Americans into submission. They are calling for his resignation, they are calling for his impeachment, and the woman involved said she didnt know anything. It appears as though Brett Cavanagh lied under oath, which is a crime. I think he has disqualified himself for service on the Supreme Court. Speak out this is not just a leftwing obsession with one man, as part of a deliberate effort to attack Judicial Independence. We have to recognize the process by which he was confirmed has created crisis of confidence. In that court. So yes i have called for impeachment. Sandra brett jacobs live in washington with more and thi this. Haik sandra, the calls for kavanaughs impeachment isnt just dividing democrats and republicans, a democrat made it clear that he is not going there. Frankly we are concentrating our resources on determining whether to impeach the president. Personally i believe the president ought to be impeached. Senate Judiciary Committee chair Lindsay Graham tweeted if now theres willing to go there nobody should go there but somebody is. Massachusetts congressman a member of some of the socalled squad is introducing this resolution today to open in impeachment increasing in the statement sexual predators do not deserve a seat in the nations highest court in Brett Kavanaughs confirmation process set a dangerous precedent. We must demand justice for survivors and hold kavanaugh accountable for his actions according to the measure a committee would be authorized to take affidavits and subpoena potential witnesses its unclear how that would succeed proceed. Now House Minority leader had this to say earlier. Its an imaginary impeachment. Nobody in america wants this, there is no fax for it, and heres nadler, who campaigned to be chairman on the whole basis that he be best for impeachment the day after the election. What jerry another is doing today come in officially opening the first impeachment inquiry of the president Holding Hearings in the house Judiciary Committee. Sandra brett jacobs thank you. Meanwhile the writers from that New York Times piece now blaming editors for turning up those crucial details about the alleged victim. In your draft of the article did it include those words that have since been added to the article . Is dead. So somewhere in the editing process those words were gone. What happened as we had her name in the times doesnt know the usually the other reference to the fact that she didnt remember it. The authors of the book, how are you doing bill. The fact was editing where the line was cut out. Yes. It was no egregious omission because they are alleging an incident that this woman was abused and the woman herself has no memory of it. Its a big omission from the story how that got through. The larger thing is the story is try kind of ridiculous because they spent a year. They set out to try to prove the allegations of Brett Kavanaugh and they are no closer. The only news that they came up with in their book is legal and kaiser, chrissy fords best friend in high school, the one she asked to verify her story that Brett Kavanaugh tried to rate her. She said i believe i dont believe her story. This these are masters of insinuation and innuendo and theres no there there. A couple of things here trach caddy with martha last night and now he sees it. Impeachment is tantamount to the deaf pendleton me. Thats not hyperbolic it is the political Death Penalty. No victim, an eyewitness no one has corroborated, no ones examined or false. The six democrats are willing to give the Death Penalty for that. Status yetis view here is yours now. Wall street journal the outline from you on cavanagh. Christine blasey ford was motivated by politics, oral lawyer asserted that in april. What she said in speech at the university of baltimore is that part of what motivated her client was concerns about roe v. Wade. Even if they couldnt be real Brett Kavanaugh they couldnt keep him from taking a seat on the Supreme Court. What they would do is put an asterisk on any decision he might make to overturn roe v. Wade. Thats what its about. This sets a pattern. This is what democrats and the very left does whenever they think there is a fifth the vote against role in the offing. They did it the Clarence Thomas for this reason and theyre doing it to Brett Kavanaugh. You right if you throw enough mud it leaves a stain. You might be right about that. The president last night the new mexico thinks he can win that state heres part of the reason why. Every major democrat running for president , they want to abolish all production of oil and natural gas. In other words, the democrats want to completely annihilate new mexicos economy. Yet for whatever reason is been quite a while since the republican won this state but i think were going to win this state. Five electoral votes, 1 of 4 1 of four they want to flip from 2016 Hillary Clinton one new mexico by eight percentage points. Looks theres two aspects of this. One is the trump people obviously realize they cant just run the same playbook. The last time they took the hillary team by surprise winning in pennsylvania and michigan and ohio, these places. They are looking at the map and they are looking for places they can pick off. They want to be aggressive, not just defending what they have. Second i think the president is right, i watched some of that rally. Of the two issues that hes focusing on is the democrats war on fossil fuels, which is important to economies like new mexico, and guns. There are a lot of cheers when he talks about the Second Amendment last night. I think they are looking aggressively at some of the places they might pick off from clintons total and i think they are also focusing on the issues the voters care about. Bill also thoroughly here in new york to moscow to tell you for a candidate coming up a nominee, candidates ive seen Hillary Clintons rallies there, ive seen Barack Obamas rallies, she packed them in last night. I think shes the exciting candidate. If you look at the real clear average over the last couple of months, you see her rising glenn unlike the others. Bill they could bill. Bill bickered here for the wall street journal could but we will speak again. Sandra meanwhile more breaking news, eight york citys District Attorney has reportedly subpoenaed eight years of President Trumps tax returns part of an investigation into hush money payments to former star Stormy Daniels during the two of the new 16 campaign. Brett leventhal joining us live with those. The d. A. s office want to confirm or deny subpoenas were issued but the president s Accounting Firm told fox news that has been served and is cooperating. According to the New York Times would first broke the story manhattan District Attorney sirens events is seeking eight years of personal and Corporate Tax returns both state and federal dating back to 2011 as part of an Ongoing Investigation into what role the president and Family Business played in hush money payments in the months before the 2016 election. The focus reportedly on a 130,000 payment made by the president s former personal attorney, michael cohen, to the Stormy Daniels. Who alleged she had an affair with President Trump years earlier. Cohen who is now serving a three Year Prison Sentence for tax evasion was reimbursed at a 130,000 and the d. A. Is said to be examined if the reimbursement violated any new york state laws and at the Trump Organization may falsely accounted for the payback is a legal expense, which could be a crime. I dont know a thing about it. An attorney for the Trump Organization said we are reviewing and will respond as appropriate. The president s Accounting Firm told fox news that they will respect the Legal Process and fully comply with the legal obligations. We believe strongly in the ethical and professional rules and regulations that govern our industry, our work, and our client interactions. As a matter firm policy, professional rules we do not comment on the work we conduct for our clients. These peanuts dont necessarily mean that america will ever see the details of americas finances since theyd be protected by secrecy rules governing grand juries and wouldnt become public unless they are used in evidence in a criminal case. Sandra Rick Leventhal thank you. To speed on big day ahead big Program Including hogan gidley from the white house. More coming up in our 10 30 eastern time slot. Sandra just a few things to talk to him about. Bill which got an hour 20 minutes to think about it. Meanwhile President Trump putting a target on iran over the saudi oil attack. Is tehran responsible and if so what happens next . Republican mike turner member of the Armed Services committee will tell that next. Sandra plus the cdc taking bold no action to fight the vaping crisis across the nation as we learn now a seventh person has died. A live report on that coming up. Bill also former Trump Campaign manager Corey Lewandowski form facing a grueling day at the hill. Lets talk about the white house is asked to not talk about sandra in alabama a Police Officer shot and killed in the line of duty. It happened yesterday in tuscaloosa company. Policing officer during a chris huff was pursuing a suspect and that is when there was an exchange of gunfire. We saw the suspect on the front port of a residence the suspect fled into the house and officer cassatt followed. Shots were exchanged and he was hit the suspect was also wounded in the exchange. Disputed the suspect is now in custody. Officer cassatt was a engaged to be married had two daughters and was a 13 year back of the department. I dont want to war with anybody. Im somebody that would like not to have war. We are prepared to more than anybody, we have the best fighter jets, the best rockets, the best missiles, the best equipment, but with all that being said we certainly would like to avoid it. Knows President Trump yesterday after his earlier tweet that the u. S. Was locked and loaded thing iran appears to be responsible for the attacks in saudi arabia. As you know tehran was denied involvement from the beginning. Good morning to you. We certainly would like to avoid war, the words from the president , would you think is going on. Speak with a look at this is the fact this is escalatory, this is not. Their activities in iraq, syria, they are terrorist support for hamas and hezbollah in israel. And then the fact that its been ongoing were saudi arabia has seen other attacks and attacks on thinkers and now this large attack on their oil supply. If she did not have an intelligence that said so he certainly has access to the highest levels of intelligence i would think certainly poses a problem as we look to its not just the fact that iraq is a destabilizing force in the area, but they are continuing to escalate activity. Bill saudi arabias bringing a new into investigative. It seems like these sides are moving with caution does not . It does. It certainly is an interesting step from saudi arabia. We look in the area and clearly activity as originating from iran. The sophisticated nature of the attacks we are seeing both on thinkers and in saudi arabia are a type of attack that individual group to terrorist organizations are not able to undertake with utterance support. And ive seen reports that there are cruise missiles. We have not seen Intelligence Briefings hint as to this information but certainly it would be a much more reckless for iran to undertake that type of attack. Bill heres the tweet, i ask because a day and a half ag ago. There is reason to believe that we know the culprit are locked and loaded depending on verification but we are waiting to hear from the kingdom as to who they believe who caused this attack and under what terms they would proceed. Interesting comment last night in new mexico the way that natural gas and oil that you are not so dependent on the middle east was a rise yesterday and percentage basis for oil but not significant when you consider the site that was targeted. 