That person is kentucky senator rand paul back home in bowling green. Senator, good friday morning to you. Thanks for coming back here. What is your next move, senator . You know, if there was ever something worth filibustering it is for the bill of rights. What we have is a program called the fisa act, are you supposed to be the grant of power is to spy on foreigners and foreign lands. Im all for that. We need to protect our country. But we dont use the constitution for these foreigners. We grab up all their information. A couple of years ago there was a report that we recorded all of the phone calls in italy in one month. So we have this enormous capacity to record phone calls. Not just who you call but also the content of the phone call. In the process of this, millions of americans are recorded in there so if the president calls a european leader or the russian leader, chinese leader, the president s phone call is recorded in this. If i call a foreign leader. If you call a journalist in the fox bureau in europe or the middle east your phone call could be in this database. In the amendments we authorize the program and we never interrupt the collection of foreign data on foreigners. What we do is say that if americans are accidentally caught up in it. This is about americans, not foreigners. This is about americans. If americans are accidentally caught up in this, if you want to look at their stuff, you have to have a warrant. Here is the problem with paul ryan and his ilk and all these people, their reform bill makes it worse. In their reform bill they say that information collected on americans can be used for anything, tax evasion, your grandson smoking pot somewhere, any of these minor things that happen in our country that usually you are protected by the constitution, theyve gathered this information with no constitutional protection. It is awful what they want to do. Bill do you filibuster next week . I dont think you can stop it, can you . The only way a filibuster succeeds you have to get to 41 votes. Part of the reason you speak for a while, sometimes for a long while, part of the reason you make arguments is because its an important issue. If you can convince 41 colleagues. What would happen if we dont pass this we would go back to the negotiating table and say we want more protections for americans and they would have to compromise. Bill should we expect a filibuster from you next week . Yes, there will be a filibuster. Bill you said there will be an immigration deal and very optimistic. Do you feel the same given the comments that were apparently said at the white house during that meeting yesterday . I still think that its something that the democrats are driven to want to fix for daca. Many republicans are willing to meet them halfway and have a compromise. And i think the democrats acknowledge they arent going to get a fix for daca unless they do something for

It will have to involve getting rid of the diversity lottery and going to a meritbased immigration where we get the best and brightist that come our country and getting rid of chain migration. I still think that its something that the democrats are driven to want to fix for daca. Many republicans are willing to meet them halfway and have a compromise. And i think the democrats acknowledge they arent going to get a fix for daca unless they do something for
Border Security. It will have to be significant
Border Security improvements. It will have to involve barriers and walls. It will have to involve getting rid of the diversity lottery and going to a meritbased immigration where we get the best and brightist that come our country and getting rid of chain migration. I think we still get there if the democrats are willing to compromise and negotiate. Bill have a good weekend. Rand paul back home in bowling green, kentucky. Well see you very soon. Sandra attorney general
Jeff Sessions is officially investigating the
Obama Administration after a bombshell new report reveals what they may have done to get the iran nuke deal through. We will speak to an

Jeff Sessions now creating an
Investigation Team that will focus on
Drug Trafficking by the iranbacked militant group hezbollah. The move comes after a bombshell report claiming that a similar investigation into hezbollah was soft pedaled during the
Obama Administration in order to get that
Iran Nuclear Deal through. That original report coming from politico titled the secret back story of how obama let hezbollah off the hook. Joining us now josh meyers. He is the
Investigative Reporter for politico who broke this story. Thank you for coming on this morning. Your report reveals a lot of things. First i want to get your thoughts after you found out that
Jeff Sessions, the attorney general, would then be officially investigating the
Obama Administration as a result of this 26page report that you wrote. Thanks, sandra. I think this is good news. The attorney general a couple of weeks ago right after the story was posted said that he wanted to launch an investigation into what the
Obama Administration did, how these investigations, prosecutions, extraditions and so forth were soft pedaled. The story didnt say they did it specifically to protect the iran deal. What happened was that because they were so determined to get the iran deal there were a lot of things that happened that had this as the sort of perhaps unintended, maybe intended consequence. It is a little more complicated. The news yesterday i think is being greeted much more positively by the front line agents because they would rather, as much as they want to get answers as to what happened to project cassandra that was derailed, they want to move forward and look at whatever they can do to resurrect these cases, go after dozens of super facilitator theyve identified and help basically take the fight to the enemy. Sandra the attorney general in his statement when he announced this investigation into the
Obama Administration said this, the
Justice Department will leave no stone unturned to eliminate threat to our citizens from terrorist organizations and stem the tide of the devastating drug crisis. What did you learn what they may have done, the
Obama Administration, in order to push this iran deal through . What did your report reveal . Sandra, this is all very complicated stuff. The story as you noted is 13,000 words. There is a lot of nuance that sometimes get lost in the headlines. What happened was you had a
Multiagency Task force project cassandra based at the dea and there were many instances when they were trying to go after some of these guys, including hezbollahs chief envoy to tehran the state sponsor that these guys that there was a force field of protection around these guys sometimes when they were arrested overseas they couldnt get them extradited, sometimes investigations or prosecutions were delayed, derailed, undermined and so forth. They want to they do believe there are dozens of cases that didnt go forward, a couple of them actually did go forward only after the
