good evening i am jon scott and this is the fox report. ♪ the mayor of el paso, texas think resources are strained as his city continues to be overwhelmed. migrants per day are crossing into el paso. a new spike coming from venezuela is that country remains rattled by crime and severely unstable economy. president biden facing fresh scrutiny for his border policies just this past week he approved work permits and deportation protections for nearly 500,000 venezuelan migrants. fox dues team coverage david spunt has the latest from the white house former acting dhs secretary chad wolf is standing by with his analysis and griff jenkins is on the ground in the border. let's begin with griff in eagle pass, texas. >> good evening jon. it is indeed a never ending stream of migrants. more than 2000 migrants had just passed our cameras. in fact a group are passing just behind my camera man now. but jon, as we take a look at our drone the flight team more migrants are trying to cross this dangerous river and go through the miles of this razor-sharp wire. you cannot underestimate just how bad it is and what these migrants you are seeing crossing and coming up the road now have gone through. let me just show you if i can we brought it down to the wire because people have not got a full context for just how dense and dangerous this is. you can see the migrants have put down the blankets the clothes that got caught. you can see one, two, three, four layers of about 20 -- 25 feet between that river and the bank here. they had to go through this as you come a little bit down it goes all the way down there. as i put my hand through it you can see how dangerous it would be to try to negotiate something like that. actually my shirt getting a bit stuck getting a touch too close to it. this is the humanitarian crisis on full display. this is what you have seen border patrol trying to cut through the wire went migrants get into stress. some get stuck. some get injured, some need medical treatment to let folks there when they have the children and women it's 102 degrees on the thermometer. feels like 108 here. this is very, very difficult stuff. it's happening in the sector that is over two 100% incapacity with a number of migrants not slowing down anytime soon. now you have heard what's happening and el paso the mayor there said they're reaching a breaking point and in arizona thethere getting hit just as ha. the democrat governor of arizona now speaking out about the crisis hitting his estate. congresswoman from arizona had this to say on the situation which cannot continue the way it is. listen here. >> this is totally unsustainable. you have new york city mayor complaining about it and now a very liberal governor from arizona complaining about it, you know there is a problem. but biden just seems to double down. he keeps on incentivizing all of these people to come here it is totally unsustainable. >> finally back out here now, jon as i mentioned i've stepped away from the wire. just as you can see behind me and migrants after migrants. most of them coming from venezuela. a mixture of single men and women with children. iappearedit's definitely a situn that is getting worse. something i haven't seen in the two years i've been covering and of all the agents we have been talking to you they have not seen at this bad either. we listen to a boat go by along a river this week that claimed three lives in three days. jon will send it back to you for. >> august was a record months in terms of a border crossings if you are able to hear me. it does not seemed like there is any and insight that is what you've just said more on the way? >> that is right fox news sources, we have several sources and other border towns just south of where we are we had sources as recent as a few hours ago sent us some video of hundreds if not thousands of migrants have made their way up on trains, walking this way they expect to have a very busy night. it's definitely the message about dell company tps will not apply to if you're venezuela of themessage is not being hurt soh of the subordinate they are coming in droves right now it is a a lot more than these border agents can handle right now. jon: griff jenkins reported from eagle pass, texas thanks. the secretary of the department of homeland security alejandro mayorkas visited the southern port yesterday he and the bite administration face intense scrutiny for the influx of immigrants throughout the united states. david spunt@live at the white house with more on that plus the latest on the united auto workers strake. >> hey jon good evening. from the moment president biden became the 46th president of the united states that can generate 2021 the border has been a headache. it has been a crisis this administration has been dealing with privately and now democrats are out publicly admitting this is a crisis. foxy bottom line for the border is t they chaotic situation thee has to end we need to do that on a bipartisan basis. >> jon, and new abc "washington post" poll out this weekend gives the president just a 23% approval rating for his handling of the board and that is down 28% seven months ago. >> and the trump went too much to the right by doing the separation of families and kids. then i think president biden and the administration is not doing enough. >> meanwhile the presidents is going to detroit in two days to greet those picketers the united autoworker picketers who have been protesting for several weeks hoping to reach some sort of negotiation with these companies every day the picket line steadies the parent company of chrysler and jeep in those negotiations but uaw announced progress in talks with ford, the united autoworker president that he would welcome president biden the administration sees the president biden going as a win. watch this. >> it president biden is a proud to be the most unapologetically pro- worker wrote union president we have had that is going to be on display when he's on the picket lines. >> the white house originally had negotiators from the presidents team planning to go to detroit to try to hash things out between the union and auto giants regionally pulled back instead. the president will go in addition to 8:30 6% pay increase. uaw workers that are picketing on a cost-of-living increase. they want a clear benefits when it comes to a pension. and also a four day work week. thirty-two hour work week seems to have taken a backseat in the negotiations, jon. jon: david spunt life in the white house thanks. for more on the border crisis let's bring in former acting dhs secretary america first policy institute director chad wolf. i mentioned earlier and griff jenkins a live shot august was a rerecord-breaking month. is there any end in sight to the flood of migrants coming across, walking across our southern border? >> no i don't believe there is. not only is august the highest month i think september will be higher than august. i think it's for one simple reason. the bite administration border strategy is failing. it has been failing for two and half years we continue to see astronomically high numbers month after month after month. the fundamental reason more and more illegal immigrants are coming across the border is because all the mass releases that you see. they know if they get across that border they are released into american communities they are calling friends and families and loved ones back home. it is encouraging more and more individuals to come to that border. and again it's because not only certain policies were taken down from a trump administration that were very effective, that you would see it fail the policy after failed policy being implemented with the protective status given to about 500,000 venezuelans here