good morning, everybody. it's september 3, 2016. we have a fox news alert. hurricane hermine thrashes the east coast flooding neighborhoods and homes and now the tropical storm is heading north. is it regaining strength. don't ask hillary clinton why she e-mailed confidential information, she blames it on a brain injury. that's true. and he says, hey, i'm not saying i did it, but if i did, would it really be such a bad thing? close to you.
what a bad shame. "fox and friends" begins right now. ♪ good morning, everybody. welcome in to "fox and friends." today is the first saturday of college football. it's actual fallgate day as well. we're heading on the plaza. if you're hungry for ribs and barbecue, come on. >> there's not a holiday we don't celebrate. we're going go all the way. >> you know me. i'm fashion forward. >> what is this? you didn't wear your white suit because it's labor day weekend? >> it's getting chilly in the air. i love it.
great to see both of you. >> we need to get right to it. we have a fox news alert for you. >> this time the news comes directly from an fbi report about the bureau's interview with secretary clinton. >> kristen fisher is here this morning to break it all down. good morning, kristen. >> good morning. boy, did it contain some bombshells. one of the biggest is that during her interview with the fbi, she told investigators she could not remember key details about her e-mails at least 35 times. she told fbi agents she can could not recall when she got security clearance, when she got any training and she could not recall specialized training for management on closely held doubts. we learned that hillary clinton herself was concerned that her private e-mail server was hacked. quote, clinton was worried
someone hacked into her e-mail given that she was given an e-mail from a known associate with a link to a website that had pornographic material. if opened the computer may have been infected and sent information overseas including one in russia. clinton is responding with a statement where she says in part, while her use of a single e-mail account was clearly a mistake, and she has already taken responsibility for it -- >> her answers to the fbi about her e-mail server defied belief. after reading these documents i really don't understand how she was able to get away from prosecution. now, one final thing that we learned. clinton had not two but 13 mobile devices and the fbi wasn't able to recover any of them partly because according to these documents, an aide to bill
clinton used a hammer, physically used a hammer to smash clinton's blackberries when she was done with them. back to you. >> it's hammer time. >> that is amazing. >> live from washington. >> thanks, kristin. >> thanks. >> 13 devices. who has 13 devices. >> that's not evenly 13. >> this is not even 13. >> some of these are our producers devices so the ones i dropped i apologize. how you do keep track of all of these. we broke one in half. >> how do you know which one is ringing half the time. >> they would dispose of the sim card, the aides would, and as fisher said, one aide smashed it with a hammer or broke it in half. >> we know all this because the fbi dumped a 60-page dossier on hillary clinton yesterday which as you know was the friday before memorial day weekend at about 3:00 in the afternoon.
this is not the first time we've seen this. this is a pattern of putting out relevant information before a holiday weekend. >> remember saying this on july 4th weekend. memorial day weekend, that was the first. everyone was away for a long weekend. >> new year's eve, everybody was thinking about politics, not tu near, there were 3,079. >> and then the fourth of july weekend, that took place while you were out bausch coug. this is why it's bad and ominous and scary is because it's what the fbi did. this is what the campaigns do, they try to protect the people. the fbi is the law enforcement agency. they're not supposed to be helping hillary clinton or donald trump or any politician. next time you're under the lights sweating before the fbi, you twoonlts believe they're totally nonpartisan, not trying
to advance a political agenda. i'm having a hard time believing it's true. >> they're calling into question not only the documents but the timing of when the documents are dumped on a holiday weekend. even if it is credible since james comey was calling all the shots that he can be trusted, did everything correctly, it certainly plays into the donald trump narrative that the system is rigged and that's a system he's been win on. >> there's so many things we're learned from this. she seemed to repeatedly throughout these e-mails and these documents deferring to other people on classified information, either i don't recall or i don't even know what the letter "c" means, meaning classified. >> she thought it meant alphabetical order, a, b, c. that's what she said.
