting. Parents could have been separated from their kids. It was incredibly chaotic at the shooting. The united Blood Services, so many people have come to help out, bringing in more staff and telling people to make appointments for tomorrow. Meanwhile the El Paso Community foundation is sharing a link for

Jon that is very good information and also a word of warning to our viewers that unfortunately in situations like this, there are always scammers who will set up websites, you know, go fund me pages and so forth, that are not legitimate. And i know americans have big hearts and are obviously willing and ready to donate in times like this, but you want to make sure that you are donating to a reputable charity and somebody who will actually use the money for good. It says a lot first of all about the Police Department, the First Responders, and my hat goes off to them. This tells me that this guy was hellbent on going to that location and killing as many people as he possibly could, but he did not want to die. Now, there may be many reasons that we dont know the motive behind it. I heard steve rogers who gave an excellent commentary about this a little earlier, and hes absolutely right. Theres so much we dont know. But one of the things, the signs im always looking for is did he leave some kind of a manifesto in the event that he did in fact was killed during the course of killing all of these young people or injuring them . The tragedy about this, jon, is as we look at it, just think about it, 3,000 individuals were in this mall area according to news reports. And now youre looking injured as a result of gunfire and how many were injured as a result of panic and stampede or in that kindand were expecting conference from the community
leaders in el paso aboutschedul certainly go back there live when it does take place. You know, i wonder if these guys who very often are raised on a diet of violent video games, if they actually start pulling the trigger of a real weapon and they see real death and they find that its not as satisfying as maybe it was when they were playing it on a television screen. Have you ever encountered that . And could that be the reason that this guy just finally stopped . Well, ive encountered Video Game Players and their activity, but its rare that individuals act out like this that are video gamers. I think its a little too early to speculate at this stage about the motive. But what we do know is that this
guy got ahold of a gun, probably a semiautomatic gun, i would have to believe, because of all of the people that were injured or killed as a result of this shooting, and he specifically targeted this mall and he specifically targeted because clearly it was a soft target. He knew that this was during a period where families would be out taking their children to get School Clothing and school equipment. And he specifically went in there. He specifically knew what he was doing. He started from the outside, went inside, shot and killed as many people as he could and then like a coward, he put his gun down and surrendered to Law Enforcement. Jon yeah. Well, thank goodness that he did. There were early reports that there were multiple shooters or they thought there might be
multiple shooters in the mall. Now we are told that he is the only one, a 21yearold white male. He is the only one who was arrested and apparently the only one involved, but he certainly left a trail of carnage. It really bothers me that any political person, especially running for president of the United States, because thats who were hearing this from, from the democrat candidates, look, now is not the time to play politics. Comfort, bring comfort to the people and then move your politics on to your debates. Jon especially because i dont really see concrete proposals coming out of them, you know, its just its just sort of
platitudes. Well, it is. Now, compare that to what the president did, the president , compassion, and he committed all the resources of the United States government to el paso. Thats what a leader does, bring compassion and commit help. Theres no solutions that these people have that are tweeting these things out or whatever, and frankly it really upsets a lot of Law Enforcement officers and victims. Jon meantime, Whats Going On in the El Paso Department right now . Obviously this is all Hands On Deck after a situation like this takes place. You are absolutely right. All Hands On Deck. The adrenaline is running. The Police Officers have a mission to complete. In the aftermath of this, those Police Officers who were on the scene, the First Responders on the scene, theyre going to need a lot of help, you know, a lot. The toughest guys in the world i have seen break down after seeing the things they have seen. Credit to them, they are heroes and deserve all the help we can give them. the evening. Thank you. Victoria baldarama was an eyewitness to what happened. She had a presence of mind to pull out her cell phone and take some video as this shooting was unfolding. Victoria, where are you now . Are you home and safe . Yes, im finally home and safe after three hours of waiting in the sun, triple digits, finally home. Jon so you were in jc penney as i understand it. This is some of the video you shot. You were in jc penney as all of this unfolded . Thats right. It was just another day. I was with my parents shopping. They announced they were shutting down the store. And i you know didnt really think much of it until they started kind of telling us to go towards the corner of the store and, you know, red flags went up because it wasnt really, you know, the average thing you see
