Higher taxes. Were breaking it down ahead. Fox and friends begins right now. I forgot to do my vocal warm up this morning. See sells seashells by the seashore. Anyone can mess it up. Can you get yourself back together . Yes, we can. Four hours of fun this morning weve got a lot of news. The ice is back as well. The ice skating rink. We have more of that outside. And a curling demonstration and a tribute to our friends to the north the canadians. There we go. All right. We need to get to the fox news alert. Over overgathering outdoors for the megamass. The pontiff dedicating the mass to the deadly typhoon that killed millions of people. He made the plea to save the millions of poor hung bring, and Homeless Children. We need to care for our young people not allowing them to be living on the streets. The pontiff left the mass in the famed popemobile and stopping to kiss babies and greet worshippers personally. He met with Homeless Children overnight at the biggest Catholic University in asia. Pope francis heads back to rome tomorrow ending his fiveday trip to asias largest catholic nation. There were 6 Million People but the rain didnt keep 3 Million People away. Is there anyone on the planet that can bring 3 Million People outside in the rainstorm . And he did. And going through the crowd. He was kissing the babies. Everyone is handing up their baby to be kissed by the hopepope. Its his signature of his tenure so far. His connection to people. Probably one of the most shared pictures on the internet. The pope kissing a badly deformed man. He was asked by a girl why does god allow bad things to happen to children because 33 of folks who live in the philippines live in poverty. Live in slum. He basically said, you know shes the only person in the crowd who has asked a question i have no answer to. It was almost impossible for her to almost ask the question the way she asked was through the tears. He said theres not an answer for this. But it does teach us how to love one another and how to have come passion for one another. Which is an answer to the question that tormented christians for 2,000 years. Why do bad things happen to good people. And to hear the pope concede theres no answer. We dont know in this life is pretty reassuring. Absolutely. We have other stories making headlines. Another fox news alert. Officials confirming four terror suspects arrested in greece are not linked to a jihadi cells. Belgian authorities saying the cell on the search of launching attacks on miss. Police. As belgium deploys troops to protect the u. S. Embassy. And another fox news alert. Florida police have arrested the kentucky teens dubbed the modern day bonny and collide. This is brand new video into fox and friends. Taken minutes after Panama City Beach police found 13yearold Cheyenne Philips and her 18yearold boyfriend sleeping in the stolen truck behind an ihop. Officials are working to send the teens back home after a two week crime spree across the south. Hundreds of demonstrators in washington, d. C. , taking part in a Blue Lives Matter march to the United States capitol. Police are not thanked enough for the danger they face each day. Organizers began planning the march after two new York City Police officers were murdered in their patrol car. Organized in response to months of antipolice demonstrations. The perfect proposal. Ruined by a thief. A georgia man was planning to ask his girlfriend to marry him after a night at the movies and a helicopter ride. The couple was inside the theater someone broke into the mans car and stole a bag with the ring. I was mad. I cried. And then i just had to pretty much tell her. Its not about anything that was missing or the ring itself. But, yeah you cant go back and redo all that, you know he set up the entire day. The couple said theyre not interested in pressing charges. They just want the ring back. And those are your headlines. Rings are not important. Its just the love. Right. Women dont feel about the diamond. On tuesday the president will give his constitutionally mandated state of the Union Address. We have a preview this morning. It is all over the news what the president plans to announce. His plan to fight income inequality and middle class wage stagnation. Yeah. Hes going to eliminate theres a bunch of break downs and i dont think its palatable for republicans. Well see if it headaches it through. He wants to eliminate the tax break on inheritances. Republicans want to get rid of it. You inherit a large estate that is already paid taxes on through the year by the family that created the estate. When the estate transfer youre taxed on that. Yeah. As estate tax transfer. He wants to increase top Capital Gains on couples above 500,000. Its been raised under obama from 15 to 23. 