I can give you my heart. I think it was that which made Great Britain grade. She literally was a role model to Heads Of StateAll Around The World. Disagree from time to time, but we must always remain. Queen elizabeth ii for the longest reigning in british history. We come together so that freedom works. They go the queen being widely remembered as the nations grandmother. Its not a part of our past. It defines our present and our future. Piers Thousands Lining The Streets Of London to say a final goodbye. My mother gave an example of lifelong love and of Selfless Service. We have not seen scenes like this on a scale in britain since Winston Churchill. I thank you all and many others at home and overseas for your touching messages of great kindness. Martha good morning, everyone and welcome to our coverage of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth ii. United kingdoms longest reigning on the throne and end of an arrow from the world from world war ii to the coronation of a young princess. She was guided by Winston Churchill, then gave counsel herself to younger Prime Ministers. The world watched her transform from stunning bride to working mother to grandmother of the nation from country woman to regal bearing, she was a constant here and Around The World. Unchanging and yet moving forward through good times and bad. She embodied the Steadfastness Of The Greatest Generation and the optimism and hope he did get through the pandemic when she assured her kingdom, we will be together again. Good morning, again, everybody. Im so glad to be joined by this Terrific Team of piers morgan and Ainsley Earhardt as we set the stage at the funeral of the likes the world has not seen and will likely not see again. It is great to be with with both of you and it seemed shut dont make such a short time ago. We were in bright colors but now today in dark colors for this solemn but really important, historical occasion. It is Great To Be With You both. Here are your thoughts as we get started . Piers incredibly moved already by what is happening behind us because the scene three months ago, the other side over there one of euphoria and celebration of this amazing grade. And just now real silence. And people want to pay respects. I think there will be a celebration that Today Is The DayGreat Britain says goodbye and not just to our greatest monarch, but i would argue the greatest monarch of any country. Certainly, we have never seen the world what is going to happen the day before, even Winston Churchills funeral two months before i was born 57 years ago. 1965. Even that will not be on the scale of what we see today. This is the greatest gathering of world figures the planet has probably ever seen. Quite rightly, in my opinion, because this woman was the greatest of all the mon monarchs. Ainsley you know, i was watching one of the stations last night as i was trying to fall asleep. They continuously showed video of her and sound bites throughout the years in Classical Music. Of all of the images. I thought about you, piers, you said youd shed a few tears when you learn she died september 8th. My eyes started to get teary because i think even though shes not my monarch, i love what she represents. I love she has sought to make such a constant. Her god meant everything to her, a duty of country and left her children months at a time. No mother wants to do that but she went to serve her country like military, like an individual in the military would do. Even when her children got into some trouble and her husband a little mischievous, she was constant and state and just stayed and plowed through and never let it bother her in the open. She was so dignified and so full of grace and classy. Martha, you have been following her so long. What is going through your mind . You have been here 12 days and the 12 days of covering it. Martha i think this morning has a weight to with that is very profound, because you are sating. We are watching people file into Westminster Abbey. Westminster abbey will be the first place that we really watch this Funeral Service play out this morning. Im struck by also what piers was saying, last night 250 Heads Of State from all around the globe. I think it is just worth everyone letting that sink in that this is probably the largest gathering of Heads Of State that any of us will ever see, the largest Head Of State and times. Why is that . Why does this passing draw people from All Around The World . Because they admired her. As we said in that piece, want to emulate her as a leadership role model. Martha dome xp when longevity, she was 26 years old but think about that. I have a son two years older, three years older and i think i cant imagine what it must have been like. She was propelled into this position out of nowhere when her father, he died in early 50s. They have this young princess who with her uncles and the king would never imagine in a million years within a short period of time that she would be the monarch. The next 70 years, she reigned without a foot long. How many can go a week without a foot wrong . This woman went 70 years. That is why there has been