11 omar was on cnn last night, she is blaming the administration for this. I think we need to make sure that the American People understand that this administration that lies about whether maps or crowd sizes cannot be trusted to give us the full information we need to make a decision whether we should be going to war or not with iran. To speed on the other big point you make is that the sanctions about a devastating Economic Impact on iran i think we can agree on that. She said the middle class and i are in for that. The campaign pompeo is put in place is incredibly important but its a recognition that iran was already a destabilizing force. This escalation theyve undertaken certainly shows that theres going to need to be a response. I think the president s right to say his actions are going to be coordinated and look to saudi arabia as to how we proceed. Bill you live in dayton, ohio, you are walking district to the organ district where that mass shooting took place in august. I dont know what we get from this but i know you saw this on thursday night. Hell yes were going to take our dumb like your ar15 collate your ak47, were not going to allow you to use it against fellow americans anymore. Do you think we get something in terms of legislation that the president can agree on . If so whats that look like. I think what beto says is as nuts as it looks. We dont want to criminalize average citizens on lawabiding citizens but they are actions that need to be taken. In the dayton, ohio, incident, the tragedy were nine people died in 27 people were injured and thank god for the police who took very quick action and killed the mass shooting and 22 seconds. That amount shooter had passed a background check. Background checks are not the panacea of fixing everything. Bill can i just stop you there. Of the background checks for commercial sales that had been considered and did not pass after sandy hook six years ago is not being considered yet again today. You are saying even if it were the law, this shooter would not of been stopped . Those are expanded background checks coming he passed a background check and the purchase of the weapon that he used. It shows we need to look at the whole skill approach and response here. Some of it is mental health, as we hear most of these stories after the fact this is an individual he told others he wanted to be a mess shooter even in high school he had lists of people he wanted to kill, people knew this but there was no action taken against him and with the unbelievable tragedy that unfolded. Bill they are suggesting that juvenile records that and when you turn 18 should not and, they should carry over into adulthood. I think after the tragedy you witnessed you probably agree with me. Even in adulthood he showed signs and people were well aware of his interests in committing mass murder and we need to be able to take action, we need to be able to empower our Law Enforcement to be able to receive information, and i think it will make us safer. Bill its good to see a come on mike turner from ohio. 20 past. Sandra of Major Pharmaceutical Company is the center of the opioid crisis. In court today after filing for bankruptcy what we can expect from those proceedings. To spew and also a seven person now dad after an illness link to the vaping, how california is not cracking down on ecigarettes in a moment. Wow. Thanks, zoltar. How can i ever repay you . Maybe you could free zoltar . Thanks, lady. Taxi only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Just be doing california mentor died over the weekend now the seventh person to die from of aping related illness. Meanwhile the cdc is activating its Emergency Operations center to investigate the cause as californias governor take steps to limit the sale of those ecigarettes. Lets just dispense with any niceties. You dont have bubblegum flavored mango flavored Tobacco Products unless you are trying to target an audience that you are losing come of thats young people. Its really unconscionable. William la jeunesse is live in los angeles with more as to what is being done about this. Sandra unlike bending ecigarettes, they want to wear his money to raise awareness about vaping after lawmakers refused to regulate ecigarettes. Why . Consider the industry has given lawmakers and the Democratic Party hereto . 2 million in campaign money. He wants to bland fruit flavored cigarettes but cannot. We are getting serious about this issue and were going to drive these issues as far as we can through executive authority. In the next few weeks the public should see a swell of ads and campaigns that really target schools and families, parents, and children directly about the risks of speed 19. Bill so ecigarettes heat and liquid nicotine to produce an aerosol. Some contained marijuana divert evidence. Think about by the cdc to 400 cases of lung illness. We shouldnt delude ourselves to thinking this is really going to make a difference. Whats going to make the difference is getting these flavored Tobacco Products off the shelves. President trump directed the hhs to do that, mean all the industry claims about blackmarket products and unlicensed shops give Legit Companies a bad name. Many experts however have an issue with vaping itself. We just dont know. It could be the materials themselves, it could be degradation products that form during the heating and air socialization process, and especially if there are pirate labs involved. One california 80 of tees who use tobacco do so by vape inc. , sandra. Maybe there will be action next year. Speedy william la jeunesse, thank you. Were going to have much more reaction unless, the cofounder of parents against vaping, ecigarettes, and her son will be joining us with her their story next hour. Bill here is what we had commit gms on the strike, President Trumps reaction as it enters its second day, you have about 50,000 United Auto Workers ticketing today demanding federal pay in Health Care Benefits and job security. Meanwhile six democrats pitching the unions at a summit on labor issues and peter doocy joins us from philadelphia with more on that now. Peter good morning. Good morning bill. Joe biden and Bernie Sanders are two of the democrats coming here to philadelphia to talk about the need for more union jobs in america after the two have spent days butting heads about health care. Bernie sanders continues to say he thinks obamacare it leaves too people bankrupt can he thinks that joe biden is being too friendly to Insurance Companies but to joe biden as recently as last night continues to say he wants to build on obamacare. Give everybody the peace of mind they deserve and that means adding a public auction to obamacare. Its the fastest most costeffective way to make sure everybody is covered. After that a enormous event in new york city, warren spent almost four hours taking selfies with supporters from reporters. Her remarks i did just before 8 00 p. M. , she left just before midnight. A lot of selfies. Peter doocy in philadelphia. They continue to try to destroy judge kavanaughs life, the accusation is ridiculous. The New York Times writes and verifies leaders and democrats candidates for president are trying to take political advantage, that must be advantage in their world to call for impeachment based on an article that is false. I think it just reinforces the low points weve gotten is going to backfire, its going to blow up in their face i hope. Sandra Senate Judiciary chairman Lindsey Graham slamming Democratic Candidates for seizing on the New York Times botched report on the Supreme Court justice, Brett Kavanaugh. Joining us now that gary severino, policy director of the Judicial Crisis Network and coauthor of justice on trial. Carrie good morning to you and thank you for being here. First off what you make of the response that we have seen from the New York Times so far . Well i see they are reeling. They are trying to blame the editors on this but these are experienced reporters, they know how the system works and we also have seen them in live interviews talking about these as if there are bombshell new allegations without disclosing the fact that the very victim alleged to be involved doesnt even remember them. This is another shameful attempt to reignite controversy and smear Justice Kavanaugh and really at the end of the dates and attack on Judicial Independence. They are trying to intimidate commit the bully, and to threaten the justices because they are hoping they will help advance and protect his liberal agenda that they are trying to get through the courts when they know its being rejected by the American People. Sandra what options does kevin have to respond here . You dont hear a whole lot about that in the present suggested. Is the Supreme Court justice, is that really in the cards . How should he respond . Thats one of the worst part because hes kind of a sitting duck because the justices dont have major media responses come hes not going to go out into a p. R. Tour to regain the reputation they are trying to attack on him. He really is just having to sit there. Hes continued to do his work and we know his colleagues have supported him, even Justice Ginsburg who has defined attempt both attacking the hostility and viciousness of the confirmation process and against people who were criticizing the quality of trumps judges. He says this because a really smart, really talented. The good news is theres collegiality still in the courts. Sandra does anything change now a big question it about the way the media has handled this . The response that we saw from some democrats calling for his impeachment based on this now false report. That Sarah Huckabee sanders took to sean hannity last night and said this. I hope that they will start to learn from some of these major mistakes that have happened over the last couple of weeks and Start Holding people accountable. Start putting some checks and balances, go back to where we have a true editorial process where they are checking these things and stories are just being pushed out and help that they can tear somebody down. Do you have any hope that anything will change as a result of this, carrie . The New York Times certainly has a lot of egg on its face today and you are seeing people not just conservatives but across the spectrum saying these reporting standards are not right. When you know that there is information directly undercutting the claims you have to put that out there. I hope they will have learned from this process but i think in the Bigger Picture this is something that is a problem on the left as a whole and thats the real thing when he put up claims just for political ends without actually double checking and doing the real hard work of making sure there is a factual basis, thats horrible for our political process and is certainly very bad for our judicial process as well. Speedily requested a list from our brain room of New York Times territories that had be retracted or is changed and edited because of corrections that needed to be made including the major correction that issued an accounting error in a piece about trumps tax plan, a false report about nikki haley, corrections made to a report about the metaphor tied to the russian oligarchs that we saw most recently. The list is long. The watt new york Journal Editorial Board takes the whole thing on, the sub assault on the Supreme Court. The attacks on Justice Kavanaugh are an attempt at intimidating to influence his opinions but if democrats fail in that, they want to portray conservative opinions of the Current Court as illegitimate. What does result of this, carrie . I think that intimidation, the attacks of Judicial Independence are the big picture stories thats most troubling and we seen that with the white houses breach of the Supreme Court recently in the Circuit Court case writing of the court doesnt rule its way they might restructure it and add more justices to boost the democratic nominees in the court. Thats shameful. Justice ginsburg it also sent against that and in terms of the idea against just