[laughter] look, if you're my of the other candidates, and i did see, you know, some people were -- i think ron desantis the sat next to the governor of iowa in the stands, and donald trump's reception was just incomparable. you'd have to be intimidated by, you know, that kind of reception if you're on -- and it shows in the polls. i mean, you don't -- obviously, he draws these kinds of crowds, but the poll numbers show it all. pete: it's an impossible task. running against a rock star, against a celebrity, against a movement if at this point. it's only grown and gathered. so the contrast is never going to be fair because the fight isn't fair. rachel: can i say it's not just about donald trump anymore, it's bigger than donald trump because of what was done to donald trump both in the last election and through the last four impeachments. will: i brought up, you could hear in that one clip boos. this is some online fight about what the reception was. what it reflects about, what would the outcome be of a general election. there's no doubt, and the fact that some people are inspired to hate donald trump is not news. he's clearly someone who evokes emotions. but the point, i think, from this is also clearly inspires love. pete: he does. and imagine those frat boys, boys who are going to have to clean up the house. the president is coming. [laughter] rachel: president is coming. pick up the beer cans -- will: honestly, not many politicians that you're going to find this -- rachel: no. or even cool, young frat kids -- pete: most frat boys are, like, a politician's coming -- rachel: come on, right in. pete: no. we're not going to sit nicely in a semicircle and clap like, you know, that just -- it's an, like i said, an impossible task. everyone's bored. not in this case. rachel: it's two parts, right? it's part celebrity, as you said, and i think it is part that he is now a symbol of a resistance to the left, the deep state, globalism. people feel like -- pete: you think they're thinking about globalism? [laughter] rachel: they're not, but i promise you their parents in the stands are. they're thinking if donald trump doesn't win, what does that mean for america. pete: yeah. and, by the way, iowa went on to win the game 20 the-13 in that matchup -- 20-13. rachel: does it matter what side you're on? if where did he sit? will: those were iowa state frat houses. pete: the game was at iowa state, iowa ended up winning the game. and so there you have it. we'll move on to to new mexico where we reported on weed the fact that the governor this basically just stood up and said your constitutional rights are about to be suspended as it pertains to carrying guns because i'm declaring an emergency because there's been gun violence in albuquerque. she made a staggering statement about the sweeping lengths of her powers. basically, she doesn't have to follow her oath, she doesn't have to follow the second amendment. here's a part of what the governor of new mexico, michelle driven sham -- grisham, said yesterday. on friday if, watch. >> we're suspending open and concealed carry. the purpose is to try to create a cooling-off period while we figure out how we can better address public safety and gun violence. i think it's time to talk about the absoluteness of the discussion and the current court actions that suggest that the the second amendment is an absolute right and none of the others are. if there's an emergency, and i've declared an emergency for a temporary amount of time, i can invoke additional powers. no constitutional right, in my view -- including my oath -- is intended to be absolute. will: i mean, weed we read you that -- we read you that. i think you immediate to see that. rachel: i saw it, so you're right. we read it, i was trying to process it, then i saw it after the show. it hit me. and i think that's why you see people like this state senator from new mexico, stephanie lord, calling for impeachment. i'm calling on counsel to begin the impeachment process against governor grisham. this is an abhorrent attempt on pushing an agenda, and she's supposed to be protecting and defending the rights of new mexico. she can't just raise her hand and say i promise to uphold this oath and poms to protect the people of new mexico and the constitution and then one day decide, oh, just kidding. i do think this is like where she has to be impeached because this message has to be sent. i think this is a trial balloon. will: is it a trial balloon? it is the, i think, a revelation. i do think many progressive politicians believe exactly what it is she's saying. if her word and emergency declaration is enough to drive policy, there's another word for that, authoritarianism. rachel: exactly. will: under the ban or of emergency. it doesn't matter how many niceties it's dressed up in, this is about as ugly as it gets. that right there is the spirit that ends america. rachel: exactly. it's existential. pete: the constitution is the problem, this her mind. and, therefore, can be us. pended if necessary. there's also this belief that's long held on the left that for some reason the second amendment is this, is seen as absolute whereas the others are not, so they want to keep chipping away at it until they can get rid of it. rachel: or is it that there's something about the second amendment that