>> there are so many things that stand out. >> what's so interesting is she's making a case that unlike trump, she's competent, she's been around a long time she's the adult in the room. she tells the fbi, yeah, see, had no idea what that meant. this is a person who's been in government for 25 years. she goes on to explain why she didn't know. this is the amazing part of the 60 pages. she said she didn't know because she didn't remember being briefed on security protocols. >> right. or she couldn't remember key briefings. if you dive into some of it, they don't claim she simply came out and said because of my slip and fall and my concussion, i don't recall. she said i wasn't there a lot because of my concussion and, therefore, i don't recall the briefing. >> the fbi quotes her doctor saying she doesn't remember because of the concussion and subsequent blood clot. there's a quote from the fbi. maybe the doctor didn't say that. the fbi said the doctor said
that. >> just because you don't know something doesn't mean you should be exonerated for it. think if you blow through a stop sign and the officer pulls you over and you say, oh, i didn't know it was a stop sign. you still get the ticket. >> what the press has been saying anybody who engages in helping her is engaging in it. here she is admitting that her brain injuries -- i mean she told the fbi this. i don't think there's any other way to read it. that it prevents her from doing her job. that's not conspiracy theory. she said that. >> last night mike huckabee said remember when the banks were too big to fail. >> it's just not realistic.
if she really doesn't remember fundamental facts of national security like this, then she has no busy being sworn in as president and we need to make sure the american people don't make what could be an incredibly irrevocable mistake. >> so she said she didn't remember, i think, 40 times in this interview. that's oncer three minutes. have you ever had an exchange with people that said every three minutes, i don't remember. i'd start to worry. >> especially when you're running on i'm the most qualified candidate to run for president. >> maybe she should say, i think, but i can't recall. 40 times? that's a lot of not remembering. >> let us know your thoughts. meanwhile we've got to get to this. tropical hermine is barreling up the east coast threatening millions in its path.
terrifying winds whipping across a nearly empty hilton head beach which would normally be packed. >> and in hard-hit florida hundreds without power. trying to clean up. who would have any idea what's going on? that would be rick reichmuth. >> we're 20 minutes in. >> really? >> it finally did off florida. here's where it us now. rain across parts of north carolina, virginia, and delaware. the rain is -- as far as the rain being the story, it's about to end because it's going to pull offshore here and then it just stalls out. take a look at these figures here. sunday, overnight, here's our location for it. thursday, here's our location, here's a block in the atmosphere. ite goes doing be completely

well, here's some breaking news literally. clinton's aides smashed her old electronic devices with a hammer, ones used to presumably send classified e-mail. also in the fbi report on their meeting with hillary clinton she recalls typically nothing on how to handle classified information. how will this news affect her campaign if at all? does it have an i affect, this 60-page dossier was dropped right before a holiday weekend presumably in the hopes that no one would read it. is this news going to filter down to voters? >> you would think it would but it's probably not going to. they don't seem to have a significant impact on her poll numbers. for sure they make americans not
trust her. a majority find her untrustworthy and dishonest but it doesn't seem to affect her poll numbers. >> her poll numbers seem to have slipped lately. why is that? >> they are. that's because her post-convention bounce is starting to wear off. this is to be expected. we were already expecting this to happen. donald trump, he's behind. he's behind by about four points, three to four points in the polls despite her sliding and we find that trump is doing worse right now than mitt romney was at the same time in 2012 nationally in the battleground states. right now trump is trailing clinton in every single battleground states except arizona and missouri and those two states shouldn't be competitive to begin with.
>> you say her post bounce evaporated. why -- >> not evaporated. this is almost always the case. you get a bounce after the convention, people are very excited, and then it starts to wane. she's still far ahead in the battle ground states. i think this is to be expected. >> what's the spread there? >> if you go nationally, she's three to four points ahead on average. she remains ahead, and in the battleground states, she's ahead by five points on average. so if we were to look at donald trump, he's actually behind where romney is. so overall i think he's underperforming. and to be fair, hillary clinton is overperforming what we expect her to be doing. we would expect that to her, another candidate. but this election is like no other election in recent memory.
we have two historic dis-liked candidates. we find both untrustworthy and as a consequence, we have a third-party candidate getting a share of the votes. the other thing that's bizarre is forecasting models used to predict the outcome based on the fundamentals lie how fast the economy is growing should suggest a republican should be winning right now and it's not happening. clinton's e-mails should be hurting her campaign and they're not and donald trump should be in the lead, but he's not. this election is just bizarre. the reason is donald trump's taken hard line stance on immigration but it's made him inpalatable to swing voters. >> okay. that's an editorial comment. i disagree. but great to see you anyway, emily. good to see you.