crediting that justices is recently revealed the blockbuster that i thought that Christine Blasey fords side that that was part of their agenda, they wanted to put an asterisk next to Justice Kavanaughs name. Thats a horrible name to go about this process. Sandra bill mcgurn writing about that in the wall street journal about that as well. Finally if you could end with your unique perspective, carrie, having written this book on cavanaghs confirmation process, have been clerked under Clarence Thomas, having attended harvard under then dena leggett kagan, just sort of wrap this all as you have watch the process for Brett Kavanaugh that is ultimately brought us to this point. We are at a point where unfortunately the court has been politicized dramatically because some judges are acting politically and coming to conclusions on political questions when they should leave it to the law as it is and we are seeing the left get really incensed when there are judges like trumps appointee source inc. No, we are sticking with the texas laws in the constitution. Thats what ignited the anger about Clarence Thomas, they didnt want to conservative justice replacing thurgood marshall, i think that we have to worry about what happens of trump eventually has another appointee that these kinds of attacks are going to continue. Sandra which by the way we have not seen them fall in line when you look look at neil gorh and Brett Kavanaugh they have disagreed more than the need to appointed justices since kennedy. I appreciate your time this morning carrie. Thank you. Spewing monday night football quick shot here Cleveland Browns dominating the new york football jets. Odell beckham jr. Making his big return to new york since being traded by the giants. Check this out. This is pretty good. He had a onehanded catcher early in the game come that is pretty good. Spewing we will see you then, in the meantime fox news alert now the taliban has launched two deadly attacks in two days, we are now learning another american has been killed. So then what next in americas longest war . Sandra meanwhile Corey Lewandowski faced to a grilling on the capitol hill and a matter of hours. Will he answer their question . Bill also a new oped that said the front runner joe biden should drop out before he is forced out. We will take that up in a moment going up. The amount of Student Loan Debt i have im embarrassed to even say i felt like i was going to spend my whole adult life paying this off thanks to sofi, i can see the light at the end of the tunnel as of 12pm today, i am debt free not owing anyone anything is the best feeling in the world, i cannot stop smiling about it bill President Trump exerting president ial privilege for Corey Lewandowski. Andy mccarthy with him, now the author of the new book fall of collusion. How are you doing indy, good morning to you. It is clear with the white house has anything that happened after he was elected president , or after President Donald Trump was elected so thats november of 2016, dont talk about it. Is that executive privilege . Good morning bill. I think its going to depend on whether the communications involved are within the ambit of the president s responsibilities. The way executive privilege works commits a recognized privilege, the Supreme Court recognized it in the United States first mixing. It didnt wrestle with the question of whether you have to be a formal advisor on the white house staff but the language in the opinion and the related opinions seem to suggest that as long as the president is within the bounds of his written executive responsibility, a claim of privilege is legitimate and if you think about it on the other side, bill, lets see a member of congress brought somebody and from private life to talk about some economic or private policy issue or Foreign Policy issue. I think if the Justice Department tries to subpoena that a person to ask about the conversations with the member of congress, people in congress would say those conversations were privileged and all the executive branches saying here is that they are entitled to a reciprocal kind of privilege under separation of powers. Bill the one thing i was thinking about is hope hicks. She answered questions about the campaign but not after during her time in the white house. Without a fit with the definition you just provided there andy . I think as long come again bill its when he is president. If he is giving directions that are legitimately running the executive branch or dealing with his broader executive responsibilities, then a claim of privilege is legitimate. Its important to recognize that the jurisprudence we have and this involves judicial subpoenas, it doesnt involve requests for information by congress and i think thats largely because the courts try to stay out of that. Congress has means of squeezing the president into cooperation. It can cut off money, it can refuse to confirm nominees, it can even impeach the president for not cooperating. But congress has an array of powers to deal with this that the courts dont. Bill with got a minute left, the president was asked about his tax returns, a court date apparently new york state is going after them. Heres the exchange from the south lawns. Is it legal for new York Attorney general to subpoena . I dont know a thing about it. Spewing this pop up yesterday afternoon, do they have a legal clays or claim to them or not . They have a claim under new york state law but i think this is a really dangerous game to play. This is basically an obviously the politicizing of state law in order to try to investigate the president for political purposes and you know, bill, and politics just like in la what goes around comes around. This is something that could bite the democrats if the democrat is in the white house at some later point. I think if its a legitimate investigation and they can tie it to that, they have a chance to show that its relevant but if its just political harassment i dont think its going to work. Bill andy lewandowski, sorry it Corey Lewandowski at 1 00 today. Thank you for your time and congratulations on the new book. Think a belt. Sandra a disturbingly horrible crime and ending for the mother into these four childrens. They hadnt been seen for six weeks and it wasnt till saturday night that the mother of the mom here and her four grandkids children reported to police they were missing. That is what she told the cops and heres what the sheriff said yesterday. Unfortunately, true evil poked its head up and Marion County. Things moved fast here in southeastern georgia as a single car accident when a pop pulled up onto the scene that officers noticed a foul odor in the minivan at that point the Brantley County sheriff 38yearold Michael Jones jr. Said he might as well put me in handcuffs as there is a dead body in the vehicle. During his arrest he also revealed that he had disposed of other bodies and those have not been identified as their four children. The body and the crashed car was that of casey jones, the wife and mother of his two children and his two stepchildren. They ranged in age from 101. Jones jr. Is now charged with seconddegree murder for the mother coming up the kids. This case originated near Marion County where they lived in his misting poster flyer had been pulsed over the weekend. Detective believed the husband and his wife lived together with no problems, but five weeks ago he killed his wife and four children in their house and then lived in that house with the bodies for three more weeks. And then transfer the bodies to the minivan and left, likely living in the van for two more weeks with the body still inside. Before finally making it a brantley in charleston county, putting his dead children over the woods. Still no detail as to the causes of death. Horrific story. Phil keating think it. One of the questions this morning as the president directly calls out iran ran over a saudi oil attack. Welcome to a brandnew hour of americas newsroom come im sandra smith. Bill could warn if you and bill hemmer, u. S. Defense officials linking up air onto those drone attacks, meanwhile teran says there will be no talks with the u. S. Putting the president at the critical crossroads. He says he does not want a war. Beco we are having some very strong studies but its very looking that way at this moment. We will let you know. As soon as we find that definitively we will let you know. They want war, i will dont want war with anybody im somebody who would like to not have war. We have the strength of military and the world. Its peter heres the cover of the New York Post this morning saying at all, they have line boiling point. Bill Lucas Tomlinson has the story life in the pentagon as we begin a new hour there. Lucas good morning. Good morning u. S. Official said the law attacks were launched from a runny and so but so far they presented no evidence. Defense secretary mark esper is made two trips to the white house on sunday to present military options but the president studies in no rush to make a decision. Lot of options but im not looking at options right now, we want to find definitively who did this, we are dealing with saudi arabia, we are dealing with the crown prince and so many other of your neighbors and we are all talking about it together and we will see what happens. Think of the Satellite Photos released by the Trump Administration show at least 17 direct hits at two major saudi, slashing the kingdoms oil out of bed by half or about 5 of the oil supply. The president is dispatched mike pompeo to saudi arabia, he recently said in part if there are no evidence these attacks came from iran. U. S. Officials say previous attacks from a run only involve one or two drones at a time targeting southern saudi arabia as we can see from this map of the new attacks came from up to 20 drones and cruise missiles and hit an area much further north near the persian gulf not far from iran, who denied responsibility. Not every u. S. Ally is convinced iran is responsible. Frances foreign minister said its still not clear where the attacks came from. Bill we are hearing about more attacks in afghanistan today. Thats right a bill there are two major attacks today in afghanistan, one had a rally at afghanistan measured president s campaign reality, there are elections later this month up to 24 people were killed and dozens wanted to. There was another Suicide Attack in kabul and this all comes after the pentagon as identified the Army Green Beret who was killed in combat operations in waldeck providence, known till event bent not bad his name is Sergeant First Class jared w griffin from greensboro tennessee great he was on his fourth combat deployment bill and the soul comes as President Trump scraps those peace talks with top taliban and afghan officials attack camp david and made no during the 9 11 ceremony last week that u. S. Military is ramping up military operations against the taliban. Bill sacrifice continues Lucas Tomlinson think you from the pentagon. I base my vote on Brett Kavanaugh on the facts i have in front of me. Are some democrats pushing too hard on that front because they know this is radioactive . On both sides people push sometimes. I think they continued to try to destroy judge kavanaughs life. Speeded up big New York Times piece over over the beacon targ new Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh appears to be false, he they had left out a key factor yet the democrats in 2020 democrats are still running with it demanding impeachment. Lauren class lee is here, former desk the terry assistant homeland security, tom bevins, cofounder and publisher of real clear politics. Theres a lot of democrats still out there leslie who have not retracted their words based on that original report and some still even running with the idea of impeachment based on that report. Massachusetts congresswoman presley is an example of that for my home state. Im a democrat and the i word is being thrown around a lot weather with the president