keeps them in check, right? and so -- and you look at every other country that has fallen to authoritarianism, the first thing they do is take away guns. so that's why. pete: another interesting angle is there are democrats, partisan democrats in many cases, who have come out and said this is way too far. one of them is representative ted lou, democrat are from california, said on x: i support gun safety laws, however, this violates the u.s. constitution. no state in the if union can suspend the federal constitution. there is no such thing as a state public health emergency except to the u.s. constitution. rachel: pete, even david hogg -- pete: i saw that. will: really in. pete: he said this is too far, unconstitutional. will: oh, wow. david hog item g, the gun control activist, one of the teenagers from the -- rachel: shooting in florida. will: marjorie taylor greene -- the. rachel: they definitely didn't name it that. will: marjory stoneman douglas high school. vivek ramaswamy said the second amendment is not a recommendation, it's a right. >> the second amendment is the one amendment that gives meaning to to all the other ones. china, iran, they all offer the other freedoms in the bill of rights on paper. but they don't offer them in practice, or because they don't have a second amendment. so i actually wrote something today to the governor of new mexico who, many virtue signaling, has adopted this 30-day ban of any firearms around certain cities. the second amendment, as i told her, is not a recommendation. it is a right. pete: he's exactly right. rachel: david hogg right now is really mad. >> well, first of all, we have an epidemic in new york as well. so much of our resources from the northern border, which is a huge part of my district as well as in upstate new york, were diverted to help9 with the crisis on the southern border which left a lot of openings, but also the incentives created by governor kathy hochul by putting a billion dollars in new taxes and now asking for even more money to put into these resources. and now you have also kathy hochul issues driver's licenses to anyone that comes into new york, no questions asked. so once the cartels are able to ship people from mexico into canada, there's no visa, they get across the border, they get a driver's license, and they basically can go anywhere in the united states with this valid new york driver's license. and when we conothing about it. -- do nothing about it. they're saying, oh, it's just the southern triangle. as you pointed out, will, 76 countries that we know of, 61000 apprehensions that we know of -- 61000 -- all kinds of people are going free because we don't have the resources to stop them. so when governor hochul goes to joe biden and he tells the governor of the fourth largest state, oh, we don't have time for you with this crisis in new york city, they keep blaming governor abbott. new -- but this is really the federal government and kathy hochul's problem. will: explain to me, if you could, the path of migration. it's ease i to understand what's happening at our southern border whether they're coming from south america, central america, they fly into mexico, wherever it may be, and hen cross over into texas, california or arizona. what's happening along our canadian border? what's the path of migration for who from where? >> well, they're from everywhere. 76 duns -- countries, as you cited, that we know of. remember, these cartels are controlling our border. billions of dollars are being made, even more on human trafficking than is being made on smuggling drugs and illicit fentanyl. those things are here as well and in terrible numbers devastating our communities, especially our youth. but what happens is you can get in a commercial flight, they can wrap up drugs even in a commercial airliner. the flight goes through mexico into canada. again, as i said, there is no visa requirement between mexico and canada. the cartel gets you to the border, you go across the border, and they take care of you with a new york state driver's license. and, oh, by the way, we're moving people into dorm rooms. they didn't want to leave. we had students that had to wait for illegal immigrants to be evicted from dorm rooms. this is a real crisis. it is a total lack are of respect for the taxpayers of new york. and it also undermines citizenship which we all value so much in a country like ours. will: it's getting visible. i will tell you anecdotally, i saw it yesterday in new york. clearly, a group of illegal immigrants sitting here and not -- and somewhat interacting, you know, rudely with the citizens of new york as they walk up and down the a street. it's not hidden, it's not in the dark corners. this is something that is on the streets and in the everyday walk of life for people as a far north as new york. now, you and others in congress are looking to do something about it. there's been i attempts, discussions about impeaching alejandro mayorkas, but you're pursuing using the holdman act to reduce his salary to $1. tell us about that effort. >> yeah. well, i want to do something symbolically. obviously, we'd love to impeach and remove mayorkas for his dereliction of duty and complete destruction of our country really with this illegal mass migration. but, yeah, under the holman rule, we can in the