people to understand this. the only people standing in the way of keeping the government open i senate democrats change i'm not trying to play for political points, even false ones. i am trying to get us to come together in a bipartisan nature to get something done. >> reporter: 60 votes i needed to break a filibuster on a passive short-term spending which would keep the government open for another few weeks but that won't be easy, three republicans are hard no on the bill, gop leaders will need help from 13 democrats to get this done. they have one, joe mentioned but those 12 others will be tough. last night lindsey graham, explains why he won't support another short-term spending bill. >> this is the fourth cr. anytime we have a continuing resolution it costs the military billions of dollars, we are not going to shut down or wait 30 more days. >> we could be looking at another few days before lawmakers vote on the bill and that is only if they get a deal. no sign that is going to happen. >> democrats have been dreamers to play the heartstrings of the american people but the federalist molly hemingway saying it still remains to be seen how hard democrats will fight for amnesty. idea this is an isolationist president is not true. and a vision of how the world works. we have to compete geopolitically. as this administration approaches that, places where we can compete in a robust way. >> his argument is any country, their leader should be putting the people in that country and their priorities first in the world, it makes sense. >> all leaders claim to do that. past