or with judge kavanaugh, i know this would happen and i will tell you why. The pack when there was the original allegation by dr. Christine bosley ford, there was legitimate information provided to the fbi and there was sort of like a not a full investigation is to couldve been come of this allegation was allegedly given to the fbi come they shouldve looked into it but the problem for democrats here is the victim says look, i dont remember it happened. This is not the victim saying it happened and to me, having my masters in broadcast journalism, it actually slowly make my skin crawl that the New York Times or any other outlet that calls themselves a journalist would not have all the facts that it would go by the editor before it put it out there. Now are they blaming the editing process for leaving out the key fact. Anybody who knows how the process works knows that the reporters would have to get final signoff, you get the edits back from your editor and you go through to make sure the debiting is correct so its a red herring to blame the editors on this and saying that this was just rushed. This was a key fact was omitted and i think the more we are learning about this the more we are finding out that it really was sort of a design hit job to sell books and to reignite this thank you. To the democrats on impeachment i think this is a huge mistake even jerry nadler says look, i dont want to get involved in this. Democrats are trying to walk back now but the 2020 democrats are still out there, that guarantee that this is going to be part of the 2020 election you can bet that trumps going to hammer at home. A couple of year, here is another you invoked his name hears is brain to interview earlier today. The fbi investigation was a sham, the fbi didnt investigate, sorry didnt interview Something Like 25 witnesses. Were the witnesses themselves of the 25 potential cooperating witness of fall under the jurisdiction of your community . It might, we have to vary take a very careful look at it. Bill he was also asked whether he would pursue this and he kicked it to the curb. Is not something he needs to be doing at this point and thats also something that lisa reinvigorate some of the politics with President Trump. People got really fired about about this and theyre like i may not like what President Trump is on some of the issues but i do not like the web democrats are going after dutch catchup or not, this is a revamping of where we were last year and this issue so i think its just like the impeachment of President Trump, its not a popular issue, now there knows that. The democrats do want to bring it up because they want to pull back on me too and they want to make that another central election issue coming into the president ial and its kind of this three horse strategy that was on nancy pelosi and others talk about earlier this week where they want to go after President Trump, they want to go after Mitch Mcconnell oconnell, and they want to go after Justice Kavanaugh and really help them represent the three pillars of republican corruption. To be clear jerry nadler said he wouldnt want to focus on a beach in cavanagh because he wants to focus on impeaching the president but you are in disagreement with lower their wide. Find it interesting because im a democrat and im sometimes in the room when these conversations are held and im kind of feeling like you need a grassy knoll for that Conspiracy Theory because thats not what its about there at all. Democrats didnt know about this book, havent read the book committed know about the article, did some people run with it and go with tha coach mike gap. Other others who say are you kidding me physically to is going to be a gift to trump with macbeth not one of the pentacles of what we are looking at, health care, immigration, some of those other issues arch. Trying to identify Mitch Mcconnell as being one of the leaders of the Republican Party and not Going Forward with votes on issues like security for our elections . Absolutely out agree with you on that pinnacle. I agree with you on the fact that some of the democrats do agree with that. Dick durbins and get real. Spewing to your point leslie you are in agreement with Rush Limbaugh when it comes to the New York Times. Dont say that on air. Hoops we screwed up, we are sorry, they didnt screw up anything, they are trying to destroy the men like they tried to destroy donald trump. Have any of the president both candidates glommed on it pulled back on it . Now, they are still running with it. They are demanding that kevin nutt be impeached. Because this is mission accomplished. Bill is that the end game . To destroy Brett Kavanaugh . I dont think this is going to result in anything, they are not going to impeach the guy even if they tried to they couldnt get the votes to impeach him. Its about putting an asterisk next to his name and trying to intimidate members of the court and sort of attacking the court overall, the legitimacy of the Supreme Court. Brit hume, spoke with brett last night and looked big picture at the New York Times journalism today as you put it. There was a time where this wouldve never happened, heres brett. That story is nowhere near the standard it should be meant for publishing a story, there was a time and it wasnt long ago the New York Times that i knew that used to know, i used to write years ago, wouldnt of gone near the story. We had our brain rumble up the number of corrections and retractions by the New York Times, recent retractions that occurred, 0. 06 President Trump took office including stories on paul manafort, russian collusion, and of course trumps tax plan where they left out, they made in accounting error in a big piece about trumps tax plan. So where does that put us today . This is one of the reasons why the me this isnt all about a Brett Kavanaugh, because quite frankly as a business this is really bad for business for the New York Times. I think its business suicide if you go for the New York Times to continue to do this and go on this trajectory. I know a lot of people think its all political, but you are really going to ruin your own company, youre going to lose your job for the sake of a Supreme Court member who is a tenured position and is not going to be impeached, not going to be. It also explains that . I dont know to me this is the New York Times really making an editorial decision to pursue some of these stories and it really is a compounding effect and it questions the credibility and this isnt the paper that we saw ten years ago where they were the paper of record and they were really thorough and some of the reporting. They have to take a step back and reestablish some of their credibility. I agree with you on that. These were two New York Times reporters that were taken out of other beats come they spent a year trying to research and produce this book on cavanagh. They worked for the paper and then they put this editorial oped in the paper and remove this crucial fact that brit humes point, this would never have passed muster and i think the New York Times has real credibility issues, fundamental credibility issues and i think overall journalism to a large degree is broken. Lets get the New York Times reporter on this cabin are reported in her own words here she is. Zero intent to mislead anybody about the incident we included the additional detail about this other as of yet unreported allegation because it seemed germane to the type of thing we were talking about, it was a somewhat similar incident. Specular reporters saying they included this key piece of information but it was the editors in the editing process in which it was sticking out. It almost reminds me of kids, i didnt do it she did it. And quite frankly theres more than one person responsible here. You have the Writers Committee of the editors. But the allocation itself was made by a man, who said he made this allegation but a woman and the woman herself the claim to be interviewed and said she didnt remember the incident. So how that ends up in a book and how that ends up being omitted from this oped. Its just astonishing. Bill more to come unless lets go to mike new mexico from last night. Be to the goal is to flip that to read, right . Here is the president of. Revenues from Energy Production provide up to 25 of your states budget and going to much higher in the very near future. Every major democrat running for president , they want to abolish all production of oil and natural gas, in other words the democrats want to completely annihilate new mexicos economy. Speedy lets bring back in the numbers for your time because here with 2016 new mexico results, clinton 48. 3 to Donald Trumps 40 . So, thought for all of you . Can he do it . Its an uphill climb. Its been a blue state for a long time, president bush wanted to end 04 by less than one percentage point but it is smart of trump, typically has these rallies in swing states are states that are heavily read, i think its smart for him to sort of get into democratic territory make his pitch particularly to hispanic voters. Got the luxury of time, hes got the luxury of money, hes got the luxury of a very strong base reports or is not having to spend most times and most solidly red state so its a why not strategy here it also youve seen this white house this week, they had the president ial medal of freedom, they are doing a bunch of new citizens where kids, they are making much more conservative effort to make a strong pick to hispanic voters this time around so i think the new mexico speech he saw last night was all part of that strategy. The Campaign Said that inside 8,004,000 outside combat the pretty turn out for the state of new mexico. Elizabeth warren was here in new york this thing and upwards 20,000. She had an oppressives showing. When 2016 candidate trump were talking with the crowds and people were eye rolling, when those people show up to vote they will be our president. I was right about the 12,000 in new mexico, is it going to get on that state question mickeys underwater there and its not going to get them than the hispanic vote. He is saying i love hispanics and beacon of mexican heritage month and lets have taco tuesday, but the reality is that the hispanic population throughout the country in the majority of them that live in the state that i am in, california, dont want a wall which he talks about on the other side of his mouth dont like what he and republicans are doing and not doing with regards to immigration. Dont forget what he said during the campaign about who comes to the United States from mexico and wasps and mexico are saying, thats not what is going to win. Are you willing to say that shes going to be the nominee . Note the ways to still open. We are not tracking the betting odds, shes in the lead and i think she has the most momentum in that race but i think its still wide open and theres a lot to be run yet. I would agree, wide open. Sandra all right a team thank you. Tuesday morning a team, i appreciate it. Its going to depend on whether the communications involved are within the ambit of the president s responsibilities. At the language in the opinion and the related opinion seem to suggest that as long as the president is within the bounds of his executive responsibilities, a claim of privilege is legitimate. Bill just a few hours no from now, Corey Lewandowski is appearing before that house judiciary justifying before congress and we are learning a lot more about how that will go down today. Katherine harris has that, shes in washington now. Thank you bill and good morning this is the First Official hearing under the new rules passed by democrats on the House Committee last week and the first major hearing since special counsel Robert Miller testified in july, housed cats called on three witnesses to appear. Former white house aides and former Campaign ManagerCorey Lewandowski are not coming after the white house intervened deciding executive privilege. Lewandowski is expected to publicly testify in though