8 . He wants to soak the banks with more fees and the money will go to what . What the president says are tax breaks for the middle class. A 500 second earner tax break which will encourage both spouses to work. Child care tax credit being hiked, and expanding a earned income tax credit which is basically free money to lower income workers. Right. Up to 3,000 per child under the age of 5 now. Theres a cap on the income up to 210,000 in the family household. The 500 for two working parents would only go to the 200,000 threshold. Look, the president is making the case hes made many times before. Were going to soak the rich. They have the money. You have none. Youre not going to feel it at all. Only people youve never met before will be paying the taxes. When you spread the wealth around its good to everybody. Remember when he said in 2010 . Its a narrative weve seen before. President obamas weekly address he said he wants the gop to push all games aside and to basically come to the table and do what he wants with this. Our job is to make sure every american feels theyre a part of our countrys comeback. Thats what ill focus on in my state of the union. How to build on our momentum with rising wages, growing incomes, and a stronger middle class. Ill call on the new congress to join me in putting aside the political games and finding areas where we agree so we can deliver for the American People. So how is the president going to sell this t people in front of the republican audience . He likes to invoke republican president s at the events. He talked about how much he likes Ronald Reagan. He plans to invoke Ronald Reagan during the state of the Union Address saying the top tier Capital Gains rate of 28 , hey, Ronald Reagan raised it to 28 . Why shouldnt we do it now . Republican spokesman said its ridiculous. Its meaning is the open silt of the literal meaning. Stop playing games. This is a game. He knows it wont go through. The irony underneath it. Income inequality has grown faster than obama than any president in american history. His solution . More taxes money goes to washington and well figure out how to doll it out. Really . Has that ever worked . Its a great way for the president to rally his base and to pit them against the evil republicans. As you mentioned, paul ryan said this is not a serious proposal. We lift families up and grow the economy with a simpler, flatter tax code not increases to pay for more washington spending. If you think that middle class wage stagnation is a and it is. You dont have to be a democrat to believe it. Think about why it is. If were importing millions of lowskilled workers we have more workers than jobs. Thats Pretty Simple math. Whose fault is that . The president. The rich will pay for it. Dont worry. Let us know on facebook. Its our question of the day. All right. Lets talk about toys this morning. If you walked around my living room recently you would see a bow and arrow set with sticksing things on the wall. You must have a terrible child. We have all sorts of things that probably should be outlawed at the festival. Theres a festival Arts Festival that is wanting to ban all of these things that are on sale. You can go and get these foam swords rubber bands, gun,er in of weapons that the kids get to play with. Its in pennsylvania selling those things are the most terrible things ever. This arts fest executive director says this. We live in a especially violent times. Banning the sale of weapons might not be a giant step in making our society less violent but its a step we can take. Arent little boys isnt this just something that lit boys want to do . If they dont have a gun they eat a little string cheese slice into a shape of a gun or a pop tart . If you want to keep boys from acting out and committing acts of violence, make sure the father is in the home. That is just look i have a shrink that degrees with that. More than half of americans grow up without their dads. Banninger in of swords is this real . This is like the kind of thing only the faculty of some college could think is a good idea. And they turn back in the 80s these guns looked like real guns. Thor in of stuff looked like real guns and the 90s they started making them orange . Yes. Neon colors. They want to get rid of those. They couldnt look the little dart guns. Would they have a problem with dads rough housing with their little boys. Is that teaching them . Theyre just boys that need to get out of the energy. Science is in. If you want your kids to have the best present ever, get the crossman pump master 760. The single greatest pellet gun ever made. I grew up with one. Youll shoot your eye out. I gave them to four of my kids and theyve had happy nonviolent childhoods. Got it. Are you kidding . Take a squirrel out three football fields out. Go to our Facebook Page this morning and weigh in. Got a fox news alert. Pope francis ended his trip to asia with a mass in the philippines in front of a remarkable and recordbreaking number of people. Were getting word that an estimated 6 Million People came to hear the pontiff speak. So what was his message . Joining us now our friend father Jonathan Morris. Good morning. This is 6 Million People. 6Million People is the largest gathering of humanity around a Single Person of all time. Ever . Ever. In Human History . In Human History. 