ngside nature not against. >> lisa said highly unethical. >> amy writes the risks far outweigh any benefits. thanks for your responses. >> thank you for watching "fox & friends first." "fox & friends" starts now. >> bye. >> good morning. it is wednesday, february 4. i'm elisabeth hasselbeck. a busy morning here. we start with a fox news alert. payback by jordan. it executes two terrorists overnight after isis burns a jordanian pilot alive, and more executions are expected. what does this mean for the war on terror? we are live from washington with the breaking details for you. >> in another video alert for you, take a look at the video right here. that is an airplane. that is not the airport. a plane filled with passengers clips a bridge and then crashes into a river. the moment it is happening is all caught on dash cam video. amazingly, there are survivors. we've got details on this breaking story straight ahead.
>> a busy commuter train in new york packed with with hundreds crashes into an s.u.v., explodes. the latest death toll and what investigators say happened. a lot to discuss. a very busy morning. this is "fox & friends." >> it's time for "fox & friends." >> good morning. it's 6:00 here in new york city. right now to that fox news alert and our lead story. jordan executes two terrorists after promising revenge for the death of their own pilot at the hands of isis by burning alive. >> could there be more? lee land vittert is live in washington. good morning. a lot happened this morning. what can you tell us? >> certainly a lot happening. there certainly could be more executions as jordan, for their part, promised a thunderous response. they also hold a large number of al qaeda and other isis affiliated
prisoners. jordanian officials believe the pilot was burned to death shown in the video far too graphic for this program almost a month ago. isis demands to trade the pilot for this woman was nothing more than a cruel ploy. she along with another al qaeda death row inmate were executed this morning at dawn on the grounds of prison just south of the jordanian capital. the timing on the release of the tape here is critical. word of the pilot's killing came as jordan's king abdullah was on a long planned trip to the united states for discussions among other things, about the kingdom's partnership in the both campaign against isis. it quickly turned into a solidarity summit at the white house and on capitol hill the king then cut his visit short and headed home. there is a real love of the jordanian military among its people, and this certainly has the potential to backfire on isis. already there are calls ot streets of owe -- oman for
jordan to not back down despite the isis threats. >> let's bring in u.s. air force pilot and member of the house foreign foreign relations committee, congressman adam kinzinger. >> i wawpped the video yesterday. -- i watched the video yesterday. it was one of the most brutal things i've seen. it goes to show the barbaric and satanic nature of this enemy we fight. i think jordan has probably got more kind of middle east justice to come and it will be frankly kind of nice to see. >> early on you were one of the first to say we should
not be negotiating with this group in terms of trade. do you feel as though the video that has since surfaced reemphasizes your point? >> absolutely. this is a very brutal thought process a brutal group. they're probably recruiting. i don't know this scientifically but probably twice as fast as we're killing them. it is time for the united states to use our unique position to unite our allies in the middle east under one umbrella and go from what the president calls degrading and containing isis to destroying and crushing isis. this is a moment. i think this burning video, as brutal as the beheading videos were, this is one, because it's not just against somebody that we don't necessarily know this is against an allied pilot in the middle east that should have geneva convention protections. this is a moment where the president of the united states can say it is time to move beyond where we've been and to crush this cancer in the middle east and prepare the american people for the inevitability of that and some of the difficulties it
will entail. >> congressman, in addition to your points this particular pilot was a devout muslim and that changes everything. we had walid faris on with greta last night and he says the fact they have broken these conventions crosses all sorts of boundaries. listen to this. >> this is something even the most conservative, even islamist regimes have not done, to burn an individual who is muslim and a prisoner. there are no legal basis for what they have done. what they have done basically is to cross all red lines. >> the issue is what is going to happen going forward? are people going to rally around the king of jordan who is saying we've got to kill these guys or are they going to say why are we in this fight with the united states? >> i have a great respect for walid. i think people are going to rally behind jordan on this. i think this is an opportunity to unite some of these middle eastern countries that maybe haven't been united.