appropriations process defund a program or bring salaries down to a dollar in certain areas. so in the homeland security appropriations side of it, we have an amendment joined by several other members with me to bring secretary mayorkas' salary down to $is -- 1. he certainly deserves to be impeached, but we're doing this so that we send a message to the biden administration. we aren't going to take this anymore. we're going to stand the up and defund anywhere we can. it's the power that we have under the power of the purse, a unique power granted to the house of representatives, ask we're going to exercise that and, hopefully, get some senators to go along with it. we want to send a message that this is serious. we are hurting americans, we are undermining our security, we're undermining the wealth of our country. our local, state governments and taxpayers are are being forced to pay for all of this. they're paying for things they can't afford ask not to mention high cost of gas and everything else. will: congress congresswoman ya tenny, thank you for getting up with us, we'll be following the effort. thank you. >> thank you so much. will: a stop u.s. general putting veterans and service members on alert as china targets them to, quote, fill gaps in their military. a national security warning mmnext. we need poligrip before crispy popcorn. >> hi, rachel, it's great to be on again. yeah. last time i saw you, i was on set with you which was fantastic, and we were talking about the chinese spy balloons, and here we are now talking about the latest effort by the chinese to undermine america. yeah, what the chinese are doing, they're using commercial cover platforms. they have reportedly what are just, you know, businesses, and then they go out and they find on linkedin and other social media societies and what not, they figure out -- sites and what not, they figure out who has skills they're looking for, veterans or currently in the military x then they reach out out to them and ask them to, you know, be ooh con soul -- be a consultant or help with training. it's very concerning. rachel: yeah. a few years ago there was a huge data, you know, they stole people with classified status in the military and in the government, so i'm sure they're using that as a well to try and recruit. but what about when we train military from other countries? are they also recruiting those people who we've now given those skill sets to? >> you know, i'm out of government now and i don't see all the intelligence reporting, but i think you bring with up a really good point. that's something that i'm sure they're exploiting. i really hope that a we have used, found out about what they're doing, clearly we found that out based on general brown's memo that he sent out to the force. hopefully we're sending back a lot of disinformation and playing it back against them the, i would hope. that's usually how this works. but, you know, you never know with this administration. rachel: is, obviously, this is a treasonous act in my opinion, you know in you can't give our information, the technological skills you gain from our u.s. military and then use it to help our greatest enemy, china. so tell me about the role of patriotism here. how important is it that we as a nation, you know, instill patriotism especially in our military so that we we don't have this situation? >>s it is. and it also covers the instance where both parents actually do not want to affirm, both are conservative. people aren't talking about this, and this is a steady assault on family and children that we've been seeing this legislative session and throughout the past couple of years in california. if both parents are conservative and they are not comfortable i a firming their child, what does that mean? both will be yeptizing the the child's health, safety and welfare, that's the term of art that's used in the bill. does that mean that the state will find both are endangering, neglecting or abusing their child and remove custody from both parents in and if no one is available to step up and take custody of the child, that's how it becomes a ward of the state. people need to pay anticipation to what's happening here in california. pete: wow. i hadn't thought of that possibility. >> exactly. pete: jonathan, your take on what this means. this seems like a very big, formal next step by the state to say what's acceptable in parenting. >> well, yeah. it is a big next step, and that's why this is so controversial. and why there's a lot of attention given to it. it's unfortunate that we're in this situation, but divorce and these situations are already really complicated situations, and when you introduce this, it's going to make it even more complicated. we really don't know what this means in the end, you know? a parent, ultimately, will have to affirm whatever their child says and wants in this regard or else risk losing custody, and that's a horrible decision for a parent to be in, especially in the muddle of -- the. pete: i can't imagine. i really can't imagine. so a marriage has dissolved and there's a dispute over parenting time anyway, and now it comes down to what's your belief on whether or not johnny is actually jane, and then you may not get a time or custody at all. here's what the california state assembly member lori wilson, she