>> well, alexandria, i think she ran against a machine and she was connected to the grass roots. one of the things that even bill o'riley pointed out about her campaign, she organized and listened to people and that's what drew me to her campaign. leland: what about cori bush who you also endorsed? >> in that case i'm for lacy clay and-- >> congressman, hold on, we've got a video that you posted of you endorsing cori bush and we have a screen grab from that to put up on the screen. >> yeah. leland: did we miss something? >> no, i originally thought show was running in a different race. she's been a great activist on ferguson, and once i realized that it was lacy clay, i've actually supported lacy and made that clear so that was a while back, but i think that cori bush is a great person, i just didn't realize she was running at the time against my friend. leland: the platform that is gaining so much steam here from what they call themselves the democratic socialists. medicare for all $15 wage or a living wage. free college and abolish ice. there's a lot of folks who support this platform, but aren't necessarily ready to call themselves democratic socialists. do you sign up in that camp? >> i certainly believe in free enterprise and i don't affiliate as a democratic associatist. i believe that medicare for all can actually be pro economic growth and pro job creation. you can get reduce the cost. i represent silicon valley and a lot of startups feel that health care is the biggest burden for them and want to reduce the costs. leland: the price tag, no one on the left wants to talk about for this is significant. medicare for all, 32 trillion dollars. where are you all going to get this money? >> sure. leland: really? >> you look at the creation of the internet in part because of the government funding nih. leland: i don't think they ever did it cheaper than the private sector, but we'll move on to this issue. do you worry at all that as democrats, you're from a very left-leaning district. you take the cori bush, lacy clay race and another where they took place, are you worried that moderate friends in seats are going to answer for some of the far left socialist programs and all of a sudden are going to be left in a pretty bad situation come november? >> i'm in a pro growth district, apple, intel, yahoo! sisco, responsible for a lot of the growth. i'm a pro economic progressive. and how do we get jobs, tech jobs in other parts of the country. i went with tim ryan to ohio. i'm going to west virginia, and i think a vision of new jobs, economic growth in middle america is something that we can run on. now, i agree with your point that not every district is going to have the same philosophy and we're a big test. leland: there's certainly a lot of democrats that we hear that are pretty worried about, if the tent is big enough for both wings. but quickly on this issue, republicans are doubling down on tax cuts. i know you opposed the past tax cuts. we had a conversation about that that was fairly memorable. i'm guessing you're going to double down and oppose any additional tax cuts from the republicans? >> i will, but i came here with a constructive idea. if they want to make tax cuts permanent. here is what we can make permanent. why don't we make an expansion of the earned income tax credits and child care tax cuts, rubio supports, and that could be bipartisan and some republicans in the past have supported and child care taxes, even rubio supports-- >> i'm guess you wouldn't be willing to trade that for digsal across the board tax cut? . no, i disagree with that. i don't agree with the republican tax plan, but if you're looking for something bipartisan, eict is a place that we could find common ground. leland: thank you for being here. and you set up nicely the section segment and see if we can get agreement on the other side of the aisle. >> i appreciate it, you're always fair. elizabeth: great interview. now for the other side let's bring in oklahoma congressman mark wayne mullen. thanks for joining me. >> thank you for having me. and a couple of things i want to bring up that the congressman brought up. in elections, change is the new normal and we're seeing these candidates run on medicaid for all, minimum wage and college for all. the congressman said he's a free enterprise supporter, but he does support medicare for all. i want your reaction to some of the points you brought up earlier in the interview. >> you've got to look at the parties right now. at any time, i think, in recent history, you're seeing the democratic party move to a socialist style country. you can guarantee in any socialist country. they control two things, they control your medical expenses, your hospital stays, everything to do with you and they control your food supplies. so, when you see a country starting to move towards socializing medicine, you've got to be concerned. and you're seeing cortez stand up, not only medicare for all, but guaranteed jobs and housing for all, you're seeing them move move towards hey, we want the government to take care of everything about us and when you do that, you lose all the fro that we have inside this country. elizabeth: keep in mind a lot of these candidates are winning primaries. we're going to see how that plays out at mid terms. >> how it plays out. elizabeth: and mentioned in his ar dpuments that we would be saving money because the current medicare bill if i'm not mistaken, and in math, 32. >> i've been in business for years and know numbers well. look at states that expanded medicaid. they're going bankrupt. look at our expenses in the health industry when obamacare got up and running. you saw people moving away of being able to afford health insurance that they had to get and decided it was cheaper for us to pay the penalty. i represent 36 rural hospitals inside my district. out of 36 hospitals only four are operating in the black. every one is going into the bankrupt. you're going to have more people under obamacare have insurance. we're going to lower the cost of medicaid and expand it. the math didn't work out there either. so anytime you're moving towards socialized medicine to which ro is talking about, you can guarantee costs are going up and shouldered on the backs of everybody working and paying taxes and it's going to bankrupt this country. elizabeth: let' shift gear, he talked about taxes and eic and the child care tax cuts, makes those permanent. i don't know if the republicans are talking about that. congressman brady wants to make the tax cuts permanent. the corporate ones are permanent, but we're talk in the 2025, it's going to help the middle class. i didn't hear a lot of specifics out of him at the white house. >> when we first started talking about this, i was in the room with general brady and general mattis, and discussing when 2.0 first came out. the idea is to take the tax cuts that we have, that have have been working, 6.6 million jobs have been created. 