every day, so i got scared. My parents got scared, and i mean, i was kind of in survival mode at that point. Jon we see people in front of you, again, youre carrying the camera here. We see people in front of you with their hands in the air. Was that a command from police . Yes, so the we were originally going to be exited out from the building from jc penney, but then the s. W. A. T. Team came by and got us to like leave the building with our hands up, but it was really scary. I had never been through anything like that, and were lucky that we had all of these people out there helping us, local police as well as the s. W. A. T. Team that helped us get out of the building safely. Jon so did you hear the shots . Did you know there was a shooting, or you just heard the announcement on the store pa . We i so theres not very good service at the mall,
so i wasnt getting updates of what was going on outside in the world, and so no one really knew what was going on, and we just had heard rumors, you know, that there was a shooter at the walmart right next door, and even a woman that i was talking to outside while we were waiting, she told me that she heard gunshots inside the mall, and she had her little girl with her, and she was crying, and she was telling me that they really didnt know what to do. They just ran towards the door. Jon the walmart in particular, its been described as having basically one driveway entrance, which made it hard for people to get out of there. Are you familiar with that part of the layout . Yes, so it is pretty cramped. That walmart does have fewer exits than the average walmart. Its right next to the mall, so
traffic is just crazy. Jon this was a particularly busy shopping day too, as i understand it . Yep, i mean, kids either are going Back To School this coming monday or are already back at school. Jon is that why you were at the mall . Yes, i was we were out looking for something for a gift for my aunt, because its her birthday, so we were out there doing that. Jon in this video that again that you shot with your cell phone, you know, the people, they have their hands in the air, and theyre moving with purpose, but they seem fairly calm. Was that your experience . Was there a lot of panic, or were people handling it pretty well . I think well, i think people just had different reactions because we didnt know what was going on exactly. Some people just, you know, were trying to stay calm, but other
people were just totally breaking down. There was a woman behind me that was, you know, crying and her family, they were trying to comfort her and calm her down. So a lot of like different reactions in that whole situation. Jon did you see any of the victims because apparently there were a couple of dozen of them . Yeah, so right next door where they had most of the, you know, these victims that were shot and killed, we kind of tried to stay away from the area because the police directed us like right in the middle between the mall and that walmart, but a lot of rumors that we were just hearing and pictures started circulating around of these bodies that were, you know, inside the walmart, and that just, you know, gave us more anxiety because we didnt know what was going on. Jon but overall, it sounds like you think that the police handled everything very very
well there . Yeah, definitely. Especially because in those types of situations, its hard to gather up all these people. I mean the mall is always packed, especially on a saturday. So i applaud them for being able to handle that situation. Jon yeah. And most likely that is why the shooter chose this particular time to go on his rampage. Rebecca grant is a National Security and military analyst, you know, at a time like this, dr. Grant, everybody wonders why. Weve got a 21yearold white male. There are rumors and only rumors that he posted some kind of a manifesto online. But typically thats the age
where a lot of these mass shooters decide to do this kind of thing, early 20s, sometimes late teens. Yes, thats right. I think right now we have no information about motive. Several of your experts have warned us about speculating too much. But, you know gets me in the heart, and i wonder is there a Terrorism Connection . We remember the Pulse Nightclub or the boston bombings or even fort hood, and we wonder about that possible terrorist connection. And, you know, one thing i want to say here is thats part of the reason that we still have our u. S. Military forces doing so much Counterterrorism Work is to prevent any more of this type of incident because we do worry about that. Again, we dont know anything at this point about motive, but we do know that this lone shooter
who appears to have picked this target for a reason, does begin to fit into some of that prright. He San Bernardino shootings where the husband basically. It is an easy way to create panic and terror. Thats right. The department of Homeland Security and others are pretty good at keeping statistics on who is most likely to carry out these kinds of attacks. They cant obviously pinpoint things in advance, but they use that as part of the Education Process for Law Enforcement and for the military, and there are often as you look at all the incidents there are some common elements, male is a common element. Young, often there has been some previous Firearms Exposure or training, whether thats civilian or sometimes there is a
