wonderful. because mornings are better with friends, especially on the first sunday of summer. good morning, and come on in. stretch and wake up. we have a big show lined up. we have an obstacle course out on the plaza today, honoring a couple medal of honor recipients. >> and you have rick doing that, right? >> yeah, we're getting in on the action. >> we're taking bets. you have our e-mail. first, a fox news alert. secretary of state john kerry just touching down this morning in egypt. he's expected to rally support for the government in iraq. this as four more city, including a crucial border crossing, have been taken by isis militants. peter is live in washington for us with the latest. >> the secretary of state has a full plate right now. officials are describing his trip to cairo like this. the secretary will discuss a variety of issues covering our bilateral relationship as well as regional issues, including iraq, syria, libya, israeli-palestinian relationship, and the extremist and terror threats we all face. the secretary of state is going to be making a two-pronged diplomatic pitch to leaders in the middle east. the first part of that pitch is to convince other countries to do their part in condemning the isis militants that have taken over four cities in iraq in the last 24 hours. the u.s. city not asking other regional cities not to pick up arms. the second part of the page is to convince other countries it's in their best interest to back a new government in iraq set up to include shiites, sunnis, and kurds without isolating anyone. as for those 300 american troops being sent to iraq to stop the violence, the state department is calling them advisers. apparently these advisers are still in murky legal territory in iraq because officials say those legal protections for these americans are still unresolved. they're being worked out. finally, there is a lot of worry that oil supplies will be disrupted because of everything happening in iraq right now. the secretary of state is talking to leaders about ways around that as well. back to you. >> peter, thanks. appreciate it. here's a pretty unbelievable development in a story we've been following for weeks now. those irs e-mails, we believe lois lerner had contact with members of the democratic party. we don't know for sure because those e-mails have disappeared forever. the server broke and was, quote, recycled. that's what the commissioner of the irs told congress on friday. and now, well -- >> there's new information now they had an e-mail archiving company. they advertised that they represented and worked for the irk irs. in fact, they tweeted it out. look at this back in 2009. if the irs uses sonasoft products to back up their servers, why wouldn't you choose them to protect your servers? >> almost using it as a marketing tool. this is a piece from their website. this is who they are, what they do. they archive all e-mail content and so reduce the risk of noncompliance with legal regulatory and other obligations to preserve critical business content. so you wonder why nobody is talking to them to try to get this information. >> exactly. that is exactly the question. we were talking about this yesterday. why hasn't the head of sonasoft been pulled up? why hasn't the head i.t. guy at irs been pulled up? the technical part is the essence. where are these e-mails? these guys would know. >> in the era of the cloud and backup and doing it five different times, to say, oh, no, we raerased over the tapes. what is this, a surveillance camera in a deli? come on. >> seems like eventually the e-mails are going to come out. are they just kicking the can down the line long enough to where the other media outlets stop covering it and it becomes a benghazi issue, which is considered just dto be a fox story? there's so many different angles. they're supposed to have all hard copies for anything that pertains to dealing with policy. so these should all be hard copies as well. what about the hard drive being disposed of? there are so many people involved in all of this. you wonder, as the republicans were pointing at the commissioner this week in front of the house and ways committee, that are they lying? if they are, so many people would be involved. >> i think memo to sonasoft, they should probably expect a congress subpoena tomorrow morning based on this revelation we're talking about today. >> and you think they could expect a little news coverage too. you make such a good point. where is this story? i just read thenit"the new yor " times." i didn't see the story there. all kinds of stories about whatever their cultural objections are. nothing about the massive cover-up at the irs. clearly that's what this is. they're lying to us. >> nor have the stories been sufficient in terms of the enormity that was uncovered to begin with. the notion a government agency was targeting certain americans. the second part now is cover up and destruction of e-mails. >> exactly. >> let us know what you think about this story. and where is the media on this? it does pertain to all of us. well, this morning, new develo crisis at our southern border. close to 100,000 immigrants have arrived in arizona and texas in recent weeks. it's become a huge problem for the white house. in response, the white house is saying, well, we're going to speed up the deportation process. we're going to get those immigrants out of this country faster than we otherwise would have. the question is, do they really mean it? is this a credible promise? >> i don't know. what does greg abbott say? you spoke to him yesterday, the texas attorney general. what's really behind the surge? let's watch what he said. >> the word on