recently. they're going to poll many, many more illegal immigrants illegal migrants into the u.s. >> all of the set and half a million or so venezuelans are being told you can work legally in the united states. you can earn money and send that money back home if you want. >> that is exactly right. again i think you have to go back to a year. a year ago the administration said we have a problem with venezuela provide going to parm into the country. that did not work. they said okay now let's give them tps status. i don't think that's going to work either. you are going to see more and more and more. what they need to get back to his fundamental blocking and tackling along that border. imposing consequences putting remain in mexico back in place. restarting border wall construction. there's about 100 more things you could do today if they are really serious about enforcing the law. i don't think they are think tthink isthe plan they have. jon: the thinking is that what? all of the new migrants will vote democrat when they are finally able to vote is that the idea? >> i think that is part of it. i think there's a fundamental part of the left and this administration that does not believe enforcing border security law. if you don't believe that if you don't want to send border patrol agents out there on that line to enforce the law. said you have the backing facilities simply processing migrants. that is they don't believe in that. when that happens the cartels notice. word gets out you will see more and more illegal's comfort that is why the numbers for the last 28 months have been astronomically high. we only saw about 45 days right after title 42 ended that the numbers inched down ever so slightly. now they have skyrocketed again because the cartels notice the bite administration knows they're not going to remove any went once they make it across the border. jon: are other reporters have been on the border every day for the past two and and a half or e years covering this story. every single day. it is finally started to soak into the other media i was surprised to see the today show actually had a story on this morning about the crisis at the southern border. americans it appears are starting to take notice. here is the poll numbers again when asked whether they approved of the job president biden is doing only 23% that's less than one in four americans said they approve. 62% say they disapprove. why is the white house not taking notice of numbers like those? that is a huge margin. >> that is such a good question i was had the president has not really been above about 36% on the immigration issue since he took office. and as you indicated he's in the low 20s. as with republicans and house hf repressor they cannot get straight answers from the homeland security he will not answer basic questions. so i think they're very confused. i think the white house and the depadepartment of homeland secuy find themselves so much in the weeds. they have dug the hole so big it's going to take dramatic responses, dramatic action to get out from this and they simply can't do it. they cannot bring themselves to say it look, we were wrong. we are going back to things that actually effectively works. politically i don't see them doing that and that is unfortunate. the american people the communities along the border and border patrol agents specifically are paying the price for very bad policy and political decisions from this white house. jon: clicks answer if you would. the white house blames congress as is the fault of the congress? >> absolutely not. we share during a trump administration and up authorities both with the department upon security and with the president to stop the crisis today. this administration has offered up any and every excuse for the past 28 months other than just looking in the mirror and saying guys maybe it is us. maybe it is our policy is causing this progress former acting department h on securing secretary chad wolf, chad thanks very much. >> thank you. jon: an update on the story we told you about yesterday. the 13-foot alligator scene carrying part of a human body. florida investigators have identified a 41-year-old woman. police are now looking into whether the gator was involved in her death. senior corresponding steve harrigan has more. ask jon, the salt took place friday in largo, florida small town just outside of tampa. neighbors raise the alarm when they saw in a norm is alligator paddling slowly down a canal right alongside a residential streets. the jaws of that alligator was the lower torso of a human being. it turns out after a day they were able to identify that person it is sabrina 41 years old by the woman with a history of arrests including for trespassing for the alarm was raised, fire department, animal control officers all arrived on the scene. they shop that alligator several times killing it. put it on a flatbed truck it measured 13 feet eight and half inches. gators are common throughout the state of florida. in all 67 counties. fatal attacks on a human being are extremely rare. just 26 since world war ii. bauxite never would have jumped in alligator be in this area. of course i know there is a lake over across the street. i know about the lake in taylor park. but not in this neighborhood note. i never would've thought that the guards wildlife exp expert y gators to generate will hiss before attacking. they said if you do get close to a gator that hisses, run in the opposite direction as quickly as possible but not in the zigzag motion that's a urban legend. run straight, far, fast gators tire easily and will not chase a human being who is much bigger than their ideal parade. jon, back to you. quick steve harrigan thank you. we are now learning the operator of the school bus involved in a deadly crash on newark interstate was listed as an unacceptable operator by the states. the company failed several safety inspection since 2022. nate foy live with the latest on that request jon, good evening for this year has been especially problematic for regency transportation they have failed five of 15 bus inspections which is why the company earned the label of unacceptable operator by the state department transportation. the state tells fox news quote the majority of issues identified by state investigators had to do with the braking systems on a few buses. record-keeping rear axle issues also identified. return to service but inspectors never found any problem with the bus that crashed that you see here. ipass the inspection just last month shortly after regency purchased the bus it also passed for inspections between 2021 and now. the bus of course careen it down a 50-foot ravine and tipped over off the side of the new york highway on thursday. five of the 40 high school band members involved suffered critical injuries. two adults died in the crash you see them here the high school former band director as well as a retired teacher did not make it. ntsb arrived in the crash site on friday. its investigation is expected to take between five and seven days. i felt deep front tire was likely caused the crash for state department transportation declined to comment on the investigation and as it is ongoing for the bus and crashed bullheaded to a band camp in pennsylvania. the five failed inspections this year matches regency's total of the previous four years combined. fox news reached out to regency transportation for comments. but so far we have not heard back. we will send it to you. >> what a sad story. thanks nay. we are less than a week away from a potential government shutdown paid house speaker kevin mccarthy says he is still lacking support from hardliners within his own party. will they be able to rally the holdouts before it is too late?
