Joe biden fell into that group, but the question is will Amy Klobuchar<\/a> really over perform that much. But if he performs, thats better than fourth and i what were fifth and i will but is not enough strength to just go on . I finished it and it improved in New Hampshire<\/a>. It feels to me, we are not going to come out of this New Hampshire<\/a> primary this evening with a real feel for whos in charge of how this thing plays out. Tonight we have four candidates are maybe five that are in double digit somewhere and no one is going to have a huge lead and delegates out of this. Its a pretty extraordinary agenda and at this point it seems to be the agenda that is getting the most support in the most traction in the democratic primary. But, thats where the race is. Martha its a huge dichotomy between the message of brainy and the burning comic message of Bernie Sanders<\/a>. The idea that you shouldnt have to pay for college and you shouldnt have to pay for medical care in the United States<\/a>, its something that is really remarkable how much support there is for it. There is. And it may well be enough to get him nominated. You hear Trump Supporters<\/a> end of the republican saying heres a guy he wants to run against. Well im sure you remember back in the campaign in 1980, they are just licking their chops running against this reagan guy, and they found out the hard way that its not a good idea. You have to be careful what you wish for when you are wishing for some other candidates and someone on the other side to win. Bret this is joe biden leading from the airport here. This is just the beginning. We have an entire nation to vote yet and so what im doing, after every vote we have here and then im getting on a plane and heading down there to do a little rally in South Carolina<\/a> to get going. Then im going on the plane to nevada. President trump so how do you read that . You just read it like it, get out of here . I guess it was like the yogi berra line, its getting late early here. He was selling electability. He doesnt have a great at dramatic agenda he obviously doesnt hes not barack obama or jack kennedy with the new face on the scene. He selling tried and true and electable and it appears that hes going to be none of those things at the end of tonight if the results go the way they do. I think hes really in serious trouble and, you know, i know he says we will have nevada and South Carolina<\/a>, two more races, and they dine line up in sense. Especially with minorities and africanamericans. They are looking at these results, too. You are already beginning to see some of the support from biden and South Carolina<\/a> in the polls at least peeling off and going to Bernie Sanders<\/a>. If he finishes fourth or fifth tonight, i think the bottom begins to fall out of the Biden Campaign<\/a>. He can continue running. Martha the alternative seems more attractive. Then we will get more numbers. And, i think thats exactly will right. And thats gone. I dont think there is any history in these two states. And he wasnt actually on the ballot. But can i just say, if you are sitting here, if hes turning exactly the way i hoped it would, and he could get into super tuesday and have a field, he would be happy to run against Bernie Sanders<\/a>. Coming off a fourthplace finish in iowa, i think this could be the end of the Biden Campaign<\/a>. I hope it isnt, but i think this might be the end of the Biden Campaign<\/a> tonight. We had a quick sound bite from joe earlier. Refused to suggest a name democratic moves. We could run mickey mouse against this president and have a shot. You can run mickey mouse against the president and have a shot. He think thats a winnable race. Obviously this president has a huge presence. And we are not taking anything for granted. We are hoping for a big showing tonight. The highest incentive and incumbent president has ever received was Ronald Reagan<\/a> in 1984 and he receives 86 of the vote. Barack obama when he ran for reelection here as the incumbent received just under 81 of the vote and i think tonight you will see a Republican Party<\/a> thats unified behind donald trump it will be looking at around 90 of the vote. Bret esau shannon with the health care is there a vulnerability on the president s side when it comes to the issue of health care . I think its clear that the republicans failed the president , they did not pass a Health Care Bill<\/a> and thats something that should have been done and something that should still be done. We are in such a hyperpartisan environment, and i dont know if the voters will hold the house responsible for that for the administration. But you look at the totality of the of ministrations record and be very supportive, particularly in the economy. One of the things thats been criticized widely is iowa. There are two states that really dont reflect the diversity of the country. South carolina and nevada more so. Why should New Hampshire<\/a> keep this honor of being first in the nation for the primary . Lets be clear. Barack obama one the iowa caucus and so its not that they dont understand a good candidate when they see it, and that no candidate modern political history did not finish first, second or third in iowa and has ever been elected president of the United States<\/a>. If you look at our primary, donald trump won it here years ago, and the luxury of New Hampshire<\/a> is, and