mike: an annual tradition to mark the start of spring here in washington, d.c., the cherry blossoms are on full display around the tidal basin as crowds pour in to admire their beauty. the national park service is predicting peak bloom will-happen the week from march 22 the end-25th, so that's friday. the tradition began in 1912 as a gift of friendship from the people of japan to the people of the united states. spring showers are looming on the horizon for much of the u.s. with severe weather possible in the south starting monday. meteorologist adam klotz has your fox weather forecast. >> reporter: hey, mike. yeah, you said it, spring-like weather. with that, you get showers and eventually some severe weather. but it's all being fueled by very warm temperatures.