he was not part of the White House Team he has been told not to go beyond his earlier statements to the special counsel. Chairman now there is focused on allegations the president obstructed justice when he told lewandowski to go to then attorney general just sessions and limit the special counsel investigation. Lewandowski according to mueller did not follow the instructions and ultimately asked dearborn to be the messenger, but he also refused. In advance of the hearing now theyre told the new york Radio Station that he accepts impeachment will never get through the senate, but he said the process and what it uncovers is still worth it. The fbi investigation was a sham. The sei didnt investigate, sorry didnt envy Something Like 25 witnesses. Are the interviews themselves of the 25 potential witnesses fall under the jurisdiction of your committee . It might, we have to take a very careful look at it. That sound obviously didnt match the graphic so we are sorry about that but with the chairman is saying is that he feels that the behavior by the president that is alleged in the special counsel investigation in his words should not be normalized. In the meantime republicans saying another ought to be calling that republic washington watch dr. Testify about his investigation into former fbi director james comey. He violated fbi policy and was a leaker. This is the second report by horwitz thats been highly critical of coming that had both the trump in its campaigns under investigation in 2016. Thank you catherine. While joe biden is currently the frontrunner in the 2020 poles, the new oped saying the former Vice President should drop out of the race before he is forced out. Is that fair . Were going to take that up next question marks because of the vaping crisis returns to capital held, we learned about the seventh death. A mother and son in a battle to keep the product out of the hands of kids. Its not a political issue but a moral one and if we dont take action now we face an entire generation of kids addicted to nicotine who are human guinea pigs for the dual experiment and you could lower your Monthly Payments right away by calling newday now. Sandra another big story Purdue Pharma taking big step in its pharmacy journey, the producers of oxycontin will appear in federal court to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy in order to resolve thousands of lawsuits with a multibilliondollar settlement. Oxycontin has been blamed for more than 400,000 deaths right here in the United States over just the past few decades. Several states have balked at joining the deal because it fails to fund the Company Liable for the opioid crisis. Name like bubblegum, cotton candy, these are obviously targeted to young people. We would abandon all flavors besides tobacco and menthol. Its because theres new york Governor Cuomo declaring the Public Health emergency to ban the sale of flavored ecigarettes. We want to bring in a personal story, she is the founder of the rating of ecigarettes and this is the son, also antivaping advocates. I should say now you are. Caitlin welcome to the show. So hes vaping in his apartment in new york city and you kind of think something is up. What happened . Like millions of parents across america i had a son who was experimenting with these products, the real motivator for us to become antivaping advocates to start the group that i did with against vaping and cigarettes, was the discovery that juul had sent a representative without the knowledge of calebs school through an outside antiaddiction group that was wellintentioned but naive, a juul rep came into a ninth grade classroom with no other adult presence, i will let caleb tell you the story. So the speaker basically sent mixed messages by often saying that the product was totally safe and not harmful at all, following up that statement but as we dont want u. S. Customers. I believe the customer was sending a mixed message and if a told not to do something, there is a good chance they are going to do something so i believe the speaker was basically marketing to the juul to ninth graders. What is the attraction . I would say that the device is extremely sleek, charges fast, it looks just like a flash drive you can get away with that and theres a moment of euphoria once you use it and its a head brush that kids really enjoy. There seems to be at least the stage for their part as taking on the flavored versions of these, do you feel like those appeal more to young kids . 100 . I think a lot of the reasons that kids are now more open to Nicotine Products is because of the flavors because not many kids would want to experiment something the terrorists like tobacco. I think having a mint and mango flavored nicotine devices just completely targeting teens. Bill the idea was to pull people off of cigarettes and give them an alternative. Let me just get the Company Statements in here, juul has given us a lot of statements heres one of them. They say we strongly agree with the need for category wide product restriction on flavored products. We will continue to combat usage while supporting reasonable access to vapor products for adults looking to switch from combustible cigarettes. New yorks taking actress. First made comment that they are, that they no longer provide flavors for to Retail Stores is they are comments but the reality is all across this country because we have parents against vape inc. In multiple states, i will tell you that those products, those flavors are still on the shelf. Sandra i know youre going to d. C. Tomorrow. I believe its their states make this amount announcement, newly formed congressional caucus to end the vaping vape being epidemic. This is according to the food and drug administration, 3. 6 million american middle and High School Students were current ecigarette students in 2018, we know that number has gone up. That number is now 5 million teens, we are so grateful to President Trump and his administration for promising americas children and americas families that they will remove these flavored devices from the market. Because the flavors of hooks of the kids, this is the most, the youth leaping up there with both series title is Health Crisis weve sit phased for death gains. This Mysterious Illness is a terrible outgrowth of this epidemic. Bill a lot of americans are just getting educated on this. Weve talked about it for several months on the ideas that pack more nicotine in that pot essentially so you get more of a rush quicker sooner almost like smoking somewhat alleged entire pack of cigarettes. I think that one juul pot is equivalent to 1. 5 packs of cigarettes and if you are a teen who is consuming to pat a day thats a lot of cigarettes. How old are you question marks become 17. So what are you hearing from your friends and your peers . Are they starting to get word of the dangers of this and actually doing it . I think a lot of teens are starting to realize that there are harmful outcomes of the vaping but i think that having a nicotine addict gin, or nicotine addiction is so strong that no matter what you hear its just nearly impossible to quit especially if you are a teen who has the stress of tests. To speak or a fully done with that . Im totally done with that at this point. Bill good luck to you meredith and good luck in washington, d. C. Is he going with you . I hope so. We want to think the president for helping take on this issue. We are really grateful to the president for taking action to protect our kids. Bill thank you for sharing your story. Good luck to you. Sandra good luck and let history test. President trump working on a plan to tackle gun violence in the nation. When will we see a plan from the white house . Thats the big question. Could be this week with mcbeal and also the president calling out iran for being likely responsible for that attack over the weekend. Hogan gidleys on the north line and we will bring him here live to talk about thought and a range of issues live next. The sanctions have been very crushing and you are right, they are lashing out right now but they need to be called up for what they are, a terrorist nation bill its 10 30 three here in new york and its tuesday morning, words from abc news moments ago announcing the death of the legendary journalist and abc news political commentator cook pokey roberts. Family released a statement saying we will miss cookie. Her children lee and rebecca and six grandchildren. Cockie was 75. Most more in her life and passing here on americas newsroom. Speedy u. S. Intelligence indicating a run once inside the weekend attack on major oil sites in saudi arabia. President trump saying he wants to avoid a wider come flick. Straining is not as hogan gidley, White House Press secretary. Lets start with iran, what is President Trumps next move when it comes to around . Listen we are working with our partners and allies in the region, looking at all the evidence, all the information that saudi arabia is conducting its own investigation as you well know. The president mentioned yesterday from the oval office that he thinks its likely that this could be the doing of iran but we dont have an announcement yet and if we are going to make that declaration he wants to be ironclad and the evidence and he wants to make a case the congress and the American People just who is at fault here. The fact is regardless of this attack, iran has been involved in terrorist behavior for 40 plus years. We have sanctioned them and put a maximum Pressure Campaign on iran like no other administration in history in their economy is teetering on the verge of collapse all because this president refuses to let them continue to proffer death and destruction across the globe and hopefully brings them to the table to have a discussion so they can eventually stop what they are doing. Bill that last answer means they still wanted to talk to them. Does he still want to meeting with iran . Theres no meeting scheduled. Obviously we will be at anger at the beginning of next week. Nothing scheduled out the books right now. At the president of the United States come hes obligated to try to find peace where he can, but hes not going to release or raise or lift sanctions on iran considering where it theyve been a party to for the past 40 years and that hasnt changed. Bill United NationsGeneral Assembly is you in ga and we will see you and that he later today. The president has made it clear how he feels about that New York Times report about justice Brett Kavanaugh, which has not been corrected by the New York Times to include a key detail. What is the president sing about that this morning . Just nothing new sadly by the Mainstream Media and strangely the meat New York Times. Time and time again what we see from journalists across this country is they masquerade opinion and editorializing as fact. If they want to attack this president or this administration without real information just by offering their opinion they can do that on the opinion pages. There is a spot dedicated to those opinions in all of these publications and all of these newscasts, but when they put it in front of the American People as real news its a disservice to the American People but its also an affront to real journalism. People deserve to listen at the facts and information from their news outlets. Time and time again thats just not what they are getting. The first man amendment of the United States affords the freedom of press and as we are here in constitution week, it should be imparted i guess or we should have the opportunity to remind journalists just the big responsibility that carries with it. To offer information to the American People without a bias without opinion, and just the facts and we dont get that time and time again. Its sad that journalists have fallen this far and if you look at their twitter feed you can see the snark and the rancor, its not news anymore and thats why the American People dont trust the media and dont track like the product. Is the president spoken