but the only country -- and i say this with a great deal of respect for our country because it is a great position to be in -- ours is the only country that can unite people on this mission. it doesn't mean we need the bulk of ground troops but it means we need the moral leadership to bring these countries together. i think this may be a turning point because it shows the deathly, evil brutality of this thought process and it's time to be crushed. >> congressman, you know the area and this is a pilot that died bombing and i know resonates because you're a pilot yourself. as you look at that region and see jordan is on the cusp, that 1,800 jordanians decided to go with isis and there's a lot of syrians who have gone into jordan for solace, peace and maybe terror ambitions i'm wondering how do you fight this? looking where isis is, where jordan is maybe a motivated saudi arabia with a new leadership how do you go about fighting this? is turkey going to be
involved? where's the pressure points? >> everybody is going to have to be involved. there's two issues here. number one, isis being successful is creating an impetus for people to join. anybody that's maybe felt like a loner been left out or had tendency to jihaddism now that they've seen success wants to be part of this. >> the president needs to understand this goes beyond focusing on iraq but you've got to destroy them in syria where they're breeding exploding. the assad regime is causing that to expand. it is going to take probably turkish ground troops probably jordanian ground troops and probably american ground troops embedded with them working as special ops. the president needs to prepare the american people for this inevitability. >> congressman what is your reaction? this is president obama's reaction to what occurred
yesterday. >> i think we'll redouble the vigilance and determination on the part of a global coalition to make sure that they are degraded and ultimately defeated. i think it also indicates the degree to which whatever ideology they're operating off of is bankrupt. >> is it too dismissive to refer to their ideology as bankrupt? >> i think so. and also to say you're going to redouble your determination to degrade doesn't say a whole lot. i hate to be overly critical all the time of the president especially on these issues where we should all be united in, and i appreciate that he's doing airstrikes at least, but i think it's time for the president to do some real strong moral leadership for the american people to really weigh out the fact that this is a brand of islamic jihaddism that has to be recognized for what it is and has to be crush. only the president can do that. a member of congress can talk about it but we can't have that kind of leadership as a leader of the free world is uniquely
capable of doing. it is time for him to start talking the jordanian king talks and talk about how this is going to be destroyed and not degraded. >> we've got to do something different because this is not working. congressman, thank you for joining us so early. >> now to another fox news alert for you a video like you've never seen showing the moment a transasia plane with 58 people -- look at that -- 58 people on board loses control, clips a bridge, then crashes into a river. at least 19 people on board are dead. that number could rise. the plane had just taken off from taipei's airport where the pilot reportedly yelled may day may day. engine flameout. >> the plane's fuselage half submerged in a small river. 15 people -- here's the good news -- have been pulled from the wreckage miraculously alive. >> this is the second deadly crash for transasia airways in the last six
months. 48 people died when a plane went down in the month of july. incredible picture. >> you're looking at a live image of the plane in the water as its rescue is underway. there were four children on the plane there and obviously a serious rescue effort underway. >> and quickly. >> they got out there quick. >> as the plane goes down you can see it -- next time we play it you can see it clip a taxi. it is kind of reminiscent when in the early 80's when air florida flight leaving national airport clipped that bridge and went into the potomac. >> rescue carriers trying to get more of those crash victims out. >> we have a lot of other news. we've asked ainsley to come down from the 5:00 show and help us out. >> ainsley, thank you for stepping in for me yesterday. i had mama alert at home. >> any time. i loved it. glad everything is okay at
home. i'm filling in for heather today. we have some breaking news to tell you about. this happened overnight. terror on the tracks. a commuter train packed with more than 600 people slams into a jeep exploding into a massive fireball. you can see all the black smoke that's rising from that burnout train near valhallal new york north of new york city in the westchester area. police say the driver of the jeep was trying to cross the tracks when the gates came down and hit her car. she got out to inspect the damage, she tried to get back in but didn't have enough time. a train rammed into her vehicle and she died along with six other passengers. happening today, president obama's nominee for secretary of defense heads to the hill for what could be a lengthy confirmation hearing. ash carter will face the now republican controlled senate armed services committee. much of the grilling today expected to focus on president obama's foreign policies and to see if
carter stands in line with what republicans are calling the miserable failures of the administration. a brand-new blow to obamacare. despite a veto threat, the house of representatives has voted to repeal the president's health care law and eventually replace it. the house has now voted more than 50 times in the past two years to repeal this law. the bill now heads to the senate where texas senator ted cruz introduced legislation for a full repeal. people in amish country might not have cars but they can still do doughnuts in the snow. >> i'm just going to do it again. >> check out that hot rod amish guy showing off literal horsepower while circling off impressive doughnuts in that parking lot in ohio. >> that's reminiscent of your husband on that a.t.v. in your front driveway last
year. >> thank you ainsley. >> only he used electricity and gas. >> he did. take a listen to this. that weather that put this puppy into big trouble. he fell into an icy lake. you've got to see how this risky rescue ends. oh my. >> the president's budget for green will have you seeing red. about 50 billion tax dollars bound for perhaps another solyndra. how did that work out? not so hot. ♪ >> speaking of obama, yesterday he spent a $4 trillion budget that he says will help the middle class. the middle class said how about just give us $4 trillion. we'll figure it out. we'll figure out what to do with it.