Trump Administration took office. So again what they want to do is basically dust off the case files and try to go after these guys. The problem is that youve lost a lot of precious time, a lot of the brain trust that people behind project cassandra were transferred to other positions or left government entirely and the people that were witnesses and even the suspects the trail has gone cold. The question is going to be how much of this stuff can you get back into play . Sandra as youve been detailing just how long this piece is 26 pages in the first page you make one of your strongest points, the point we need to get to here. That is quote you write but as project cassandra reached higher into the hierarchy of the conspiracy obama officials through a series of roadblocks in its way. Those roadblocks you have begun to describe to us. You say are according to dozens of interviews, most that were given in complete secrecy. Government documents you went through records. How did you go about your reporting of this . What were the roadblocks . The reporting of this wasnt easy and i really commend and thank politico for letting me have the time to pursue this. It did take months of time, dozens of interviews and so forth. You will note a lot of the people are on the record with this, which is somewhat unusual. The roadblocks i think were many and i had done an earlier story in april about counter proliferation investigations that did suffer a similar fate under the
Obama Administration. So you had individual cases that were not that did not move forward and front line agents and prosecutors believe that they were in some cases sandbagged. One case in particular against this top envoy they sent a prosecution memo down to main justice for approval and the u. S. Attorney in new york and his special team of
International Terrorism and narcotics prosecutors wanted a prosecution and it was turned down by the
Justice Department. You also had whether they werent pressing for extradition, they never leaned on the government of lebanon to agree to extradition of some of these people. A lot of these guys are moving around lebanon pretty openly these days. Sandra you are getting praise from some, senator ben sasse is praising the decision by
Jeff Sessions saying it is
National Security 101. We have to hunt down the terrorists who
Fund Terrorism with drug money. Well see what they find. Thank you for coming on this morning. Bill 9 30 now. In new york
President Trump floating the possibility of recording these white house meetings denying making derogatory comments during those immigration talks. Well tell you about that in a moment. How will that impact negotiations to get an immigration deal done . Does it affect it at all . The white house rejecting a plan with some bipartisan support. There has not been a deal reached yet. However, we still think we can get there and were very focused on trying to make sure that that happens. The president has been clear about what his priorities are. To fetch a pail of water. All because of a burst water pipe in their house that ruined the
Hardwood Floors in their kitchen. Luckily the
Geico Insurance agency had helped them with
Homeowners Insurance and the inside of their house was repaired and floors replaced. Jack and jill no longer have to fetch water. They now fetch sugarfree vanilla lattes with almond milk. Call geico and see how affordable
Homeowners Insurance can be. Sandra
President Trump slamming a bipartisan immigration deal proposed by lawmakers at the white house yesterday. He also denied he made a vulgar comment during the meeting to describe immigration from haiti and other countries. The president tweeting this morning never said anything derogatory about haitians other than haiti is obviously a very poor and troubled country. Never said take them out. Made up by dems. I have a wonderful relationship with haitians. Probably should record future meetings. Unfortunately no trust. Lets bring in our panel. Juan williams political analyst and author of we the people and matt schlapp former white house political director. Matt ill give you the floor to respond to take your pick, where do you want to begin . The president slamming down the deal or that the choice of words . Okay, first of all the president is saying that he didnt say these things. I think thats good because i think it does we have to be careful. People are proud of where they come from. But here are the facts. The facts are i dont know anybody who spent two weeks on the beach in haiti. It is a country that has incredible problems both with its government structure and everything else. All these journalists out there attacking the president , what he is really trying to say is this which is we have for instance these el salvadorians say ill stop renewing their protective status and send them home. What the deal was in the oval office was to bring that as part of the immigration deal. The president said look, i told you what we can do. Daca with wall funding, ending chain migration and ending the diversity lottery system. Dont bring in these other issues or else you will blow up the whole thing. He wanted to make it clear. I hope the president learned a lesson. When the democrats and their staff are in the oval office, they will say and leak anything to harm you politically and they did that. Sandra to be clear, matt, fox news confirmed his choice of words in that meeting. Juan, to the president s point in his tweet maybe he should televise all these just in case people are getting his message wrong or his use of a particular word was meant in a different way. Maybe he should put the tv cameras on like he started the week doing. Remember that bipartisan meeting that seemed so optimistic and positive and instructive and it has taken a wild turn of events this week. That started out as an effort by the
White House Team to demonstrate that the president was competent, no question about his fitness to perform his duties, questions that had been raised in the
Michael Wolff book and now you have at the end of the week were thinking gosh, again, comments, going off the cuff. My response to matt. I dont think anybody has doubts about the troubles that beset places like haiti. When you attach it to the people coming from it is when you then see even republicans like mia love whose parents came from haiti say its just unacceptable language coming from the president of the
United States. Sandra how about
Nancy Pelosis comments, though . The
House Minority leader, five white guys she referred to leading the talks on
Immigration Reform. Didnt go over too well i should let everybody know, right . The five white guys, this is her weekly press briefing. Seemed to be a really uncomfortable moment for everybody in that room. She kind of tried to go through and reference the east coast burger chain five guys by saying are they going to open a hamburger stand next or what . It doesnt seem like she is talking about the issues here. It was a real attack on hoyer who is an anglo but cares very much about coming up with a deal that gives a deal on daca. So i think look, we all know were coming up on
Martin Luther king day. It was the idea we should be a color
Blind Society and judge people by the content of their character. If five white guys in congress who agree, a couple of them agree with nancy pelosi and the policies are negotiating it shouldnt matter the color of the skin or what their policy goals are. I think in america were sick and tired of this saturation of race. Lets talk about the policies. The president is trying to get to an immigration deal. Hoyer is trying to get to an immigration deal. I dont care their racial origin or genitalia i care about the policy theyre pushing. Sandra hoyer responded to those comments saying the comment is offensive. Im committed insuring dreamers are protected and welcome anyone to the table who wants to get this done. Lets give nancy pelosi the benefit of the doubt. No one there that had any hispanic background or relationship to the community. Sandra does it mean white men dont want to get something done . Matt is right. You can have people of any color goodwill knowledgeable on the subject discussing it. Even the four from the
Congress Plus the chief of staff, mr. Kelly, said lets get