to Brett Kavanaugh . Or not. Not to my knowledge but hes made his opinions very clear. I want to get a reaction from danny presley, the democratic congressman from massachusetts of this last night. Here it is in the scene, sexual predators do not receive a seat on the nations highest court in Brett Kavanaughs nomination process set a dangerous precedent, we must demand justice server for survivors and hold kevin nutt accountable for his actions. She too is pushing for some level of impeachment what is the what i think about that . Its absolutely it ridiculous. Youre trying to run a mans life and career without any corroborating evidence whatsoever. You are presumed innocent in this country until Proven Guilty and democrats here want to reverse that and thank you try to prove sometimes of innocence. They say the process was a sham. The evidence created a level of investigation, how do you react to the characterization of that shame process . What is a sham is the democrats continue to go after this man and his family in his career. Thats what the shame here and they do a time and time again. First it was russia, then it was racism, then it was a recession, they lie about this president consistently and then they try to rope and people in his orbit. This is a constitutional duty of the president of the United States to put forth United StatesSupreme Court nominee. It went through the process he was vindicated, he was confirmed, its time for democrats to move forward commenced a dark time in our nations history when you saw them attack this man the way they did without evidence and without cause and it has to stop. Sandra Corey Lewandowski, the manager is expected to testify later today was the reaction of the president there . Ive talked to mr. Lewandowski as you know but its ours understanding that he will testify to congress about the public mentors that were released in the Mueller Investigation and we dont really have nothing further other than to say the private communications between anybody and the president are just that, private and they are subject to immunity. The white house to try to prevent him from doing this, right . Not to my knowledge. 1 00 is the hearing this afternoon. Lets get the guns right now, i dont know when we are going to hear something from the president. We havent heard from the white house since last week, we are waiting to hear from them to see what the staff come his staff, the president s staff is going to recommend to them. We can even get to first base of commercial background check as a Building Block which i will call the first base, you can go from there if they want to, but thats what were talking about today and thats what we should be talking about because its doable. The suggestion yesterday is that democrats are moving the goal posts. When will we hear the present incident as to what he will sign into loc which make we know it democrats are talking about there, that first base mention, lets talk about the home run and we saw that on full display the other night when some of the candidates pushed for gun confiscation. Weve been saying for a long time thats all the democrats want and we were made fun of as hex and he said standing up for a Second Amendment is seen its time come and go, but the fact is that we have the right to keep and bear arms in the president has in fact talked to the right end of the left on this matter, weve been in negotiations and we hope to reveal something to the American People really sent. It should be noted with the president once here is something that actually does some good to protect the American Communities and our american families. This isnt about feelgood legislation, this is about getting something that accomplishes safety and security for the American People and we hope to see that soon. Im not going to put a timetable on it but we expect the president to be acknowledging something very soon. Sandra hogan gidley live at the white house. Thank you. Bill in a moment here a new oped said joe biden to get out of the race now while he has the choice to withdraw. Why would the clear frontrunner into even entertain that possibility . We will take on that idea in a moment next. You see me. But if you saw me before cosentyx. I was covered. It was awful. But i didnt give up. I kept fighting. I got clear skin with cosentyx. 3 years and counting. Clear skin can last. See if cosentyx could make a difference for you. Cosentyx is proven to help people with moderate to Severe Plaque Psoriasis find clear skin that can last. Dont use if youre allergic to cosentyx. How sexy are these elbows . Get clear skin that can last. Ask your dermatologist about cosentyx. Get clear skin that can last. I was on the fence about changing from a manual to an electric toothbrush. But my hygienist said going electric could lead to way cleaner teeth. She said, get the one inspired by dentists, with a round brush head. Go pro with oralb. Oralbs gentle rounded brush head removes more plaque along the gum line. For cleaner teeth and healthier gums. And unlike sonicare, oralb is the First Electric toothbrush brand accepted by the ada for its effectiveness and safety. What an amazing clean ill only use an oralb oralb. Brush like a pro. With some questions right now here is one of the comments from the New York Post, Michael Goodwin writes the following if joe biden its time for you to drop out of the race before you get pushed out. Welcome to bring back the ateam, hello you three. They on to something question mike know its Wishful Thinking and he wants Elizabeth Warren to be the democratic candidate i think. The bottom line is, joe biden is currently leading and you cant just dismiss his supporters. I understand the democrats most likely will get behind whoever the democratic nominee is, but you cant sandra Michael Goodwin says yes im aware is different winners. Frontrunners never exit voluntarily, he says he believes if i didnt notice Something Else to the growing concerns about his mental and physical capacity are legitimate is what he writes. I think thats right. I think there are growing concerns and they will continue to be a concern as we go through this process. I disagree with michael, he says that bloomberg or cuomo should jump and occupy that space, thats never going to happen, but the question is whether biden cant go the difference with the other democrat that can step up and for that moderate lane hes filling . So far nobodys been able to catch on. Any clubs are still in the race but a couple of others have already dropped out. So we will see. If biden doesnt stumble at somebody else will have to rise. May be they just havent risen because occupying that space there is an argument to be made that a lot of bidens supporters are going to stick with him no matter what the end is much as his rivals have tried to land these attacks against his mental sharpness or his age are these other things and say that hes not the right person for this moral revolutionary during changes that they are seeking to implement and run on, it could be that its not going to stick, bidens voters, bidens supporters support him no matter what and are going to stick with him through this. I think toms halves these numbers of memories but for our number viewers here we go. Bernie sanders is just below 70 . This is what it but there are two Things Holding biden up right now, the fact the progressive vote is being split between sanders and worn because they have more support than he does if you combine them. And then is a support among africanamericans and that its his firewall. The problem is and ive said before, between february 3rd when i will vote and february 29th when South Carolina votes, if joe biden doesnt win in iowa or come in a close second and if he doesnt finish first or a close second in New Hampshire, thats a long three weeks and we can come a lot will happen in the time if he seen us not being able to sort of win over voters. His support could migrate to someone else. I agree with you which is why this article is wrong because the time is wrong. Youve got a let this play out to it a grade. Elizabeth warren and Bernie Sanders share a voter base largely those numbers show that very clearly but what also these numbers show is what the numbers around the country show. Let the democrats are largely centrist and moderate come thats the majority of those that were elected artists interest in moderate in the majority of the voters so its not time to push someone who is more middleoftheroad moderate like joe biden and asked him to resign as Michael Goodwin is doing and suggesting end to the age think, i was just in the green room just completely forgot somebody last name when i was talking to them. I once had that on air. It shows hes busy, its not age. Im not 70 something. Thank you lauren, thank you to all of you. The president hitting some democratic strong holds after a big rally in new mexico in an effort to turn that state blue. President trump heading to california this hour. Welcome back to americas newsroom. Im sandra smith. And im bill hemmer. The president going to deep blue territory. Hes in Northern California soon with many details of his trip shrouded in secrecy. Why would that be . Heres john roberts. We know where you are every day. Good morning to you on the north lawn. No secret to where i am, bill. Here in the middle of a construction site. Lets lift the veil on the president s trip. He has four fund raisers in california. Fund raisers that really illuminate the depth of support that the president enjoys in the golden state despite the fact that california traditionally is very deep blue. Lets take a look at where the president is going the next couple days. Lunch today in the bay area. Expected to raise 3 million. Tonight, he has a dinner at the Beverly Hills home of Real Estate Developer jeffery palmer. That is expected to bring in 5 million. Hes got a breakfast in los angeles tomorrow that should bring in another 3 million. Another lunch in san diego which will bring in 4 million. The total haul the next two days, expected to be 15 million. The Beverly Hills fund raiser attracted a lot of controversy after will and grace stars, deborah messing and Eric Mccormack demanded to know who in hollywood would be at that Beverly Hills fund raiser. Messing said please tweet a list of all attendees, please. The public has a right to know. Eric mccormack said hey, at the hollywood reporter, kindly report on everyone attending this event so we can be clear who we dont want to work with. Thanks. The actors were met with avalanche of tactics. The president tweeted back mess being and mccormack apologized and saying they werent trying to black list anyone. Its possible that these fund raisers could bring in more money than projected. Thats what happened in a controversial fund raiser in liberal southampton new york in august. The rnc chair woman Ronna Mcdaniel tweeting back august 9, thanks to the unhinged mob on the left, President Trump raised 12 million today, 2 million more than was expected. The president is raising money in california, but also wants to let republicans know how much he does appreciate their support. Again, california is always deep blue, but theres a number of republicans in the state. And there were a number of seats, a little more than half a dozen in the congressional side of things that transferred from republicans to the democratic site. The president hopes that he can win those back in 2020. The president s campaign believes that having him at the top of the ticket will help down ballot races in california. So thats one of the big reasons why hes ott there. Bill thanks, john roberts. Kicking off a new hour. Thanks from the white house. Sandra another big story, Corey Lewandowski set to testify two hours from now. Trumps former deputy chief of staff, Rick Dearborn and his former white house staff secretary, rob porter, also on the witness list but not expected to show. The president blasting the democratic controlled panel. All of these radical