1.3 million since the tax cuts have been put in place. there's more people hiring than jobs available in the work force. elizabeth: what you just said, you gave me a commercial ahead of the midterm. is that why republicans are bringing up 2.0? >> in politics, timing is just as important as policy. when you start thinking about trying to make the tax cuts permanent, which we need to make permanent, when you're looking at the house. the house is going to pass this. elizabeth: the senate's not. >> the senate might pass it because there's a lot of senators up for reelection in purple states. are they going to vote against something that's extremely popular in america. when you've got large companies across the country given out bonuses and benefits and counting. when you see just in oklahoma, the average pay is increased by $1600. that's equal to what we're seeing across the country. when you're saying, hey, are you going to vote against this, something that spurred our party. elizabeth: you didn't get one democratic vote on the first version and now you need nine? >> we're going to put them in a position, are you going to vote against something. are we better off than we were when trump took office? the answer is yes, because of the tax cuts. and when chairman brady said this is come to go a vote in september. >> september would be aggressive, but it could be. i'll say we'll vote on this either in september or october. keep in mind, we're going to be working through august. we have working groups, it's going to be very busy without the clutter going on because the house is going to be out. you can get a lot more done in a short period of time because you're not as distracted. so, it's possible. and i tell you what, chairman brady, we've seen is very consistent, cool, gam -- calm and evenly keeled. we've also goss to fund the government. too. >> there's a lot coming up. elizabeth: thank you very much, appreciate it. tune into fox news sunday tomorrow. bret baier is in for chris wallace and he'll have an exclusive interview with trey gowdy. check your listings for time and channel. and there will be coverage on trump-putin summit and the fallout. that's at 11 eastern tomorrow. leland: we're learning what went wrong when a tourist both capsized. it happened when a thunderstorm swept across a lake in southern missouri. mourners gathered to mourn them including nine from the same family. and the life jackets, were they wearing them? were there enough of them? >> reporter: as the storms moved fast, the ripples on the lake went over the bow of the tour boat. the passengers were told by the crew they would not need life vests. that according to one of the survivors. >> they told us they're up here, this is where they are. they showed us where they were. they said, don't worry about it, you won't need it. we said, okay. so when the captain took over, i thought that at some point he would say, grab the jackets now. >> tia coleman is from the family of 11 that lost nine people. her husband and three children are all gone now. the president of the company that owns the duck boat says it was a microburst that descended on table rock lake producing windows over 60 miles per hour. the two amphibious boats were seen on video taking on water and then ultimately flipped. and the n.t.s.b. is responsible for the recovery of boat as they're taking over the investigation. and they're being briefed on the tragedy today. back to you. leland: mike tobin in missouri. more when we get it in terms of the briefing, mike. thanks so much. liz. elizabeth: after the break, vowing to rebuild in iowa after a series of devastating tornados tear through the state. plus, president trump's jumping into a very close republican primary runoff race for governor in georgia, endorsing georgia secretary of state brian kent over lt. governor casey kegel. we'll talk with both candidates. and allowing fining of players when they neil. >> wouldn't you love to see when they're respecking our flag, get that son of a-- out right now,'s fired, fired! te by staying in rhythm. and to keep up this pace, i drink boost optimum. boost optimum with 5 in 1 advanced nutrition helps support muscle, energy, bone, normal immune function, and vision. boost optimum. be up for life. ♪ motorcycle revving ♪motorcycle revving ♪ motorcycle revving ♪ no matter who rides point, ♪ there are over 10,000 allstate agents riding sweep. ♪♪ and just like tyrone taylor, they know what it takes to help keep you protected. are you in good hands? >> well, i think if you don't think like a liberal media and you actually look at the commercials, they're talking about making georgia number one for small business. fundamentally reforming how state government spends taxes and so we put more money in hard-working georgiaen pockets, rather than stacy abrams. she wants to line up with that person that got elected in congress in new york. georgia is not going to be there for that. they want smaller government. leland: it's interesting you brought up ocasio-cortez. i asked democrats about the point you just made, if democrats in places like georgia are going to have to answer for the far left wing of the party. before you can get to that question though, you've got to get through this primary runoff on tuesday. you've got some ads on the air, as does your opponent, mr. cagle, lt. governor. take a listen, we'll get you to respond. >> after 20 years in politics, these are brian kemp's victims. 26 women assaulted during imagines. farmers stiffed for millions, hundreds of seniors hurt by abusive nurses 6 billion georgians exposed to identity theft. what does he have to say. >> i say merry christmas. >> what do you say?