Robert Menendez in here, the senator from new jersey, hispanic background. Lets get somebody in here looking at the language, sensitive to the issue, familiar with it in detail because of the human toll that comes from changes in immigration law. Sandra as far as where we are this morning, matt, the president is tweeting this, quote, because of the democrats not being interested in life and safety, daca has now taken a big step backwards the president writes. The dems will threaten shutdown. Theyre really shutting down the military. Will the president s recent choice of words get in the way and give democrats more leverage when it comes to funding the government by this deadline next friday . I hope so, sandra. I think we ought to be awfully careful before we rush through a deal on immigration. We need to really think it through. I wouldnt mind if they took a lot of time this year. I also think that the democrats blew it. Lindy graham blew it when he came in there with the extra issues. They blew it. They are expanding what they want the republicans to accept and thats a mistake if they want a deal on daca. Sandra well have to leave it there, gentlemen. Thank you for being here this morning. Good to see you. Bill 20 minutes before the hour. More on this in a morning. Mercedes schlapp is our guest from the white house. Well talk to her in a moment. The car racing a river of mud and sliding its way through it. Iconic image from the devastation in california. Were live on the scene. First here is the driver inside of that car you just saw. To feel the rocks and boulders hitting against the car i thought this car is done or maybe were done today. Sandra walmart planning to close dozens of sams club stores announcing 63 locations will close while planning to concert some to
Distribution Centers in order to keep up with fulfilling online orders and they also announced theyre raising their hourly wages to 11 an hour and handing out bonuses of up to 1,000. Bill weve heard that from a lot of companies. So here we go on that. Stay tuned. The dow by the way is flying up triple digits this morning on trading so far. Watch that. 119, 121. I mean, when will it stop . You just heard that fox news alert now. President trump denying he used vulgar language in describing certain countries while talking about a potential
Immigration Reform deal yesterday at the white house. So then is a deal still possible . Apparently the president was presented with an idea with the democratic leadership that didnt meet his minimum of an immigration deal he would accept and it went from there. Mercedes schlapp on the north lawn. How are you doing in your new role. Congratulations. Good morning. Moments ago the president tweeted this. The language used by me at the daca meeting was tough but not the language used. What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made. A big setback for daca. First of all the language. Has it been reported inaccurately . There has been selective leaks, inaccurate reporting on this. I think quite frankly when you are looking at this is the fact that this issue on immigration is a tough issue that requires tough talk and these members of congress came in, the democrats came in with a bad deal and it didnt include the priorities of the president that we needed in terms of ending chain migration and ensuring we eliminate the visa lottery program. As we know, the president this week had a brilliant move in bringing in the press in that 55minute meeting. That transparent meeting with bipartisan members of congress to talk about immigration priorities and get moving on this securing the border deal. Bill well see if they get that. Are you saying he did not use what has been reported . Is that not true yes or no . I was not in that meeting. What i can tell you is that he made it very clear that language was not the language was not used and it is very clear that this is the democrats trying to derail this process and were getting closer to the point what they are focused on having these talks about shutting down the government which i think presents an incredible problem dealing with the fact were trying to fund the troops. Bill just to be clear the official statement from the white house is that language was not used. Do i have that correct . I was not in the room. It was very clear that he in his tweet as his tweet stands said the language was not used. Orrin hatch said i look forward to getting an explanation. We welcome the best and brightest in the world regardless of their country of origin. I dont think you would disagree with that. What would you say to senator hatch just to clear this up or clarify it or get beyond it . Its very clear that we want immigrants to come to this country regardless of their background in terms of making sure that we focus in on what their skills are and what they can contribute to the economy. This is why like in other countries that we want to see meritbased system. Thats very clear that the system we have right now is that one in 15 immigrants coming into this country are the ones that are coming that have skills. We need to change that. We need to allow for a system where were able to match the skills of the immigrants coming in to then match what we need in terms of contributing to the economy as well as ensuring we dont depress wages and also ensuring that were helping the
American Workers which is where the president is focused. Bill i dont have much time but two other topics that are very important today. Wall street journal quoted this from yesterday. Probably a have a very
Good Relationship with kim jongun. I have relationship with the people i think you people are surprised. Wow. Has anything changed with pyongyang after that comment . Clearly we continue with a maximum
Pressure Campaign on the north korean dictator. It is very clear we just saw that china has sharply dropped its trade with north korea and were making progress in ensuring that north korea changes its behavior. We know that the goal here is to denuclearize north korea and i think there is one of the things the u. S. Has been able to successfully do as well as
President Trump is ensuring that other countries we want other countries to do more in working on putting financial and diplomatic pressure on north korea. Bill just to be clear about this. Has the president spoken with kim jongun the north
Korean Leader . We dont have a comment on that right now in terms of whether he has spoken to him. Bill is it possible . We dont have a comment on that right now. Bill last topic. It has to do with our oldest ally. Here is what came of this. Reason i canceled my trip to london im not a big fan of the
Obama Administration having sold the best located and finest embassy in london for peanuts to build one in a new location for 1. 2 billion. Wanted me to cut ribbon, no. I understand that decision was made by president bush 43. I think the bigger point is this. Quickly tell us what is the state of our relationship with england, our oldest ally . Is it in good shape or not . England continues to be obviously one of our oldest allies in working with them especially on fighting terrorism and taking down isis. We have a close relationship with them in england. The president believed this building was very expensive. He is not going to be attending a
Ribbon Cutting ceremony. He is here focused working in the
United States for the american people. Bill are we in
Good Standing with london or not, yes or no . Yes, were in
