says the benghazi suspected a pentagon spokesperson also avoided releasing too many details. all the proceedings regarding abu khatallah handled by the justice department. >> as you know khatallah has been held on the uss new york since june 15th where he has been questioned by groups including the fbi, cia and defense intelligence agency personnel. some say khatallah is not described as the mast err planner. according to some sources little has been done to nab other suspects. they also say u.s. intelligence could have acted upon other leads but detentions been ignored or put on hold. that includes but doesn't exclude some members of al qaeda al sharia and libyan militants. the state department insists that khatallah is important. >> we have been committed to bring to justice those responsible for the attacks in benghazi. there has been a great amount of media attention made to him. i just would categorically deny any assertion that he has anything other than significant. >> two controversies in washington. >> we saw the recent poll numbers for president obama, his disapprove ratings are pretty darn high right now. smart political move summer few people paying attention to politics. congress hats lowest rating in this country. commune call diseases actually have a higher rating than congress. the president is going to go after congress and say they are whining about him not doing his job. got reports this week about a 2% decrease from the economy from the first quarter and congress is not doing anything. the president says instead of worrying about the economy they're worrying about me. listen. >> i'm not sure which of the things i have done they find most offensive. but they have decided they are going to sue me for doing my job. you know, i mean, i might have said in the heat of the moment during one of these debates i want to raise the minimum wage so sue me when i do, i didn't think they were going to take it literally. >> demagogue. i remember covering his 2008 election, the campaign, and again and again he said i will treat you as an adult. i'm not going to spoon you pablem. i'm always going to treat with you respect and never patron nice you. he says stuff like that it's so false, it's so phoney, it's so whiney and self-pitying. mostly it's so wrong. is he being sued for taking power away from congress and bringing it to the executive. >> the democrats argue on the other side of that is they are saying republicans are are whining root the right now because you extended executive power under the bush years and now instead of putting pen to paper and passing legislation to reduce executive powers you are whining about it and going to sue me over this thing. >> no way to reduce it except by cutting off the funding which i i agree they ought to do. if they believe and congress believes, right in my view. congress is doing things -- shouldn't fund those agencies. >> president's approval ratings all time -- going to the grocery store, like boutique grocery store and ice cream parlor and burger joint and trying to make himself more appealing to the media not only blaming republicans but blaming the media. a a new poll out, this is so startling. 28% of the united states standing above other countries is the way people are feeling about this. 58% of people polled say the u.s. is one of the greatest countries and 12% that there are better countries. in other words, patriotism in the united states not doing so hot. >> this is an all-time low for the pew research study. it was interesting because it broke it down not only by demographic roots. 46% of conservatives dent think that america is exceptional anymore. democrats he lower than that. >> much lower. >> much lower than that surprising numbers, of course. that 12% number when they absolutely definitively said yes, there are other countries in the world that are far better than the united states definitive in their answer. >> not so surprising if the president himself gets of up and says yeah, america is fine. a lot of other countries are great too. they think they are great we think we are great. half dozen another all the same. kind of relativism, if the leader of the country is saying that you. can you agree that the president agrees? >> i think it's a reflection of the presidency of what comes out of the oval office, the white house. the majority of those that don't have the sense of american exceptionism or superiority or liberals, democrats, i think they take their could you from a -- cue when asked about american exceptionism yes the greeks have a sense of exceptionism and the greeks and us. if everybody is exceptional, nobody is. >> whether the united states is even hostile to business right now. go to new zealand and have a business up and running on the same day. united states you think of business friendly, capitalism? no. it takes weeks and weeks. >> we are getting lectured by canada on capitalism. >> all these war on god in school too with the pledge of allegiance and meet me at the pole and meet me at the flag pole, these christian groups going there always under fire, it's almost made >> well, i think we would all be wise to maybe send a memo off to the united nations that says if you have got issues with water, let's go work on countries where they live in sand. detroit last time i checked is on the greatest fresh water supply in the united states and speaking of american exceptionism, we sort of have a rich history of making sure that people in this country get food and water. >> well, the u.n. experts responded wednesday to these shutoffs and basically saying look, they should only be cut off when nonpayment is as a result of someone not being -- they though they can pay but they are not paying so these are being shut off and this is a human rights violation. >> so what happened is when the city began to move forward with turning off water for people to had not paid their bills for months. remarkable athings occurred. next day the people walked down to the water department with a bagful of money and paid their bills. when we work with struggling municipalities across the country the first thing we say to them is collect the money from the people who are using your services. we criticize detroit a lot. they are getting it right here. >> their water bills are so high there why in detroit 50% higher than in other major cities across the country. >> two reasons. one, a rich history of people not paying their bills. that makes everyone else have to pay more. the second is this culture that has existed for years where detroit spends money they don't need to. quick example, most people when they retire, get 12 pension checks, in detroit they used to get 13 because they would give them a bonus check at christmas. those costs get passed on to rate payers, that's why the water bill in detroit is 50% higher than the rest of america. detroit is finally actually trying to get people to pay their bills. >> i want to read a statement from john conyers. >> over the past decade detroiters have seen their water rates 119%. global financial crisis that left 1 in 5 residents in foreclosure and sent local unemployment rates skyrocketing. under cut detroiters' ability to pay agree or disagree. >> the strugglers you have got it look at the fact that detroit was an american embarrassment when it went bankrupt. we are trying to build that back easy to criticize detroit. the fact that detroit is saying pay for the services that you use. if you don't have the ability it to pay. there are prasms to take care of you. but if you simply refuse to pay, we're going to do something about that that's what detroit is doing. >> and then yesterday, front page story in the "new york times." people walking away from their homes in droves. aren't able to give these homes away. $500 a house at auction. really troubling times for detroit. >> nice to see you this morning. >> you as well. >> four star admiral with successful career in the navy. family says he was used scapegoat in the attack on pearl harbor. grandson fighting to restore his name. you will meet him next. you don't want to miss this photo. shia labeouf going on a rampage hours before he was cuffed by police. why was he chasing a homeless man, the details are next. is this all part of a movie stunt? >> tucker, the way this thing took shape, nine days after the pearl harbor attack. the president of the united states selected a sitting supreme court associate diswrowive investigate the matter. 10 days after the attack miller kimmel and general short. the head of the army hawaiian command were fired and replaced. 11 days after the pearl harbor attack, justice roberts began his deliberations. they investigated for a grand total of 36 days. 47 days after the pearl harbor attack. justice roberts declared, declared that admiral kimmel and general short were solely blameable for the success of the japanese attack and, this is what sticks in the crawl, derelict in their duty. and that was the end of the story. >> that's obviously completely silly. they didn't know more about it than the president himself did. they obviously were escape imots. it's pretty clear in history. lots of people have looked into this. as you know at your urging and reached the same conclusion. why won't the president take the steps necessary to clear the record? >> well, because that would require the navy department and the department of defense to admit their own mistakes. and they are just not inclined to do that. they rely on abstractions. kimmel was the boss no matter what happens he is responsible. of course the reason i'm here today is because -- not because of the kimmel's mission, it's because the pearl harbor survivors in 198 slitted my -- solicited my dad and uncle both deceased now to assist the pearl harbor's survivors in their mission to rehabilitate the reputation of their commanders kimmel and short. my dad and my can you uncle werm mid by the president of the pearl harbor survi