6mlt people gathered around. In other words coming to see one person for one event. You know, people say what a rock star but rock stars dont get that amount of people. And the reason why theyre coming is not because of the popularity of one person but rather because they see in pope francis hope. They see joy. They see solutions to very serious personal problems. Six Million People coming for something. Certainly to worship god together with pope francis, but also because they see this guy. He walks the walk and maybe hell have something to say to me that will affect my life. Were looking at this popemobile before it used to be closed off. There was the Protection Level there. He asks to have it open. Its open air popemobile to be among the people. To kiss babies, to talk to people, to shake hands. Think this man was elected when he was hoping to retire. And he said, yes, ill put my life in danger but im 78 and im going to do it. He said im going to try to get as close as i can to the people. One remarkable thing about the trip is the people who came to see him were not the big donors. Nothing wrong with big donors. We need them. Every Charitable Institution does. The people suffering most he visited an ororphanage. He had two 12 yearolds tell their story of being kidnapped and abused and sold and then they were eventually freed. Those are the type of people hes spending time with. And pushed aside his prepared remarks to address these concerns of the people. How is that different from what weve seen in the past . You know, other popes have gone off script as well but hes doing it in a decidedly way. What is he doing . Hes reading what he prepared together with his people and what he feels like he needs to he sets it aside and has a translator next to him. Hes been saying to the philippines, for example, one of the Fastest Growing economies in asia is be careful. As your economy grow it is doesnt necessarily mean its going to be the solution to all of your problems. Be careful of materialism. Be careful of falling to the lure, the temptations that things can make you happy. So he when the pope goes on the road, he thaiailors his message to the audience. Thats how he see it is naturally. Ill be with me people. And has a universal message, for sure. All right. Father jonathan, youll be joining us later to talk about what we can take away from the message. Which might make it a more interesting segment. At 6 30 in the morning youre doing well. Coming up on fox and friends weekend. A 150,000 lamborghini bursts into flames. It only gets worst. Theyre supposed to be some of the smartest students in the world. What is a bigger threat to world peace . America or isis . To world peace . America. And now professors are blaming the u. S. For isis and the terrorist acts in paris. Shocking example on campus straight ahead. Boy once upon a time, there was a nice house that lived with a family. One day, it started to rain. The house tried to keep out all the water, but water got inside and ruined everybodys everythings. The house thought she let the family down. They just didnt think it could happen. They told the house they would take better care of her. Always. Announcer protect what matters. Get flood insurance. Quick headlines for you. Christians targeted by violent antiCharlie Hebdo protests in africa. At least ten people have died. Five of the victims were found inside churches that had been burned to the ground. The violence i rupted after the french newspaper issued the first cover since the attacks. And Congressional Democrats wasting no time in jetting to cuba following the president s announcement of opening relations to the communist country. A delegation of lawmakers lead by senator leahy arrived to discuss, quote expectations for the future. Thank you so much. 24 minute was a the hour. Theyre supposed to be some of the smartest students in the world, but one question got some pretty shocking answers at harvard. What is a big ere threat to world peace america or isis . To world peace . America. I dont think anyone would argue we didnt create the problem of isis ourselves. Were at some level the cause of it. Its not the first time world threats are twisted on college campuses. Here in the United States professors blaming the United States for isis and the terror attacks in paris. Well get to that in a bit. Here with more is the editor in chief of campus reform. Good morning, caleb. Good morning. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. How is it the students at harvard believe that america is a bigger threat to world peace than isis . Well, at the campus reform were seeing an alarming trend of students who want to appear to be intellectual. Its a faux intellectual that sees beyond the current, you know attacks were seeing by isis. Why theyre outraged and the reason behind that is western intervention in the middle east. And so theyre trying to appear to be intellectual when they claim that america is a greater threat to world peace. I guess theyre smarter than us. How about this . A professor is blaming the United States for the paris terror attacks saying this is what i called previously the clash of bar bashism. Represented by western intervention by especially the United States conduct in this region provoking a counter bark rich compared to the big ones. Who are the bigger well yeah the middle east not giving rights to women. Treating people the way they do. The real bar bar begans, fres for instance in the Charlie Hebdo attacks are those that restrict free speech who feel it is appropriate to murder 12 people in cold b
