bracing for severe weather for easter weekend, big part of the country. >> we are trying to warn everyone if you are slipping across the southern plains, mississippi, tennessee river valley into the ohio valley, this weekend will be pretty active. we have many reports of hail and rain and some reports of tornadoes in the last 18 hours and that is going to be an active pattern in the next couple days. we saw snow in maine, this system is bringing potential for very gusty winds across the northeast as well, behind that we still could see some snow in the forecast. as we get into today, saturday, and sunday things ramp up. in texas we looking at a threat for severe storms, for the western part of the state into new mexico. into saturday and sunday particularly easter sunday you see at least a dozen states under the red area, the severe threat will expand across portions of this after the ohio and tennessee river valley and they put a moderate risk over some of these states. we expect the severe weather outbreak including tornadoes. you could the long trek, very severe, damaging winds and potential for deadly weather into sunday for many of these states. along with that, flooding rainfall, flash flooding will be a concern. we are putting on the alert days ahead of this because we expect the potential for life-threatening whether as we get into saturday and sunday. know what to do if there is a watch or warning in your area, how are you going to get that warning if the power is out? noaa weather radio is on. if you have friends that live in these areas give them a call because we are expecting a big deal weather event on saturday, especially easter sunday. most people are sheltering in place and at home but you have a warning in your area, go to the lowest built by samaritans nurse and has been treating patients for ten days. joining us with an update from the front lines, icu nurse for the assistance response team, she has her mask on and is ready. i know how busy you are. i want to start with some numbers that are really powerful. if you look at the hospitalizations by day, go back to april 2nd eight days ago, there were 1427 hospitalizations that day in two days ago, a lot of progress being made. are you seeing that? >> we are super busy here, we necessarily aren't slowing down. we are gearing up but those are so encouraging. jillian: what patient symptoms are you seeing as they are brought in? >> the more obvious is respiratory issues, difficulty breathing. what we learned in the icu is you will see a lot of cardiac issues and multi-system issues as well. rob: as a nurse you guys, this is -- you are the rock stars of this fight. what is it like doing this job? you are the busiest people in the world. >> it is exhausting mentally and emotionally. a lot of families can't be with patients, it is difficult on that. at the end of the day we are here to bring hope to the situation so part of our job is to bring hope to the icu so it is exhausting but an honor to help the people in new york city. jillian: i am sure you see a lot of tears shed day in and day out whether it is yourself or your coworkers or patients or family members. talk about how everyone is handling it mentally is what your patients are saying. >> most are patients are very sick, they are nonverbal at this time which is difficult to see all day. we work hard to support each other as a team. we rely on one another and work hard to support the families as well. healthcare workers are uniting in a way that i haven't seen before and i have been a nurse for nine years. the thing that gets me through the shift is my coworkers and also moments where you have patients would get better and those are the moments, the fuel that keeps us going. rob: talking about more as you see optimistic numbers in the flattening of the curve, new york plateauing, is the more our change, you and your fellow nurses? maybe you won't have to be in this tent for much longer? >> we are hopeful we are not here any longer than we have to be with the hope this virus will trend downward. we are here as long as we need to be here. with that it is encouraging. we are very busy, not necessarily slowing down yet. there is a lag because while there are not as many admissions coming in we still have a lot of patients being hospitalized. the trend for us we will see in a matter of days or weeks, we are not seeing the admission numbers go down but we see some hope at the end of the tunnel and that is our prayer that the city will continue to heal and trend the back. among the most vulnerable populations, prison inmates in the nation's top hotspots, cook county jail in chicago. rob: a second inmate died after testing positive for covid-19. kevin cork shows us how the pandemic is affecting those behind bars. >> crammed in like sardines. >> reporter: prisons across the country turning into coronavirus hotspots. in chicago cook county jail has emerged as the nation's largest cluster of infections, more confirmed cases than the uss theodore roosevelt or the live care center nursing home in washington state, they are sounding the alarm on the ballooning outbreak, messages on windows reading help, we matter and we are dying. a newly released inmate