us. president trump calling the biden family a criminal enterprise amid an investigation into hunter biden's yo alleged business dealings. todd: joe biden ramps up his attacks over the president's coronavirus response. griff jenkins joins us with more. >> reporter: hard to believe, 15 days to go. the gloves were coming off yesterday with candidates in full attack mode, seeking to flip crucial battleground states. in nevada, the president zeroed in on allegations of the new york post of hunter biden story, suggesting the former vice president and his son capitalized on washington influence peddling. >> joe biden is and always has been a corrupt politician. he always has been. and as far as i'm concerned, the biden family is a criminal enterprise. >> reporter: while much of the post story remains unauthenticated, twitter or facebook's efforts to censor the story has outraged some of capitol hill. house minority leader kevin mccarthy says more scrutiny is much needed. >> big tech should be ashamed of you how they're so clearly trying to aid the joe biden campaign. federal government created a liability protection for tech companies to have a platform like facebook and twitter where they cannot be sued, they're censorincensoring newspapers ban what they believe. >> reporter: in the tar heel state joe biden ratcheted up his signature attack on the president over his response to the pandemic. >> trump said at one of his rallies, we've turned the corner. my grandfather would say this guy's got around the bend if he thinks we've turned the corner. turned the corner? things are getting worse. he continues to lie to us about the circumstances. >> reporter: speaking of rallies, the president will hold not one but two separate trump rallies in arizona today. biden is off the trail, sending his running mate to hit florida. nationally, trump trails biden by nearly 9 points. the dnc president is telling voters not to take poll numbers for granted. we're in the final stretch here and it's going to get pretty rough and tumble i think. jillian: i think you're right. thank you very much. todd: white house economic advisor larry kudlow says the president's in great shape and the administration is focused on the work they still need to do. >> the president is out there. i mean, he's now running very, very hard. he's doing two or three events a day. he just got through with covid himself. he looks great. i've spent time with him. he is speaking great. i hope he continues to pound away on these economic issues. i think it goes hand in hand with covid. we're going to keep the virus open. we learned a lot. we've helped a lot. we've got the testing of out there. we're looking now at the onset of therapies, cures and vaccines. this is all great news for the economy. more businesses will come open. todd: dr. fauci said the economic would have to get really bad before he would advocate for another national lockdown. we're just three days away from the second presidential debate. the trump campaign says the president could be pulling back on the reins this time. >> i do think that president trump is going to give joe biden a little bit more room to explain himself on some of these issues. whether it is are you the chairman, are you the big guy as we've seen articulated in e-mails, do you support packing the court. jillian: no word from the biden america. jillian: that next debate, thursday in nashville. todd: a brazen attack on police all caught on camera. terrifying footage shows the moment a man throws a flaming torch into a seattle police car with an officer inside. jillian: the ongoing violence is affecting forces nationwide. ashley strohmier is live with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. recently released video shows the suspect throwing a torch into a seattle police car while an officer was sitting inside. watch this. >> seattle police. stop, dude. >> reporter: you heard it there, the officer started shooting at the man who runs off and smoke from the torch eventually obstructs the dashcam video. this comes at the same time a record number of seattle officers are leaving the department. according to the budget office report, at least 118 officers have left the city's police department this year with 39 leaving in september alone. this as violent crime has increased. there were 78 more shootings in september this year than last. it was a violent weekend in port portland. police said there were three separate shootings and a stabbing within a 12 hour window, tensions escalating between protesters and federal officers outside of port lanted i.c.e. building -- portland's i.c.e. building saturday. many residents say they're worried the department is stretched too thin and it's affecting police response times. police responded in a statement, saying for lower priority calls response times can be lengthy and we recognize that it can be frustrating. tom homan says police are under attack and more officers will leave their departments if the violence continues and he will join us later this morning to explain all that, guys. todd: all right, ashley strohmier, thank you. jillian: a manhunt is underway for an armed and dangerous suspect who shot a tennessee police officer during a traffic stop. todd: police say christopher kiss got out of his car and fired several shots at the officer after being pulled over. he then drove off. his car was found abandoned in northern georgia. also breaking, police warning paramount pictures after reports of a man