the pilot for this woman already on death row for a failed suicide bombing attempt in 2005 as nothing more than a cruel ploy. she along with another death row inmate were executed this morning at dawn on the grounds of a prison just south of the capital of oman. the timing of the release of the tape is critical. word of the pilot's killing came as king abdullah was on a planned trip to the united states for discussion, among other things about the kingdom's partnership and the bombing campaign against isis. quickly turned into a solidarity summit at the white house and on capitol hill. >> this is a warrior king. this is a man who knows the felt recoil of a rifle. there is a difference between being a commander in chief and doing a commander in chief. there is always a difference between being and doing. king abdullah is being the commander in chief ask a leader. that execution and the way it was done, the knowledge of who that pilot was and the fact that
isis continued to move forward and execute him in that manner says we're ready for this fight. and i think they've come to a man that's now willing to give it to them. >> reporter: it certainly is going to be a fight coming up with the jordanians. king abdullah cut short his visit to the united states, headed back to jordan overnight. there is a real love of the jordanian military among its people and this certainly has the potential to backfire on isis. already there are calls on the streets of ohman for jordan to increase its fight against the terrorist organization and not back down despite the threats in that video. back to you guys. >> thank you very much. leeland made a really good point and that was that the jordanians feel this guy was actually killed a month ago. on january 3. so keep in mind last week we were talk being how jordan was negotiating supposedly with isis. isis said you give up that woman, who by the way they executed last night -- you give up that woman and we'll give you back the pilot. he was already dead. then jordan said we're going to
do the deal, but we need proof of life. and then they went dark. the guy was already dead. >> right. so if they are going to do a swap, there are thankfully few hostages left. but we have our 26 over there. they have no credibility now and they actually are running out of assets. things to swap. you wonder what the big picture is. adam kinzinger joined us a short time ago and we asked him to comment on the swift response from jordan, executing two and more could be on deck to go. he's going to be responding to that. first, you have president obama talking about the enemy. king abdullah goes to visit. they get word about this killing and the president was asked to weigh in. you'll hear that followed by lieutenant colonel ralph peters. >> i think we'll redouble the vigilance and determination on the part of a global coalition to make sure that they are degraded and ultimately
defeated. that also indicates the degree to which whatever ideology they're operating off of is bankrupt. >> those terrorists are the people the president and the democrats don't even want to waterboard. it's phenomenal. and you heard with governor richardson this refusal to understand the reality on the ground. i hear so much hogwash today. admiral kirby pentagon spokesman said this is an act of desperation on the part of islamic state. no! it was a brilliant recruiting video and islamic state those guys who burned that young man alive, they're having the time of their lives. this kind of violence is captivating, exhilarating, thrilling to these guys. it's never going to get better for them than this. >> colonel ralph peters alluding to the fact that this will be used as a recruiting tool. the images we are showing you today, because that video is so gruesome and the mutilation should never have occurred.