the street, and we've had people who crossed the border, and they walked themselves up to the border patrol agents and turned themselves in. the border patrol agents are asking them why they are doing this. they say because they heard in honduras, in el salvador, in guatemala, that they could come to america and their children would be able to stay here. this has been an operation that occurred because the president basically swung open the doors and created a big invitation for these people to come here. so this is all caused by the presidential action. >> and that was a great interview, by the way. let's focus on this particular fact. back in 2013, the average time for the deportation of a person who had come to the united states illegally was 550 days. that's about a year and a half. in california, where a lot of these folks are being sent now, it's about 650 days back in 2013. now the white house is saying, well, we're going to speed this up. year and a half? two years? >> and that's for the people who weren't deported. only about half of people in this category have actually been deported at all. the rest have found reason to stay here. now, they claim asylum for, you know, being victims of harassment, being gay, being transgender, coming from a country where there's a lot of danger or turmoil. about half stay. a lot of these people are probably not going anywhere. >> some are saying this humanitarian crisis has been causing a national security crisis by the president. who's watching the border while these border patrol agents are acting like babysitters for one thing? you mentioned the crime associated sometimes with desperation and poverty. where are these folks being held? in a lot of cases, military installations. let us know what you think about this story as well. other stories making headlines this sunday, we are learning more this morning about one of three u.s. service members killed by a roadside bomb in afghanistan on friday. just one year ago, 19-year-old brandon made headlines for proudly wearing his uniform at his high school. the school denied him saying all must wear the uniform cap and gown. he was also a volunteer firefighter. overnight, the three-day search for a missing outdoor journalist in washington state called off after discovery of a body. 70-year-old karen sykes was found sunday. the experienced hiker was doing research for a new article when she was separated from her friend. the body has not yet been identified. a manhunt under way in arkansas for a murderer who managed to escape from prison. timothy buffington walked away from his work assignment. he was convicted in 1999 after shooting his ex-wife. he has been serving his 20-year sentence at the arkansas department of corrections in pine bluff just southeast of little rock. police consider him to be armed and dangerous. and she's known for reporting the news, but this morning she is the news. katie couric is hitched. the long-time anchor and talk show host marrying banker john molner in east hampton, new york. she tweeted this picture saying she was so excited to make her debut as pmrs. molner. >> congratulations. rick is standing by. speaking of genuinely great guys. >> not as good of a guy. >> all right. here's a look at your weather as you're waking up this morning. temperaturewise, already warm across the south. in fact, just kind of warm and sticky. that story continues for a lot of the day today. the northeast mid-atlantic has been spectacular. yesterday, another beautiful day. down in the south where it's hotter, we'll see storms firing in the afternoon. take a look at this. more rain across parts of the central plains. areas of nebraska, very heavy downpours this morning. this is the exact same area we've been seeing this for about a week. that's not good news. it's going to continue to kind of exacerbate the flooding threat we have going on there. the west, you're looking drier, of course, right now. can't buy any rain across california and arizona. then back towards the plain, another threat for severe weather. parts of kansas into nebraska down towards the pan handles of oklahoma and texas. unfortunately, we'll see the severe weather. the good part is this area, this western kansas and parts of western texas and oklahoma desperately need the rain. we'll see a few of those areas today that maybe get an inch or two of rain that will be helpful for them. >> that would be great. >> thank you, rick. >> you're welcome. >> you get an "a." >> you're a-plus, especially for 6:12 in 23 seconds. >> no red pen marking up that weather forecast. thanks. well, the irs of course targeted tea party group, and the e-mails to prove it, they're gone. the white house says it's just a republican conspiracy theory. our next guest doesn't buy that line at all. he's here to tell you why. >> and this family thought they were throwing out the first pitch, but the guy behind the plate was their dad, home from the war. the surprise that will make your day and ours too. coming back on "fox and friends." woman: this is not exactly what i expected. captain obvious: this is a creepy room. man: oh hey, captain obvious. captain obvious: you should have used hotels.com. their genuine guest reviews are written by guests who have genuinely stayed there. instead of people who lie on the internet. captain: here's a review, it's worse in person. my feet felt so heavy they used to get really tired. until i started gellin'. i got dr. scholl's massaging gel insoles. when they're in my shoes, my feet and legs feel less tired. it's like walking on a wave, dr. scholl's massaging gel insoles, i'm a believer! that's keeping you from the healthcare you deserve. at humana, we believe