armed with a knife. the man barricaded himself inside one of the buildings. the times says he's a suspect in a sexual assault case. there are reports of shots fired. police have not confirmed any details. we will bring you the latest updates as we get them. jillian: a california woman is found alive and well after disappearing in zion national park for 12 days. she was reported missing when she failed to show up for her shuttle bus after hiking in the utah park. she was found after a tip from a park visitor. she has been reyea nighted -- reunited with her family. todd: the dodgers headed to the world series after a thrilling game seven. >> towering fly ball. the dodgers come from behind in the series. they come from behind in game seven. and they win the national league pependant! jillian: dodgers beat the braves 4-3. los angeles trailed 3-1. they're going to their third world series in four years as you referenced. they will face the tampa bay rays tomorrow night on fox. i can't say that same thing for my team or yours. todd: it seems like only people playing sports right now, the los angeles and tampa markets. tampa won the hockey. la won the basketball and you now they're playing if baseball. jillian: must be nice. joe biden still hasn't given a clear answer on court packing but his supporters say that's not the main issue. >> we also got to talk about what kinds of reforms we're interested in, a long, complex discussion that is clearly not what's on the minds of the people who are trying to use it as a distraction. jillian: can joe biden afford to wait? congressman michael burgess answers that coming up. todd: new social media backlash for the campaign, the ties between facebook, twitter and his transition team, when we come back. >> she did a phenomenal job, ran circles around the democrats. they revealed -- they're not interested in judges. they're interested in having the supreme court be a policy making arm of the federal government. that's not the intention. it should be a nonpartisan arm of the federal government that dispenses justice. todd: welcome back. the senate vote on the supreme court nomination of judge amy coney barrett just days you away, despite attempts to with you. jillian: thank you. so what do you expect to happen this week? >> i do expect for the confirmation to proceed as we saw from the testimony that judge barrett gave before the panel, there's no way not to confirm her. she is -- she is what you would want in a justice. so i expect confirmation to go ahead. there will likely be some words said because that's the united states senate, but she's going to get confirmed. todd: all right. meantime, joe biden says he will make clear his position on court packing when the senate votes on amy coney barrett. take a listen. >> i'm going to make clear my position the next several days when they vote on this nominee. when the committee makes a decision and the vote givens to occur, that's when i'll let you know my position. todd: congressman, why the wait? >> there's no good explanation of. why wouldn't he tell us who he would pick if the pick were his to make. why can we not have some insight into who would be the next justice or of justices if he decided to expand the number of judges on the court. this is what makes no sense. and the people don't understand why the lack of transparency here. if you're hiding something, it looks like you're hiding something. jillian: let's talk about this here for a second. because you are a member of the gop doctor's caucus. let's wear that hat for a moment. dr. fauci said covid-19 cases would have to get really, really bad before he advocates for another lockdown. let's take a listen to what he has to say. this is on sunday. >> how bad would things have to get for you to advocate a national lock glown they would have to get really, really bad. first of all, the country is fatigued with restrictions. put shutdown away and say we're going to use public health measures to help us safely get to where we want to go. jillian: what do you think about that? what do you think constitutes really, really bad? because we are seeing 21 states have hit a seven-day peak for new cases. so what does really, really bad mean, in your mind? >> remember, the original lockdowns, it was all about let's not let our hospital icus and hospital ventilator beds become over-utilized. so that was the purpose, was to keep our hospitals from being overwhelmed. we're so much better at treating this illness now than last march and last april. look, here's the real tragedy here. the vaccine is basically ready to go. and it's not going to be released because why? i guess political reasons. but if we're facing another -- even a community-wide increase in cases, look, i get on a plane twice a week and travel to washington, d.c. on a plane. and washington, d.c. has, what, a 24% positivity rate. i want a vaccine. i don't necessarily care that all of the hoops are jumped through yet but if it's available i'd pay for it as a taxpayer, i want to be able to take it. i'll sign whatever waivers i need to. todd: let's talk about the vaccine for a moment. i'm a little confused. hopefully as a doctor you can break this down for us. on the one hand, pfizer said they're rolling out the vaccine, implying to me that it's going to be ready. literally in the same breath, in the same article, it says it won't be ready until mid-november at the earliest, late november, early december. i don't understand that. can you explain? >> because