Good Standing with england. Bill thank you for your time. Out of time for now. Back after this. No, i picked the wrong insurance company. With new car replacement™, well replace the full value of your car plus depreciation. Liberty mutual insurance. But when we brought our daughter home, that was it. Now i have nicoderm cq. Santa Barbara county, 17 people have been killed. This video might be the most shocking video at all. Now were hearing from the driver of this car. I wasnt aware what kind of danger was coming down that hill, you know, because the water got worse as the minutes went by. You could feel the car lift up when the wall of water from behind hit the car. Sandra adam housley live in montecito, california with the latest there. That video came from 60 or 70 miles from where we are in burbank, california. More water came down here in montecito 5 and 6 inches that caused the destruction behind me. A little good news, the missing number weve been told has dropped from 43 down to between 5 and 7. So thats still going to fluctuate. 17 people were killed from these mudslides including four children as young as the age of 3. You can see the destruction here. We spent a lot of time in these neighborhoods over the year in montecito, a community of 10,000 people. To see this destruction is unbelievable. The home here as you can see is one of 65 weve been told were destroyed. The sheriff says even with all this mud and the time thats passed there is still a little bit of hope some people might be found alive. Take a listen. In disaster circumstances there have been many miraculous stories of people lasting many days and we certainly are searching for a miracle right now. That miracle tends to go away with every passing minute. It is very cold overnight. The mud has been here now for a number of days. 462 homes were damaged. 65 destroyed. A glimmer of good amidst the bad news theyre now missing 5 to 7 people. To give it back to you, were several miles from where the fire burned. The fact the destruction is so big here is truly hard to even fathom when you drive around this area. Sandra huge rescue efforts do remain. 43 people still missing. Adam housley, thank you. Bill were awaiting a big decision now from the president commanderinchief any moment on this
Iran Nuclear Deal. How will he weigh in as the deadline to waive economic sanctions quickly approaches. In fact, that day is upon us. Top of the hour come on back. Iran Nuclear Deal. Welcome to a new hour of americas newsroom. Im sandra smith. Did you catch a few words there at the top of the hour . That i said on mic and we didnt know . Something about
Chris Wallace. Sandra another big hour coming up. Bill good morning, happy friday. Im bill hemmer. President about to we expect him to recertify the iran deal. It hasnt happened yet after meeting yesterday with
Rex Tillerson and defense secretary james mattis as iran cracks down on protests with reports the regime has arrested thousands, 4,000, in fact. Treasury secretary
Steve Mnuchin saying new sanctions could be on the way. Are you expecting any new sanctions on iran to come through treasury . I am expecting new sanctions on iran. We continue to look at them. Weve rolled them out and i think its you can expect there will be more sanctions coming. Sandra rich edson is live at the state department. All this keeps the
United States in the
Iran Nuclear Deal. Good morning, rich. Thats a decision today. Is the
United States in or out of the
Iran Nuclear Agreement . Were expecting the administration to continue lifting sanctions against iran relating to the
Nuclear Agreement but extend other sanctions outside the framework. A strategy the result of conversations that began according to officials at the beginning of last weekend at camp david and continued during the week at the white house. This is how it works. The president can keep the
United States in the
Iran Nuclear Agreement has to continue waiving sanctions related to the
Iran Nuclear Agreement. Thats the u. S. End of the bargain. In the does that he can also increase sanctions outside the
Iran Nuclear Deal. The administration has done that before and as
Steve Mnuchin said the u. S. Will continue doing that again. That is for irans
Ballistic Missile launchs, its support of terrorism around the region. Administration will continue doing that. It can increase sanctions and keep the u. S. In the deal at the same time. Sandra the president indicating he is open to talking to north korea . The president suggesting that perhaps he would have a
Good Relationship with the north korean dictator kim jongun. This is the result of an interview that he did with the wall street journal. In that publication he said i probably have a very
Good Relationship can kim jongun. I have relationships with people i think you people are surprised. The journal asked if he had spoken to kim jongun. The president refused to comment saying he wont say if he has or hasnt. Now the official line from the
United States on negotiations with north korea is that north korea and the kim jongun regime must substantially change their behavior. They have to stop launching
Ballistic Missiles and stop
Testing Nuclear weapons and show theyre willing to discuss their
Nuclear Weapons program because the u. S. Goal here is to get rid of north koreas
Nuclear Weapons. Thus far
Officials Say there is no signal they have done so. Sandra rich edson at the state department for us. Bill watch that story and watch this one, too. A group of senators, republicans and democrats, working on a daca deal will go back to the drawing board after the president rejected their initial proposal. The president meeting with senators yesterday and now denying he made derogatory comments on immigrants from certain countries during those talks. Here is
Mercedes Schlapp 15 minutes ago here on our program. We want to say meritbased system. Thats very clear that the system we have right now is that 1 in 15 immigrants coming into this country are the ones that are coming that have skills. We need to change that. We need to allow for a system where were able to match the skills of the immigrants coming in to then match what we need in terms of contributing to the economy as well as ensuring that we dont depress wages. Bill that was
Mercedes Schlapp a moment ago. Dick durbin is a senator from illinois. He spoke in chicago moments ago was in that meeting. He says the president did use it. Nonetheless mike lets talk about what we know about the agreement in principle. Have they gotten an agreement in principle among senators . Among a small
Group Senators working this issue for four months trying to come up with a deal for these young people brought to this country illegally by their parents. They say they all have a plan and are now selling it to their colleagues. Weve come up with an idea. We wont share it with you yet. We want to share it with our colleagues to see if we can get more republicans and democrats behind the proposal. I have think that will matter to the president. The president conducted himself very well a couple of days ago. He talked about secure borders and compassion. The white house and leading conservatives are quick to say there is no deal and likely need more time. If it continues to allow chain migration, the effect of that would be amnesty for millions of people here illegally. Thats fundamentally inconsistent with what we promised the american people. And i dont think its made better by a few token or fig leaf
Border Security measures. Six yes votes in the senate is a start but they need 60 to pass a bill. Bill what are the talks taking place trying to tackle . How would you line up the issues there, mike . The one endorsed by the white house is bipartisan with top players from the house and senate. That group is mccarthy and hoyer from the house and cornyn and durbin from the senate and
Top Democrats note
