Well hear from both parties. For the gop, mitt romney, for the democrats, bob cardin. What x factors could swing the swing states . Well check in with our campaign cowboys, karl rove and joe trippi. Plus, democrats continue to distance themselves from president obama ahead of tuesdays vote. Speaker tillis wants to make this race about the president. This race is about who is going to represent North Carolina in the u. S. Senate. Our special election sunday group, brit hume, megyn kelly, george will and Juan Williams weigh in. All right now on Fox News Sunday. Welcome to fox news election headquarters in new york. Two days before millions of americans go to the polls. And hello again from fox news, where were getting ready for Election Night when the pollsters and pundits stop talking and you tell us who you want running the government. And the surprise right now is how close many of the key races still are, especially in the battle for control of the u. S. Senate. We want to get the latest on two of those contests. First, kentucky, where republican Mitch Mcconnell is in a battle for reelection as he hopes to become Senate Majority leader. Heres carl cameron. Reporter chris, no indumb bant has more riding on 2014 than Mitch Mcconnell. He stands to be the majority leader if they can pick up six seats but first he has to win reelection. Mcconnell has had a narrow but steady lead in the polls. Though hes unpopular as the Gop Senate Leader in washington, he has lashed the more democratic president to allison luil aliso now face for what . A new face to make harry reid the majority lead of the senate. I am not an empty dress, i am not a rubber stamp and i am not a cheerleader. Grimes calls mcconnell a gop obstructionist. She may have gone too far by refusing to say if she voted for obama in the last election. Its been nasty and personal on both sides. Games is mailing flyers with a photo of a black family and the words, stop Mitch Mcconnell, hes targeting our president and community. Mcconnell by contrast added a lighthearted ad to soften his image. Spending in this race is expected to top 100 million. Both sides are frantically trying to get out the vote in the final hours. And theres some indication that mcconnell may be pulling away. Chris . Carl, thank you. Now, lets take a look at louisiana b louisiana, one of a number of traditionally republican states where Democratic Senators are struggling to hold onto their seats. Mary landrieu is under fire will for some recent comments she made. Fox News National correspondent john roberts joins us from new orleans. Reporter chris, good morning to you. Incumbent democratic snore Mary Landrieu is in her fight for her political life. Polls suggest she doesnt have the votes to win right out on tuesday and could lose in a runoff. She pulling out all the stops to try to turn her fortunes around. Give her three days for six more years reporter senator landrieu brought in the big democratic gun, Hillary Clinton to rally voters yesterday. At the same time, she doubled down under a controversial statement that the president s popularity in louisiana is suffering in part because of racism. What do you say to people who say you insulted the state . It doesnt bother me. I think the statement stands for itself. Reporter to many republicans, bill cassidy, her charge was outrageous. She alleges we are sexist and racist. Now, that is wrong. She bee smem reporter dr. Ben carson in hopes of winning the tea party vote. He told me landrieus comments were Old Fashioned and inflammatory, simply to manipulate people. Ive been to louisiana a lot of times and i feel nothing but love here. So, dont know what shes talking about. I really dont. Reporter so, if landrieu really hopes to hold onto her seat she needs to turn out africanamericans. An analysis of early voting shows shes got pretty good numbers but the question is, chris, whether those numbers are good enough. John, thank you. With just two days till the election, we want to hear the Closing Arguments from both sides. First, the republicans and their last president ial nom neeshgs mitt romney, who has been campaigning for the gop candidates in more than two dozen states across the country. Govern governor, welcome back to Fox News Sunday. Thank you, chris. Good to be with you. Two days before the election, what is the republican Closing Argument . Why should voters on tuesday vote for the gop . First, this is really the last chance for america to pass judgment on the Obama Administration and on its policies. The president himself said hes not on the ballot, but his policies are. That includes weakness overseas which leads to the rise of isis and obamacare to let people keep their doctor and their insurance. Its a policy of also basic amnesty for those who come to the quunt illegally. Thats where the president will head as soon as the election is over. By the way, those are policies not helpful for the poor in this country. Under the president , the policies of have led to greater poverty and greater income gap between the rich and the poor. The Republican Party is saying, look, were going to say a different directions. Were going to break the blockade in washington with a republican senate. Well have the keystone pipeline, well secure the border, jumpstart the economy and help get people out of poverty and their kids will have better schools. Governor, i want to pick up on the issue of the economy which according to the polls is everyones top concern. The president this weekend made the argument he and democrats have made some Real Progress since the recession. Take a look, sir. Over the past 55 months our businesses have added 10. 