we're limiting it to these photos because we don't want to contribute to propaganda. apparently to the pilot's wife, ran into the street after hearing about the video saying please, god, let it not be true. >> it was true. walid pharis weighed in. >> what isis has done was to trigger jordan for a reaction an overboard reaction for them to start work. i think this is basically a war that we're going to see escalating between the moderate main stream muslims around the world on one hand and we've seen it happening in jordan and egypt and libya elsewhere. but isis went beyond any limit that could have been accepted by main stream muslim. >> his theory is jordan, they want jordan in this fight. >> they're baiting them? >> yeah. they have 1800 minimum jordanians who are fighting for this. now you have a whole bunch of syrians who ran for their lives we think, into jordan because of assad trying to kill everybody.
>> and there is the map that shows what the neighborhood looks like over there. >> just picture syria and iraq and picture right through the middle of those borders that is what isis is currently occupying. >> you see turkey and wonder what role will be taken by them. >> what about the united states? what's the role going forward? what we're doing right now is not work. what's interesting about what has happened is when we first heard he was alive -- he wasn't alive, it was like why wasn't he beheaded? because that they up be the -- upping the shock value. burning somebody alive, when you watch it, it's worse than cutting somebody's head off. and so i think it will galvanize certain people over there because in addition to it being so horrific and you see the action and it's awful it's just the fact that this guy was not a western journalist. he was a devout muslim. and there also is one thing about the sunni islamic -- sunni
islamic principles that they adhere to is you don't burn somebody. in islam you do not burn somebody dead or alive and they have done this. where do we go from here? adamascenesinger, the congressman was with us an hour ago. >> it's middle east justice. this is how it's done there. and i think when you're in the middle east and you're thinking differently than we think in the west frankly this is the kind of response that says you're serious about destroying isis. i watched the video yesterday and i wouldn't suggest -- it's every person's decision, but it was one of the most brutal things i've ever seen and it just goes to show the barbarrack nature of this enemy. i think majorrer has middle east justice to come and it will be kind of nice to see. >> the president's got an opportunity now. he's got japan motivated. saudi arabia is rejiggering their leadership. they have the money and the
people. then you have the u.s. and maybe turkey will finally be motivated to act, as well as egypt offered, as well as france being motivated. if you want to lead, mr. president, this is an ideal opportunity to go in there and wipe out the modern day nazis. >> i don't see how he can do anything but that at this point. >> and no statement. >> he down plays it a bit some are arguing, by saying it's a bankrupt ideology. >> only way to do it is for people to be on the ground and he will not go along with that at this point. it's nine minutes after the top of the hour. we've got breaking news and unbelievable pictures. ainsley has them. >> a fox news alert. video like you've never seen showing the moment a transasia plane with 58 people on board loses control, clips that bridge and then crashes into the river in taiwan. at least 19 people on board that plane are now dead. there is concern that number could rise. these were live pictures now from taipai where rescue crews

there is a lot of people that need help and they need to speak up like you're doing. the director says we're not cutting any program. listen. >> there is not a proposal to cut it. i think that's a mischaracterization. as we were putting together projections for the budget, you can imagine that it's quite uncertain how many veterans will ultimately exercise that choice and use that program. so what we've done in the budget is propose flexibility that would allow the v.a. to draw from some of the $10 billion that was set aside for that program. if need, if it is not fully you'll liesed. >> have you ever heard such a filibuster? what's your take on that ridiculous definition? >> the old flexibility. we need flexibility. ultimately what they're trying to say there is we're going to make sure veterans don't get access to it and when they don't, we'll strangle, we'll

what a morning. it's a very busy one and can i say mornings are better with friends? >> i'm jeff gordon. four-time nascar champion and you're watching "fox & friends". >> jeff was with us yesterday. today we start this hour with a fox news alert. we have live team coverage of jordan's response to that brutal isis video showing one of their own pilots burned to death. kevin cork is live at the white house with the administration reaction. but we start with leeland vittert live in the dc bureau. >> reporter: good morning. there could be more executions coming from the jordanians king abdullah just arrived back. the jordanians have promised a turnedous response. they do hold a large number of al-qaeda and/or isis-affiliated prisoners. officials believe the pilot was burned to death almost a month ago. isis then put out a slickly
produced video. this is a still frame of that video showing the jordanian pilot in a cage before being lit on fire and burned alive. the video's release shows isis' demands to trade the pilot for this woman already on death row for a failed suicide bombing attempt in 2005 as nothing more than a cruel ploy. she, along with another al-qaeda death row inmate were executed this morning at dawn on the grounds of prison just south of the capital of jordan: the timing is critical. word of the pilot's killing came as jordan's king abdullah was on a planned trip to the united states for discussions, among other things about the kingdom's partnership in the bombing campaign against isis. it quickly turned moo a solidarity summit at the white house and on capitol hill. >> this is a warrior king. this is a man who knows the felt recoil of a rifle. there is a difference between being a commander in heave and doing a commander in chief. there is a difference between being and doing.

