Tonight Police Providing details about what happened when a man described as a disgruntled employee said to be terminated today shot his way through a warehouse, 6 people dead, 5 Police Officers wounded. Mike tobin has details. Reporter part of the new details, he was set to be fired today, that is as far as that goes with those details. It happened very fast. Police officers arrived with informative the first calls of an active shooter. The first Police Officer was shot out front of the henry platt facility. The other officers were shot trying to enter the facility. The police chief says of all the officers shot and injured that all happened in the first 5 minutes of arriving on scene. The gunman, gary martin, was armed with a smith wesson handgun. The caliber is unknown. The amount of ammo unknown, 5 civilians were killed, we are only talking one additional civilian injury but there could be more. The gunman himself was killed, 5 Police Officers were shot, none of their injuries are considered lifethreatening, a sixth Police Officer had a knee injury. The police chief drew attention to the courage of responding officers. I know how quick by the response by our offices save lives today. They took on gunfire but pressed on until they located the shooter. They recovering from physical wounds and the others are home safe recovering from emotional wounds. They are true heroes and we honor them for their service. A bomb robot was sent into the apartment of the gunman. The chief says no additional evidence was found in the residence of the gunman. The shooting scene is being examined for evidence.
