point . >> >> sean: the vice president is at it again, this time with a 53 million dollar boondoggle on his hands. >> conditions are worse with this administration. >> sean: not everyone in hollywood is happy with obama. my old buddy ed asner rips into the president on the radio. hannity starts right now. welcome to this wednesday edition. in a moment i will be joined by governor palin. we begin with new caned s of president obama's reelection chances in 2012 are dwindling. according to a cnn poll a majority of the americans expect the president to lose his reelection bid. only 46% believe he will win a second term. those numbers could be the result of the growing opposition on the president's handling of the economy. his approval rating dropped to a new low only 27% approve of his handling of this monstrous deficit. 68% disapprove. since november that number has been trending in the wrong direction for the white house. guess what else could soon fire up taxpayers? passive federal bailout to help states pay for employment insurance. states that borrowed billions from uncle sam to pay foreunemployment will not have to pay interest for two years. to pay for the short term suspension of interest rates businesses will be hit in the long term according to the "washington post" starting in 2014, obama would target companies for sharply higher payroll taxes to help states replenish their unemployment funds and repay their debts to washington. growing deficit and tax hikes on the horizon. how is this likely to play out for the president in the 2012 race? governor, i don't get it, the white house doesn't get it. again in two years we have the issue of raising taxes on small business. now they are going to tax small business here. what part of this is not going to help the economy do you think they don't get? >> that is why the poll numbers are reflective of the public's per self watch is really going on. -- perception of what is really going on. the policies lack the soundness we you consider the idea of bailing out states that is going to be the answer to these problems. no, the poll numbers reflect that americans, at this point are saying, enough is enough. this ain't our first rodeo. after two years of failed leftist policies we are not believing growing more government and taxing the people is the answer. >> sean: what did you think, here's the chamber of commerce the long list of people this president has attacked. he talks to them and taxes about them and lectures the chamber about how business has a moral obligation, basically to redistribute the wealth. what did you think of those comments? >> that's what i believe that suggestion was. businesses, it is up to you to allow government to take more from you and we'll distribute it according to politicians' priorities i that is ridiculous. what the chambers and members of congress needs to do is understand now is your opportunity. you have the public will on your side. the public that is saying via poll numbers, saying no we don't trust obama on the economy on how bailouts is supposed to work and future tax increases we won't capitulate. congress needs to cut spending. businesses need to keep more of what they are earning so they can reinvest and hire more people. there is no need to capitulate. >> sean: are we deceiving the american people? we stopped counting people after they've been on unemployment for a period of time and they stop looking for work. real unemployment number is 17%. are those numbers deceptive? i forgot which commentator i was reading today saying if the unemployment number is down below 8%, in other words people start giving up looking for work in higher numbers the unemployment rate goes down. does that help the president in his reelection attempt in 2012? >> tweaking those numbers they would assume they help the president. the reality is, it is at least 17% under employment rate we are facing. these are historic numbers. the policies that the president two years in now, is still believing that americans are going to accept are not being accepted. that's why we go back to poll numbers that show that his numbers in the tank when it comes to these economic issues that he believes all come back to growing government being the answer. the american public is saying no more federal overreach and overtaxation and overregulation. >> sean: the president gave this interview with o'reilly before the super bowl. not sure if you saw it. one of the first questions, he was asked about the people that hate him. his answer was, they don't really know me. you're a staunch critic of the president standing on your reagan conservative principles. i'm a staunch critic of the president. i don't hate the president. i think his policies are failing the country. five million in debt by the end of this year. why is it if you have a passionate, principled disagreement, some people view it as hatred? >> yeah, that was kind of a perplexing answer that the president gave. i'm with you sean, i don't hate the president. but i dislike and distrust what his policies are. it has been proven over and over again. look at the trillion dollar stimulus package that was sold to the states as a bailout. we don't want to do another state bailout that first trillion dollar one didn't work. that stimulus package stimulated those in the tea party movements and other conservative movements to say enough is enough and we have to rein in government growth. for the president to have that kind of thin skinned was reflective. >> sean: it is almost like he's portraying himself as the victim. again, he said unemployment would be low 8%. he said he would reduce deficits, have transparency, eliminate earmarks. i go through my checklist. the economy is in much worse shape. debt is bad. i think there is real legitimate country. >> . i think this president is in over his head. is that a fair description? >> i think he and those who surgeon him to advise him do not -- who surround him to advise him do not know how to run a business they are so used to spending other people's money and they are irresponsible in that arena. whether that is in over his head or those he has chosen to advise him, they are getting our economy really, if you think about it, in a worse position than what he claims he inherited. he, our president is responsible for growing the largest chunk of debt in the united states history. if he would acknowledge that and would say okay, i got to admit these things, they are not working. the joblessness is still as bad as it was. debt is growing, deficit spending is continuing we have to turn this around. we have to cut spending. if he would acknowledge some of those things, i think he would see some changes in his poll numbers too. >> sean: we'll continue with governor palin. we'll see if she has made movement in terms of running in 2012. and a reported riff between her and senator santorum. she will respond to comments that he made that sparked a media firestorm. >> according to a new gallup poll only 27% approve of the president's deficient -- handling of the deficit. >> sean: we'll have the results at the end of the show. more with governor palin, straight ahead. >> i don't know. i have a feeling she has some demands on her time. a lot of them have financial benefit attached. so i'm sure that she is doing what is best for her and her family. >> you wouldn't have turned it down? >> no. i don't live in alaska. >> right. >> sean: last night politico released a story claiming governor palin is skipping cpac to make money. he quote this article is garbage all i said is she is very busy, period. the reporter is trying to