President Trump also wants a deal. He supports the dreamers, daca he calls it. Thats okay. And he wants to have some
Border Security. We all know we have a responsibility to secure our borders. So we could find
Common Ground there. Thats all possible. I think people of goodwill are coming together on both sides of the aisle and both houses of congress to get the job done. House buyin is critical. It passed the senate but died in the house years ago. Sandra joining me now to discuss all this
Chris Wallace anchor of
Fox News Sunday. Good morning to you. Whats everybody talking about in washington this morning . Well, the president s remarks. I say, you know, he alleges that he didnt make the remarks but somebody who covered the white house for six years you really have to finetune. The specific thing he denies he said was why do we need more haitians, get them out. He has not specifically denied his very incendiary remark about we dont need more people from these shole countries. Thats the remark that has caused a firestorm as you just pointed out dick durbin who was in the meeting. The number two democrat in the senate said the president is lying and he did make those remarks. Sandra he is speaking at an mlk breakfast in chicago this morning. Well bring those comments to our audience when we get them. Here is how the president is going on the record this morning. In his most recent tweet says never said anything derogatory about haitians other than haiti is a very poor and troubled country. Never said take them out. Made up by dems. I have a wonderful relationship with haitians, probably should record future meetings, unfortunately no trust. That brings up a couple questions. Will there be a change . Will we see more tv cameras in the president s meetings . And second, i wonder, chris, if well hear more from the president as the day goes on. This clearly is not clearing things up this morning, his tweets. Look, you just have to use some common sense here. The president made these remarks. The meeting with dick durbin and other people was yesterday morning in the oval office. The word very quickly got out. This wasnt a meeting of the inner group at the white house, dick durbin was there. No love lost between him and the president. He quickly or somebody on the democratic side probably quickly put out what the president had said. They had what, i think its now had 18 hours since then to specifically deny it. It was all over cable news last night on all the channels. And it was never denied. The only thing that the white house said was that some politicians fight for foreign countries, this president fights for america. Very phraseworthy statement but didnt in any way deny the comments that the president allegedly had made. Common sense if he didnt say it and it was such an it took until the president tweeted this morning. Sandra democrats are not without criticism this morning, either, chris. Nancy pelosi said some interesting things about the five white guys talking about getting a deal done, the five white guys i called them, you know, she said are they going to open a hamburger stand next or what . Thats not going over with some even hoyer. He said i welcome anyone who wants to come to the table to get this done. Nancy pelosis joke, i guess some are saying that it was, didnt go over so well. It was a dumb remark. It was it represented the identity politics that democrats play. Instead of talking about the five individuals who are having this meeting it was the top vote counters in the house and senate both republican and democrat and also the chief of staff, john kelly, at the white house. It was a dumb remark and but i have to say in all fairness it is a parking ticket compared to what the president allegedly said. Sandra chris, weve got the sound of dick durbin speaking at the mlk breakfast in chicago this morning. He was in the room yesterday when
President Trump made those remarks and said that word and fair warning to our audience durbin does say the word in this sound bite. Lets listen. When i mentioned that fact to him he said haitians, do we need more haitians . And then he went on and started to describe the immigration from africa that was being protected in this bipartisan measure. Thats when he used these vile and vulgar comments calling the nations they come from [bleep] holes. The exact word used by the president. Not just once but repeatedly. That was the nature of this conversation. When it came to the issue of, quote, chain migration, i said to the president do you realize how painful that term is to so many people . Sandra that was senator dick durbin a few moments ago in chicago, chris. Ill remind everybody said the president said he didnt use that language. Dick durbin was in the room and he says he did. Again the president has not specifically denied that. He has specifically denied that he said why do we need more haitians, get them out. On the shole remark he hasnt specifically denied that. He said i didnt use the language they quoted. Specifically it was only the remark about the haitians. It is kind of an extraordinary moment when we have to caution viewers about language that the president apparently said in the oval
Office Writing off a whole country and a whole continent. Africa. It is pretty extraordinary. Sandra does it give democrats more leverage going into next week . Does this derail efforts to get
Immigration Reform done . Real quickly it does make it more complicated and people have their own views of
President Trump and they will continue to have those views. But this is going to make it harder for democrats to agree to a deal on daca and which they say has to be agreed to before they agree to keep funding the government and funding for the government runs out at midnight a week from tonight. Sandra
Chris Wallace. Well watch
Fox News Sunday this weekend. Thank you for coming on this morning. Bill check him out. 12 minutes past. Senator rand paul taking paul ryan to task over reauthorizing the fisa act. He said this last hour here. The best way i can describe what he said is disingenuous. We dont stop collection of the data. We reauthorize the program, we never interrupt the collection of foreign data on foreigners. Bill he is threatening to take action as the measure moves to the senate. Sean duffy is live on his reaction coming up here. Sandra also a top democrat nancy pelosi calling bonuses as a result of tax reform crumbs. What do you think about that, america . In terms of the bonus that
Corporate America received versus the crumbs that they are giving to workers to kind of put the schmooze on is so pathetic. It is so pathetic. Jimmys gotten used to his whole room smelling like sweaty odors. Yup, hes gone noseblind. He thinks it smells fine, but his mom smells this. Luckily theres febreze fabric refresher for all the things you cant wash. It finds odors trapped in fabrics and washes them away as it dries. And try pluggable febreze to continuously eliminate odors for up to 45 days of freshness. Pluggable febreze and fabric refresher. Two more ways to breathe happy. Thouse reauthorizing the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act otherwise known as fisa despite growing privacy concerns sending it on to the senate now. Senator rand paul earlier demanding more privacy protections for americans swept up in the surveillance of foreigners. Threatening a filibuster. This happened earlier on americas newsroom. If there was ever something worth filibustering it is for the bill of rights. What we have is a program called the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and are you supposed to be or the grant of power is to spy on foreigners in foreign lands. Im all for that. We need to protect our country. A lot of innocent people in here and it should not be searched for american data without a warrant. All were asking is go to a judge and have some evidence to get started. Warrants arent that difficult to get. Sandra joining us is wisconsin congressman sean duffy. He voted against reauthorization, which may come to the surprise of some. Why did you vote against it . Im somewhere between where rand paul and where the house bill ended up. Im with the jim sensenbrenner. We want to surveil would be american citizen terrorists talking to foreigners. Thats a good thing. We dont have enough protections in for the average american citizen who could get caught up requiring warrants to be had in the fisa courts so were protecting the