describes the situation in the facility is complete chaos. >> everybody, not just the detainees. >> reporter: another protest breaking out of prison in washington state. dozens of inmates in the yard wednesday night after a number of men tested positive for covid-19. one mom says she feared the virus could turn her son's conviction into a death sentence. >> it is sickening and i'm sick to my stomach and somebody needs to do something. rob: advocates a social distancing is nearly impossible in prisons where inmates share cells, showers and other close quarters. on top of that, supplies like soap, hand sanitizer are often in short supply. >> too tighten this virus can live on metal for three days. so many surfaces people cough on and i your victim. >> reporter: some states like new york and california have begun releasing nonviolent inmates in response the number of cases while other states continue to resist the idea of releasing incorporated populations. in washington, kevin cork, fox news. rob: police combating covid-19 from the skies, patrolling via drone to enforce social distancing. >> the daytona beach police department, we apologize for the inconvenience but because of covid-19 this park is closed. please adhere to social distancing guidelines. jillian: this is fascinating, joining us is the head of the drone program, daytona beach police sergeant, thank you for being here, we appreciate it. tell me how this idea started. >> we started the drone program in 2017 and use it for missing persons, fleeing suspects, accident reconstruction and when covid-19 showed up, how can we leverage this technology to help keep the officers and community safe. a problem everyone is having is trying to adhere to the cdc guidelines for social distancing. we had a conversation and decided if we have drones with speakers on the we could fly over these crowds, make a gentle announcement, nobody wants to be yelled at, and ask for their safety and hours. at the end of the day, looks like everybody else. you don't know if i have it, i don't know if you have it. this is a chance for me to spread is you and you spread it to me and to make the same announcement to keep the officer safe and keep everybody happy. >> some of the uses during this pandemic are interesting. patrol areas using speakers, number 2, number 3, disinfecting hospitals and public spaces. how can a drone disinfect a hospital? how does that work? >> the ability to add sprayers onto the arms of them and you can load it up with whatever disinfectant you want to use, fly over an area and is in fact the area. you could get a whole park within a matter of 5 or 10 minutes and a crew of 20 people taking 2 hours to wipe everything down. better to get in with a cloth but to cover a large area you can't be having a drone. jillian: what have people said to people who have been greeted by this drone in the park or one of these public places? >> we have a great city and daytona beach, the police department and the community, they look at the drone in surprise, it never happened before and they waved to it at we had 100% compliance, people look at it and realize they shouldn't be there, turn around and walk away. we had no problems, nobody has been angry about it, they have coronavirus vaccine in the us. jillian: why people are fighting to be part of this. >> reporter: researchers calling this the most important trial they have ever done. they opened a second child to find a vaccine in what they are calling deep shot instead of deep jabs and after john irvin, stressing how crucial it is saying people are beating down the doors to get into the trial. the company will face two of the vaccine in 40 healthy volunteers, it will be kansas city and the university of pennsylvania and as leaders of the country have been warning about this being a bad week when it comes to covid-19, there is light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to the antibody test, they say it could be weeks until those tests are made available and we will have a better grasp on it. >> we believe people we don't see and that is why the antibody test will be helpful to us. >> reporter: testing would make a better chance, but doesn't mean we can let the guard down and social distancing needs to be implemented, donald trump was asked if nationwide testing of covid-19 was needed to reopen the country, this was his response. >> the best testing system in the world, certain sections in the country, in phenomenal shape already. it is massive testing, it is not necessary but it is a good thing to have. >> reporter: us officials predicted the death toll from covid-19 was between 100-200,000, the new number looks to be more like 60,000. rob: emotional moment for a corpsman aboard the comfort when she explains why the mission to new york means so much to her. >> girl who is fighting for her life right now. what a moment for her. janice: yes. chloe is a make a wish child. she is 10 years old. she was supposed to go to disney. they had to cab sell the trip for obvious reasons so they brought disney to her home. look at all of these disney princesses and disney characters. but disney also promises when this is all over, chloe will get her make a wish trip to
