>> i will first tell you that my reaction was a combination of what governor pence and melania trump and donald trump has said about his comments. i too found them to be unacceptable and offensive. nobody is here to defend them, including donald trump. he apologized on friday in a video post that everybody can see. those are his words and he repeated that last night. said that he hated it. he was embarrassed. he apologized for it and then he also said the difference between words and actions, and talked about that very important distinction. the other thing i think is incredibly important, ainsley, in this conversation is when anderson cooper pressed mr. trump on sexual assault, donald trump shot back and said this is not what this is. these are words. this term "sexual assault" has been bandied about, and i'll tell you as somebody that's worked with victims of sexual assault, it demeans that when somebody exploits this for political purposes. what was the strategy from having the four accusers of bill clinton who say they are the victims of bill clinton's sexual assaults? having them do that little press event and then go into the town hall last night. what was the strategy behind doing that? >> well, these women want to be heard, steve. and they will come on your show any time you will have them, i'm sure, each of them. i thought they were profiles in courage for showing up last night at the debate. they want to be sheer. kathy shelton was 12 years old when she was raped. that was not in doubt. she was raped by a man over 40 years old who none other than hillary clinton defended, and she got him a plea barringen and a year later she was caught on tape laughing about the process. i want to tell the viewers that this rape happened in arkansas two years before the rape shield laws went into effect. that was a horrible time when people could sort of shame the victims. this girl was 12 years old and hillary clinton did exactly that. and the issues about hillary clinton, her campaign knows she was rattled and way off message last night for whatever reason. i would be too if i had to defend that unremarkable senate record and really irresponsible, unsuccessful record of hillary clinton as secretary of state. "the new york times" laid it out last week in vivid detail, she would try to ruin them and it was always their fault. >> do you think hillary was a little rattled because those women were there? >> she was rattled and off message for some reason. she had a much stronger performance in her first debate. i don't think the town hall format is really for her well, because you have to go and talk to people. she doesn't do that very often, unless you are a donor behind some gated manage at a fund-raiser. you don't get to see her up close and personal. and if you are at chipirani, where you are calling people deplorable. i'm sure she was uncomfortable. she also never answered donald trump's questions about those four women. she just blew them off completely. >> she said they are inaccurate and kept moving on. something struck me about what you said to megyn last night. let's play the clip and i want to get you to elaborate if you would. >> let me tell you something, there are members of congress and former who have rubbed up against women and who put their tongues in their mouths uninvited. maybe when i was younger and prettier, that may have happened to me. people on their high horses are accusing him of being this awful person and really the words i think were most harmful is when everybody is running around saying he's condoning sexual assault. no, he's not. >> he said i grab them by the genitals. >> those are guys talking. i think it's horrible talk. >> not every guy talk like that. you know that. >> they were two guys talking. we know who they were. he didn't mean it. he's sorry for it. he's a changed man. >> you were talking about congress and he was referring to how many people have jumped off the trump train after those comments came out on friday. who are you referring to when you said they are hypocrits? are you talking about republicans, democrats? >> oh, that's a bipartisan problem in washington, d.c., and i won't go any further into it, but they know who they are, and i just wanted to make the point very simply that people do get on their high horses. they do cast that first stone and they ought to really reflect. they ought to look inside and think about what their conduct and words have been over the years, and it sounds like megyn either agreed or at least sympathize with the point being made. >> kellyanne did you ever consider dropping out after those comments were made? >> i did not and there was horrible reporting from a different network that was called to task for reporting it that i was dropping out, and mike pence, and donald trump was jumping off trump tower. i think if they want skin at this late -- they don't need to make stuff up. i will tell you that privately i had a conversation with mr. trump about his comments, and i -- again, i will repeat, i'm a combination of mike pence and melania and donald trump on the way i feel about these comments and also the way i feel about the contrition and the apology that donald trump has expressed privately and publicly. >> he did say to ben carson there could be more tapes to come. >> i would know nothing about that. >> thank, so much. >> our next guest you know pretty well. do you want to see mike pence? >> drum roll please for the next vice president of the united states, mike pence. >> we wanted you to say hello because i don't want you to face time on yourism phones later. >> good morning, kelly anne. >> governor, if i could start with the headlines and the daily mail and your newspaper in indianapolis. it says mike pence will await the outcome of the debate before deciding whether to jump or not. is that true? >> that was absolutely false. it's like kellyanne just said. these rumors just furl around presidential campaigns. this is the first time i've ever been at this level. it's remarkable. the real story this morning is donald trump stepped up and won the debate last night that seemed to be against all odds. he stepped up. he showed humility, he showed strength, expressed genuine contrition for the words that he had used on the video that became public and then he moved directly into the choice of the american people are facing and it is such a dramatic choice and i thought before the end of that 90 minutes, the american people could see the opportunity that we really have to change the direction of this country and donald trump, you'll have a stronger america at home and abroad, a more prosperous america. real change to washington, d.c. you'll