Leaders in the house and senate reach an agreement on a bill. If Congress Sends me a bill before christmas, the irs, this is just out, this is breaking news. Has just confirmed that americans will see lower taxes and bigger paychecks beginning in february. All right. So whats in this . Lets take a look. First, it slashes the corporate rate from 35 to 21 instead of the 20 as originally planned. It cuts the top individual rate of 39. 6 to 37 . It caps state and local Tax Deductions to 10,000. Giving them flexibility across property and income taxes. Satisfies the high tax states like new new york, new jersey, and california. Finally it repeal its the obamacare individual mandate. But dont expect democrats to support it as senator ron wyden calls it a betrayal. This is the ultimate betrayal of the middle class. It doesnt give middle class americans the tax cuts they deserve now and it takes away medicare and Social Security later. Its never a done deal until its done. Of this is washington after all it appears the house and senate will start voting on it early next week and could reach the president s desk by christmas. Brian all right, griff. Pathways, they are happy to sell their services to anyone, right . So we really need to stop their ability to cross. Brian when january happens and there is a change in the administration, immediately there is a drop. But when congress doesnt give you the money and the people that they promised and the wall is delayed, the numbers start going up. Its as if theyre listening the would be illegal crossers are almost listening to washington to see how theyre planning. Well, you know, we are at such a disadvantage. They have money, they have time. And this is their job. So they do watch. They watch whats happening in congress. They watch whats happening as part of our national conversation. And they learn as we go along. So we see more and more loopholes being exploited. Brian what has the president told you in terms of what to do. He said in the past. I want this wall. Its going to be big. In reality, there are some places you cant build it. Yeah, the wall really needs to be and i always have to be clear. Its really three components, right . Its the physical barrier. Its the technology. And then its personnel. Have to all of that together is what we mean by the wall. Brian lets see part of the wall that is built. Lets do it. Brian this is a bollard fence they say. Yes. Brian i didnt see anything like this on the new proto types. Would Something Like this stay and you build look to lengthen it or replace for whatever you choose . We actually have about 55 miles around this area. Its noncontiguous. Of the 28 miles that we are prioritizing will actually fill nut gaps if you will. Brian this is working . Yes. With the places that has no barrier thats got to be addressed . Right. Brian i notice its not all straight. Chain link huge 30 feet. I see over there maybe 6 feet. What goes into that . A lot of it is based on the terrain, as the terrain flows up and down, the wall goes with it sometimes its higher. Sometimes its thicker. Sometimes there is other natural barriers that can combine with it. Brian madam secretary its hard not to see. So paraphernalia here including a ladder. People say you show me a wall i will show you a ladder. You build a wall i will build a bigger ladder. Thats difficult to hear. There is no silver bullet. Why got to have a wall. Then you need the technology and people and sensors and monitoring to make sure that wall is as effective as it can be. Brian will this rio grand area look the same in a year or see major improvements and fortifications. We will see major improvements. We will see new wall hopefully. We will request congress funding. The Inspector General is a freestanding entity in the justice department. The fbi doesnt control him. He can investigate them. The attorney general doesnt control them he can investigate the attorney general. When he is conducting an investigation and have you evidence that you know he wants, you are not allowed to reveal it to the public. He gets to review and it interpret it first. Yesterday we have been waiting to hear from some of the people from the department of justice to explain what is going on because to so many republicans it looks like there is bias at the department of justice and the fbi in the Mueller Investigation. So many people at the department of justice on the team who look biased. Brian this guy who is appointed by President Trump, asked by republicans in theory you should be somewhat friendlier to the party of the president who appoints you. But, Rod Rosenstein seems to be bucking that trend along with a few others along with chris wray a few days prior. Has the text biased the investigation and did fusion gps, was it used to use a fisa warrant to unmask a whole bunch of people that find themselves in some legal trouble right now and was it used to actually spur an investigation into President Trump . So individuals who dont have insurance maybe cant afford it are forced to pay a fine or