3 million new jobs. On thursday we learned over the past six months our economy has grown at its fastest pace since 2003. Now the president says democrats want to raise the minimum wage and spend more money on infrastructure jobs and that your Party Opposes all that. Look, the question is whether or not anything is going to get done in washington. Of course the economy comes back after a recession. The president s policies delayed that recovery and made it much more difficult for americans to get back to work. Record numbers of americans have dropped out of the workforce. But we have such gridlock in washington, in part because the senate has put up a blockade that keeps any new bill the house passes and theyve passed some 370 bills. They dont ever get to the president s desk because the senate says no. Its time for us to break that blockade, pass some legislation, actually get jobs growing in america again, put these pieces of legislation on the president s desk. We do that, youll see the president sign some of them. Well see some increase in wages. Youll see an increase in jobs. And i think the American People recognize its time for action as opposed to just fingerpointing and blame in washington. Governor, one way democrats are going after republicans this year is the same way president obama went after you in 2012. In fact, people are now calling it getting romneyd. Here are democrademocrat michel and rob quinn. He said from his own words that he spent the majority of his career outsourcing jobs. And, you know, i just question whether thats the criteria we want in the person running for senate. My opponent is a job eliminator. As i said earlier, hes started firms to teach other firms how to outsource. Governor, have you come up with a way businessmen who are running should answer that . I think youre finding democrats across the country desperate at this stage. Trying to distance themselves who they voted for time and time again, even wont admit they do. I think the American People recognize these attacks on a persons character, the attacks on women, the attacks related to race, all of these things are getting weaker and weaker and people are saying, were tired of being manipulated by Democratic Candidates who take us for granted. I think youll find these arguments have less and less sway and people are stopping and saying, look, do you really want to see change in washington . Do you want to actually have a blocking of the whole gridlock process. And do you actually want to have progress on things like the economy, schools, health care and strengthen of americas hand abroad. One other issue we havent spoken about, which is on peoples mind, the less than competent management of the federal government. Everything from the irs to the Veterans Administration to the centers for disease control. And hhs ichtsz on the implementation of obamacare. People want to see real change and recognize as long as you have the same players, harry reid and barack obama blockading any kind of progress, youll see america going in the same direction weve seen it. But, governor, lets talk about the republicans and how much theyve changed. After 2012 the Republican National committee did what was a postmortem and what they need to do to do better in the election, reach out more. Heres what they say about hispanics. We must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform. If we do not our partys appeal will continue to shrink to core constituencies only. Bipartisan basis they passed immigration reform, House Republicans blocked it. What youre going to see, when you have Republican House and republican senate, you have to have, of course, democrats still vote for the bills republicans come up with because you cant get something through the Senate Unless you have 60 votes. That means you have to get a lot of democrats. But youre going to see a provision, first of all, to secure the border. Second of all, to deal with nose who come here illegally. Third, to make sure our immigration policies are more open and transparent to the many people who do want to come here illegally. Thats going to happen. Youre going to see a bill actually reach the desk of the president if we finally have someone besides harry reid sitting in the senate. Were going to get it done. I think republicans in the house are looking whats coming from the senate and saying, you know what, we can do better if we pick up more seats in the senate. Cant tell you whether were going to win the senate on tuesday but i can tell you were going to pick up a lot of seats. We have a better prospect of dealing with legislation that deals with the issue it describes. Republican chair preibus put out 11 principles for what he says the party should stand for but they were economy. On the economy, we need to start impr growing americas economy instead of washingtons economy so that working americans see better wages. Health care, we need to start over with Real Health Care reform that