if healthcare changes, if it becomes simpler... if frustration and paperwork decrease... if grandparents get to live at home instead of in a home... the gap begins to close. so let's simplify things. let's close the gap between people and care. ♪ it's progressive pain. first you have that, that feeling of numbness. then you get the hot pins. it got to the point where i felt like, almost like lightning bolts, hot strikes into my feet. the pain was, it was... i just couldn't handle it, so my doctor prescribed lyrica. the pain has been reduced and i feel better than i did before. let's welcome guy benson. you think back to last spring, and the white house made a few different claims about how they found out about everything that was going on. do you buy the idea that there were no direct communications with lois lerner? are you taking them at their word? >> i'm not taking them at their word on virtually anything as it pertains to this story. they're trying to say, look, there's nothing to see here, move on, people. insofar as sneering dismissiveness as their default setting on any story, it's perversely comforting they're going with that playbook again because this is what they do. let's just review the facts for people who are not reflexive defenders of the administration. step one, for two years the irs denied they were targeting conservatives. they said it wasn't happening. then when the inspector general report was about to blow the lid off the fact that they are, they finally admitted it. step two, they said, well, but we're doing it but it was just these line employees down in cincinnati, rogue employees, not a d.c.-based thing. that turned out not to be true. it was directed by washington, d.c. step three, agency defenders said there were progressive groups and liberal groups that were targeted the same way as conservative conservatives. that was not true, according to the irs' own information and numbers they put out. finally, step four, the new irs commissioner, the man supposedly brought in to clean up this stuff testified, yes, yes, we'll turn in all of lois lerner's e-mail until, oops, that's not true either because all the e-mails were stored on a hard drive that crashed, and it's since been recycled so you can't look through it to find the information. also, by the way, the supposed crash, the ostensible crash that occurred happened to go down within ten days of the first congressional inquiry about targeting back in 2011. the white house looks at this and says, oh, just scoff away, everyone, this is a conspiracy theory. most americans say, we don't think so. >> well, many americans aren't getting regular updates on this story, as you know, guy, because other than fox, most networks aren't covering it. other than a few newspapers, most of the press isn't covering it. do you have an explanation for that? this strikes me as a pretty cut-and-dry abuse of power story. >> well, the explanation is one that applies to many things. that is that generally the mainstream media is supportive of the obama administration and their policies and their world view at the very least. the mainstream media, the political media is by and large populated with liberal democrats. so they're more likely to give more scrutiny to conservatives in congress or conservative administrations than they are to liberals. that's just an every day reality those of us on the right have to live with. as you point out, this is not just a right versus left or a political story. this is an egregious abuse of power by a very powerful agency that has been lying about it over the past two years for reasons that i just laid out in that series of events. >> you don't need to be a conservative to be upset about this. >> no, exactly. >> thanks for joining us. we're out of time. >> thank you. 20 minutes after the hour. take a look at this. that's a sleeping kid under a -- yeah, he's duct taped to a bed. the day care that did that not exactly sorry. the story that will outrage every parent is coming up. and more with rick and richard. it's a great interview coming up. at od, whatever business you're in, that's the business we're in with premium service like one of the best on-time delivery records and a low claims ratio, we do whatever it takes to make your business our business. od. helping the world keep promises. nobody ever stomped their foot and asked for less. because what we all really want... ...is more. there's a reason it's called an "all you can eat" buffet. and not a "have just a little buffet". that's the idea behind the more everything plan. it's more of everything you want. for less. plus, get the droid maxx by motorola for 0 down. get more with our best plans on the best network. for best results, use verizon. you know, the salesmanwhen comes over...r, and tells you, "okay, this is the price," and you're like. you know, you don't know if you're getting a good deal or not. that's what led up to us looking at truecar.com. and it shows you all the information... you need about what price you should be paying. you know, and with truecar.com, my feeling is that... we got a fair price. there's no buyer's remorse, you know. i'm happy with my purchase. it's the truth. when you're ready to buy a car, save time, save money, and never overpay. visit truecar.com up and at them. some quick headlines. a federal appeals court telling an atheist group they have to give a better reason why the cross at the september 11th museum is offensive and violates their constitutional rights. the steel beam was found in the rubble following the world trade center terrorist attack. and mobsters in church, you've seen it in movies. >> michael francis, do you renounce satan?