introduced the bill. the bill's called the tgi which stands for transgender, gender-diverse and intersex youth empowerment. here's a portion. here's how she described the bill. >> i would like to note that parents affirm their children. they have since the dawn of time. although it's called the t g.i. bill, they're not mentioned anywhere in the law. what's mentioned in the law is the child's gender identity and expression and the parent's affirmation of that, whatever it is, because that is our duty as parents, to affirm our children. pete: so is that your duty as a parent, nicole, to affirm your children no matter what? >> i mean, i think we should absolutely, you know? they 14, 12 want to start driving and they are confident in their ability to drive? we should be affirming that. they want to drink a little bit? what's the number anyway, 221, 18, 17, 10? assemblywoman lori wilson, scott wiener, who doesn't have any children, all of these assembly people, they don't even know what they're talking about. they don't even have children. lori wilson helped her child transition and apparently has a success story with that. they do not get to legislate their unique personal experiences to the rest of the masses. there are over 9 million children in the tate of california -- state of california. what this says is that every single one of them who's going through a divorce, whose parents are fighting over them, whose entire world is crumbling, their entire identity is crumbling, that we as parents have to affirm that confusion. gender identity especially in this -- or gender confusion especially in this context is a cry for help. it's a manifestation of stress, anxiety, depression, a whole host, a slew of other psychological and mental, emotional distress that these children are suffering. and for them to tell them affirm or lose your child, it's uni constitutional, it's illegal and it's actually dangerous because it will force parents to look away and not consider other therapies that would child might need. it's dangerous and and unconstitutional, and we will -- pete: well said. jonathan, we're almost out of time. i know you guys are focused on california, rightfully so, but do you feel this is the kind of thing that could be exported elsewheresome many. >> oh, absolutely. yeah. especially california's become a trans-trafficking state or sanctuary state. so what happens in california will not stay in california. there's efforts that we're trying to do to help mitigate some of these efforts through some initiatives, and in particular the protect children from reproductive harm act, and you can learn more at protect kids ca.com. pete: protect kids ca.com. nicole and jonathan, thank you for your time. >> thank you for having us. >> thank you. pete: great to see you. all right. i'm going to toss it over to rachel for some headlines. look out for tgi, that's a new acronym. it's coming. rachel: well, and, by the way, it is now -- the issue you're talking about in california, is in rhode island as well. it's already being exported out of california. pete: there you go. rachel: important topic. frightening. thank you so much, pete. turning now to your headlines, new photos of the convict killer who escaped a pennsylvania prison more than a week ago have been released. officials say he is clean shaven and wearing a green jacket after he was spotted yesterday. at least 400 officers are involved in the search for the suspected killer who was confirmed seen twice in two draws including one man who spotted him in his home. >> i went back over to my wife's side of the bed, i said, hey, i think there might be somebody inside. that was the acute moment of terror. i turned to my wife, i said, it's him, call 911, he's in the house. rachel: he flicked the light switch, and then the killer flicked the light switch back. oh, my god, so a scary. authorities say their search efforts will continue this morning. the irs announcing a new plan to hold some of its wealthier filers accountable. the agency says it's going to aggressively hunt down at least 1600 millionaires and 75 large business partnerships that they say consistently cut corners on their taxes. the agency also plans to hire more agents as well as employ new a.i. tools that can detect tax-cheating tactics. expect those tactics to be deployed on everyone. to tennis. with the u.s. open women's final happening last night, coco gauff looking to capture her first major championship. watch. [laughter] look, if you're my of the other candidates, and i did see, you know, some people were -- i think ron desantis the sat next to the governor of iowa in the stands, and donald trump's reception was just incomparable. you'd have to be intimidated by, you know, that kind of reception if you're on -- and it shows in the polls. i mean, you don't -- obviously, he draws these kinds of crowds, but the poll numbers show it all. pete: it's an impossible task. running against a rock star, against a celebrity, against a movement if at this point. it's only grown and gathered. so the contrast is never going to be fair because the fight isn't fair. rachel: can i say it's not just about donald trump anymore, it's bigger than donald trump because of what was done to donald trump both in the last election and through the last four impeachments. will: i brought