The story didnt say they did it specifically to protect the iran deal. What happened was that because they were so determined to get the iran deal there were a lot of things that happened that had this as the sort of perhaps unintended, maybe intended consequence. It is a little more complicated. The news yesterday i think is being greeted much more positively by the front line agents because they would rather, as much as they want to get answers as to what happened to project cassandra that was derailed, they want to move forward and look at whatever they can do to resurrect these cases, go after dozens of super facilitator theyve identified and help basically take the fight to the enemy. Sandra the attorney general in his statement when he announced this investigation into the Obama Administration<\/a> said this, the Justice Department<\/a> will leave no stone unturned to eliminate threat to our citizens from terrorist organizations and stem the tide of the devastating drug crisis. What did you learn what they may have done, the Obama Administration<\/a>, in order to push this iran deal through . What did your report reveal . Sandra, this is all very complicated stuff. The story as you noted is 13,000 words. There is a lot of nuance that sometimes get lost in the headlines. What happened was you had a Multiagency Task<\/a> force project cassandra based at the dea and there were many instances when they were trying to go after some of these guys, including hezbollahs chief envoy to tehran the state sponsor that these guys that there was a force field of protection around these guys sometimes when they were arrested overseas they couldnt get them extradited, sometimes investigations or prosecutions were delayed, derailed, undermined and so forth. They want to they do believe there are dozens of cases that didnt go forward, a couple of them actually did go forward only after the Trump Administration<\/a> took office. So again what they want to do is basically dust off the case files and try to go after these guys. I think quite frankly when you are looking at this is the fact that this issue on immigration is a tough issue that requires tough talk and these members of congress came in, the democrats came in with a bad deal and it didnt include the priorities of the president that we needed in terms of ending chain migration and ensuring we eliminate the visa lottery program. As we know, the president this week had a brilliant move in bringing in the press in that 55minute meeting. That transparent meeting with bipartisan members of congress to talk about immigration priorities and get moving on this securing the border deal. Bill well see if they get that. What i can tell you is that he made it very clear that language was not the language was not used and it is very clear that this is the democrats trying to derail this process and were getting closer to the point what they are focused on having these talks about shutting down the government which i think presents an incredible problem dealing with the fact were trying to fund the troops. They say they all have a plan and are now selling it to their colleagues. Weve come up with an idea. We wont share it with you yet. We want to share it with our colleagues to see if we can get more republicans and democrats behind the proposal. I have think that will matter to the president. The president conducted himself very well a couple of days ago. He talked about secure borders and compassion. The white house and leading conservatives are quick to say there is no deal and likely need more time. If it continues to allow chain migration, the effect of that would be amnesty for millions of people here illegally. Thats fundamentally inconsistent with what we promised the american people. And i dont think its made better by a few token or fig leaf Border Security<\/a> measures. Six yes votes in the senate is a start but they need 60 to pass a bill. Bill what are the talks taking place trying to tackle . How would you line up the issues there, mike . The one endorsed by the white house is bipartisan with top players from the house and senate. The specific thing he denies he said was why do we need more haitians, get them out. He has not specifically denied his very incendiary remark about we dont need more people from these shole countries. Thats the remark that has caused a firestorm as you just pointed out dick durbin who was in the meeting. The number two democrat in the senate said the president is lying and he did make those remarks. Sandra he is speaking at an mlk breakfast in chicago this morning. Well bring those comments to our audience when we get them. Here is how the president is going on the record this morning. In his most recent tweet says never said anything derogatory about haitians other than haiti is a very poor and troubled country. Never said take them out. Made up by dems. I have a wonderful relationship with haitians, probably should record future meetings, unfortunately no trust. That brings up a couple questions. Will there be a change . Will we see more tv cameras in the president s meetings . And second, i wonder, chris, if well hear more from the president as the day goes on. This clearly is not clearing things up this morning, his tweets. Look, you just have to use some common sense here. The president made these remarks. The meeting with dick durbin and other people was yesterday morning in the oval office. The word very quickly got out. This wasnt a meeting of the inner group at the white house, dick durbin was there. No love lost between him and the president. He quickly or somebody on the democratic side