this global outpouring of respect whether you believe in the idea of monarchy or not, everybody respected this woman for what she stood for and the values you mentioned. Which i talked about this last week stoicism, just get on with that humility. And putting the people before herself. The country before herself, service, duty, these are the great values that made Great Britain a great country. The great passing, the country has had a moment to stop and reflect on what she means and what her values are. I think when you saw the queue, i think i can use that phrase now and spent many years trying to explain, we now know even in america, the cues which has been the greatest q and i think the world has ever seen. And it was 4 miles and miles and miles through london, hundreds of thousands of people. What were they doing . They were queuing nine, ten, 15, 16 hours in pretty cold conditions overnight to spend a few seconds in front of her majesty Queen Elizabeth ii which is to nod and show respects. I cant give anybody in modern times who has ever had that response. This is a moment in history. We had 13 months ago, to celebrate the longest reign. Today we have the goodbye. I have to say when the procession comes past here in a few hours time after the funeral, it will be an incredibly moving moment because that will be the last time i and all of these people here will ever see a great queen. Martha it is stunning. A few short months ago, we were all together and watched her come out on the balcony at the very beginning of the celebration and at the end. It is so good given the outpouring we have seen that she got to see that devotion that it was all spilling out as it is now and at that time as well. She got to witness the outpouring and all the fun, the concert, her face across different generations. She saw that absolutely. Piers and how grateful the nation was for what she did. Im so glad she managed to hang on because people were worried. She made the Jubilee Celebrations and she did. She made everything. Even two days before she died, she was there to submit the new Prime Minister coming in. Martha she worked until the very last minute of her life. Piers she put duty first. Martha she said my whole life, she meant it because she literally worked on tuesday and passed on thursday. Ainsley she said that in her 20s, 63 years, seven months two days for Queen Victoria at 18 years old, Queen Elizabeth 70 years, 214 days. The longestserving monarch that britain has ever seen. And there is youve heard the saying, i want to be a proverbs 31 woman. I think this is why people in america say they are spending 12 days to bury her. She gave us 70 years, we can give her 12 days. But in america, if you are watching and you dont understand why it take so long and why all the pomp and circumstance, if you are here you understand. If you studied her life, she was a proverbs 31 woman, All Around The World people strive to be. She was righteous. She always did the right thing, even when situations might have looked bad, she held it together and she was just always constant into the right thing and was a righteous person. Piers she was. I remember the pandemic, for example, early on gripped in fear from this unknown Virus Killing Thousands and thousands of people every day. They were all worried. We were on lock down and nobody knew what was going on. And she on National Television and she only spoke for a few minutes, four or 5 minutes. But it was poetry. And in those four or 5 minutes, she managed to calm everybody down. We have been through worse, world war ii. She was a young girl who came through that. I know we are separated from each other from friends and family but We Will Meet Again. And saying We Will Meet Again. The queen said those words very deliberate taking us back to world war ii. We will survive and come through. The nation was confident. When American Friends supported the monarchy, i would point to that and say that right there is the primary function, Head Of State, celebrating when we want to, but also really desperate times to say we will be fine. And ive always taken great comfort from that. The queen was an amazing woman and managing to calm everything down. And make you think that its all going to be okay. And now we have lost her. It will be a huge loss to the country. Martha you think back to world war ii and an existential threat to the United Kingdom. And she and her family, Buckingham Palace behind us was bombed. Her mother went outside with her father, King George Vi and walked in the rubble and basically told everyone, we will persevere and go one. The United Kingdom will survive world war ii. To wrap around that message We Will Meet Again a famous song and world war ii to remind that the soldiers would come home and have that parallels was really beautiful. Ainsley the queen mother was trying to get an eyelash out of the kings i when they were in the bathroom where the bedroom where ever they were and came through a bomb almost hit them. And the children at Windsor Castle were separated from their parents through the war because the parents wanted to stay here as a sign