have a president that will uphold our constitution and appointments to the supreme court and hillary clinton you just heard more of the same. more of the same failed policies that have weakened america's place in the world. stifled our economy and continued to drive liberal policies in our judiciary, and i'm just proud of the job he did. proud of my running mate and looking forward to being on the campaign trail today heading to nrk. >> i was reading your tweets. you said you were praying. you and your wife were praying for donald trump and you were glad that he came out and apologized. so what was your advice to him from a christian perspective? because i know you are an evangelical. >> well, thanks. i mean, obviously, i'll always keep my advice privately, but i encouraged him, as i said in my statement on saturday, i encouraged him to express what i believe is his sincere personal remorse and he did that friday night, but i wanted to give him time to show his heart on sunday night, and i thought he did that, expressing the fact that he was embarrassed, not proud of it. you know, that kind of vulnerability, and transparency, i think is very moving to millions of americans, and i know for a fact that donald trump, you know, is, you know, deeply sorry. he's expressed his apology, but what i think people saw last night was someone who said, look, i'm not a perfect person. i've made mistakes. i'm not proud of these things. i've expressed an apology, but, you know, this election is not about any one individual. it's really about the future of the country and i couldn't have been more proud of the way that he focused last night on the choice the american people face and really and truly, i'm proud of the job at that he did and proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him. >> steve. >> governor, i was reading on line that donald trump threw you under the bus because you and donald trump have different takes on what should be done regarding isis and syria because last week at your debate you said you were talking about safe zones and donald trump had a different point of view last night. so i'm sure you talked to him about that or you thought about it. what's going on between the two of you on that topic? >> well, i think martha just mischaracterized the statement that i made in my debate a week ago. i was asked a question about aleppo. donald trump and i both know when hillary clinton said her number one diplomatic priority was a reset with russia, which obviously is a complete disaster. after the reset by hillary clinton, the russians invaded ukraine and they have created this renewed alliance with assad and they brought bar bearic violence there. the question had to do with the humanitarian crisis in aleppo, i said that we need to establish safe zoens and secure those safe zones and if necessary to use military force to allow the hundreds of thousands of people trapped in aleppo, including 100,000 children to be able to escape. last night, martha conflated those about a larger question about russian provocation and aggression. i didn't begrudge him at all saying we didn't discuss it. make no mistake, in donald trump and i you'll have a different kind of leadership relative to syria. his folk as he made clear is on hunting down and destroying isis within syria but establishing and securing safe zones has been a policy of the team and the administration going forward. >> he's wrong, russia is not targeting isis directly and neither is assad. that's not their priority. but moving on, governor, i understand house leaders will be on a conference call at 11:00 a.m. today and number one, will you be on that conference call, what is your mench to so many g gop-ers who jumped off the trump train? >> no. i'm going to be campaigning in north carolina today and iowa later this week. looking forward to be back on the campaign trail. this is a choice between two candidates and a choice between two futures. >> but they know that. >> they still -- -- >> they listened friday and they said i'm out of here. i can't support him. >> i know people said that. you know, what i had encouraged donald trump to do, because, look, i had said before i was offended by what i saw on that video, said that i didn't condone it, couldn't defend him. urged him to show his heart to the american people on sunday night. i think he's done that. my hope is that people across the country, including elected officials believe in redemption as much as i do and second chances as i do. someone in an 11-year-old video made comments that he regrets and apologized for. in hillary clinton and donald trump have two people who will take this country in dramatically different directions. my mope is people will see that. we have four short weeks to take the taste to the american people. one of things that donald trump said to me, he said it is not about him, not us, it's about the country, the future. seven out of ten americans know this country is headed in the wrong direction. donald trump and i want to take it to a direction of stronger military, lower taxes, repeal obamacare. end the war on cole. what we need to have is to have people to stand with us. >> are you going pick up the phone and call these leaders like paul ryan? >> i'm happy to talk to any of my friends in leadership. this election is in the hands of the american people, and, you know, at the end of the day, in the next four weeks, the american people are going to be making a choice that will culminate when the polls all close on november 8th and i truly do believe that as you look at the policies of this administration, hillary clinton essentially wants to continue the policies that have weakened america's place in the world, stifled our economy, walked away from our most cherished institutions like the second amendment. donald trump and i want to go back in the direction of a higher -- stronger america at home and abroad and uphold the highest standards of integrity in the highest office in the land. for those reasons, i like our chances come on november 8th. still ahead, hillary clinton tries to use abraham lincoln to explain her latest wickly -- wikileaks bombshell. debate reaction from two men who know presidential politics more than most. he goes by the name karl rove, the other by joe trippi. together, they are driving in golf carts, which is rented. please be careful. you're not a cook, if you don't cook. you're not a firefighter, if you don't fight fires. or a coach, if you don't coach. and you can't be our leader, if you don't lead. our next president needs to take action on social security, or future generations could lose up to $10,000 a year. we're working hard, what about you?