Fourth Amendment per rand pauls comments. I dont think we struck the right balance here. Not enough protections in the bill. I think rand paul can extract those modifications and changes if he threatens the filibuster. Sandra you heard he is going to filibuster. Our producer on capitol hill said hold on, he might not necessarily be able to do that without getting into the weeds. If he takes up a lot of time on the floor after the procedural vote it doesnt constitute a filibuster but a really long speech. This has been a bipartisan bill. Republican and democrats out of the house supported it. I imagine they would have the 60 vote threshold with both parties to pass the bill. Sandra there is no evidence that officials have abused section 702 and there is multilaird oversight that includes top
Officials Congress and fisa judges. The danger is that a left right that led to the failure to detect the 9 11 plot. No one wants to take away or erect barriers. We want to make sure our intelligence agencies can keep us safe. But again you want to make sure that you have american citizens not getting caught up in fisa and they might say we havent heard any evidence this section has been violated or abused. Yeah, we dont hear it until we hear it, right . Its top secret stuff. So thats why on the front end we have to make sure we have the right protections for law abiding american citizens who arent involved in terrorist activities but not erecting barriers for our intelligence agencies to keep us safe. Sandra i want to step back and look at this week. Crazy. Sandra you go back to the beginning of the week and it looked so productive. Bipartisan meeting happening in the white house, getting together talking about
Immigration Reform. An open dialogue, open conversation. Television cameras were in the room for 55 minutes. And then we come to the end of this week and weve got this language dispute. Did the president say it, did he not say it. Dick durbin said he said that nasty word talking about haitians coming into the country. What do you think . I think the president is frustrated. The selfappointed group of senators, six senators, half republican and half democrat come to the oval office with a deal that gives democrats everything on daca and doesnt give the president 10 of what he wanted with regard to
Border Security. Sandra you are in the president s camp it was a bad deal. Horrible deal. The president is frustrated. Used language i absolutely disagree with. Whatever you say in the oval office or on tv is public and youll be criticized for it. You cant say that with people who dont like him in the meeting. The bottom line we want to secure our border. When you give us 1. 6 billion and take 18 billion to secure the border, he cant buy into that. We talk about compassionate. We want to deal with the daca kids. We also dont want the next generation of daca kids to come in and have to go through what these daca kids have gone through. Keep us safe. Get rid of chain migration. There is a deal to be made but it might be more difficult after the comments from the white house. Sandra nice to see your fox friends this morning. She joining you on outnumbered today . Sandra yes. Bill many dreamers pinning their hopes on this immigration deal. Come back right after this. Your brain changes as you get older. But prevagen helps your brain with an ingredient originally discovered. In jellyfish. In clinical trials, prevagen has been shown to improve shortterm memory. Prevagen. The name to remember. President Trump in 2020 . That would be must see tv. The headline in
Bernie Goldbergs new oped. Will she or wont she . Is he or isnt he . A mania sweeping the nation if oprah is running for president and if donald trump is mentally fit. Check out his piece online. Live in miami today, how are you doing . I think you got a
Better Weather option between us today. Take a step back. The product over the last year has been pretty good. You want to decimate isis, you do it. You want to put pressure on north korea and iran you do it. Market is flying, unemployment is way down. Maybe the production of said product is one place where we can have an honest debate which is apparently whats going on again today. Go. Well, the production of saved product is that donald trump gets in the way of all the good news. Look, are there people in the media who want to play down the good news because they dont like him . Absolutely. But he gets in the way to the point that there is a mania sweeping washington and beyond and the mania isnt about whether he is fit for office. That ship has sailed. Liberal democrats and more than a few republicans think he is not fit for office. The mania comes down to is he down right crazy. The lead editorial in the new york times. Word for word is mr. Trump nuts . Then you have psychiatrists coming out of the woodwork who have never examined him, who have concluded that he is mentally unstable and dangerous. And then he pours fuel on the fire by tweeting these crazy things like my
Nuclear Button is bigger than little rocket mans
Nuclear Button. Thats why the production of the information is getting lost. The news is that the economy is better than ever, unemployment is low,
Consumer Confidence is high. But as long as he contributes to this mania of whether or not he is crazy, its not good for him, it is not good for the country. Bill you wrote about oprah this week and the power of likeability. You make a point about that when it comes to politics. I thought this quote from the wall street journal interview from yesterday was rather revealing. Here it is on screen. You see that a lot with me and then all of a sudden somebody is my best friend. I could give you 20 examples. You give me 30. Im a very flexible person. What does that say about the transactional nature of how this president approaches his job . Whether its banging on
Lindsey Graham a year half ago and now playing golf with him repeatedly. It says he doesnt take things personally. That he could dish it out and then when somebody dishes it back to him, he will tweet about it and all that but in the end if you call him names but pass his tax policy he is okay with that. But ill tell you this, since you brought up oprah and since i brought it up in the column, predictions are hard. Especially when they are about the future. The
Great American philosopher yogi berra said that. Ill make a prediction. If she decides to run. She is a smart woman and if she is as mart as i think she wont run because she doesnt need the grief. If she decides to run i think she will win. Donald trump won based on personality, not on policy. She could win the same way. And she has this likeability. Likeability is one of the most powerful forces in the entire universe. She is likable. Maybe not to some of the people watching us now and other trump supporters, but she is likable to ordinary americans for whom politics is not a big deal. And if there were a donald versus oprah race in 2020, that would be payperview stuff. Bill no question. You could raise a lot of money on that. I think she is running. Well see whether or not it happens. Really . Bill yes, i do believe that is the case. Have a great weekend, okay . Bernie goldberg from miami. Sandra congresswoman pelosi taking some heat after she calls tax reform bonuses to
