the balance of power in congress. we have team coverage. charles watson is live in atlanta, rich edson live in pennsylvania. and. selena zito with reaction in just a few minutes. trump backed mehmet os has narrowed the gap in pennsylvania. in harrisburg we find rich edson right now. reporter: this is a full day for john fetterman. he finished a rally in front of union members. he is pushing his campaign promises. says he wants to raise the minimum wage. protect abortion rights. and he knocked his republican challenger mehmet oz. >> mehmet oz hasn't forgotten a day that i had a stroke. in january i will be much better but he will still be a fraud. reporter: oz and republicans nationwide have been campaigning on inflation, making the case democrat stimulus spending and turn away from fossil fuels raised costs across the country. the oz campaign's communication director said pennsylvania cannot afford more of the same with his dangerous ideas to put criminals back on our streets and prioritize criminals over safer communities. president biden is getting into this race. he called fetterman, my kind of guy. so much for democrats running for biden and republicans running for trump. jon: meanwhile in georgia's gubernatorial race, brian kemp says his record will speak for itself when he debates stacey abrams an hour from now. reporter: tonight's debate is the final opportunity for each candidate to sell their positions in front of a statewide audience. particularly in the case of abrams. she is looking for an impressive debate. republicans say abrams only gave them 40-year high inflation. governor kemp has been fighting for georgia families. at a campaign rally abrams made the case why she is better for georgia's economy. she touches on a number of issues, including giving teachers pay raises and expand affordable housing, things she says are only afforded to the privileged under kemp. >> we'll have a governor who believe in all of us, who believes it's one georgia that belongs to everyone of us, and not an old boys club. reporter: the race for senate is heating up with republican herschel walker hitting back at former president barack obama * who called wearing suspect. >> he hasn't done right by us in his mansion. i want to get my hands dirty. rdirty.report. >> let's send this running-back back to texas so we can go and enjoy -- reporter: i am sure both candidates are hoping to avoid a runoff as we head into the final stretch. election officials say they expect somewhere around 2 million people who have voted as we go into next week. jon: charles watson in atlanta. thank you. in new york republican congressman lee zeldin disclosing in on democratic governor kathy hochul. reporter: both candidates had some big names join them on the campaign trail, hoping the extra help will give them the push they need to come out on top. the well-known republican leader hyped up the large crowd telling voters zeldin will shake up albany and make real change to the criminal justice system. >> what you need to do, stop coddling criminals. stop turning them loose on the streets. they commit a crime and they put them right back out. stop releasing people from prison early. if you do the crime you must do the time. reporter: this radio ad was recorded by former president barack obama *. >> november 8 the takes could not be higher in the election for governor of new york. kathy hochul is the choice hands down. reporter: zeldin says he will declare a statewide crime crisis on day one. kathy hochul is focusing on subways. >> i always run like i'm 10 points behind. i run like an underdog, and the voters are paying attention on what's at stake in this election. reporter: early voting is now under way. hochul only has a 4-point lead over zeldin according to the latest poll. jon: another tight race in wisconsin where incumbent ron johnson is fighting off a challenge by mandela barnes. he has a 3-point edge which is a virtual tossup. barns got a little help from former president barack obama. president biden is gearing up for what is expected to be a full week of campaigning ahead. reporter: president biden says the upcoming elections are the most important in his lifetime. republicans say these are the most consequential elections and said the following. >> my campaign has been focused on one issue, inflation, inflation, inflation. they are listening to my message because that's what they are talking about on the kitchen table. >> they will get a rude awakening. high inflation, high crime and open borders is not what the american public wants. >> people are struggling with the cost of gas and food at the grocery stores. now with halloween coming, candy kiss up 13 -- candy is up 13%. president biden you called inflation temporary. it peaked at 1.9% in june. inflation is now 8.2%. it was 14e -- it was 1.4% when biden took office. >> it's a thousand cuts for so many families who can't afford rent, gas, groceries. everything is so expensive and the democrats own it. reporter: democrat chris coons offered the following rebuttal. because we have real accomplishments to point to, we are running on it. >> why is the former president making the point and not the current president. >> i disagree with our characterization of that question. the president has been talking about this for months now. jon: lucas, thanks. joining us now, "washington examiner" political reporter and "new york post" columnist selena zito. what do you think is the big takeaway that's going to come from the vote? >> i think the big takeaway is which party or candidates have done the best job listening to what voters are most concerned about. and to date, the republicans have done a better job of talking about inflation, talking about crime. huge concerns for voters. but also talking about the border, which voters see as something that's impact their suburbs, their towns, their small towns through a fentanyl surge into those places, and also parental rights. the