create something out of nothing. in response sarah palin. why does it not shock me that there's always some controversy governor. your life would be dull without it. >> evidently. that's the first that i have heard what he had to say. yeah, i think the reports were much worse than what he really said. i think some things were maybe taken out of context. so i will not call him the knuckle-dragging neanderthal. i'll let his wife call him that instead. maybe he's uninformed as to why it is that i can't make it to another political speech in a couple of weeks. as i've explained february is our busiest winter month. just because i'm a mom that does not mean that i didn't want to be there. i've never been to cpac i don't know what the big brouhaha is. i don't know why anybody would think it is that big of a darn deal not to be there time. >> sean: i was invited. my daughter has a tennis tournament. i chose the tournament. there's a controversy,; gop proud and some social conservatives are not happy with the direction that cpac has taken. are you one? >> i don't have a problem with the diverse groups that are involved in political discourse and having a contention to talk -- convention to talk about what the answers are to the problems that face america. people are losing their jobs, their homes. there are so many life changing, life and death issues in front of us. we better be concentrating on what is really important and not going tit-for-tat as people are positioning themselves for 2012 and figuring out what groups is going to support whom. we better be very serious about finding solutions to the problems. >> sean: back to rick santorum's comments. he said financial benefit and "she is the mother of all those kids." he has seven kids himself. >> well i didn't know he said that because i'm the mother of all those kids. i'm the proud mother of five. my kids don't hold me back from attending a conference. again, that is the tit-for-tat thing that americans are turned off by. they want to hear us engaged in debate and discourse and conversation about solutions. getting the economy back on the right track and securing our borders. securing our hold land. not the kind of pettiness that happens i guess internally within the gop machine and the democrat machine as people are positioning for future races. hearing that, another part of me says, well, and the beat goes on. what's new? >> sean: okay. it is getting kind of near crunch time. we expect probably in march, next month and april, that a lot of candidates are planning to make their announcement they are running for president. you have left the door open, up until now i assume you are getting closer to a decision. where stand at this moment? >> i don't have a date in mine. i will make the decision as things fall into place or don't for me and my -- and my family as we move forward with the internal deliberations we are engaged in. i'm not going to put myself in a box to give a timeline. other people no doubt some politicians they are going to be doing it in a more conventional manner than i will. i've never done anything conventionally. that's what going rogue is about. you do what you believe is best for the people who you want to serve. you better be willing to serve for the right reasons. a lot of that includes the timing after announcing when it is you would desire to put yourself forward in the name of service. >> sean: we shouldn't read anything into for example, some pac activity that we've seen in iowa? >> nobody has to read anything into anything. when the time is ready to announce that will be the right time. in the meantime, i and i think every other potential candidate out there is continuing to prayerfully consider and speak with those who are close to us and decide for ourselves what the right timing -- >> sean: i didn't ask you about egypt. my biggest concern governor is the president and the white house now have said they've got to reconsider their relationship with the muslim brotherhood. their desire is for an islamic caliphate, sharia law, they've been involved in assassinations, they've supported extremist organizations. it appears egypt has accept the notion they will be part of any new government. how dangerous is that when you couple it with the other countries, jordan and surrounding countries now indonesia and tunisia, in the problems we see in rising islamic radicalism? >> the muslim brotherhood as they believe in a caliphate is a big problem. i think it should give us all great pause to hear official in our own nation believing that the muslim brotherhood should be given a seat at the table and hear their ideas for democracy. does the muslim brotherhood really sincerely believe in freedom and women rights, human rights? do they believe in freedom of religion or in cramming done someone's throat their own religious beliefs and if you won't buy into them you are be hill tedded? if that is part of the muslim brotherhood's mission, then for shame that the u.s. government would believe they could be embraced and still bring those who dire freedom and democracy down a road towards democracy. >> sean: the president was given an opportunity to speak out against them and he passed. >> right. >> sean: what do you make of that? >> he sure did. he passed and that was a lost opportunity. again, gives me, gives so many others great pause, when we are trying to figure out what is it that our president stands for and stands with? if he could be strong with the -- like reagan was and let us know honestly, sincerely, what do you think of the muslim brotherhood? what do you think of sharia law? what to you think of islamic extremists? when they won't even use the termini more. what do you think their desire is for israel, for america, for other freedom loving democratic loving countries that would seek peace in this world? >> sean: governor those are questions you think our media would ask. thank you governor palin. >> thanks so much. >> sean: british prime minister sparks outrage with his claim of extremism in the u.k. juan williams and michelle malkin, straight ahead. ♪ you don't know ♪ hey ♪ what you do to me ♪ what you do to me ♪ hey ♪ all i see ♪ yeah [ male announcer ] you know all about her. ♪ it's new to me, yeah [ male announcer ] we know all about diamonds. together we'll find the perfect gift this valentine's day. ♪ you don't know [ male announcer ] that's why only zales is the diamond store. >> sean: british prime minister cameron has posed a controversial theory for the roots of muslim extreme imin his country. in a speech cameron said the ideology of multi-culturalism which encourages individuals to separate along cultural line rather than integrate into a larger community is to blame for the rise of islamic radicalism in the u.k.. >> under the doctrine of state multi-culturalism we've encouraged different cultures to live separate lives apart from each other and the mainstream. we failed to provide a vision of society to which they feel they want to belong. we've even tolerated these segregated communities behaving in ways that run counter to our values. >> sean: the british prime minister also asserted there is such a thing as too much tolerance. and went so far as to call for a reassertion of british national identity. >> when a white person holds objectionable views, racist views we rightfully condemn them. when equally views come from someone who isn't white we've been too cautious. frankly fearful to stand up to them. frankly, we need less of the passive tolerance of recent years and a much more active, muscular liberalism. >> sean: is there a lesson in this for the u.s.?
