continues to unfold in real-time. griff jenkins joins us live in eagle pass with the latest. griff, good morning. >> reporter: hey, pete. good morning. you're right, it does continue. and what's just quite stunning about it, is it's continuing at unprecedented levels, no one has probably ever seen in their inprofessional careers. you can see the migrants in our shot are going downriver, southbound, looking for a hole, pete, to get through the razor wire miles of dense, dangerous razor wires that have been put here by the state of texas to try to deter the migrants, part of texas governor abbott's operation lone star but it's not working, they're still coming and they'll find a spot and crawl through there. meanwhile, under mayorkas, secretary dhs, he visited the border but not here, where it's ground zero, over in the rio grande valley, in mcallen. i can show you pics of his visits, he was talking to agents with the president of honduras, president castro you see here, no new announcements on efforts to try to get this under control. meanwhile, here in this area, as we're watching these migrants get through the wire, we saw yesterday -- i want to show you video of the border patrol agents cutting through the wire, migrants getting through there. that was a big moment because about four hours it was a standoff, ultimately the migrants did get through and were brought into custody and finally i'll leave you with this is over in el paso fair feeling the strain, the mayor said they've reached, essentially, quote a breaking point. pete, back to you. pete: thank you for that reporting, mayorkas called it extraordinary. i'm not sure what he thinks is extraordinary about what's going on down there. thank you. a new poll shows 62% of voters disapprove of joe biden's handling had of the border. that's a washington post, abc poll. our next guest has covered the crisis firsthand. here to react, sunday morning futures anchor maria bartiromo. you saw the report from griff. you look at the numbers. it's a real political liability. when we've also shown the numbers, maria, of donald trump up 52 to 42 in that poll, a 10 point lead right now. maria: that's right, pete. good morning to you. trump continues to surge ahead of the election because everybody knows that his policies worked. and the democrats and the media, they do not want to admit it but the fact is, that under donald trump border crossings were at a 20-year low. we are now at a 40-year high. what took place this week in el paso as well as eagle pass was truly extraordinary. i don't know if you have pictures from wednesday and thursday, pete, but on thursday you had 10,000 migrants coming in, getting encountered in a single day. 10,000 in a single day. for the last several years, we've been averaging 6, 7, 8,000 a day. we are back up to the highs of 10,000 a day. it's absolutely extraordinary and incredibly shameful that the administration and the legacy media will not admit what's taking place. this if anything looks like an invasion at our southern border. this is one common place where the republicans are, in other words, this is one area that there is common ground among republicans that they agree something needs to be done. that's why there was a budget deal on the table a week ago that was negotiated by byron donalds and chip roy and scott perry and they came up with a continuing resolution plan that would fund the government for 30 days while they could work on appropriations bills, the others that are not done yet but the one issue in that, that they were hoping to get, was no more money to allow migrants coming in and getting processed. they either have to keep them at the border or send them back and unfortunately a small group of disrupters disrupted that deal. and that is why we will likely see a government shutdown one week from today. this border is an embarrassment. the entire world is watching. and embedded in all of these numbers are people coming through the border are the chinese nationals where xi jinping is apparently sending military age men into america to get in through the border and many people believe that is so they can become sabatours once xi jinping gives them the direction. this is obvious what's going on with china and this administration is doing nothing about it. we're talking about it this morning. we are talking with congressman jim jordan, the chairman of the house judiciary committee, after that incredible hearing from merrick garland last week. we'll talk to the lead disruster, matt a gates, who is blowing up all these -- matt gaetz who is blowing up the funding deals, he's got grievance in so many areas. he's determined to take out speaker kevin mccarthy. you i want to know why he is disrupting all of the victories the republicans have had and stopping everything and going to a government shutdown and we'll talk with mark levine, he's out with a new book, democrats hate america and we'll talk about his thinking. he was among the first to talk about the marxist threat that's running through america which i totally agree with. we'll also of course you saw the lineup, trump ahead 10 points, we'll talk with larry elder three days before the next fox business debate, pete. we've got a big show. >> great show as always. we'll see you in 11 minutes. maria, thank you.