democrats' challenge has been they have been in power so they sort of walk around the things that voters are concerned about. but they are not addressing it head on in a meaningful way. voters feel disenchanted with the party, and unhappy with the democrat party. jon: you took an interesting trip toll bragg, pennsylvania, that's the tiewnl where john fetterman was mayor. he says -- he says he saved tht town. but your reporting begs to differ. >> when john fetterman announced he was running and when he ran for lieutenant governor. there was this legendary story that went throughout that he saved the town and made it better. that crime went down. and the businesses did better. and that's not true. they didn't tell that through my observation, i told it through the people who live in braddock. crime went up when he was mayor there. the population went down. the very heart of the community was demolished and taken away while he was mayor. that for the longest time was the only place someone could sit down and have a sit-down meal was at the cafeteria and the hospital. if you talk to small business people there, they will tell you, it doesn't take long to walk down the street on braddock avenue in braddock. he didn't even walk down the street and talk to people and introduce himself. jon: people think the traditional voting groups will both vote the way they have always voted. you need to talk to voters about what's most important to them. listen to their concerns. there is this idea that suburban women are going to go away because of abortion. there is an idea that minorities vote a certain way because they always have. and there is this idea that voters might not split their vote between oz and shapiro. but if you listen to voters, that's not entirely the case. jon: i know you spoke to pastor jim nelson about what's on his mind. he sees the struggles of every day americans up close. what was the lesson you took away from interviewing him? >> pastor nelson is a pastor in duquesne. they have a problem with poverty and the sense of helplessness. inflation is impacting these families in a very large way. he said i'm not a democrat, i'm not a republican, i'm a christ-o-crat. >jon: there are parallels betwen the fetterman campaign and the biden campaign two years ago, aren't there? >> there is. i think there were a lot of people that watched that debate tuesday evening. i watched it in a bar. i just observed people watching it. and they were really surprised to see that the condition he was in. and there were similarities made between now understanding biden's challenges as well. not that it's a stroke. but challenges in communicating. >> those in both cases were not fully understood by voters in advance? >> i think that been proven true. >> good to have you on, thank you. >> just ahead, speaker of the house nancy pelosi is reacting to the violent attack on her husband inside the couple's san francisco home. a republican congresswoman joins me when we return. promises of all shapes and sizes. each, with a time and a place they've been seoul, south korea. at least 153 people were killed at a halloween event. at least 100 others are hurt. the crowd surged into a narrow alley that took people down like dominoes. reporter: what is not clear is why this tragedy cost so many young lives. but people in south korea are utterly shocked by what happened. most of those who died here were in their 20s and 30s. some even in their teens. witnesses say the crush started around 10:00 local time saturday. 100,000 people were thought to be in this central area of seoul at the time. they were celebrating halloween for the first time since covid-19. emergency services rushed to the scene, but for many that help came too late. some are still in serious condition and at least one american is thought to be among the dead. these narrow streets are critical to night life. there are questions about how things became so out of control. and in the chaos, many are still searching for missing loved ones. south korea is observing a period of national warning and the area where the tragedy happened is being declared a disaster area. jon: speaker of the house nancy pelosi stopped by her san francisco home where her 82-year-old husband was attacked with a hammer friday morning. miss say the assault was not random but they have not confirmed david depape's motive. nancy pelosi said our children and grandchildren are heartbroken and traumatized by the heartbreaking attack on our pop. some democrats have been quick to call the attack politically motivated. but republicans say not so fast. the latest abc poll says the economy and inflation are highest on the list of concerns. abortion ranks number 3 at 16%. joining us with more on this is congresswoman nicole malliotakis. there is still a lot we don't know about the attack on paul pelosi. any thoughts on the assailant, on the victim here, and the whole situation? >> i think it's a terrible situation. certainly we should always condemn vie hence and assault. that's one of the biggest issues we are seeing is crime has sored. we are seeing individual being assaulted every day on the streets and in the subway. and people are concerned about crime. here in new york inflation is at the top, but also crime is. because we have a governor who refuses to fix the radical bail law. refuses to prosecute people and release them back on the streets. people are fleeing to states like florida. jon: a look at the fox news power rankings at all the seats up for grabs in the u.s. congress. 15 likely democrat and 19 likely lean democrat. 