actually buy insurance a lot of times deductibles are too high and premiums too great. So they may also you maintain your medical expense deduction. So that is popular. So a lot of things came back in and the you were rate came down a couple of points. Ainsley you can deduct your state and local taxes up to 10,000. If you dont want to buy into obamacare, you dont have to. If you have a high medical bills, you will be able to deduct out of pocket. Its easy for folks in washington to talk about the benefits of the wall, not a wall. But they are not working here. They are not facing the threats that the folks here are facing every day. Brian looking out here, what do you see . They say it was down as low as 120 a few months ago. Now we have 400 people crossing just in this region alone. Do you see an urgency to stop that. Absolutely. Because its both. We tend to have the discussion about the wall with respect to ilLegal Immigration problem. You cant forget its criminals, its traffickers, its smugglers, potentially terrorists all the same Pathways National criminal organizations are happy to sell their services to anyone. Right . Brian right. We really need to stop their ability to cross. Brian when january happens and there is a change in the administration, immediately there is a drop. But when congress doesnt give you the money and the people that they promised and the wall is delayed, the numbers start going up. Its as if they are listening, the would be illegal crossers are almost listening to washington to see how theyre planning. You know, were at such a disadvantage. They have money. They have time. And this is their job. So they do watch. They watch whats happening in congress. They watch whats happening as part of our national conversation. And they learn as we go along. So we see more and more loopholes being exploited. Brian what has the president told you in terms of what to do because he said in the past i want this wall. Its going to be big. But, in relation reality, theree some places you cant build. The wall has to be. And we have to be clear. Its really three components, its the physical barrier, its technology and personnel to. Do you think Second Special counsel needs to be appointed because the public trust is gone . I think the gut reaction is yeah, lets have another special counsel. How is the first one working out . Brian terrible. I dont think you do a second one. Put this on the Inspector General. 450 employees under michael horowitz. They have been looking at this for a year and a half. Part of the reason we know about all this bias and all these things coming out is because of the Inspector General. By the way, its not just bias but were moving quickly towards collusion within the department of justice. Steve right. That needs a deep seeded look. The Inspector General is in a better position to do that than another special counsel. Brian there is no reason for congress to get kicked to the curb while the Inspector General is doing his job. Cant you do both. No. Behind the scenes, im telling you, because i have been in that seat, the Inspector General is communicating with members of congress. Not giving them specific details but giving up as to where they are. I think in january or february he is going to come out with a year and a half long report it will be the definitive word on whats happening. Steve the wall street journal on the oped page today they write that the evidence is building that some officials at the fbi may have interfered in an american president ial election. That is jawdropping. It is. And think of the irony here, the collusion that were actually looking at now has to do with what the fbi and some rogue agents are doing. The overwhelming majority of people do a good job there they are patriotic, they are hardworking. There are 100,000 people. There are 10,000 attorneys. Somehow the people directly around mr. Mueller have not only a conflict of interest, i mean, you have a fact witness whose husband works at the fbi. The first theory is we hope if there is a reduction in the corporate rate, even 21 , although it was proposed at 20, that the extra money is going to create jobs and growth in our country. There is a Second School of thought. This is one that people have concern. Are these Big Companies going to basically just pass this on to dividends and to the shareholders . And what we hope for and what the president hopes for is obviously the trickle down effect that would create jobs, great attitude in the country and growth. Thats what hopefully we hope extra money will happen. Ainsley is mortgage Interest Deduction should fall around 700,000 for new mortgages. Is that a good or bad thing . Used to be a million or is currently a million . Yeah. I think there was a debate it was, it was between 500 and 1 million. I think they are going to settle on 700,000. You mentioned a important word there these are new mortgages. This will not be retroactive to other mortgages. I read Something Interesting yesterday. Apparently even at 500,000, only about 5 of the country is affected by that so, that will be negative for them. First, the slashes of corporate rate from 35 to 21 . It cuts the top individual rate of 39. 