left crazies are in Judiciary Committee and all of these committees that are set up to hurt the country. With all that we have going, look at the cards weve been dealt. Lucky we won the election in 2016, believe me. Sandra now heres guy benson from townhall. Com and host of the guy benson show. What do you think happens here, guy . The democrats should know that Corey Lewandowski today is going to be a highly uncooperative witness. Hes very loyal to the president. He is maybe mulling a senate race in New Hampshire in which the president s endorsement has been made but would be very important in a primary process. Hes not going to deviate at all from the talking points that he would imagine the president would want to hear from him. There are some legal disputes about what hes allowed to say, what they can plausibly claim under immunity or under executive privilege. So my guess is lewandowski will be aggressive, he will be hostile with the democrats, hes going to push back. Hes already been quoted saying he looks forward to reminding them over and over again, no obstruction, no collusion. That was the line from the president himself. So it will be contentious and whether its productive or constructive at all, i have my doubts. Sandra steve groves from the white house blocking their testimony both porter around dearbo dearborn. He says theyre immune from being compelled to testify. He says the same has been followed by both Political Parties for years. Andy mccarthy joined us at 9 00 talking about how congress can compel those witnesses to testify. Heres that. As means of squeezing the president into cooperation. You know, can cut off money, can refuse to confirm nominees. They can even impeach the president for not cooperating. So the congress has an array of powers to deal with this that the courts dont. Sandra so thats what we know so far. Well see what plays out, guy. Yeah, this is a tug of war that we see a lot in administrations of both Political Parties between the administration and congress, particularly when at least one house of congress is run by the opposition party. Sometimes you wade into a legal thicket where the question is who has the upper hand, Whose Authority trumps whose and maybe the Judicial Branch gets involved. Andy is an attorney. Im not. I think his analysis is spot on. What im curious, sandra, to see is how far the democrats are actually willing to go to start moving some of the levers of power that he talked and. There was a poll that just came out about five days ago, a democratic internal poll, the dccc that put out some of their own numbers. I thought it was very revealing. 10 of the American People that were polled said that the number 1 priority of democrats in congress ought to be investigating trump. 10 . Then they asked, do you think that is their number 1 priority . 54 of the American People said yes. So a majority believe the democrats are fixated on investigations, something that is prioritized by a small sliver of the American People. I think the democratic leadership can see those numbers, can read that information and theyre nervous about how much they should get bogged down in a process fight over this stuff with the white house especially when Many Americans i think closed the book on the whole Mueller Investigation after the Mueller Report came out. Sandra well see. Guy benson, thank you. You bet. Bill state of california now taking measures to limit the sale of e cigarettes. Flavored e cigarettes. A seventh personal died from a vapingrelated incident. William la jeunesse is in los angeles. William . California is famous for regulating almost everything, cars, toys, jewelry, stars and criticizes the president for not doing more. Lets just dispense with any niceties. You dont have bubble gum flavored, mango flavored Tobacco Products unless youre trying to target an audience that youre losing, young people. Its really unconscionable. Six bills to regulate vaping died in sacramento. No surprise lawmakers received 2. 2 million in Industry Campaign money. Unlike michigan that already banned eflavored cigarettes and new york considering it, newsome could only vow to spend 20 million to raise awareness. In the next few weeks, the public should see a swell of ads and campaigns that really target schools and families, parents and children directly about the risk of vaping. Theres a huge gap in knowledge right now. The prevalence and the usage is so far ahead of the science. E cigarettes produce an aerosol by heating nicotine. The cdc links to 450 cases of lung illness. The industry says they support the crackdown on youth vaping. They say black market shops give legitimate companies a bad name. King pen and some of these others that have been counterfeited, theres an awareness of their products. Theyre using it as a Marketing Tool to get people in their illegal store. President trump favors a ban on flavored e cigarettes and directed hhs to make it happen. Bill . Bill william la jeunesse, thank you. The story getting attention now. Sandra iran saying they will hold no talks with the u. S. During the Assembly Meeting in new york in the wake of drone strikes on the saudi oil facilities. So what is President Trumps next move when it comes to iran . Dan hoffman will weighin. Bill and the New York Times report on judge kavanaugh sending shock waves through washington d. C. North Carolina Republican tom tillis will react. This is another shameful attempt to smear judge kavanaugh. Its an attack on Judicial Independence. One of the most valuable rewards we receive for serving our country is our va mortgage benefits. Sandra outrage on both sides of the aisle over a botched report on Justice Kavanaugh that suggested a new allegation of sexual assault. Lindsey graham reacting as some democrats are reacting. The accusation is ridiculous. The New York Times writes and verifies later. Democratic candidates for president are trying to take i guess political advantage somehow. Must be an advantage in their world to call for impeachment based on an article that is false. So it reinforces the low points weve gotten. It will backfire. It will blow up in their face, i hope. Sandra lets bring in north republican republican senator tom tillis. Good morning to you. If i could get where you stand on everything that has happened since sunday when that piece was published in the opinion section of the times. Then obviously errors were identified, corrections were made. Where does it stand this morning . I agree with Lindsey Graham. Its another liberal media mob hit. Theres no basis for the allegations. I think this is a continuation of what we saw in the Judiciary Committee. You had president ial candidates attacking him with false allegations. Frankly, at some point, there has to be a legal responsibility to the parties doing these sorts of things. And then the calls for impeachment will go nowhere. House democrats said theyre not going to. Theyre using this for their own political gain. People in North Carolina are sick of it. Sandra when you said there should be a legal responsibility to the parties involved, as a member of the Judiciary Committee, what do you mean by that . What i mean by that, Justice Kavanaugh, his reputation is being attacked. I think theres probably a legal basis for a libel suit with the New York Times. I doubt seriously Justice Kavanaugh will pursue it. Its a calculation of the liberal media outlets. They know they can get away with false allegations with no repercussio repercussions. Its wrong. Sandra that would be highly different for a justice to sue the New York Times. Would you tell him to consider that . If it wasnt a justice of the Supreme Court, i firmly believe that they would have a case and pursue it. Its interesting. This morning i was reading news clips, another cable stable reported the original New York Times article and foot noted it. Theyre laundering lies and destroying a great Supreme Court justice. Sandra some of the statements from the editor are still calling for kavanaughs impeachment. Thats right. Theyve cor using this to spin cycle using false accusations against a good mean and theyre toing to keep the story alive as long as someone gives credibility to an allegation that we know is no corroborated. Like so many others the democrats have put forth against the president , Brett Kavanaugh. I went through pages and pages of investigations against judge kavanaugh. Theres nothing there. Thats why hes on the Supreme Court bench today. Sandra thats not stopping some like ianna presley say this. Such predators dont deserve a seat on the nations highest court. We have to hold him accountable for his actions. To that you say what, senator . Id say go through the testimony of our Judiciary Committee. Go through the investigation that the fbi did. You will draw the same conclusion if youre fairminded. If youre a political hack trying to make points and drive a false narrative, youre not going to be bothered by the facts. The facts are that theres no substantiating or corroborating evidence to any of this. This hit piece by the New York Times is another attempt to distract people awhy from the president s great track record on the economy, the things hes doing for this country. North carolina is not going to stand for it. Sandra why do you think they stay on this message . Why is Mitch Mcconnell made the case as the left wing obsessed i think is his word, about over Brett Kavanaugh . Why do they continue with this strategy . The democrats are staying on this message because they have products that people are not buying. Near not buying what theyre trying to do to get elected based on policy. So since their policy proposals are failing, theyre going to try to distract people through false allegations and false narratives about a good man, Brett Kavanaugh. Sandra senator tillis, thanks for coming on. Thank you, sandra. Bill thank you, senator. The battle for the west continues. The President Trump says he wants to flip new mexico from blue to red and believes he can get it done. The former governor, Susanna Martinez is on deck next. The unemployment for hispanic americans is right now at the lowest level ever recorded in the history of our country. Wages for hispanic americans are rising really fast up nearly 8 since my election. Those are unheard of numbers. Bill back from last night, the president courting the hispanic vote. Susanna martinez knows the state as well as anyone. Shes the former governor of the new mexico. Good morning. Welcome back to our program here. Hello to you. Good morning, bill. Bill so are they on to something or Wishful Thinking . No, you know, its not going to be easy to win new mexico, but it absolutely can be done. I was a republican. Ran for governor. 