Bernie Sanders<\/a> won it last time, and we will see what happens. And i know donald trump when here tonight. I think he will take any of them or all of them together. We are ready to go to this fig fight. Hes got a whole park to himself. From just like here from people on my social media talking, probably mayor pete is the forerunner. I do think its kind of interesting to see who is coming out of this Democratic Party<\/a>. Late polls indicate nearly half of likely democratic primary voters in New Hampshire<\/a> said they could still change their mind in the final moments before casting their ballot. Who do you think about who you might support in the election, do you have any idea yet . And, a city that saw the bottom fall out, he had to work and reinvent himself, and chart a new course. I want a president whos connected connected to those communities. Martha what do you say to those who look at Pete Buttigieg<\/a> and are so impressed by the things you just mentioned . He is 38 years old i believe. When it you run for senate or why dont you run for governor, when it you get some experience under your belt before you run for president of the United States<\/a> . I think thats an easy answer because executive experience is different from legislative experience. Martha it but governors executive experience. Sure. Hes been able to and when people hear him talk, they hear somebody who is not just incredibly smart but who listens well and understands what folks are going through in this country. Someone who they trust to do the right thing. Thats what people are saying. Vice President Biden<\/a> landed in South Carolina<\/a>, how do you read that move . Do you think the Biting Campaign<\/a> is done . I wouldnt speculate on that but i would say its a pretty remarkable thing for the mayor of a small midwest city who most people thought didnt have a shot at the beginning of the process to have come out of the top of the pack in iowa and to be one of the leading contenders here in New Hampshire<\/a>, and come out. Its a strong field come as you said the Vice President<\/a> of the United States<\/a> and to neighboring state senators. So we will see what tonight brings. The theme of this campaign is that as people have gotten to know pete and see him facetoface, they see him as commander in chief. Just over 20 minutes until the pole close here in New Hampshire<\/a>. This is 3 of the vote, very, very early in the evening but you can see what we are looking at here. 32. 4 and then Amy Klobuchar<\/a> a third with 17 and Elizabeth Warren<\/a> at 11 . Bret this is obviously very early and its nice to see numbers. Its really not really nice to see you. We will be tracking this on the bottom of the screen throughout as the number start to populate and obviously the polls close entirely across the state in 16 and a half minutes. Martha lets bring in our panel, marc thiessen, kristen solstice anderson, a columnist at Washington Examiner<\/a> and juan williams, cohost of the five and fox news political analyst. We are getting a first look at some of these numbers so, juan, let me start with you. As we look at these democrats and bernie Bernie Sanders<\/a> as expected. 32 is a big number. If he maintains that, thats really great for burning. Thats not what he did last year. That last year but in 2016. Thats pretty incredible. And, you are looking at fourth and fifth, i dont know. I think hes got to at least get into double digits but if he doesnt get into double digits then i dont see how how he can say that this is anything but a massive failure. Martha sanders is one point out at 30 , donald trump got 35 of the vote here. This was always going to be a very tough place for joe biden to compete, so already we have expectations of working a bit in his favor. He was not expected to win. But for places a long way from a thought strong thirdplace finish for instance so you can see why his Campaign Must<\/a> have seen this coming and why he decided to get out of the state early and go to South Carolina<\/a> but this is really bad news for him. We can see a story developing and its an Amy Klobuchar<\/a> kind of news night. Thats very tight, and it could in fact be inverted and, Pete Buttigieg<\/a> could come in third which would be bad for him. I think the flip race to watch as the thirdplace race. And if klobuchar gets that and Elizabeth Warren<\/a> doesnt get that, thats bad for her because she has nowhere else to go. So this was it. And if she cant pull at least third then shes dead. The reason that there is so much interested, theres a lot of democrats i dont like the guy thats in first place. There is no question. Lets step back for a second, we got really numbers in every everyone is quite sanders representing the progressive or the elected wing or liberal wing of the party, then you have people like klobuchar, buttigieg, and warren, and dont forget Mike Bloomberg<\/a> sending out there saying if these guys falter, im coming in the lane. And if we would have instead picked up uncle klobuchars the fact that she has momentum at the moment. When we looked on the road which is what ive been trying to do, neither of these women have a 50 state strategy. I think warren has better game ground going but klobuchar doesnt have it and doesnt have the money either. With the good performance here tonight, that picture then begins to take shape. Bret a lot of people to Pay