welcome back. the race to the white house. the candidates are promising the best for the middle class which has been sandwiched. but which candidate would be best for family of four. here to help us break it down is financial planner david ray. nice to have you. >> thanks for having me. >> what did you find, eight weeks away. >> really for the middle class, look at the big picture, child care, social security, and tax rates. that's probably oversimplifying it. if you go, oh, my gosh, my tacks go down "x" dollars but if you lose in other places you pay more when you look at the big picture. >> let's look at trump versus hillary's plan for the working poor.
this is between $20,000 and $45,000. that's considered working poor. who's better here? >> really hillary is going for the working poor, people who aren't making a ton of money will work better under hillary's plan. it's really about what you're paying now. trump will give you some tax breaks and you'll pay a little bit less but if you take into account child care and social security and other perks that you might have as a loyer income earner, you're going to end up netting a lot less money in your pocket. >> so trump not as good for the working poor. >> correct. >> what about the second, trump versus hillary on the middle class, all focus on the middle class that really has been decimated. who win this one? >> middle income has been squeezed. making good money but paying a lot of taxes and you have child care. i mean that's a huge amount of money when you think about what college costs and we take into account student loans and student debts that people are
taking into account. so trump is going to do okay for these people. he's going to do tax breaks that sound great, close to $1,000, but, again, you're going end one less social security and less credits for child care and other things you might be doing. >> so for a family of four in the middle class in that $45,000, to be clear, they're earned $45,000 to $81,000. >> correct. >> who's better for a family of four in that bracket? hillary? >> it would be hillary. there u buh there are a bunch of other factors. just talking financially, you're going to ejd up with more money in your pocket at the end of the day with hillary clinton. >> david rae, thank you so much. thanks for breaking down some of these numbers. >> here's the latest on the e-mail bombshell. don't take my word for it. there he is. he's outside playing football. it's college football saturday. and nancy pelosi has a message for those pesky hackers who stole files after her

hillary clinton in hot water again after more on her private e-mail server. >> a report released just yesterday by the fbi, about 58 pages of her interview with federal officials suggest she lied. >> kristin fisher is here live from washington, d.c., with more on this. good morning, kristin. >> good morning. one of the striking revelations in these documents is that clinton used 13 different mobile devices and some of them were destroyed by an aide to bill clinton who actually smashed them with a hammer. the thing that everyone is going to remember most about these documents is how little clinton claims to remember about her e-mails, server, or even her handling of classified information. she told nbifbi agents she didn remember receive any specialized training. this poses problems for clinton on several fronts. first when she became secretary
of state, she had to sign two documents stating she knew the rules and violating the rules could result in criminal charges. second, these so-called memory lapses play right into trump's playbook that perhaps she's not mentally or physically fit to be commander in chief. trump said yesterday, quote, hillary clinton's answers to the fbi about her private e-mail server defied belief after reading the documents. they don't understand how she was able to get away from prosecution. no surprise the clinton campaign is saying the exact opposite. they say these documents show why the fbi did not recommend to indict, but make no mistake, information in these documents is overwhelmingly negative for the clinton campaign, which is likely one reason why -- one big reason why all these documents were dumped on it right before the big holiday weekend. >> thank you so much. david webb, a fox news radio host and one of our contributors is here now with reaction to the story. >> good morning. >> good morning. >> good morning, david. >> is the american public tuning
this out or is it going to affect her come november? >> they claim her health is not an issue. she can't remember what she was told in a briefing she was given. here's the other part of it. it's not what you're told. it's what's written. when you're given briefings, you're giving documentation, this is what you do. i guess that got destroyed with her e-mail or hard copies are destroyed forever. the fact is the two can't be true. you can't be willfully ignorant or be unqualified and be the most qualified person. it just doesn't work. it's just common sense. >> the fbi says hillary clinton says her doctor advised her she should only work a couple of hours a day because of her concussion and blood clot and she wasn't able to remember entire briefings. the clinton people are hysterically responding to this. you saw amy klobuchar come out. here's what she said. it tells you her strategy.