sombered has not -- some board has not yet decided it's going to be safe. the president has right to try in this country. let me try that vaccine. as a taxpayer, i paid for it. i trust the science as the democrats will always say. i'll sign whatever disclosures i have to sign. i'll sign whatever waivers i have to sign. so that i don't sue someone if it isn't perfect. but i want the protection. i want the protection that i paid for. jillian: i guess we'll wait and see, as long as everything gets fda approval and see the steps we have to go from here on out. congressman, thank you for your actual. appreciate it. it is 19 minutes after the social media users are beginning to question the motives. todd: carley shimkus with fox news headlines 24/7 here with all the details. >> good morning, guys. the biden campaign is facing backlash over connections to big tech in light of facebook and twitter censoring the story about hunter biden's business dealings. jessica, a facebook executive, and twitter's director of public policy, carlos mangi are currently on biden's transition team. the revelation sparking backlash on social media. eric on twitter says joe biden hires facebook executive for transition team, no conflict here. paul on twitter says good lord, it's becoming a bit obvious, isn't it. a biden campaign spokesperson said in a statement, as the vice president's former deputy counsel with experience advising high level federal agency officials, jessica herds is the thoughtful and principled decision maker who can ensure the president's high standards are upheld during the transition. so interesting point to note there, guys. todd: okay. meantime, mr. biden is in trouble with some boi boilermak. >> during the town hall last week, joe biden said that the boilermaker's union which represents tens of thousands of american workers endorsed him for president. but apparently that's not true. let's take a listen to him from that town hall last week. >> the boilermakers overwhelmingly endorse me, the union endorsed me because i sat down with them, went exactly what i would do. >> you know, the boilermakers have not actually made a union-widen doorsment but the chapter being discussed during the town hall, local 154, actually endorsed donald trump for president. former congressman lou barletta posted a tweet saying someone should tell joe biden that the boilermakers he claimed were endorsing him endorsed president trump last month. no word on what the former vice president was talking about there. jillian: it might not be big enough to cause harm but it's certainly big enough for us to say what the hec heckles is hecs going to happen of before the election. >> this was posted on instagram on saturday, it said a refrigerator size space rocket is coming towards us. it may buzz cut earth on november 2nd, the day before the presidential election. he goes on to say it's actually not big enough to cause harm, so if the world ends in 2020, it's not the fault of the universe. so some good and bad news there, guys. but it would be quite unbelievable if this is the way we kick off the presidential election. [ cheering and applause ] >> reporter: the president's visit comes the same weekend nevada opened up early voting. more than 17,000 voters turned out for day one saturday in clark county, which includes las vegas. the president has a busy schedule this week with stops in arizona and north carolina before the big debate with the former vice president on thursday in nashville. in carson city, nevada, david spunt, fox news. jillian: now to this, a record number of americans already casting their ballot. the lawsuits, voting irregularitieses and delays are plaguing the country. more than 370,000 mail-in ballot applications were rejected in pennsylvania. could all a of this spell trouble for election day? here to discuss is fellow for the center for a new american security, cara frederick. thank you for being here. we appreciate it. >> thanks, jillian. jillian: in the case of the pennsylvania number we referenced, 90% of denied application requests in pa were duplicates, stemming off of people checking off a little box that they -- some may have been unaware they were checking off when they were voting in the primaries, requesting a mail-in ballot. that's one example there. we heard of others throughout the country. what do you think is the biggest challenge we're up against right now in the weeks leading up to the election? >> jillian, there are so many to choose from. as you said before, we are absolutely in unchartered territory. there's a confluence of variables that are working together to show that we're really experimenting and this is not necessarily the whitest thing to be doing when partisan accry moacrimony is at high ratn trust in the system among americans is declining. trend polled nearly 80 million mail-in ballots stand to be mailed in for the general he'll he ex, that's double the amount in 2016 so. we're reaching areas where we don't even know what this potentially perfect storm of variables could result in. so definitely need to be patient among the american people right now. jillian: you just mentioned more than double mail-in from 2016. it does seem like this is the way of the future, though. would you disayou agre dis-- dih that? >> not at all. you look at the agencies that cropped up to ensure election integrity and a election security, like the cyber security and infrastructure security agency. so they have a mandate to basically