American Workers crumbs. Is she out of touch with reality . Bill one woman becoming the victim of a heartbreaking scam targeting our men and women in uniform. It got to the point where it over consumed me and im left with nothing but shame. Whoooo. When it comes to travel, i sweat the details. Late checkout. Downalternative pillows. And of course, price. Tripadvisor helps you book a. Hotel without breaking a sweat. Because we now instantly. Search over 200 booking sites. To find you the lowest price. On the hotel you want. Dont sweat your booking. Tripadvisor. The latest reviews. The lowest prices. Sandra it has been our top story of the day. Democratic senator dick durbin speaking out about whether or not
President Trump actually made that vulgar comment yesterday during the immigration meeting. President trump denies using that word. Senator durbin was in the meeting and here is what he said. When i mentioned that fact to him he said haitians, do we need more haitians . And then he went on and started to describe the immigration from africa that was being protected in this bipartisan measure. Thats when he used these vile and vulgar comments calling the nations they come from [bleep]. Exact word used by the president. Not more, not just once but repeatedly. That was the nature of this conversation. When it came to the issue of quote chain migration, i said to the president do you realize how painful that term is to so many people . Sandra lots of uncertainty still when it comes to an actual immigration deal. President trump rejecting a pitch from bipartisan senators trying to protect dreamers and increase
Border Security. Many of those dreamers fear they could be deported. One of them is sharing her story with casey stiegel joining us now from dallas. Nearly 690,000 people think about that number, thats how many currently live in this country and are receiving daca benefits of some sort from the federal government. Thats more than the entire state of vermont and that is a large number. So lots of people on pins and needles over what
President Trump or congress will ultimately decide about daca, make changes to it, end it all together . Norma salazar is one of 113,000
Daca Recipients watching from the sidelines here in texas. This state right behind california has the second highest number of enrollees in the country. Salazars mother brought her to the u. S. Illegally from mexico but she was 10 years old at the time. Now 27 she has graduated from high school in texas, paid for her own college education, now working an office job, married with three children. If daca ends, she could be deported. If people could see that, you know, were human. We arent criminals. We, you know, we deserve a chance to be here. We are americans. This is our home. Critics argue they arent americans because they didnt come here legally and the time to stop using taxpayer money to fund it is now. Executive director at the center of
Immigration Studies tells me the daca program is a giant financial burden on the u. S. Economy. Exact figures of how much it costs really unclear. So we wont name them but it is in the billions. Education, healthcare, other expenses and while he says he has sympathy for people in situations with children like norma, but that doesnt give them a free pass he contends. Having a u. S. Born kid does not exempt you from the immigration laws. Nor does it mean necessarily that your family is going to be separated because you simply take your child with you when you go home. There are thousands of u. S. Citizen kids who are now in mexico because their parents either went home voluntarily or were deported. So not an easy topic clearly and some of the stakes are quite high. Sandra casey stiegel, thank you. Maybe its a crumb new live in
Pacific Heights or
San Francisco and you are married to paul pelosi. Maybe then its a crumb. For most people its real money. And they say by the way that trump doesnt have both oars in the water . Nancy has lost the oars and cant find the water sthe is so out of it. Bill
Laura Ingraham blasting nancy pelosi after she called tax reform bonuses given
American Workers crumbs. Mere crumbs,
Leslie Marshall syndicated radio host and steve hilton. They are mere crumbs . I know leslie if you are making 80,000 in ohio raising four kids and get 2,000 a year in your pocket, i think most americans would take that. What do you say . Well, i say we have to look at the net gain, okay . And thats what my accountant tells me. If you dont have the person deductions that you have been able to take in the past and you get some in february back but it is not in the hundreds and then you do a cross reference as to how much you are losing as opposed to how much youre gaining, if you gain 50 or 75 in february thats helpful. To some it is crumbs when later you actually in the net get less because you dont have the itemized deductions that you had in the past. So i dont think i think her wording is insensitive. I think the wording is insensitive but i dont think she is really wrong. Bill steve hilton, what do you make of what appears to many to be a condescending remark about the state of the economy for
Many Americans everyday folks . Its so elitist. Thats exactly what it is condescending. It doesnt recognize the fact that anything that is more money in your pocket is desperately needed after decades literally decades where for most working people their incomes have been going down. People will benefit from this tax bill not just from the actual tax change, but from the impact it has on the overall economy. You are already seeing wages going up in a way that hasnt been seen for decades. But there is a broader political point here. Nancy pelosi and the democrats are separate for this tax reform to fail. Good news for the american worker, bad news for democrats. Theyll keep repeating this line about the tax bill not having any impact. It doesnt matter what they say. The real impact will be felt by
American Workers in their pockets regardless of these stupid politics. Bill interesting point steve makes. I dont see anybody giving the money back. If you can find that person well put them on tv. Certainly. The working class has as
Many Democrats as they do republicans, perhaps more. I dont agree with steve. Im a democrat and i want us to have a robust economy no matter who is in the oval office whether i voted for them or not and i wouldnt give the money back. If im getting 50 in february but then later in the year im actually having to pay more because of the tax code and lets not just dismiss how confusing this is. This is supposed to be more simplistic. Will those people get it back . You do some things easier online, then for others you revert back to the old form. I think it is just bill if you have an idea for
Small Business start it because youll make a lot of money from this tax plan. The reason i canceled by trip to london having sold the best location in london for peanuts and build one in a bad location. Wanted me to cut ribbon, no. He wont go. I think the decision was made by bush 43. What is the state of our relationship with london at this point . First of all im very happyly living in california. Im not an expert on the latest moves in the