>> hillary clinton has put out her medical records. i have seen her personally. you have seen her personally, andrea. she is in shape, she's strong. she has a ton of energy. and i find this actually quite sexist when these guys are saying this. i think that that is not an issue at all and the american voters know that. >> sorry. that was msnbc saying different. she hasn't put out her medical records. neither has others. don't voters have a right to see her medical records? these are 70-year-old people. >> look at the nfl and concussions. one concussion or multiful concussions, they're an issue to be dealt with. if it's such a big issue for the nfl, why isn't it for hillary clinton. she asserts it as a defense for the fbi, but we should ignore it. come on, america, how can it be true. >> the discussion with colin powell seeking his counsel on
the blackberry and the use of the blackberry. he seems to warn her. he says, i've been able to get around this. he says, if this gets out, this will become an official record. i was able to get around it because my data wasn't going through certain channels, certain servers. he didn't suggest to her set up the private e-mail server. in veiled way that's what she was saying. i should set up my own e-mail server. she said she was a year ahead of this conversation with colin powell. hillary clinton might be the first time-traveling candidate running for president. there's something else i want the american public to know about. when a document is classified, "c" for classified and "s" for secret, she was careless with documents that had dual markings. come on, america. do you really buy the two can be true? >> she didn't even recognize
what "c" stood for. >> right. so hillary clinton's read into the program who's the highest classification of the story. not second, the highest, who's responsible for it, does not know it but is capable of being president. >> "the new york times" this morning saying basically what we saw friday night, which is consistent with everything that hillary clinton has said so far, "new york times" basically saying nothing to see here. >> consistently deceiving the american people, telling lies, and then -- >> "the new york times" or hillary clinton here? >> there's not much different between the two. >> before we move on, i want to get your thoughts real quick. part of the story is hillary clinton but the other part of the story is some conservatives are critical of the fbi investigation and the timing of these documents. very often on holiday weekend, memorial day, new year's eve, labor day -- >> this is the fifth holiday dump. my question is this. do you want to watch your agency continually be degraded,
destroyed, and the integrity impugned by the political strife and decisions being made. there are a lot of good people i have known for a long time. do you want your integrity destroyed by the politics of what's going on now? somebody's got to pick out. >> comey's destroying it. it's really bad. so trump is headed to detroit today. he's going to dr. ben carson. they're speaking to a black church. the left and hillary's campaign is outraged. how dare he address voters. their vote belongs to us. he should not be allowed to speak. >> whether he speaks from a suburban neighborhood or a black church, they're going to call him a racist. does it change the message, tucker? the black cities are not mono livic. there are millionaire blacks, multi-million air blacks. the suburban blacks, and there's more. they've been failed by the policies of the democrats.
that's failure in economics and education. trump needs to speak to education and your economy. and to ask black people the simple question which he's done before, what have you got to lose if for 50 years all you've been doing is losing. poverty, single mother, no education. come on. you're living your reality. one of the democrats actually delivered, key word, delivered, broken promises, failures, and you're right. all they care about is your vote. once you vote, they leave, and they're back for the next one. >> david webb, great to see you as always. >> it's been a few hours. >> all right. on to some other stories making headlines on your saturday morning, let's start with this fox news alert. a police officer shot dead in the line of duty. it happened in alma gordo, new mexico, when a traffic stop turned into a shoot-out. the officer was chasing a suspect with a long rap sheet

well, you've heard donald trump's plan for immigration. he laid it out in a speech last week. what would happen if hillary clinton becomes president? what are her views of immigration? what would the effects be? we've got shocking numbers that give openen door policy a whole new meaning. joining us to lay it out is steven. he broke down the numbers. great to see you this morning. >> thank you for having me. >> give us the views of donald trump. very little attention being paid to hillary clinton's views on this. tell us what they are. >> basically we're on auto pilot to probably have about 6 million permanent immigrants, illegal, temporary migrants who come in.