14 lean republican, and in the likely republican, the red column on the right, there is new york 11. that would be your district. it looks like you are going to win reelection. >> we are very hopeful that we'll win the election. we defeated a democrat incumbent two years ago, somebody who was in line with nancy pelosi, voted lock step with her. after he was fired by the people, he went on to work for the disastrous biden administration. people in this country, i think they see the need for a balance. my constituents see that under one party democrat rule, the border is a nightmare. it's a complete disaster by joe biden. you are seeing cities becoming dismantled because of policies by kathy hochul. and the lack of energy independence. the anti-energy parole is coming out of the left. so i feel that people understand the republicans have solutions to address all this. we have the legislation ready to roll. we need a new speaker of the house who will allow these bills to come to the floor for a vote. one-party democrat rule has not served us. jon: you are something of an american success story. your parents are immigrants from greece and cuba, correct? >> that's correct. jon: you have been elected to the u.s. congress. you have an mba. what would you say totter recent arrivals in this country and how do we continue the path of success? >> we are going to continue to preserve this american dream for future generations we must stop the socialist movement that's trying to destroy it. we need a nation that's secure. we need the streets to be safe. we can't rely on our adversaries like iran and venezuela. i'm proud much my office's record. we helped 78 individuals from 27 countries to become united states citizens. they came to this country legally and did everything right and got stuck in red tape. we see 4 million people entering illegally. including those on the terrorist watchlist. i think we want to encourage people to pursue the american dream. but we want to make sure they are following the rules and doing it right. we want a nation that's secure. that starts at our southern border. and not being the record number of fentanyl crossing as well. jon: in that graphic we showed earlier, we put 33 congressional seats in the stosup column. if you write that down, the best case for democrats this time around if they were to win all 33 of those tossups, the best case scenario is the house has the a majority o to say right n. but the important thing is for people to get out and vote. we stopped democrats' gerrymandering attempts. we stopped them in court. and we got fair maps. we can win both those seats and win george santos and esposito in long island. these are the ones that determine the majority in a couple of days now. i think we desperately need to see a balance in warn. that will be the key to make it happen. holding on to seats like mine that we flipped and picking up those opportunities where the democrats overplayed their hands, gerrymandered and lost in court. one message for new yorkers. please get out and vote for lee zeldin. don't let anyone stay home this year. jon: congresswoman, thank you. millions of early ballots already cast in the mid-term they also cover your medicare deductibles and coinsurance. but they often have higher monthly premiums and no prescription drug coverage. now, let's take a look at humana's medicare advantage plans. let's talk about it with gopac chairman david avella. >> unjoe biden's economy you don't have as many dollars to get to do that. if republicans will stay focused on a message of your new job with a higher bay check. it won't go nearly as far as joe biden continuing his disastrous policies they put in place. it was every congressional democrat senate and house that voted for the economic packages and actions this administration took that got us to where we are. as republicans we'll prioritize the economy, and inflation. and doing those things that always successfully brought down inflation. get government spending under control, get more dollars in people's pockets and reduce regulations so people can do their jobs. jon: if your party were to win the senate and the house. and it looks the president has to acknowledge there is a republican controlled house and hope think a republican-controlled senate. right before the 2010 elections it was president barack obama and president biden saying republicans are going to cut medicare and make the trains run off the track, and they will ruin the economy and shut the government down. we are even getting cameos from president barack obama right now bringing him back. think about what happened in 2010. republicans picked up 63 seats in the u.s. house. and 6 senate seats. we had a record wave of wins. and new york, oregon, maryland, it means we are on offense. we need to govern luke we were elected. and we need to focus on those economic issues and fine where we can get president biden to join us to get inflation down. jon: your party is defending 17 seats in the senate. both went to democrats in alaska. >> there is really only four u.s. senate seats that are competitive. and everyone of those the trend is toward our republican nominee. early voting in north carolina favored republicans over the democrats. so certainlyf i would rather be in our spot rather than their spot as we go into the senate elections. let's keep in mind how special elections are special. unlike a general election in which the political environment has far more impact on. in that case, and in he scenario you sure would rather be the republican than the democrat. jon: we have the rankings side to put up on the screen again. this is in the united states senate. in colorado and new hampshire, those seem to lean democrat. four tossup will be the upset of the night. when the wave crashes you win them all. we picked up six senate seats in 2010. think about when democrats have taken a majority in the senate, they have won big numbers and won the competitive races. we are well positioned, given the fact that independents favor republicans by double digits, the best factor for determining which party will take the majority. where innocence goes it's typically who gets the majority. we are wing a bigger share of hispanic and asian votes. all of it lines up for a big night for republicans in 9 days. jon: i will be watching that