6 to 37 . It caps the state and local Tax Deduction at 10,000, giving them flexibility across property and income taxes, satisfying tax states like new york, new jersey. And finally repeals the individual mandate. Senator widen calls it a betrayal. This is the ultimate betrayal of the middle class. It doesnt give middle class americans the tax cuts they deserve now, and it takes away medicare and Social Security later. So its never a done deal until we see it. But by all accounts, heres what happens next. And it looks like monday maybe tuesday the house and senate will vote on it. Then it will go to the president s desk for signature by christmas. Well, now according to this plan, everyone does get lower taxes. Steve indeed. But then people in the high and local tax states or people with a big mortgage, theyre worried about that. Theyre working around. Theyve got deductions and different limitations on that. But its still all in there. Ainsley the big thing is Corporate Tax being reduced from 35 to 21. And then low and behold, those that are supposed to make sure that there are no conflicts of interest seem to have a few of their own. And im here to tell you, mr. Rosenstein i think the public trust in this whole thing is gone. Not a single solitary american he can imagine would vote for donald trump. This is the conflict of interest free special agent assigned. Did mr. Mueller take appropriate action in this case. Yes, he did. Have you seen cause to fire mueller . No. Brian i love this. When rick was talking. He said did the fbi pay for the dossier . Im not able to answer that question. He says do you know the answer to that question . And he said i believe i know the answer. Were not going to tell you and now the Inspector General of the investigation, we cant answer. Thats not true. That doesnt mean you sideline the Judiciary Committee because the ig report is taking place. You can do both. Ainsley i want to know the answer to that question when the investigation is done. Steve it sounds like the attorney general is going to be coming out with his report in the next couple of months and when we were talking to Jason Chaffetz, he completely trusts the attorney general. Might not trust the people at the department of justice, but he does trust the deputy general. Sebastion gorka, security analyst and whatnot says it goes to the highest levels of these organizations. Watch this. Talk about are he placing individuals. Its about dissolving this team. We now know this team is manned by members of hillarys socalled resistance movement. Theres a reason that lady justice is blind bolted. In this case, she has taken hoff her blindfold and partisan. And one crucial point. Where is peter struck today . He is now in the Hr Department of the bureau. Think about what you can do at the hr bureau. Is he massaging documents . This isnt political bias. But as we heard from jim jordan earlier, the public has a lot of trust questions now in the fbi. So if these people are not held accountable or we dont get the back story, a lot of people are going to be going, like, that looks like a white wash. Ainsley do we even know . The public trust is gone now. I hate to say that because i know there are a lot of amazing people that work for the fbi and work for the government. But when you have stories like this every single day, the public trust is gone. Steve i trust the fbi. So if you get your news here, you probably like it because you focused on whats good for you. But if not, you dont. Steve well, mick, the other channels, what are they saying is bad about it . Its the same ol talking points. I think Chuck Schumer 15 different times today say this is a give away to the rich. The same story democrats have been pitching for a long time. Look, this is exactly what we asked for it to be from the beginning. Number one, ordinary families. Hardworking families would pay less, and it would be simpler for them. Thats in this bill. Number two, the Corporate Tax rate, which would drive so much investment for americans. By american corporations and overseas corporations is down. That Corporate Tax rate is down. This is what the white house wanted. This is what we to need maintain that healthy economy. Were very excited about it, and its good news for everybody. Brian so within the next two weeks next week, you have to fund the government. Word is, it was a screaming match yesterday on both sides. Theyre far apart. Youll have the euphoria of a tax reform. First one in three decades. But you could have to shut down the government going into christmas. What is your role in making sure that doesnt happen . Now we want very badly to shut down the government. Its the democrats voting on the hill that they wont vote to fund the government. So were trying to keep the yearend spending bill. Focus on yearend spending and not let it get outside of things like daca. But if the democrats arent