we are staying with the people and we are one with the people. They did so with the children out. They were taught by different tutors. Piers institutional that they stayed with the king. By doing that, again, showed the depths of duty and service. Three times the palace was bombed and they never left. They wanted to stay in london and they wanted to stay here and be a part of what was going on despite great risk to their allies. We remember what they did. We remember what the queen did for many centuries to come. Piers it is something the people in the United States do as well Great Respect for world war ii veterans and Great Respect for the special alliance between the United Kingdom and england, fdr, Winston Churchill. Those are lines that run deep between both countries. I think people admire the queen so much and her family for the strength they showed in that time. I want to go out to jonathan hunt, who is with us throughout the course of this week. It has been great to have him with us. He is giving us a look what we can expect when the funeral gets underway this morning. Hi, jonathan. Martha, Great To Be With You. And throughout the 12 days that unite. And i want to pick up first what you and ainsley were talking about the queen brought to this nation. She spent 70 years, obviously, unifying the kingdom, the United Kingdom and the commonwealth. And it struck me over the last few days as we talked to so many people waiting so long in these lines to pay their last respects to file through Westminster Hall. How many of those people have no idea who they were standing next to for the first few minutes of their up to 24 hours in line . But within minutes, they were talking, making friendships and so many lifelong friendships have been made as a people lined up over four days to say a final goodbye to the queen. I think it is extraordinary to note the queen unified this country in life, and now, she is unifying so many people in death. We are back an hour and 20 minutes now from the ceremonies getting underway. We will begin with the queens coffin being placed onto a gun carriage. It will then be taken from Westminster Hall, where she has been lying in state to the west door of Westminster Abbey. This will be an extraordinary site, martha. The gun carriage will be polled using a rope system. It is 123yearold gun carriage. If the ropes operated by 98 sailors of the royal navy. That is a traditional, by the way, dates back to the funeral of Queen Victoria. Of course, walking behind will be king charles and other members of the royal family, including the princes of william and harry. So we are about to see a quite remarkable State Funeral unfold here. A remarkable tribute to a remarkable woman who did so much for this country over seven decades. It will be very interesting. This is obviously a day of celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth ii. But if its also one to begin asking questions about what sort of king charles will be . He has a lot of challenges ahead of him. And everybody has been deeply respectful with good reason over the last 12 days or so, i dont think it will be long before you start hearing the questions about scotland for instance. Will it be another Independence Referendum . What is australia going to do . Its membership of the commonwealth . Other nations as well will begin to question things. Quite frankly, king charles does not have the power, obviously the personality that the queen had. So we had a very interesting future, but to date obviously come all about saying goodbye to Queen Elizabeth ii, martha. Martha jonathan thank you very much. The funeral for Queen Elizabeth ii will begin 6 00 a. M. Eastern, 11 00 a. M. Here in the u. K. And we will bring you live special coverage all morning long. Piers up next, buried with her majesty and a special value each propel for her. Martha plus, with the queens passing end the royal riff for Prince William and Harry Reuniting in in the in mo . I would like to ask you all whatever your religion may be to pray for me on that day, to pray that god may give me wisdom and strength to carry out the promises that i shall be making. And that i may faithfully serve him and you all the days of my life. Millions have made the switch from the big three to xfinity mobile. Queen elizabeth ii was born into the Windsor Family on apri. At birth is the oldest daughter of the duke and duchess of york and niece to the king, no one expected little Elizabeth Alexandra would be the longestserving and one of the most respected rulers of Great Britain. But a love story would transform her quiet country childhood into an altogether different testimony and elizabeths uncle Prince Edward abdicated asking to marry the american divorce elizabeth simpson. Elizabeths father reluctantly took the throne in 1936 making his oldest and then 10yearold daughter elizabeth his error to the throne. At age 14, at the homeschool princess began to take on some royal duties. Her family was an outward expression of strength and resilience as england was battered by the blitz in world war ii. In 1945 at age 18, the young princess trained as a drive