puts patients and their doctors in charge. I guess the question s have republicans made a mistake not running on a more specific agenda of their own . You talk about breaking the gridlock. Yes, a house and senate will pass bills but will they pass bills the president will sign . Well, thats, of course, a test. The good news is in many cases the president will sign them. For instance, with regard to the economy, the president asked for trade promotion authority. Harry reid wont give him that authority. Republicans want him to have that authority. We to want see trade negotiations under way and see if we cant find nor places to sell american goods. That will help the economy. The president will sign that. With regards to health care, for instance, when preibus talks about health care, we have obamacare for a couple of years. A lot of things democrats agree with republicans on. People in parttime work, driving people out of fulltime jobs. These changes i think youll see the president sign. Im absolutely convinced youre going to see with a Republicanled Senate f were lucky enough to get that, youll see bills get to the president s desk, he will sign some. Some he wont sign. No question about that. Hell veto some. But well find out who really is the party of no. Finally, as soon as this election is over on tuesday, you know were all going to Start Talking about 2016 and the president ial race. One of the Big Questions is whether or not youre going to run again. Your most recent comment on that was you said, probably not, but quote, things could change. On the other hand, your wife, ann romney had a different answer. She wrote when asked, are you going to run again . Done. Completely. Not only mitt and i are done, but the kids are done. Done, done, done. That is six l we both speak for the romneys. Were both romneys. But i found any c time you Say Something different in answering a question than you said it in the prior time you answered it, it raises a lot of speculation as to whether things are changing. The reality is this and ill say it the same way, im not running, im not planning on running, but im not going to add anything else to that story. So youre not saying youre done . What im saying is, im not running, im not planning on running. Thats all i got for you, chris. No more than that. Finally, would the results of this lengz, election, would that your decision at all as to whether or not to run . No, i can tell you this. Its going to be a big republican year. I cant tell you whether or not we get the senate but well pick up a lot of seats in the senate. Were going to pick up a lot of seats in the house. Were going to pick up seats across the country, in part, because as the president said, his policies are on the ballot this year. Frankly, this is people in america passing judgment on the Obama Administration, with which theyre not very happy. Governor romney, we want to thank you. Thank you for joining us today. Always good to talk with you, sir. Thanks, chris. Good to be with you. Up next, the democrats who are fighting to hang onto their majority in the senate, senator ben cardin joins us with his partys Closing Arguments. What do you think will happen tuesday . Let me know on facebook or twitter foxnewssunday and use fns. [ female announcer ] hands were made for talking. Feet. Tiptoeing. And were back at fox news election headquarters in new york where well be watching as results come in tuesday night. We heard from the republican side, now its the democrats turn to make their case. Joining us senator ben cardin. Welcome back to Fox News Sunday. Thanks, chris. Lets start with the question i started with mitt romney, why should folks vote for your Party Tuesday . We feel good about whats happening. You look at the economy, you pointed out, 55 consecutive months of job growth, 10 million new jobs, Unemployment Rate the lowest since 2008. The economy is usually what turns voters direction. So we feel good, the facts on the ground indicate things are going well. Ive talked to many of my colleagues in tough races over the weekend. Theyre feeling optimistic theyre doing well. We have a good ground game to get our vote out. Were feeling good about tuesday. You say, senator, things are going well but lets drill down in the economic numbers that dont look so good. For all the talk about income inequality by your party, Median Household Income is 8 lower than before the recession. 5. 5 million more People Living below the poverty line and 46. 5 Million People are getting food stamps, 14. 5 million more than when the president was sworn in. A Record Number of people may have jobs but theyre temporary jobs. So, i guess the thing s maybe some of the mack yoe numbers are good but peoples everyday existence, theyre not feeling it. I think voters know whos fight are for them. Democrats are fighting for College Education costs, to increase real wages in this country, fighting for gender equity. But you theyve seen republicans use filibusters to block that. You say that but Median Household Income is 8 lower than before the recession. Income inequality has gotten worse under president obama, not better. We are not satisfied but we are on the right path, moving in the right direction. Its been the republican filibusters on many opportunities to grow the middle class. We are