London Property market. Whatever the real reason it is a good idea for the president not to go because at the moment whatever the relationship between may and the president and i think basically you have a few ups and downs over the odd tweet but it is a strong relationship that will endure. He is really unpopular with british people and if the president went to london at this point all it would be would be an excuse for a huge demonstration. It wouldnt really do any good and i think he is very smart to stay away. Bill leslie, do you have a thought on that . He loves big crowds though, steve. Maybe he should go just for that. No, just kidding. Look, im not british and i dont have the lovely accent that steve and so many others have from the u. K. But he is not liked. Everything i heard and saw on the media this morning over the pond was we hate the bloke. And they do. But i dont agree with steve. I think actually its one of the reasons he should go. Some people say he in person is charge. I havent met the president , i dont know. And also because he said some very disparaging things about londons mayor who is a muslim. The president could take the high road and show that perhaps some of his tweets and his bark is not as bad as his bite. Bill its been rescheduled. Thanks to both of you. Nice to have you on. Sandra a story weve been following. An engineer fired by google now suing for discrimination. He will join us next to lay out his case. Be little, discriminate conserve tif, and white men. Thats not acceptable. With

Attract new customers. Thats when fastsigns recommended fleet graphics. Yeah now business is rolling in. Get started at fastsigns. Com. Sandra it has been a story that weve been following. Former
Google Engineer james damore was fired after writing a memo that slammed the company as an ideological echo chamber. He has now filed a
Class Action Lawsuit claiming the tech giant discriminates against conservatives and white men. James damore joins us now along with civil rights attorney harmeet dhillon. Thank you to you both for coming on and telling your story this morning. James, in your lawsuit you allege what about discrimination . I went to several diversity programs and they all told me the same thing that they are actually taking race and gender into account when they are hiring, which is illegal. Sandra and that is serving to benefit women and nonconservatives and nonwhites . And nonasian. Sandra what is your evidence of this . Ill turn to your attorney here in a minute. What is the evidence that you are laying out to prove your case that google is discriminating against white male conservatives . Sandra, there are pim women included in the case as well. The evidence is throughout our very lengthy and detailed complaint, it is 161 pages long and includes a number of screen shots from managers at google who talk about men and white people being toxic and toxic masculinity, etc. We have an anecdote in there of two senior females managers leading a meeting which
Business Units that didnt have enough women in them were booed and there are other incidents of harassment. Google maintains black lists among various managers of people who are conservative and who voted for the president and they also threaten to black list people throughout
Silicon Valley if they views dont conform with the left wing views. We have a lot of evidence. Sandra google has responded with a general statement on all this on your lawsuit saying we look forward to defending against mr. Damores lawsuit in court. They disproportionately employ male. 56 of domestic employees are white. Doesnt that work against your case, james . If i can jump in and james can add. The fact that they dont have, you know, those numbers are not relevant. The numbers that are relevant how are they getting to 50 50. Knows are their goals . If they are using quotas its not legal. James has pointed out in some other interviews only 20 of the engineers out of
Software School these days in the
United States are women. So if you want 50 50 you will have to do that with some very aggressive efforts. Sandra some people responded and you can weigh in on all the response youre getting and continue to get which im sure is a lot. The initial letter you wrote while still employed by the company and you were fired for writing, you talked about the alienation of conservatives at the company but also blamed biological differences for the relative lack of women in technology. As a result you dont have to look far to find people who are saying you are against women and dont think they are as good as men in the technology workplace. I never say that women actually they are just as good. It is just that fewer women tend to be interested in technology which leads to men and women choosing
Different Things for their career and i actually lay out several ways in which we can make the workplace more well coming for women so actually increase the gender diversity at google without illegal discrimination. Sandra whats the response youre getting today for all of this . A mix of blind hate and a lot of support, though. Because this isnt just happening at google. This is in many workplaces people can really empathize of the shutting down of conservative thought and illegal discrimination. Sandra were you surprised that google fired you for writing this letter . I was very surprised actually. Because if you read it, it is clear i was trying to help google and they just wouldnt have any of it and they just smeared me and fired me. Sandra clearly harmeet you have taken him on as a client and do you believe he can win . Yes, i do. I dont take cases that i dont think has merit. There arent just james. Dozens of other peoples stories included in our lawsuit. I have gotten an overwhelming response. A lot of people are calling us to join the lawsuit including a lot of people interviewed for jobs but didnt get jobs at google because of their gender, race or political viewpoint. This is throughout
Silicon Valley. It is beyond google. Sandra well have more in just a moment. Bill a registered nurse looking online for relationship gets scammed instead. The man she thought she was talking to a member of the u. S. Military is also a victim. A friend told me about an app that was fun. A huge amount of attention. At 40 her life had become unsatisfying and so when she received a private message with this mans photo, she responded. So this photo and the photos that followed really held some promise for you. Yes. We were going to have a life together. She have is a registered nurse in a western state. We are disguising her identity because she is afraid a man who sent her the photo was not the man in the photo. And ended up scamming her out of 50,000. He ended up with your personal information, your personal photos, and to this day he is threatening to release this if you expose him. I loved this person so yes, he got pictures, too. The f. B. I. Says love scams comprise some of the
Fastest Growing crime on the internet. Over one billion dollars was taken from people. More often than not that wrong person appears to be a man in uniform, according to this facebook page, military romance scams compiled hundreds of photos of military men whose photos have been stolen, men like gabe. Your photos have been used to scam our nurse but dozens of people. I get 10 messages a week asking me do you remember talking to me on this or that website . Its not me. His photos are a treasure trove for scammers who simply cut and paste his life to create an alternative life. One that always includes needing money. I just got to the point where the debt overconsumed me and im left with nothing but shame. Bill watch it. A really good warning to everybody online. Douglas kennedy. Thank you for that report today. Sandra