intending to work on us, but i have no expectation at all that the government will shut down. We will run the government. Brian but you need 60 votes. Yeah. And we hope theres enough reasonable democrats that realize now is not the time to have discussions about funding or things like daca. Theres plenty of time to fix that. I dont think daca untiles march. We hope we will get a chance to being with the democrats and the senate. We do need 60 votes in the senate. Keep in mind, thats one thing. If we run the white house and senate, why cant we run it itself . Because we need the 60vote threshold. So hopefully that will help us fund the government. Of course it does because this is key to the security of our homeland. I also find it very confusing because as you know in 2006, we had a bill, the secure fence act that was largely bipartisan that would have done just this. So it is applications. Easy for folks to n washington to talk about the benefits of the wall, not a wall. But theyre not working here. Theyre not facing the threats that folks here are facing every day. Brian working here, they say it was down as low as 120 a few months ago. Now we have 400 people crossing just in this region alone. Do you see an urgency to stop that . Absolutely because we have a problem with respect to Legal Immigration problem. Its criminals, traffic he realize, smugglers, special interest aliens, potentially terrorists. Its all the same pathways that turns National Organizations are happy to sell their services to anyone; right . So we really need to stop their ability to cross. Brian when january happens and the change of the administration, immediately theres a drop. But when congress doesnt give you the money and the people that they promised and the wall is delayed, the numbers start going up. Its as if theyre listening the would be legal crossers are almost listening to washington to see how theyre planning. Well, were at such a disadvantage. They have money, they have time, and this is their job. So they do watch. They watch whats happening in congress. They watch whats happening as part of our national conversation, and they learn as with go along. So we see more and more loopholes being exploited. Brian what has the president told you what he wants to do. But in reality, there are some places you cant build it. Yeah. The wall really needs to be, and i think we always have to be clear. Its really three components; right . Its the physical barrier, its technology, and its personnel. So, to me, all of that together is sort of what we mean by the wall. Brian so lets go see part of the wall that is built. All right. Lets do it. Brian so this is a bollard fence. Yeah. Brian now, i didnt necessarily see anything like this on the prototypes. Would Something Like this stay . And you build to lengthen it or prere place whatever you choose . We actually have 55 miles around this area. Its noncontiguous. So it will fill in the gaps, if you will. Brian so this is working with the places that has no barriers. Thats what has to be addressed. Right. Brian and i notice its not all straight. You have chain link 30 feet and then over there maybe six feet. What goes into that . A lot of it is the terrain as it flows up and down, the wall goes with it. So sometimes its higher, sometimes its thicker, sometimes theres other natural barriers that can combine with it. Brian and its hard not to see some of the paraphernalia here, including a ladder. Bigger wall, bigger ladder. Its a system. Thats difficult to hear. Theres a silver bullet. We have to have a wall. Were going to have a wall. But then you need the technology. You need the people. You need the sensors. You need the cameras. You need the monitors to make sure that that wall is as effective as it can be. Brian will this rio grande area look the same in a year . And all of these texts and email messages from peter struck, this one is the one that concerns me the most. He says in particular i direct you to texts from struck to page on august 15, 2017. Rosenstein yesterday a number of times every time you would ask a different question about, well, what about bruce orr or what about this person . He kept going back to the fact that he couldnt laboratory because the Inspector General was doing an investigation. The big question to you, chairman, is do you trust the Inspector General to get to the bottom of whether or not these agents have a bias that impacted their work . Well, its very important that the Inspector General do get to the bottom of this. Ive worked with them closely for years. Worked with them on this investigation. He has cooperated with the investigation that tray gowdy of the overside committee and i have launched because we called upon the department of justice because we employed a second counsel to look into all of this and amounts by an investigation who has prosecutorial abilities is very important. And the independent the Inspector General can do an internal Investigation Report but doesnt have prosecutorial authority. Neither does the congress, by the way.