probably quickly put out what the president had said. They had what, i think its now had 18 hours since then to specifically deny it. It was all over cable news last night on all the channels. And it was never denied. The only thing that the white house said was that some politicians fight for foreign countries, this president fights for america. Very phraseworthy statement but didnt in any way deny the comments that the president allegedly had made. Common sense if he didnt say it and it was such an it took until the president tweeted this morning. Sandra democrats are not without criticism this morning, either, chris. Nancy pelosi said some interesting things about the five white guys talking about getting a deal done, the five white guys i called them, you know, she said are they going to open a hamburger stand next or what . Thats not going over with some even hoyer. He said i welcome anyone who wants to come to the table to get this done. Nancy pelosis joke, i guess some are saying that it was, didnt go over so well. It was a dumb remark. It was it represented the identity politics that democrats play. Instead of talking about the five individuals who are having this meeting it was the top vote counters in the house and senate both republican and democrat and also the chief of staff, john kelly, at the white house. It was a dumb remark and but i have to say in all fairness it is a parking ticket compared to what the president allegedly said. What we have is a program called the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act<\/a> and are you supposed to be or the grant of power is to spy on foreigners in foreign lands. Im all for that. We need to protect our country. A lot of innocent people in here and it should not be searched for american data without a warrant. All were asking is go to a judge and have some evidence to get started. Warrants arent that difficult to get. Sandra joining us is wisconsin congressman sean duffy. He voted against reauthorization, which may come to the surprise of some. Why did you vote against it . Im somewhere between where rand paul and where the house bill ended up. Im with the jim sensenbrenner. We want to surveil would be american citizen terrorists talking to foreigners. Thats a good thing. We dont have enough protections in for the average american citizen who could get caught up requiring warrants to be had in the fisa courts so were protecting the Fourth Amendment<\/a> per rand pauls comments. I dont think we struck the right balance here. Not enough protections in the bill. I think rand paul can extract those modifications and changes if he threatens the filibuster. Sandra you heard he is going to filibuster. Our producer on capitol hill said hold on, he might not necessarily be able to do that without getting into the weeds. If he takes up a lot of time on the floor after the procedural vote it doesnt constitute a filibuster but a really long speech. This has been a bipartisan bill. Republican and democrats out of the house supported it. I imagine they would have the 60 vote threshold with both parties to pass the bill. Sandra there is no evidence that officials have abused section 702 and there is multilaird oversight that includes top Officials Congress<\/a> and fisa judges. The danger is that a left right that led to the failure to detect the 9 11 plot. No one wants to take away or erect barriers. We want to make sure our intelligence agencies can keep us safe. But again you want to make sure that you have american citizens not getting caught up in fisa and they might say we havent heard any evidence this section has been violated or abused. Yeah, we dont hear it until we hear it, right . Its top secret stuff. So thats why on the front end we have to make sure we have the right protections for law abiding american citizens who arent involved in terrorist activities but not erecting barriers for our intelligence agencies to keep us safe. And then we come to the end of this week and weve got this language dispute. Did the president say it, did he not say it. The selfappointed group of senators, six senators, half republican and half democrat come to the oval office with a deal that gives democrats everything on daca and doesnt give the president 10 of what he wanted with regard to Border Security<\/a>. When you give us 1. 6 billion and take 18 billion to secure the border, he cant buy into that. We talk about compassionate. We want to deal with the daca kids. We also dont want the next generation of daca kids to come in and have to go through what these daca kids have gone through. Keep us safe. Get rid of chain migration. Nearly 690,000 people think about that number, thats how many currently live in this country and are receiving daca benefits of some sort from the federal government. Thats more than the entire state of vermont and that is a large number. So lots of people on pins and needles over what President Trump<\/a> or congress will ultimately decide about daca, make changes to it, end it all together . Norma salazar is one of 113,000 Daca Recipients<\/a> watching from the sidelines here in texas. This state right behind california has the second highest number of enrollees in the country. Salazars mother brought her to the u. S. Illegally from mexico but she was 10 years old at the time. Now 27 she has graduated from high school in texas, paid for her own college education, now working an office job, married with three children. If daca ends, she could be deported. If people could see that, you know, were human. We arent criminals. We, you know, we deserve a chance to be here. We are americans. This is our