brush with some type of military training. Sometimes these individuals so sadly have actually been in the United States military. So there are certain key indicators that are looked for as Law Enforcement is trained more broadly as to how to be on the alert for this type of incident. And of course as we remember back from about a month ago, there were some enhanced bullet about potential isis threats to large gathering in the u. S. , maybe just propaganda on their part but those were issued. Jon when Something Like this breaks out, the first thing that pops into your mind is the possibility of some kind of, you know, organized terrorism, not necessarily domestic. It is more its the tragedy of course is first, but yes as a National Security analyst, theres part of my brain that always goes bam, is that something to do with it . Then i wait and watch as we all
are tonight to learn more about the motive. The fact is the world we live in, we know the physical caliphate of isis has been defeated, the Terrorist Groups continue to say they want to target the west, Attack America and europe, and this is the kind of thing we see. In the last four or five years since 2013, theres been a bit of rise in attacks here in the u. S. I think the Threat Indicators are normally low, but they are never zero. Theyre there, and yes, i do because of the world we live in, i always think about that in the back of my mind. Jon especially with el paso sitting right on what is obviously a very porous border, you have to wonder about those things. A very porous border, and again, we dont know the identity. We dont know the motive. But we do know we have a very large flow of undocumented people coming across that border. The vast majority probably arent terrorists, but if you are a foreign terrorist group,
theres at least going to be chatter about that open border, and so again, from a National Security perspective, i go a little bit on alert thinking about that possibility too. Jon dr. Jon now with us on the phone is glen oakley, an eyewitness to the el paso shooting. He was in the mall, ran to leave, and saw kids without their parents who were scared and alone. He picked up as many as he could and carried them to safety. How many was that, glen . Any idea . It was about a total of about 11 to 13, but i could only get about four to five. When you say young kids, how old are we talking . I would say about 5 to 7. Jon wow. They were separated from their parents or they were just doing a little shopping on their own in what most parents would consider to be a very safe
place . No, they were on their own because at most malls you know those little playpens that kids would be playing in, it was like one of those type of things. Jon how did you know, what crossed your mind . Did you see the gunman . You just heard the shots . How did you know that this was an active shooting situation . Well, i was in another store, a sports store, i was buying a jersey, and a little kid ran in there and it was an active shooter in walmart. I didnt pay him no mind because he was just a little kid and he wasnt in walmart so how did he know. So i walked into foot locker. Thats when i heard the gunshots. Im in the military and have license to carry, so, you know, being in the military, you think
get cover, get away from the enemy, but were by foot locker and i see some people running out of foot locker because they didnt want to stay in there so they tried to go through dillards and make it to the parking lot, so im thinking im the only one with a weapon legally, so i run with them because, you know, in case they get in case they come across something that will harm them, i could be there to protect them. While were running toward dillards, we run past the playpen. I see a whole bunch of kids running, so i grabbed as many as possible, and i tried to get a couple others to help me, but, you know, theyre so scared and terrified, they just keep running. So i stopped and grabbed as many as i could and brought them with me. Jon we are all grateful for that. Im sure their parents are as well. So you are licensed to carry. Youre a member of the military, which branch by the way . Im in the army. Also registered in my name. Every weapon i have is
registered. Jon yeah. So youre licensed to carry. You actually had a weapon on you at the time. But you did not see the gunman; correct . No, i didnt. I mean, i just did now like on the internet, but during that time, no, i didnt. Jon yeah, because the shooting apparently did start in the walmart, and then he somehow made his way over to the mall, at least thats what the early information is from police. Again, were expecting to get a News Conference from local authorities about half hour from now. Well go there live when that takes place. Just kind of wrap up your thoughts for us, glenn. I mean, you are there to buy a jersey, and all of a sudden, gunshots and pandemonium break out and you wind up rescuing a bunch of children. What is going through your mind tonight . I was putting the kids before
myself. If i had a child, if i wasnt around my child, i would want another one to react to help my child without me being around them, so i stopped and grabbed as many as possible. Jon are el paso, or just deployed no, im. Home of fort hood . Hattary. They are retired. Jon glenn, we thank you for your service. We thank you for doing what you did today to try to put the minds of those little kids at ease, grabbing six or seven kids is no small feat, and we appreciate it. We know their parents do.