>> thank you. now we're going to turn to kevin cork, live this morning at the white house. kevin, we know there was a meeting brought together quite quickly between king abdullah and the president. how is the president responding now? >> reporter: you're exactly right. it was previously unscheduled, part of a full day for king abdullah and obviously he did make his way here to the white house. a powerful moment by all observers as the president of the united states offered con dellences on behalf of the american people. that meeting taking place inside the oval office described by a senior white house official as understandably somber. this on the heels of that unspeakable tragedy the murder of that jordanian pilot. the president says isis is only interested in death and destruction. >> it's just one more indication that shows the barghoutiity of this -- barbarity of this organization. i think it will redouble the
vigilance and determination on the part of a global coalition to make sure that they are degraded and ultimately defeated. it also indicates the degree to which whatever ideology they're operating off of it's bankrupt. >> reporter: the president obviously exchanging words with the king of jordan. the two men vowing to remain strong in the face of evil. >> thanks, kevin. >> so listen, there was a time in which -- there is a lotter lot of times where timing works out. king abdullah there at the time with the president. i actually believe and i think other experts say that they killed him on january 3, but we're waiting on king abdullah to go to america which is important for others. the president of the united states you hope would stand up and willing to take action. can we find out what the other
countries are doing? can we find out the ultimate goal if we have been making progress? can we see some of that? the big story this morning was the reaction from jordan. real quick, they hanged two terrorists that they had in their prison. adam kinzinger, who fights these wars weighed in on those events. >> it's middle east justice. this is how it's done there. i think when you're in the middle east and you're thinking differently than we think in the west frankly, this is the kind of response that says you're serious about destroying isis. i watched the video yesterday by the way. i wouldn't suggest -- it's every person's decision, but it was one of the most brutal things i've ever seen and it goes to show the barbaric and frankly satanic nature of this enemy that we fight. look, i think jordan's probably got more middle east justice to come and it will be frankly kind of nice to see -- >> one of the things about jordan, last week they were negotiating with isis, they
thought. they were under the assumption that the japanese fellow the hostage and the pilot were still alive because they said yeah they're alive. the pilot was burned to death on january 3, the jordanians say. so everything that happened last week was just a sham. this video right here where they douse that guy's clothes in gasoline and then light him on fire is the most disgusting thing i have ever seen in my life. >> you're not the only one, steve. seal team six, rob o'neill, said it was the most vicious thing he's ever seen and he can't think about anything else. how horrific. >> right now there is an opening, a lot of motivated people from japan france, now to jordan to help us out. what exactly is the method to the madness of isis? is there one? walid phares weighed in. >> i am exploring the possibility that what isis has
done was to trigger jordan for a reaction, an overboard reaction for them to start working inside. i think is basically a war that we're going to see escalating between the moderate mainstream muslims around the world on one hand and we've seen it happening in jordan and egypt and libya, elsewhere. but isis went beyond any limit that could have been accepted by mainteam muslims. >> one of the reasons why is this was not a western journalist who was executed. this was a devout muslim who was killed by isis. the question is, will jordan rally behind the king during this national time of tragedy there, or are they going to say, what are we doing helping the united states? we shouldn't northbound there because when we send people over there, this happens to them. >> one thing they're getting beat. >> one thing about the terrorist, they always overplay their hand. czar coo wee did. bin laden overdid it. he got kicked out and he was enemy number one of saudi arabia. and when you saw how brutal

what's that thing? i moved our old security system out here to see if it could monitor the front yard. why don't you switch to xfinity home? i get live video monitoring and 24/7 professional monitoring that i can arm and disarm from anywhere. hear ye! the awkward teenage one has arrived!!!! don't be old fashioned. xfinity customers add xfinity home for $29.95 a month for 12 months. plus for a limited time, get a free security camera call 1800 xfinity or visit comcast.com/xfinityhome.
