rieff john, following the stories in race 19 of 24 as we move quickly to the end of the season and the determination of the champions. let's start with pro stock motorcycle highlights. >> for the quickest run, hector arana, hot 6.96 elapsed time, almost 190 miles per hour. >> that meant in session two you had two hot motorcycles, andrew hines and hector arana. andrew into the sixes only other motorcycle this weekend to do so but not as fast as hector. a 6.967. he is the top speed again. >> then in the final session you're not going to see hector or andrew hines. it's andy mcbride and shawn gann, who will be the quickest of this session? if you said gann, would you be right. in the heat, seven flat at 188 miles an hour, good enough for low e.t. of session number three. >> remember the points, that go along with being the quickest in each session of qualifying. their bonus points and they make a world of difference. so as we look at the final session with hector arana, then gann and hines and mcbride not in the playoffs but staking out a position and michael phillips. >> look at the bottom eight. 16 motorcycles. you have johnson, treble, nine and ten, doug horn at 16, curre currently. >> pro stock motorcycle, the fourth, the final session begins. doug horn on the far side over there and jim underdahl. boy, doug horne has just been so good this year. number one qualifier this year at chicago and one of those in the fight for the award, rookie of the year. pro stock motorcycle points, remembering that everything got reset after the running of the u.s. nationals to start this countdown to the championship with eddie krawiec on top, followed by andrew and hector, matt smith, doug horne, craig treble and mike phillips. mike's having a good year. >> remember what happened in indianapolis, suspended for failing to comply to nhra's drug testing policy, was allowed to keep that position in points and could have file an appeal. i spoke with the senior vice president of racing operations for the nhra, and as of five minutes ago that appeal has not yet been sent in. a no-show this weekend. >> eddie krawiec and craig treble. krawiec is seventh, treble is ten lth right now. red light doesn't matter. qualifying, only matters in competition. so, 7.024 for krawiec, will him up two positions, he's now fifth and craig treble stays in tenth. and the points after the reset, look how many points some of these guys lost. eddie krawiec for example, 156 points lost because they vet back to closer numbers. >> wow. 20-points, the old point system, a race and a half before anyone would have caught him, that's assuming they would have had perfect, number two guy would have a perfect round. that is huge. >> of course, that's the whole intent. make the race tighter and tighter going to determination of championship. and they've now added in this whole idea of bonus points for qualifying which should make it a little more interesting as well. steve johnson closest to us, he's not in the playoffs. and karen stouffer, starts her playoff journey in tenth. had a lot of trouble on the tree, karen is seventh. steve is ninth. karen stofer and johnson, neither of their times will do anything to change their position. karen remains seventh and steve johnson remains in ninth place as we go through pro stock motorcycle qualifying here in charlotte. just north of the downtown. i got to tell you, this city is growing up and growing up, the queen city, charlotte, north carolina. look at all that money. banks, yeah. like it.