45 of our population are hispanics. I ran on Border Security. I ran on the issues of taking away drivers licenses from illegal immigrants. A drivers license that looked like ours and put our security at risk. Those issues i brought out to the table and i was elected as governor twice in a state where usually its a blue state. So its very possible for this president to win this state. Bill you say very possible. Theres hesitation. Fair enough. Pugh Research Shows disapproval, approval among hispanic, 79 disapprove of President Trump. He argued that they want the wall. They want immigration to be legal. Is that your sense in your community . Is he right about that . It really is. You know, every hispanic, theyre not any different than any other American Voter in that they want to be secure in their home. Make sure that they want their children to get a good education, making sure the borders are secure and people are coming in lawfully as many other immigrants have. So its not something that is that cannot be done. Its very clear that the president can win new mexico. But hes got to go to places where republicans usually dont go and be able to get that message across. Bill i dont know what the i hear from the campaign that 8,000 inside, a little more than that and 4,000 outside. You know the state. Seems like he can rally anywhere. Is that significant to you . Yes or no. Its huge. That was a very wellattended rally. There was thousands of people attending. I kept looking when they say would show pictures of the audience. You had hispanics applauding for security. Theres a high number of veterans in new mexico. We have four military bases. They understand the issue of Border Security. Our ranchers understand the issues of having a secure border. They understand lawful immigration. To me, its communicating that message and making sure that we dont have for example, the far left, they want to ban fracking. The minute that warren wants to become president , shes going to ban fracking. What will that do to the budget of new mexico . That will destroy our budget, which destroys our educational system, a third of our budget comes from the oil and gas industry. A clear choice to be made here not just on Border Security but education and fracking. If theyre going to ban the drilling of oil and gas, theyre going to destroy the economy of new mexico. Bill i understand the point youre making. Hillary clinton won it easily by eight points in 2016. Youre right to point out its a leap at the moment. Might be 14 months from now. But if you look at the strategy whether its minnesota, New Hampshire or new mexico, trying to take a blue state and flip them to red. Of the three, is new mexico the best chance or not . I think it can be the best chance. As long as theres honest communication about the policies. Hispanics are no different than any other American Voter. They want get education. The veterans here understand better than anyone how important it is to have a secure border. How to make sure we dont have people entering that are bringing drugs and narcotics into the rest of the country through our state. So i think its a big possibility. I won the first time. I won a second time as well with a greater number than the first time. Because i followed through on my promises just like President Trump is doing. Bill well see in time. Thanks for coming back here. Governor Susanna Martinez. Thanks for your time. Thank you, bill. Sandra were looking into a Violent Crime spree in minneapolis. Sandra fox news alert right now. 20 people in minneapolis arrested. 18 charged in disturbing mobstyle attacks there. Police are telling us more about their investigation. Its really unacceptable for me as chief. Its unacceptable for our people from minneapolis. Sandra matt finn has more. Some of these attackers will be charged with first degree aggravated robbery and face up to 20 years in prison. Theyre tough to watch. Minneapolis police tell fox news that the mobs targeted vulnerable victims like cell phones. In this video, a victim said he left a bar with his friends when he was beaten unconscious. Hes trying to hold on to his beeb belongings until hes knocked out. This video shows how badly he was assaulted. I didnt realize how hard i had been kicked in the face. It was much more brutal than i thought it was going to be. I assumed that they hit me a couple tiles and i gave up and they went on their way. I was knocked unconscious. Obrien said he covered a concussion and other injuries and said that he feels like he survived a cage fight. Other video shows a man beat in breeds daylight, running him over with a bike and ripping off his pants. The videos come as minneapolis is battling a Police Officer shortage. The chief asking for a staggering 400 additional officers. So far the mayor has proposed 14. The mobstyle robberies could have been connected if there were more officers in the investigation unit. The police chief says he has to convince members of the city council that dont see another need for officers. You have to be held accountsable. Theres consequences for your actions. I dont want there to be a small group of people that feel that they can go unchallenged, unchecked. Minneapolis police tell us the videos and beatings dont qualify for a hate crime because the victims were not targeted for their race but rather they were impaired. Sandra thanks, matt. A few years ago if we had a problem like you saw two days ago in the middle east, we would have been in a panic. Although not if i were your president. We never panic. We dont want to panic. We oppose the toughest ever sanctions on the iranian regime. Watch how that works out, folks. Going to be very good. Bill President Trump last night in new mexico as u. S. Defense officials link drone attacks to saudi arabia. Iran says theres no talks with the u. S. Dan hoffman here with us. Good morning. Lets start with saudi arabia and iran. You say its a wickedly challenging National Security issue. Start. It is. If there was an attack as we believe it was from iranian territory using drones and cruise missiles, simply put, it was an act of war. Its an escalation, a gradual one from iran. Theyve been stockpiling lowgrade jeanne yurmyou uraniu. So theres a lot to be concerned about for iran. Right now the administration rightly so is considering options for how to respond to this latest attack. Bill lets talk about that response, whether it comes now or never. I think the Administration Bill the saudis are calling on the u. N. To investigate. That seems like it will take some time. If thats the case, both the u. S. And riyadh are moving judicially on this. Go ahead. Yeah, its a personal opinion that makes me uncomfortable when you ask the u. N. To investigate this sort of an attack. Well rely on our intelligence and intelligence from our allies in the region. I think we need to make our case to the public at large in our own country if we take make a decision to launch a return strike against iran. I think the president is right to be careful about it. Theres no need to rush into it. Consider all of our options. Theres many in iran from which to choose. But again, iran has been gradually escalating. The concern is if we dont respond, theyll continue to escalate. Bill what is your sense about this drone . You think about drone technology. What can it do to change warfare. You think about how you counter a drone as well. Bill theyre very difficult to detect. Until its practically too late. Its absolutely in irans playbook to use drones because its an inexpensive warfare. You can hide where they originate from and gives them many opportunities. They launched a lot of drone attacks in saudi arabia to disrupt the oil flow. This most reportedly attack used cruise missiles. Bill i want to squeeze one other story in afghanistan. Another suicide bombing today. A motorcyclist. Killed a lot of people, too. What is your sense about the critical question as to if you keep forces in that country on behalf of the u. S. , what is the right number . Thats i think what the Administration Needs to figure out. Lets be clear. This is a zero sum game. In other words, the taliban is focussed on targeting the democratic process in afghan. The more the government has to defends themselves from these Suicide Attacks, the less resources that they have to defend themselves and mount Counter Terrorism operations on which their security and ours rely. I think the Administration Needs to find a sweet spot. The minimum number of troops that we need for grows threats so theyre not here in the United States. Thats the challenge. Thanks, dan. The lawyer has stopped his efforts to get his client released after the prosecution came forward with key new evidence. The attorney explaining the move saying it was the only possible decision as theres new information. So bring everybody back to this story that we were so on when it first started happening and bringing us back to where we are now. 18 and 19 years old, this particular attorney was representing one of the teenagers that is accused of playing a role in the death of this italian Police Officer. Theyre being held. What is the new evidence that has him backing off of getting his relief . Its not so much hes backing off the release. Lawyers are obligated to advocate for the release of their clients obviously unless the argument is frivolous. Theres a side foot note. Defense lawyers and discussing an agreed to release. That is worth ten times advocacy. What may have happened and just speculating, they were discussing a possible release and the prosecutor saw the new evidence. So please hold off briefly. That may be what happened. No lawyer wants to be quoted as im not advocating for my clients release to the case itself. They said there was a confession. Its hotly disputed. They said that they may have been blind folded. B, ten times more importantly is yes, i stabbed him. You confessed. Not necessarily. You can stab somebody in selfdefense. The fact that i stabbed him is not despositive. The next thing is, the two teens are claiming they didnt know they were Police Officers. What happened was, they were holding a backpack of a guy who had steered them to someone to buy drugs from. The sale turned out to be aspirin. Th they were upset. They said we have your backpack. Well give it back if you pay us 100 euros. They didnt realize they called police and the officers showed up. Its hotly disputed if they identified themselves as officers, if the teens knew they were officers. The fact is theres a selfdefense claim which is we were being jumped and attacked by people and we didnt know who they were. Sandra they were arrested in july. They have been held since then. Yes. Sandra are they getting a fair investigation based on what youre seeing play out . Always hard to say. You had a vicious stabbing, multiple stab rounds. Seven inch knife, et cetera. Theyve been detained. Its not uncommon. Youre asking a very good question. Are they getting fair process. A broken record point. You have to get a really fair examination on this issue of whether they knew they were Police Officers. You need a really fair investigation about their supposed confession. And by the way, the last foot note you can throw in, it took 15 minutes for the ambulance to arrive. That doesnt exonerate anybody of anything. At the same time, many experts are saying that a quicker response may have removed the death in the case. So theres a lot of open questions and all we can do is hope that they will be examined fairly obviously. Sandra so there could be some back room negotiations happening absolutely. Sandra see well see what happens. Thanks. Bill thanks, doug. Apple making a big investment in the Company Supplying shatter proof glasses for iphones. Brett larson is live in harrisburg, kentucky. Hi, brett. Hi, bill. We are inside the corning plant where the glass has been made since a little after 2006 when the first iphone hit store shelves. This is where the magic is happening right now. We have the pieces of glass coming off the assembly line. We have kinds of the mix that makes it all happen. Weve got this is the recipe that makes this glass. These are the pieces of glass similar to those coming off of the assembly line. You can see it is very thin and very sturdy. Then, of course, that ends up inside this. This is the new iphone 11 pro. It is just one of the hundreds of ingredients that go into making this glass. The other ingredients being the people that work here at the corning factory that just got another 250 Million Investment from apples advanced research fund. We talk to coo Jeff Williams and why they invested in this corning plant. You spend time here, you see people that take great care and pride in the work theyre doing. And this is just one of 35 manufacturing facilities in the United States that apple works with that got the 250 million. Thats on top of 200 million that they got in 2017. And the story of how kind of all of this came about, that first iphone that steve jobs showed us on stage in 2007 actually had a plastic display on it. It got scratched. That is what led to the phone call from corning and made them make the super gorilla glass now on the surface of over six billion devices in the world, all of that glass come from here in the middle of bluegrass country.