up, you could hear in that one clip boos. this is some online fight about what the reception was. what it reflects about, what would the outcome be of a general election. there's no doubt, and the fact that some people are inspired to hate donald trump is not news. he's clearly someone who evokes emotions. but the point, i think, from this is also clearly inspires love. pete: he does. and imagine those frat boys, boys who are going to have to clean up the house. the president is coming. [laughter] rachel: president is coming. pick up the beer cans -- will: honestly, not many politicians that you're going to find this -- rachel: no. or even cool, young frat kids -- pete: most frat boys are, like, a politician's coming -- rachel: come on, right in. pete: no. we're not going to sit nicely in a semicircle and clap like, you know, that just -- it's an, like i said, an impossible task. everyone's bored. not in this case. rachel: it's two parts, right? it's part celebrity, as you said, and i think it is part that he is now a symbol of a resistance to the left, the deep state, globalism. people feel like -- pete: you think they're thinking about globalism? [laughter] rachel: they're not, but i promise you their parents in the stands are. they're thinking if donald trump doesn't win, what does that mean for america. pete: yeah. and, by the way, iowa went on to win the game 20 the-13 in that matchup -- 20-13. rachel: does it matter what side you're on? if where did he sit? will: those were iowa state frat houses. pete: the game was at iowa state, iowa ended up winning the game. and so there you have it. we'll move on to to new mexico where we reported on weed the fact that the governor this basically just stood up and said your constitutional rights are about to be suspended as it pertains to carrying guns because i'm declaring an emergency because there's been gun violence in albuquerque. she made a staggering statement about the sweeping lengths of her powers. basically, she doesn't have to follow her oath, she doesn't have to follow the second amendment. here's a part of what the governor of new mexico, michelle driven sham -- grisham, said yesterday. on friday if, watch. >> we're suspending open and concealed carry. the purpose is to try to create a cooling-off period while we figure out how we can better address public safety and gun violence. i think it's time to talk about the absoluteness of the discussion and the current court actions that suggest that the the second amendment is an absolute right and none of the others are. if there's an emergency, and i've declared an emergency for a temporary amount of time, i can invoke additional powers. no constitutional right, in my view -- including my oath -- is intended to be absolute. will: i mean, weed we read you that -- we read you that. i think you immediate to see that. rachel: i saw it, so you're right. we read it, i was trying to process it, then i saw it after the show. it hit me. and i think that's why you see people like this state senator from new mexico, stephanie lord, calling for impeachment. i'm calling on counsel to begin the impeachment process against governor grisham. this is an abhorrent attempt on pushing an agenda, and she's supposed to be protecting and defending the rights of new mexico. she can't just raise her hand and say i promise to uphold this oath and poms to protect the people of new mexico and the constitution and then one day decide, oh, just kidding. i do think this is like where she has to be impeached because this message has to be sent. i think this is a trial balloon. will: is it a trial balloon? it is the, i think, a revelation. i do think many progressive politicians believe exactly what it is she's saying. if her word and emergency declaration is enough to drive policy, there's another word for that, authoritarianism. rachel: exactly. will: under the ban or of emergency. it doesn't matter how many niceties it's dressed up in, this is about as ugly as it gets. that right there is the spirit that ends america. rachel: exactly. it's existential. pete: the constitution is the problem, this her mind. and, therefore, can be us. pended if necessary. there's also this belief that's long held on the left that for some reason the second amendment is this, is seen as absolute whereas the others are not, so they want to keep chipping away at it until they can get rid of it. rachel: or is it that there's something about the second amendment that keeps them in check, right? and so -- and you look at every other country that has fallen to authoritarianism, the first thing they do is take away guns. so that's why. pete: another interesting angle is there are democrats, partisan democrats in many cases, who have come out and said this is way too far. one of them is representative ted lou, democrat are from california, said on x: i support gun safety laws, however, this violates the u.s. constitution. no state in the if union can suspend the federal constitution. there is no such thing as a state public health emergency except to the u.s. constitution. rachel: pete, even david hogg -- pete: i saw that. will: really in. pete: he said this is too far, unconstitutional. will: oh, wow. david hog item g, the gun control activist, one of the teenagers from the -- rachel: shooting in florida. will: marjorie