ensure that the way of the future is basically going to be secure, it is going to have integrity and it looks like we're in this for the long haul. so i'm glad u.s. institutions are working together. i'm glad they're putting out information to the american people, saying hey, we might not get the results on election night. it might be weeks afterwards. there's info graphics they put out in terms of partnering with the election assistance commission and whatnot. so being transparent is going to help because absolutely this is the way of the future, it's what we should come to expect going forward. jillian: take a look at the new york times headline, it reads in ohio a printing company is overwhelmed and mail-in ballots are delayed. to the point you made, i think it is important that we talk about this as well. we hear stories of ballots being thrown out or being misplaced, this and that. the overwhelming majority of people who are working, trying to make sure there is integrity in the mail-in ballot process in this election, there are people working day and night to do this and for the american people to not lose faith in our democracy and our system. >> exactly. and democracy by its nature it is messy. it is transparent. it is inclusive. it requires an engaged citizenry. it's not perfect but it's the best thing the world has going for it. americans should be patient and we should stick to that. jillian: cara, thank you very much for your time. certainly messy and some areas of the country, we will continue to follow it. thanks for joining us. >> thanks, jillian. todd: china warning it will take u.s. hostages if charges are not dropped against chinese researchers arrested on american soil. trey yingst joins us live with how the state department is responding. trey, good morning. >> reporter: todd, good morning. the chinese government is threatening to arrest americans in response to the persecution of individuals who are affiliated with the chinese mill friday and were conducting research in the united states. we do know over the summer the fbi arrested multiple researchers who were allegedly coordinating with chinese diplomats at consisten consulate united states. they are looking at intelligence gathering by these individuals. the trump administration ordered china to close the consulate in houston in august. tension remains between washington and beijing. the state department responded saying if china wants to be seen as the world's leading nation, it should respect the rule of law and stop taking hostages. in the past china hazard foreign individuals living in the country on arbitrary charges so this could endanger american citizens who are traveling or living yoliving abroad. todd: thank you very much. today house speaker nancy pelosi and treasury secretary steven mnuchin will resume talks on covid-19 relief, this comes after speaker pelosi gave the white house until tomorrow to reach a deal. >> it only relates to if we want to get it done before the election, which we do. we have to say we have to free the design on some of these things, are we going with it or not and what is the language. i'm optimistic because, again, we've been back and forth on all of this. todd: meantime, the senate set to vote on more ppp funding tomorrow, followed by a vote on $500 billion skinny stimulus bill come wednesday. jillian: a tunnel dug by hand is found near the border in arizona. border patrol sharing photos of the discovery on twitter. now, it's not clear how long the tunnel from mexico is. the agency says they used technology to find it but didn't give any further details. todd: evacuations underway in parts of colorado as wildfires explode in boulder county. heavy winds fueling the left hand canyon fire, destroying hundreds of acres. meantime, take a look at a this. time lapse video showing the near by cal wood fire igniting. more than 8700 acres have been destroyed since flames broke out on saturday. it's the largest wildfire the area has ever seen, currently only 5% contained. jillian: that's devastating. two dozen get rescued from their sinking boat by a cruise ship. the carnival sense vacation spotted the ship off the coast of florida. two of the people saved were children. they were quarantined on the sensation before the coast guard brought them to land. there were no passengers on the cruise ship. it's not clear what caused the smaller boat to sink. todd: get ready for good writing. moose over, check out the moment an extra large substitute checks into a soccer practice in alaska. >> we had to stop soccer because there was a moose. turns out he just wanted to play. are they covering up because hunter biden may be engaged in things that maybe should have been investigated and pros bring prosecuted -- possibly prosecuted? big tech should be shaped of how they're so clearly trying to aid the joe biden campaign. the american public desires free speech. so the federal government created a liability protection for tech companies to have a platform like facebook and twitter for liability protection where they cannot be sued so they just let information out and people are able of to say what they want. but now we're watching that big tech is using this and censoring individuals, even they're censoring the federal government, they're censors newspapers, they're censoring americans based on what they believe. just as china is trying to influence our election, we're finding that twitter and facebook are doing the exact same thing and they should