>> the same reason over 1000 means are being made, he came out with his typical that we speak spanish and stand on tables even though i'm irish and have a spanish nickname. it didn't go off well, didn't do well on the big stage and certainly cory booker said you are not the only one who can speak spanish so it was just a disaster. it really showed there was no substance behind him. i think is a great motivational speaker but it is over for him at this point. >> he kind of came out choosing more moderate lane. i thought issues of healthcare and immigration, when they tried to get him bite on the 70% tax rate he didn't bite on that. seems he's more center than he was two months ago. what did you think? >> true but what difference does it make when he doesn't know how to bite back. he got destroyed and sat there looking like a little child. he was getting pounded on and he sat there looking confused. he didn't fight back and say these are issues that are important, this is where most of the country is coming in the center, in the middle so he didn't know how to fight on these issues and that is where he failed and it is unfortunate because that is what everyone expected him to do, he didn't prove them wrong. >> a lot of people not necessarily surprised because he has been dropping off the last few months. speaking of conversation let's talk donald trump. he was a lot of the conversation, 19 minutes and 24 seconds, time spent talking about the president to be exact. is that the best strategy? >> according to claire mccaskill she said they didn't spend enough time talking about trump which i disagree. senator warren didn't mention trump one time, she didn't have to because she has plans to talk about. you can talk about trump but you have to convince the american people that you have a better plan and better solutions and that is what will take to beat trump but first the democratic primary, beating trump will not be enough. donald trump has alienated our allies and friends. >> donald trump and his cabinet are creating a situation that would light off a war with iran. >> the biggest threat to the security of the united states is donald trump. >> focusing on the president, they are not going after each other as much. do they need to focus on each other more? >> first of all they need to focus on some plans. they need to focus on what you are actually going to do for the american people and and establish yourself from the other candidates but this round of candidates were really just trying to get out of the bottom tier. we will see more back and forth and more challenging each other tonight as we move through the next 11 races to go. >> now mentioned joe biden or bernie sanders. are you surprised by that and what do you expect to see tonight? >> i'm not surprised by that at all. i've said before on fox that let's see if everybody talks like they do on the big stage. most people when they come face-to-face don't cover the same aggression they did prior. i want to see if bernie sanders mentions joe biden by name. we will get a chance to see if they will come after joe biden and i want to see if joe biden stays on his position that he is been standing for for the last few years so it will be more interesting. shannon: thank you. rob: we appreciate it. jillian: the flood of illegal immigrants at the border taking center stage at the first democratic debate. >> section 1325 of that act which criminalizes comic across the border, some of us on this stage have called to end that section, some like congressman o'rourke have not. >> crossing the border is no longer a crime?