Attention<\/a> to stars and who they are endorsing. Clay aiken, the singer, came out and endorsed joe biden. But today he put out a quote saying, let me be clear. My support for the Vice President<\/a> has been genuine but as a voter in early stages have begun to have their say like so many of my love democrats, i found myself grappling with the options and realize the Democratic Party<\/a> of 2020 is ready for a fresher voice and klobuchar is that voice. Does anyone. Theres a debate a few years ago and, a significant portion of voters making this decision, there are a lot of democrats across the country that may be early on in this process, i like joe biden. Now that more people in the field are getting more exposure and biden has really begun to falter when hes put to the test at the ballot box, its given someone like klobuchar an opportunity. Martha we look at klobuchar and warren and they were close in the polls going in but the biggest difference between them is that when asked, do you think of socialists should be president of the United States<\/a>, ought Amy Klobuchar<\/a> was the only person that said no. Because shes basically a socialist, should be raising her hand against herself. She and Bernie Sanders<\/a> have been competing for the far left lane of this. Its not out of the realm of possibility that she could have a little bit of a surge and come in third in which case she be the comeback kid. But when she comes back in fourth or even fifth, and then look at the separation between third, fourth and fifth. The second and third are really close and theres a tenpoint gap, thats really bad and has implications. Just about 10 minutes until the last polls close in New Hampshire<\/a>. Com martha we are back with a look at the latest numbers that we have. 6 just to give you an idea. The thinking is that they would get as high as 270,000 votes in the state of New Hampshire<\/a>. We will go on the bottom which will be a record after 2008. But you look along the bottom and nowhere near there. But we have a good sense of where things stand at 6 . Bret back now with a panel marc thiessen, kristin and mark williams. Mark, as we look at these numbers, what we are not talking about is joe biden. He is hoping South Carolina<\/a> can save them but at some point South Carolina<\/a>s looking at these numbers to. Of course, the people in each state are watching tonight in sync with the results are. So i just dont see how biden recovers from tonight. Of course, Michael Bloomberg<\/a> is sitting out there watching these results too am feeling much better about his prospects. But here is the interesting thing that is emerging. If biden falls out and you have sanders, you have buttigieg and bloomberg as front runners, all of them have problem with the africanamerican vote. The reason the democrats lost in 2016 they were not able to energize the supporters in the africanamerican community. Right now all the people that are leading the democratic race are real problems of africanamericans, especially bloomberg now after what came out this afternoon. Martha lets take a look at what came out this afternoon. A big store that got a lot of attention. He came out afterwards and said, i apologize, but with stand up for the folks. 95 of the murders murder victims. [inaudible] what do you think . There is two ways to think of this, well, the number support what the mayor said. If you look at where the crime is high. But the other way to look at this and i look at this as an africanamerican as to say, when my son or sons go out the door, i dont want the police to immediately identify them as a criminal and suspect 9 out of 10 of the people subjected to stopped were not arrested for anything. They didnt have anything on them. So that creates antagonism between the police and the community. You know, just stop and think, everybody, blacks, latinos, whites want good policing. We want to be safe in our neighborhoods and homes. If you create a situation where you feel, in fact, the police are a force im antagonistic to you and your family and your children, that creates an inflammatory, combustible situation and i dont think the mayor understood that in that language the way he is thinking is so indifferent to the minority experience. Martha given the fact that biden with a bottom falling out apparently, where do you think africanamerican voters will look given some of these issues that people have as mark said . I think you have to remember they are strongly antitrump and im speaking generalization. But i would say two things to you, martha. One is biden has the lead in South Carolina<\/a>. We talked about these things that are not taken in spirals. The polls a couple of days ago. Right. What you sow in the quinnipiac poll, the decline in black support for joe biden because of the decline and the notion that he was the most electable, the guy that could do the best job of battling in poverty and beating down on donald trump. I will say this, i think he has a ground game. He still has a get, ground game in South Carolina<\/a> and carolina. We do see some of the black spot support and latino support coming, no surprise as we sit here in New Hampshire<\/a>, Bernie Sanders<\/a>. Bret that is an interesting phenomenon for the Sanders Campaign<\/a> that has seen all kinds of different folks from different groups coming to his support. Martha this is something to keep in mind.