be ashamed and the american public is outraged about this. jillian: kevin mccarthy slamming social media companies for blocking the new york port post's report on hunter biden, calling for congress to scrap section 230 of the 1996 communications decency act which says websites cannot be treated as publishers for users' content. republicans are outraged over twitter locking accounts sharing the story including white house press secretary kayleigh mcenany. todd: the media getting called out by donald trump junior over how the scandal is being reported. >> they're pretending like this is a non- issue. no one is denying the efficacy of the e-mails. no one is denying they're real. one person in the media asked joe biden if it's real. he attacked them and everyone in the media went and attacked the reporter. this is the hypocrisy of the swamp and leftist media and it speaks. todd: the media is doubling down on the speculation that the report is russian disinformation. jillian: new york governor andrew cuomo dismissing criticism after the state bans a massive wedding in brooklyn. >> you can't have a wedding now with thousands of people. there is no safe way to do that. a party with 100 people has generated issues. my suggestion, have a small wedding this year, next year have a big wedding. jillian: here's the thing. at least 1 10,000 people were expected to go to the wedding for a grand rabbi's grandchild. the state only allowing close family members to attend which begs the question as we discussed in the studio, who knows that many people. todd: how much is it per plate? that's scary. comedian rob schneider is mocking the governor of california over the state's hall holiday election. he said dear governor, if my aunt comes over can i throw her a slice of turkey from the window. we promise not to sing, we'll all just whisper. the restrictions newsom announced included limiting thanksgiving celebrations to three households and outside with masks. the rabbi's family couldn't attend this. i've had thanksgiving in parts of california that aren't la, it gets really cold. how could you go outside in the central valley? jillian: space heaters. i don't know. it is 15 minutes until the top of the hour. the president and joe biden crisscrossing the country with two weeks until election day. todd: gop strategist john thomas said president trump is taking his message directly to the people. he joins us live, next. todd: the countdown is on, can you believe it, just 15 days to go. president trump and joe biden hitting the road in the key battleground states of arizona, nevada and north carolina. so where do they stand with the voters there? president of john tom strategy, john thomas joins me. john, nice work, finding a place to work that already had your name in it. a lot easier for you. let's see what's at stake in the three states. the electoral vote you see north carolina, 15, arizona, 11, and nevada, 6. let's start with nevada, 2016 versus now. and you can see, clinton won in 2016. joe biden has the lead in 2020. at least in the polls. why does president trump and the trump campaign think have a shot in nevada that is leading them to campaign so hard there and allocate so many resources there with just a few days to go? >> well, yeah, what's interesting is this is why the electoral college is so beautiful, is that the map shifts from cycle to cycle and clearly president trump believes this is a state he can flip. remember, hillary won it by, what, less than a point or so. public polling shows that trump is within the margin of error, meaning that he could -- he's within 1 to 2 points of taking that seat. trump still has much higher marks than joe biden on issues of the economy, from voters across the country. directly to the people -- todd: i thought we lost you there. can you hear me? >> i can. yes. todd: continue on. >> trump is taking his greatest strength, which is rallies, where he takes his message directly to the people. that's what we're seeing right now. todd: let's go to arizona now. and we're going to flip the map here. you can see trump did win in arizona in 2016, but right now about 4 percentage points down in the polls. is arizona a must win for president trump? >> it is. as we're seeing the map shift, what we're seeing right now is arizona could be president trump's michigan. it's one of those states that it's a must win state just like trump flipped michigan in 2016, he's got to carry arizona and it's been one of those places that biden has not been giving a lot of love, when he's been elsewhere. trump's got to spend time in arizona. he sent pence there. he's going there. it's absolutely the right call as we go into the home stretch. todd: but why is biden leading? my gut tells me, is this a california liberal flight to the state that's right across the border there? >> there is some of that. by and large, todd, it's also a reflection of the insanely negative overwhelmingly negative mainstream media coverage that president trump endures on a daily basis and the only way that president trump can overcome that is by physically going to the states, dominating the news coverage with live events so voters can hear directly from him and not the mainstream media's portrayal of what president trump is trying to do. todd: north carolina is the next state. you can see the president won it i wouldn't share handily but 3.6 points in 2016. this year, joe biden has the lead. with that, do you actually see president trump losing north carolina?
