[ fast-paced drumming ] welcome back the stock market continues to smash records and president trump's cuts 2.0 plan. could allow more americans access to the markets. the plan reportedly considering adding incentives to invest in stock. joining me now with how this could help your wallet chief economist for the u.s. trade commission peter thank you for coming on again peter. let get people look at what this is -- potentially going to look like a ballpark estimate here making around 200,000 a year, it said that you could get something like 10,000 dollars untaxed if you invested into the stock market. tell us what this is going to do for people. >> essentially not just people making 200,000 but making 25 and 50. now that working class peopling working people have more money, the president wants to open up opportunities for them to invest in america. so a tax free option in addition to all of the rest of that stuff to basically put aside money for retirement what a grow tax free, great story. another thing is, the percentage a of people in america that own stock after the great recession went down. and it is now recovered. we want to get that all the way up. so you know, the democrats keep saying that the wealthy are getting all of the money we all know that mr. stie or is lying about that. however, since they have more money we want them investing so they've got to stake in capitalism so no kun can say they're victims and that will make them more immune to folks on left to tell them lices and stories about the economy but failing them. >> we're going to to look here 55% of americans own stock you talked about that and 45% of people in this country what do you say to people who don't make enough money to get into the stock market even if you give them a tax cut there's people who don't have extra income. >> when i was assistant professor live in a two bedroom apartment we still put some money in. you know, vanguard has programs to put $10 a month in so everybody has got $10. the idea is to show them how to give them tools and incentives to use, we need an education program and by the way, you still putting ten bucks a month in it adds up. >> do you think there's talk that if the president gets reelected he might cut social security. and maybe this is part of his idea to get people to take care of their future rather than have a tax and have the the system take care of them as they get older is that true? >> the president of the united states is not going to cut social security. i guarantee that. you call me to test of two years from now reelected and he does that. what he's going to do is get rid of abuses that barack obama built in the disability system. we're basically perfectly healthy people got disabilities, and didn't have to go to work. one of the great indoor sports one out of 20 americans between ages of 16 and 66 you know, were on disability that's absurd. >> yeah, no, i agree we that. i understand. clean that he is many up. been abused for a long time i think people know that and president addressed that. 72 large on our social security pension that best insurance he's the got as donald trump. because the capacity of the american people to pay for social security is a function of a growing economy. yeah if question get bernie sanders it is at risk because he could destroy that groats. then you have a friend. >> let's talk real quick about about tax cut 2.0 and tax cut coming by 10%. and the democrats as we're going to listen to right here have long said that middle class is getting stretched out by trump administration. >> first of all we got a big benefit for the middle and working classes in the tax cut unlike what democrats say let's be clear. this would add to that benefit and would help offset effects of the virus and china, that is having on u.s. economies. and the boeing 737 shut down with a big effect on economy. what about the debt, though, peter. going to keep cutting tacks what are we going to cut? entitlement at some point will have to be cut and not going to cut the security but try to cut -- somewhere. but basically the only thing barack obama did not do was put on a shirt and stand on a quarter to give people coupon to get food stamps. the tramps food stamp needs to be cleaned up and actually enhance the programs for the people that really need them. >> all right. and still save money. we're going to leave it there peter thank you so much for your time we appreciate it as always. take care back to you. >> five minutes until top the of the hour michael adding another big tringt of a bloomberg clinton ticket. and love is blind, and drunk how the store behind this mug shot was promiseed. you don't want to miss. stick around fox and friends first. stick around. guys, it's that time... and nothin's happenin'. well now there's score!, from force factor, to rev your libido and maximize physical response. it's no wonder walmart offers score! in more locations than any other performance enhancer. unleash your potential in the bedroom, with score!. >> it is monday february 17th and we begin with a fox news alert. hundred of americans arriving back on u.s. soil this morning evacuated from a quarantined cruise ship and more than a dozen of them just have positive for the deadly corona virus. one american couple refusing to leave. we're going to hear from them. >> plus hillary clinton back on democratic presidential ticket . latest move for michael bloomberg hinting that failed nominee from 2016 might just be his vice president. >> gentlemen, start your engines. president trump dives into history books as the daytona 5 hushing grand marshal, however, just getting started live at the track ahead of today's next checkered flag. fox and friends continues right now.