taylor greene -- the. rachel: they definitely didn't name it that. will: marjory stoneman douglas high school. vivek ramaswamy said the second amendment is not a recommendation, it's a right. >> the second amendment is the one amendment that gives meaning to to all the other ones. china, iran, they all offer the other freedoms in the bill of rights on paper. but they don't offer them in practice, or because they don't have a second amendment. so i actually wrote something today to the governor of new mexico who, many virtue signaling, has adopted this 30-day ban of any firearms around certain cities. the second amendment, as i told her, is not a recommendation. it is a right. pete: he's exactly right. rachel: david hogg right now is really mad. >> well, first of all, we have an epidemic in new york as well. so much of our resources from the northern border, which is a huge part of my district as well as in upstate new york, were diverted to help9 with the crisis on the southern border which left a lot of openings, but also the incentives created by governor kathy hochul by putting a billion dollars in new taxes and now asking for even more money to put into these resources. and now you have also kathy hochul issues driver's licenses to anyone that comes into new york, no questions asked. so once the cartels are able to ship people from mexico into canada, there's no visa, they get across the border, they get a driver's license, and they basically can go anywhere in the united states with this valid new york driver's license. and when we conothing about it. -- do nothing about it. they're saying, oh, it's just the southern triangle. as you pointed out, will, 76 countries that we know of, 61000 apprehensions that we know of -- 61000 -- all kinds of people are going free because we don't have the resources to stop them. so when governor hochul goes to joe biden and he tells the governor of the fourth largest state, oh, we don't have time for you with this crisis in new york city, they keep blaming governor abbott. new -- but this is really the federal government and kathy hochul's problem. will: explain to me, if you could, the path of migration. it's ease i to understand what's happening at our southern border whether they're coming from south america, central america, they fly into mexico, wherever it may be, and hen cross over into texas, california or arizona. what's happening along our canadian border? what's the path of migration for who from where? >> well, they're from everywhere. 76 duns -- countries, as you cited, that we know of. remember, these cartels are controlling our border. billions of dollars are being made, even more on human trafficking than is being made on smuggling drugs and illicit fentanyl. those things are here as well and in terrible numbers devastating our communities, especially our youth. but what happens is you can get in a commercial flight, they can wrap up drugs even in a commercial airliner. the flight goes through mexico into canada. again, as i said, there is no visa requirement between mexico and canada. the cartel gets you to the border, you go across the border, and they take care of you with a new york state driver's license. and, oh, by the way, we're moving people into dorm rooms. they didn't want to leave. we had students that had to wait for illegal immigrants to be evicted from dorm rooms. this is a real crisis. it is a total lack are of respect for the taxpayers of new york. and it also undermines citizenship which we all value so much in a country like ours. will: it's getting visible. i will tell you anecdotally, i saw it yesterday in new york. clearly, a group of illegal immigrants sitting here and not -- and somewhat interacting, you know, rudely with the citizens of new york as they walk up and down the a street. it's not hidden, it's not in the dark corners. this is something that is on the streets and in the everyday walk of life for people as a far north as new york. now, you and others in congress are looking to do something about it. there's been i attempts, discussions about impeaching alejandro mayorkas, but you're pursuing using the holdman act to reduce his salary to $1. tell us about that effort. >> yeah. well, i want to do something symbolically. obviously, we'd love to impeach and remove mayorkas for his dereliction of duty and complete destruction of our country really with this illegal mass migration. but, yeah, under the holman rule, we can in the appropriations process defund a program or bring salaries down to a dollar in certain areas. so in the homeland security appropriations side of it, we have an amendment joined by several other members with me to bring secretary mayorkas' salary down to $is -- 1. he certainly deserves to be impeached, but we're doing this so that we send a message to the biden administration. we aren't going to take this anymore. we're going to stand the up and defund anywhere we can. it's the power that we have under the power of the purse, a unique power granted to the house of representatives, ask we're going to exercise that and, hopefully, get some senators to go along with it. we want to send a message that this is serious. we are hurting americans, we are undermining our security, we're undermining the wealth of our country. our local, state governments and taxpayers are