she said she will not support them unless they commit a violent crime. she wants to admit 65,000 refugees. if she did that, repeated it every year, that would add another quarter mill up. and finally if she were to get the amnesty, the one that was in the senate a few years past, that would double legal immigration from 1 million a year to 2 million a year. you might see a whole lot more folks, 10 million during the course of her presidency. >> interesting. we were working with this number 11 million when we were talking the number of them in this country. that's taken from census. what do you think the real number is? >> i'm one of those folks who things 10 to 12 million makes sense. here's a reason why. when we look, pretty good administrative data. it generally lines up with census data, so we do think the
census misses a million, maybe two million legal immigrants. it's fair to say, no one knows for sure. >> so donald trump said the other night our immigration policy ought to be base odden what's good for america. if we need more software engineers, we should issue visas to more software engineers. hillary clinton gives attention to those who are here or not and whether they have families in the country. is that correct? >> yes, that's basically right. the big question that no one ever asked is this good for american workers? what's the absorption capacity of schools and hospitals. how many people can we assimilate. remember, we're under trajectory in six or seven years to hit the all-time record in terms of immigrants in terms of the shares of immigrants. that would be the total immigrant population and it will be a record 15678% of the u.s.
population. >> have the environmentalists weighed in on this? do the environmentalists, they're not for this, are they? >> right. that's a great question. even agrees the current trajectory will add up. that's the immigrants who come and the children they have. we can project this. the census bureau has already done this and most environmentalists look at it and say, no, that matters. but when the subject of immigration comes up, those that are part of it generally remain silent. >> what cowards. thanks a lot. we appreciate that brag down. next stop, the shower. how's that for creepy. and he put up a flag to support the police but was told to take it down after complaints it was offensive and disgusting. that's the american flag, just so you know. that homeowner joins us next. miles per hour.

basically to have the right values, and having this flag up, for me, is basically to show solidarity and support for not only fallen officers but those that are in the heat of the battle every day and specifically i put this flag up right after the event as few weeks ago from dallas when the officers were ambushed, and that wasn't just my way of showing just a little bit of support. >> yeah. five police officers were killed. i know you just wanted to show support for your own community but the property owners association wasn't happy when you raised the flag. the resident in issue displayed a version of what is known as "blue lives matter flag," but they say you were not in conformity of the neighborhood's restrictions. in light of what they're saying,
why not have two flags? could you have two flags, one of the american flag and then one of the police flag? >> i do display the american flag as well and i have for several years. i've lived in this community for 60 years, have flown various flags along with the united states flag, military flags and so forth, which has never been a problem. as far as the altered flag, i know, and i understand how it resonates with a lot of people around the country, but as far as -- you know, our military has versions of the flag that have maybe matte colors or things like that. doinltd see it as some people describe it as a desecration of the flag. it's the meaning behind the flag for me personally. >> i see what you mean. rodney, because this cause is so near and dear to your heart, i want to get your thoughts on the latest thoughts on the headline of colin kaepernick who's not

education. talk about school choice. talk about criminal justice reform. >> you're saying trump should stay on message. >> stay on message. sometimes that doesn't go well together. >> e ebony, does we have a realistic chance of winning over the voters he's speaking to today? >> some. these increments matter. go ask george w. bush in his second election. he was able to chip into john kerry's black voter base in ohio. that's a state that significantly matters. had john kerry done better with black voters in ohio, perhaps the outcome would have been a little different. small increments matter. to john's point, this effort is not in vain as many are framing it to be. >> the response of democrats have been one about rage, like how dare you speak to people whose votes are ours, like this

hillary clinton in a tough position because they endorsed black lives matter, does it not? >> black lives matter and everyone outside of black lives matter in the urban community want change. they don't want to be placated. they don't want the same old script. they want results. again, through education, opportunities, through criminal justice reform and real jobs. we're seeing a huge bubbling up of violence and a lot of things, negative things in the black community not because of guns but because of the absence of real opportunity. i think trump has the opportunity to bring a message that is not about redistribution of wealth but redistribution of opportunity. >> let me put up a section of the memo i referred to from 2015. here's the advice. don't offer support for concrete policy positions, lead from behind, stick to small meetings. avoid terms like black on black
