you probably missed this if you are just waking up, three people are dead this morning and dozens injured after a horrible accident at an air race event in nevada. this video is disturbing. terrifying. >> you can hear in the video absolute horror as the plane plummets full speed straight into the ground and the crowd below. >> one victim, the pilot himself, a 74-year-old veteran stunt pilot, more than 1,000 people were there when it happened. listen to the chaos. >> they were like, no one knew what to do and we and another person and a couple others took the him corporate to help them and put wheels on it and rolled it to where they were and filled it up with gas and as we did that we put people in it and brought them here. >>alisyn: mechanical problems they believe were to blame for the crash. we will write you a live report later from reno, from the scene. it was a vintage world war ii racing plane traveling up to 400 miles per hour. >>dave: you can hear air show folks and you do not get a go picture of this, nascar in the sky. an air race. they race 500 miles per hour, 50' above the ground. there have been many safety advocate whose say this needs to stop and they need to do something about it. four deaths in 2007 and 2008 but in spectators have been killed so they have a decent record with that. >> 19 people killed since 1941, but no pedestrians or spectators usually occurring in the desert airspace. my father-in-law was in the stands at the air show or the air race and he was three seconds before impact the plane turned from his direction and impacted 150' from where my father-in-law was sitting in the stands. >>dave: we will get him live. >>alisyn: the sad news is three people are dead and 15 are in critical condition. and now to the rest of the headlines. the two american hikers jailed in iran now face another set back as they looked forward to freedom. a lawyer said that he was unable to submit the final papers for the bail applications because a second judge failed to appear in court and sign the release. the pair were arrested more than two years ago, hiking along the iraq and iran bored. >> they are hired to keep our skies safer but dozens screeners are in hot water for not. 20 workers in hawaii were fired after an investigation found they were not screening checked bags. the agency began to probe at the end of last year, and among other employees, sorry, after other employees warned officials of the problem. they are supposed to screen for explosives. >> general motors agreed to a deal on a new four year contract. details remain thought announced but the union got what it wanted in terms of health care benefits, profit sharing and rehiring of laid off workers. the takes are the first since they were bailed out and will set the tone for contract negotiations between the union and ford and chrysler. >> here is a heart wrenching video. a military mom surprised her son at school. >> mommy! >> mommy! >> you miss me? we can't wait to ask karl rove. >>alisyn: and the associated press has been investigating this and say the bush people thought the company might have merit but they felt there was more investigation that needed to be done. so they said "no." here is congressman murphy yesterday on "newsroom." >> the committee voted unanimously to not go along with this loan and then it rose again like lazarus. >>alisyn: like lazarus. >>clayton: and the warning signs in the e-mails show they ignored warnings of the risk of solyndra a while ago as early as january of this year from the office of management and budget. they said the optics of a solyndra default is bad. if they default the optics are arguably worse than today. and the timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season. this is from omb saying "bad politics." >>dave: or bad economics. so this is the height of corruption or carelessness. you can decide. we will find out in the weeks ahead. it was a moronic decision. >>alisyn: we don't know why the white house decided to ignore the advice and the red flags. there were plenty. they knew solyndra was in trouble with cash. >>clayton: traps. but even the "wall street journal" had an interesting article, four months ago solyndra sent e-mails to the white house saying "we're good, on track, looking good in the market with a lot of most up," and the white house responds "that's great news." maybe solyndra throwing a lot of wool over the white house's eyes. >>dave: corrupt or criminal?