are being forced to pay for all of this. they're paying for things they can't afford ask not to mention high cost of gas and everything else. will: congress congresswoman ya tenny, thank you for getting up with us, we'll be following the effort. thank you. >> thank you so much. will: a stop u.s. general putting veterans and service members on alert as china targets them to, quote, fill gaps in their military. a national security warning mmnext. we need poligrip before crispy popcorn. >> hi, rachel, it's great to be on again. yeah. last time i saw you, i was on set with you which was fantastic, and we were talking about the chinese spy balloons, and here we are now talking about the latest effort by the chinese to undermine america. yeah, what the chinese are doing, they're using commercial cover platforms. they have reportedly what are just, you know, businesses, and then they go out and they find on linkedin and other social media societies and what not, they figure out -- sites and what not, they figure out who has skills they're looking for, veterans or currently in the military x then they reach out out to them and ask them to, you know, be ooh con soul -- be a consultant or help with training. it's very concerning. rachel: yeah. a few years ago there was a huge data, you know, they stole people with classified status in the military and in the government, so i'm sure they're using that as a well to try and recruit. but what about when we train military from other countries? are they also recruiting those people who we've now given those skill sets to? >> you know, i'm out of government now and i don't see all the intelligence reporting, but i think you bring with up a really good point. that's something that i'm sure they're exploiting. i really hope that a we have used, found out about what they're doing, clearly we found that out based on general brown's memo that he sent out to the force. hopefully we're sending back a lot of disinformation and playing it back against them the, i would hope. that's usually how this works. but, you know, you never know with this administration. rachel: is, obviously, this is a treasonous act in my opinion, you know in you can't give our information, the technological skills you gain from our u.s. military and then use it to help our greatest enemy, china. so tell me about the role of patriotism here. how important is it that we as a nation, you know, instill patriotism especially in our military so that we we don't have this situation? >>s it is. and it also covers the instance where both parents actually do not want to affirm, both are conservative. people aren't talking about this, and this is a steady assault on family and children that we've been seeing this legislative session and throughout the past couple of years in california. if both parents are conservative and they are not comfortable i a firming their child, what does that mean? both will be yeptizing the the child's health, safety and welfare, that's the term of art that's used in the bill. does that mean that the state will find both are endangering, neglecting or abusing their child and remove custody from both parents in and if no one is available to step up and take custody of the child, that's how it becomes a ward of the state. people need to pay anticipation to what's happening here in california. pete: wow. i hadn't thought of that possibility. >> exactly. pete: jonathan, your take on what this means. this seems like a very big, formal next step by the state to say what's acceptable in parenting. >> well, yeah. it is a big next step, and that's why this is so controversial. and why there's a lot of attention given to it. it's unfortunate that we're in this situation, but divorce and these situations are already really complicated situations, and when you introduce this, it's going to make it even more complicated. we really don't know what this means in the end, you know? a parent, ultimately, will have to affirm whatever their child says and wants in this regard or else risk losing custody, and that's a horrible decision for a parent to be in, especially in the muddle of -- the. pete: i can't imagine. i really can't imagine. so a marriage has dissolved and there's a dispute over parenting time anyway, and now it comes down to what's your belief on whether or not johnny is actually jane, and then you may not get a time or custody at all. here's what the california state assembly member lori wilson, she introduced the bill. the bill's called the tgi which stands for transgender, gender-diverse and intersex youth empowerment. here's a portion. here's how she described the bill. >> i would like to note that parents affirm their children. they have since the dawn of time. although it's called the t g.i. bill, they're not mentioned anywhere in the law. what's mentioned in the law is the child's gender identity and expression and the parent's affirmation of that, whatever it is, because that is our duty as parents, to affirm our children. pete: so is that your duty as a parent, nicole, to affirm your children no matter what? >> i mean, i think we should absolutely, you know? they 14, 12 want to start driving and they are confident in their ability to drive? we should be affirming that. they want to drink a little bit? what's the number anyway, 221, 18, 17, 10?