we've got quick headlines for you from capitol hill. in just over a half hour, secretary of defense nominee ash carter heads to the hill for what could be a lengthy confirmation hearing. much of the grilling expected to focus on the president's strategy or lack of strategy regarding isis. congress once again taking aim at the washington redskins name. california democrat mike honda introduce ago bill that would strip the team of the right to the redskins trademark.
the u.s. patent and trademark office canceled six of their trademarks. but they remain intact while the redskins appeal. and illegal immigrants will not only get amnesty but now the irs will offer them extra tax refunds. illegals who have official social security numbers, will be able to go back and claim tax refunds for money they earned while working illegally. the payout expected to be in the billions. only in america. in february, 1969, this woman played a role in a bombing in a jerusalem market that killed two young students. she was convicted in an israeli court and sentenced to life in prison. soon after she was released and lied on her immigration papers in order to enter the united states. now she's facing deportation for immigration fraud. and that's not stopping a group of students at depaul university in chicago from
trying to save her. joining us now is rabbi winberg, the executive director of the metro chicago alil. last night he led a vigil for the two people killed by her as a way to protest a fund-raiser being held in her honor. rabbi, these college kids are rallying around a killer right? >> some college students in this country are -- yes, they've reallilied around her, painting her as a victim, when in fact, she is a convicted killer who was found guilty of lying on her u.s. immigration papers by a federal jury just recently. and my students at deball were disturbed by this event happening on a college campus and they wanted to find a way to respond. the organization that i work with is metro chicago hilal. we serve thousands of jewish students across chicago on different campuses, including depaul. when they approached me and said we need to do something, in talking it through, we realized
that a vigil to honor the victims of the terrorist attack in 1969 was the appropriate response to honor the victims and not the terrorist. our mission is to inspire jewish students to make a commitment to jewish life in israel. so that's what we did last night. >> essentially by having this vigil and supporting this woman that got exchanged in a prisoner swap or else she'd still be in prison. she lied on her papers. she did kill people no one can say anything about that. but essentially these students in protesting are saying it's okay to kill israelis. >> yes. for me it's a very disturbing development on college campuses. we've seen a fair bit of anti-israel activity by this group, students for justice in palestine, for the last few years, including attempts to boycott -- attempts to encourage universities to boycott and divest from israel. those attempts have largely lacked institutional support
which is good. but now we're seeing the line between nonviolence and violence is being blurred. they're celebrating somebody who killed israeli civilians. >> it's unbelievable. they say well, what do you want? she's a victim of zionist oppression. hard to believe that could be taught or somehow that could be the motto on a college campus today. >> you know, universities are places where we encounter ideas that are unslinging and disturbing and universities take freedom of speech very seriously. it might be the single most important value of university life. so we exercise our right to free speech at a vigil to honor the victims. >> nonviolence. but you got your message across. rabbi, thanks so much. >> thank you. five minutes before the top of the hour. straight ahead the "fox & friends" family is growing. meet the newest and cutest member of our crew.

now. >> she's producing our one for the road. >> we love you. we're so happy for you guys. he is so adorable. wow. >> congratulations. now the fun starts. >> see you tomorrow, everybody. thanks for watching. bill: there has been swifts and lethal retribution from jordan after isis cages and burns an air force pilot alive. what is next? i'm bill hemmer. martha: i'm martha maccallum. good morning. terrible stormy as isis terrorists release a brute allan elaborate -- a brutal and elaborate video showing this jordanian pilot led through the desert. placed into