home. Critics argue they arent americans because they didnt come here legally and the time to stop using taxpayer money to fund it is now. Executive director at the center of Immigration Studies<\/a> tells me the daca program is a giant financial burden on the u. S. Economy. Exact figures of how much it costs really unclear. So we wont name them but it is in the billions. Education, healthcare, other expenses and while he says he has sympathy for people in situations with children like norma, but that doesnt give them a free pass he contends. Having a u. S. Born kid does not exempt you from the immigration laws. Nor does it mean necessarily that your family is going to be separated because you simply take your child with you when you go home. There are thousands of u. S. Citizen kids who are now in mexico because their parents either went home voluntarily or were deported. He has now filed a Class Action Lawsuit<\/a> claiming the tech giant discriminates against conservatives and white men. James damore joins us now along with civil rights attorney harmeet dhillon. Thank you to you both for coming on and telling your story this morning. James, in your lawsuit you allege what about discrimination . I went to several diversity programs and they all told me the same thing that they are actually taking race and gender into account when they are hiring, which is illegal. Sandra and that is serving to benefit women and nonconservatives and nonwhites . And nonasian. Sandra what is your evidence of this . Ill turn to your attorney here in a minute. What is the evidence that you are laying out to prove your case that google is discriminating against white male conservatives . Sandra, there are pim women included in the case as well. The evidence is throughout our very lengthy and detailed complaint, it is 161 pages long and includes a number of screen shots from managers at google who talk about men and white people being toxic and toxic masculinity, etc. We have an anecdote in there of two senior females managers leading a meeting which Business Units<\/a> that didnt have enough women in them were booed and there are other incidents of harassment. Google maintains black lists among various managers of people who are conservative and who voted for the president and they also threaten to black list people throughout Silicon Valley<\/a> if they views dont conform with the left wing views. We have a lot of evidence. Sandra google has responded with a general statement on all this on your lawsuit saying we look forward to defending against mr. Damores lawsuit in court. They disproportionately employ male. 56 of domestic employees are white. Doesnt that work against your case, james . If i can jump in and james can add. The fact that they dont have, you know, those numbers are not relevant. The numbers that are relevant how are they getting to 50 50. Knows are their goals . If they are using quotas its not legal. James has pointed out in some other interviews only 20 of the engineers out of Software School<\/a> these days in the United States<\/a> are women. So if you want 50 50 you will have to do that with some very aggressive efforts. Sandra some people responded and you can weigh in on all the response youre getting and continue to get which im sure is a lot. The initial letter you wrote while still employed by the company and you were fired for writing, you talked about the alienation of conservatives at the company but also blamed biological differences for the relative lack of women in technology. As a result you dont have to look far to find people who are saying you are against women and dont think they are as good as men in the technology workplace. I never say that women actually they are just as good. It is just that fewer women tend to be interested in technology which leads to men and women choosing Different Things<\/a> for their career and i actually lay out several ways in which we can make the workplace more well coming for women so actually increase the gender diversity at google without illegal discrimination. Sandra whats the response youre getting today for all of this . A mix of blind hate and a lot of support, though. Because this isnt just happening at google. This is in many workplaces people can really empathize of the shutting down of conservative thought and illegal discrimination. Sandra were you surprised that google fired you for writing this letter . I was very surprised actually. Because if you read it, it is clear i was trying to help google and they just wouldnt have any of it and they just smeared me and fired me. Dozens of other peoples stories included in our lawsuit. I have gotten an overwhelming response. Yes. We were going to have a life together. She have is a registered nurse in a western state. We are disguising her identity because she is afraid a man who sent her the photo was not the man in the photo. And ended up scamming her out of 50,000. He ended up with your personal information, your personal photos, and to this day he is threatening to release this if you expose him. I loved this person so yes, he got pictures, too. The f. B. I. Says love scams comprise some of the Fastest Growing<\/a> crime on the internet. Over one billion dollars was taken from people. More often than not that wrong person appears to be a man in uniform, according to this facebook page, military romance scams compiled hundreds of photos of military men whose photos have been stolen, men like gabe. Your photos have been used to scam our nurse but dozens of people. I get 10 messages a week asking me do you remember talking to me on this or that website . Its not me.
